Did you mean Garcia?

That drop at :52, I think he took eight steps.

We've also offered his teammate, 2020 OLB/DE Jordan Banks.

No, I was actually just countering Txsbuckeye. My effort is lame today.

I was playing off the similarity in spelling of Gracias and Garcia.

McCord and McCarthy seem pretty similar on tape.  I might lean towards preferring McCord as he’s a bit bigger, and of course the Marvin Harrison Jr. connection.   Although we might get him regardless.

Exciting times with Day and Yurcich leading the way on the recruiting trail.

is 'this' recruiting 'different' than 'that one'?

just for those who dote on their preferences, and think inside the zero-sum box.

so far...listening to our coaches' words and not my feelings nor anyone else's opinions...

...i'm hearing less about preferences and fav offenses or defenses...

...and more about versatility, adapting [the reactionary term for The Initiative], and applying our schemes to our players' strengths.

Yet to hear much about how our offense assesses/responds when the D attacks or 'stops' what we are doing.  But first things first - our values, our philosophy, our strategy, our tactics, our people... subordinated to our 'mission'.

when the gun sounded at 0:00:00 in the Rose Bowl... this became 'next'.  Spring game marks the end of the cyclical beginning.

My opinion:  Coach Day & staff are 'on the journey', on that 'path less traveled'.  Testing by the 'come what may' takes no vacations, and is 'so unfair'....   ;-{)}

So much of great importance to discuss... so few choose to do so....   Nothing new, nothing says we have to keep stumbling and blaming and giving our egos 'max headroom'....  ;-{)}

GO BUCKS!

I was trying to describe Max Headroom to someone who'd never seen the show the other day... nearly impossible!  Good comment 68... the "future" at QB will be very interesting as it unfolds.  We've had several QBs who were the 'identity' of the offense and dictated the style of play. Will that future continue, or will we develop a QB room that executes at a high level in more than one style of play and brings out the best in the rest of our offense, enabling us to be 'scheme versatile'.  Hoping to see a procession of accurate passers who can move their feet and bring out the best in the Buckeye offense.

a superstar, a goto guy, is a form of idol worship.   Be cause a person can be 'the best' we 'have'... means he becomes our self-limiting factor.

is this 'oh him'?  Not at all - it's simply refusing to grow...together...to keep dedicating our selves to becoming... 'more than the sum of our parts' regardless of who is what 'size'.....

another way of putting it is that one leader can be 'excellent' in X skills/dimensions, but never 'greater than he is'.

Coach DJ uses the term 'tool box' rather than 'this skill or that'.  Day uses 'versatility' rather than 'G or T'.  Our D coaches are star...ting to talk about 'scheme versatile' - a dynamic - rather than 'adapt at halftime/point X/result Y'.  Next barrier:  'adapt' is a change driven by some external perception and thus by nature, 'reactive'.  'On y vons qu'a on y pas'!  Audace, audace, toujours l'audace'  [probably butchered those sayings ;-{)}  ].  The Initiative...goes FIRST...come what may!

Keep making 'them' ...play THE Game - 'our' game!  As you say, "the procession of plays with 'student of the game' playmakers doing the 'unexpected' that they 'knew about'... 'after'.  Not 'my game', which depends on me, reacting to my perceptions...of the opponent intentions.

These are indicators we are starting to see our limitations in zero-sum thinking, which box us into a limited pie divided into 'shares'... when on the field of competition, there ARE NO 'FAIR SHARES'.   ;-{)}

Put another way, for us fans... turn DVers... into DVers.  [Down voters... into Distinguished Visitors]   ;-{)}

McCarthy or McCord seem to be the guy we will currently land for the 2021, which makes me McHappy.

Is this the year we will actually get to land 2 QBs then?

Jack Miller would be a strong addition. A 2021 guy would need plenty of confidence. We're on a solid path.
I noticed none of the above heights started with a 5. Thank God.

From what I hear, heights starting with a 5 will get you a Heisman trophy and the #1 pick in the NFL draft...

We need to start taking 2 every year knowing they are going to leave.  We can't be held hostage.  Look back at spring ball last year.  Haskins, Burrows and Martell in spring 2018.  One year later all 3 gone.  We need to do what is best for program, not what is best for these guys.

Question about a second qb, would we try and get 2 blue chippers or maybe the 2nd one is a lower rated kid maybe from ohio that would just want to be a buckeye but know he will be a backup....I actually would rather do the latter, it avoids another QBgeddon and if you try for 2 blue chips one will probably end up transferring and you end up with the same depth problem anyway

McCarthy threw for nearly 3,500 yards with 39 touchdowns to just four interceptions. 247 Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong has logged a crystal ball pick in favor of the Buckeyes.

The above along with a State Championship. Sounds like he might be a decent QB.

In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...

The future is bright at qb. I wonder how soon the staff will accept a commitment from a qb considering what happened with Emory Jones recently? I would like to see McCarthy as the qb but would gladly take mccord as the qb in this class.

HS
gobucks1966's picture

Taking two a year is a bit much. There are only so many reps to go around not like wr or other positions. The year we won the NC with a 3rd string qb is something that probably never happened before or ever will again. Once you get down to number three your team is in trouble. 4 is all you need there are always walk ons if injury gets that bad at qb. If a qb transfers he will be replaced in the next class.

Didn't we play a bowl game without a QB?  I think it was Tress against a Les Miles team and if memory serves correct we smoked em.

Take one and rely on the portal if you have to.

I like what I see from them all.Happy to have any one of them. But McCarthy seems to have the "it" factor. He totally senses pressure (not such a good OL blocking for him) and he can make plays out of nothing.
