Beg to differ. There's a great deal of discretion in setting bonds and bonds are set way before all the evidence is known and presented. Bond is supposed to assure someone's appearance throughout the rest of the proceedings and to secure their attendance. Other factors are involved as well but pre-judgment of guilt is not supposed to be a factor. That's why the accused has rights built into the process.

HS
Il_Padrino's picture

Create a fake hate crime that involves 16 indictments - bond was $100,000...  Judges don't just throw a dart at a dart board when assessing bond.

We can politely agree to disagree at this point.

HS
Buckpasser51's picture

Precisely my point. They don't use a dart board. There are factors that are considered. The "guilt" of the defendant is not one of them unless the bond is set to secure appearance for sentencing after conviction or bond pending appeal. Before a trial, it is folly to conclude guilt based on the size of the bond. Apples are not oranges.

HS
Il_Padrino's picture

Precisely?  $300k is a very serious bond is, and was, my point.  Not sure what is meant by apples and oranges in your response because that to concurs with my point that if an apple = serious crime and an orange = not so serious crime.... he's an A P P L E and in deep.

There is a difference between using meth and selling meth. The reason I asked this question is because law enforcement uses the verbiage "with intent to deliver" because of the quantity found on the suspect. It doesn't necessarily mean Hill was selling the drug to others.

Agree with your help sentiment.  The drug corrupts the body and character worse than anything because it's relatively cheap.  If he's been using and carrying for financing, getting taken out for a long time might be what he needs--of course, for others' sakes, too.

Which states have the biggest drug problems?

By Ashley Welch

May 14, 2018 / 4:23 PM / CBS News

As the opioid epidemic continues to wreak havoc on communities across the country, new data looks at where drug abuse is most pronounced and which geographic areas in the United States are most at risk.

The report from personal finance website WalletHub ranks the 50 states and the District of Columbia across more than a dozen key metrics, ranging from the rate of opioid prescriptions to arrest and overdose rates and meth-lab incidents per capita.

According to the report, the 10 states with the biggest drug use problems include:

1. District of Columbia
2. Missouri
3. New Hampshire
4. Michigan
5. West Virginia
6. New Mexico
7 Indiana
8. Rhode Island
9. Kentucky
10. Pennsylvania

I'd never heard of Tudor's Biscuit World before, but the name certainly intrigued me. Stopped by their website and let me just say I admire the Hell out of any company that boldly acknowledges a weakness and makes it a strength. Far from hiding their nutritional info, they prominently feature it on their lead banner within 3 seconds of visiting the site. Their take seems to be, "If you had any doubts that a sausage biscuit contained 750 calories, 50% of which are from fat, and more sodium than the Dead Sea, here's your proof. Now stop worrying about it and go buy one--or several--of our tasty little coronaries." Well played, Tudors. I'll stop by for a biscuit if I'm ever in the neighborhood.

Meth is not a recreational drug, it is instead a drug designed to create addiction and dependence.

Meth is equivalent, or maybe worse, than heroin and other opioid drugs in addictive properties and in destructiveness.

The use of meth, and distribution and selling meth especially, is not a laughing matter.

While there are drugs like alcohol and others that can be used in a way that is not destructive (although addiction and destructive use is certainly possible with alcohol and other drugs), meth does not have any path of use that is not destructive.

Not only is this not a laughing matter, it is in fact deadly serious.

Another aspect is how intent people are in producing meth. It is a complicated process that contaminates pretty much any structure where it's made. It's not easy like growing pot plants in a basement (disclaimer: I just drink beer and whiskey).

Having lived in Seattle for nearly 20 years, I know of two crazy meth stories.

The first one was a van that turned over on the main freeway (I-5). It turned out to be a mobile meth lab and it was spilling chemicals onto the freeway. They had to shut the freeway down and bring in the hazmat folks in plastic suits. Hey kids! It's not the book mobile it's the meth mobile!

The second one was in Capitol Hill where I lived. Most people are renters, because the houses cost a million plus to buy. Anyhow, a white collar guy with a big house on one of the premier streets was busted for making meth in the house. I guess that's how he afforded the mortgage.

No worries, I'm not so insecure that I fret about children "downvoting" posts and yes, the "Parking Ticket" comment was as you perceived it. However, I was under the impression that this forum was dedicated to supporting a brand and I don't see the value in laboring over the criminal activities of those that are no longer with the program.

Every student athlete that plays for OSU does not come in with a clean past and they are not automatically good and wholesome individuals just because they made a tackle, scored a TD or swam with other girls in a pool. Just as, other than the program up North, not all players for other programs are automatically bad apples.

It's sad that he went this direction in his life and NOT because he was a football player from OSU, because he's ruining HIS life. It does not in any way reflect upon this program in my opinion. I do however wish to thank the Georgia baseball program for their contribution to this university.

I'm no expert, but I'd think you'd want to use someone a little more nondescript as your public face. If the cops go sniffing around, you don't want witnesses to say, "Oh yeah, the dude was BIG. Like, played defensive-tackle-for-the-Buckeyes big."

This guy is from Pendleton, SC which in case you don’t know is the town right next to Clemson. I’m glad he ended up leaving and chose the Buckeyes!

Clemson is an awefull town. Best recruits, worst location ratio in all of college football. Not even close.

Well, I guess now we know how she WAS eating. Now would be a more appropriate time to ask the same question, however. ;)
