Man, the camera operator who captured this needs to win whatever the Nobel Prize of sports broadcasting is. Everything here is pure poetry. The framing, the expression on the MSU player's face, the immediate look-away from UM #13, and then at the very end the ref comes into frame and you see that he saw the whole thing. There's a lot to appreciate here.

This satisfies me.

The Purdue/Tennessee game was the real treasure of the night, though. Beautiful basketball.

This is definitely where I parked my car.

I was perfect in the West region in my bracket... until this game. I'm not happy it's not perfect anymore, but at least it was TTUN that lost.

That's a Buckeye touchdown!

And to top it all off, the guy that had the perfect bracket was a Michigan grad that had his bracket busted by Michigan losing to Texas tech (he had all 1 and 2 seeds advancing)

HS

Actually Purdue broke his perfect bracket. He had Tennessee winning

That's a Buckeye touchdown!

Actually, went 1 for 19. And the shot that went in was on their last possession; the ball hit the back of the iron, died and went in.

interesting quote, Lamplighter.  Please correct me if i'm wrong here:  it seems to me that you are posting this as a paradigm for debate, rather than as a personal  belief.

Logically, the major premise in the quote is that "the truth [is] so dull and depressing".  Says who?

The preface "with" so slyly infers that his premise is accepted fact, ...settled law, so to speak.

The 'hunter says'... indeed.

So Michigan played one more game than Ohio State this year and could not compete with the three seed they played.

Also won the same amount of championships as OSU this season. Now their fans can look forward to football season where they will be vastly overhyped and overrated preseason only to lose three games again.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

Been telling you for years, they are a softball school. They are 19-10 right now and ranked 23rd. In Michigan-world, that puts them on par with UConn women's basketball, Stanford volleyball and MIT mathletes.

Here is a quote from a *ichigan fan I find hilarious...and delusional.

"M will consistently be a top 20 program in both sports.  M won't consistently be top 5 in either.

in football, M doesn't have access to enough of the very best players to be top 5 most years (if ever going forward). demographics matter in in football.

in basketball coaching ethics & institutional norms limit M."

Blu.Fan, come give us a lecture about your great basketball school please. I need it. #AlwaysNextYear

Hahaha. No lectures from me. I love Beilein, and what he has done. But this team was always terribly flawed on offense, and it was a foregone conclusion this was going to eventually happen. Oh, and FYI, Brian over at mgoblog was fairly resigned to this happening and didn't make excuses. From mgoblog:

Michigan is a limited offensive team full of guys with major holes in their toolsets. Simpson can't shoot. Iggy can't pass. Poole can't stop oscillating wildly. Teske can't create his own shots. Matthews has some variety of all these issues. All these guys have assets that they managed to cobble together a top-25 offense out of, but there was a hard stop. So when they run up against a defense just as good as theirs they have a limited set of responses. When they run up against a team that's comfortable switching everything those responses narrow further.

When you are in this situation and literally do not hit a shot outside of the paint in the first 30 minutes you get run out of the building.

Michigan had a good year. Not a great one, but hey, you can't whine about 30 wins in a year. Good luck to OSU b-ball next year!

EDIT:  There's a reason MSU beat Michigan 3 times this year!! Michigan needs more offense.

HS
bucknut1994's picture

Yeah thank god Coach B padded up the early season schedule so you could go 17-0 and then finish 13-7  ;-{)}

Agree and disagree. I'd like to see Michigan play tougher teams. However, remember the following teams were in their schedule:

  • Villanova
  • North Carolina
  • Purdue

Still, too many cupcakes in the non-conference schedule doesn't help. MSU was clearly better this year. And Texas Tech had Michigan's number. C'est la Vie.

The reason(s) they lost: 1) A three hour different time zone; 2) The Zebras-always; 3) Distracted having to play on baseball opening day, Japan doesn't count; 4) Too close to Disney Land.

Michigan sure looked like they did not belong last night.  Not going to repeat the stats--most people know how bad offensively they were.  I was not rooting for them.  But, at least for me, the hate that I have for them in football is great.  But I don't share that same hate in basketball.  I always hope they lose.  But, I have to admit that I do admire John Belein (SP).  He is a very good basketball coach and does not go out of his way to ridicule his opponents.  I remember a few years ago in Indy, we knocked them out of the Big Ten Tournament in the semifinals and his comment about the Buckeyes was very simple--"that is one of the best basketball teams I have ever seen".  Contrast that to Dick Rod, Hoake, and Crazy Jimmy.  It is very easy to hate those guys.  Michigan has a class act for a basketball coach.  And they have had crap coaches and crap people that have followed Lloyd Carr.  GO BUCKS!

I have the same hate for them in any sport.  I think it is because my hate for them is not directed at their players but at their fans and alumni.  Oh and Harbaugh, he is a huge tool.

We will see what TT can do against legit offensive talent in Gonzaga. Both late games last nite were pitiful. Elite high school players dont want to go play for teams that play like that. They watch the Purdue- Tennessee and want that type of program. That is what today college basketball is about. Unfortunately the Buckeyes offense was worse than Michigan's and fans stayed away and the team generated little interest. I hope Holtmann moves toward an uptempo offensive style to get better recruits instead guys that cant throw the ball in the ocean like half of this years team.

Dgeneral

HS
Buxki84's picture

Yes, to uptempo. Run the floor. Shooters need to step up and knock down shots.

The additions to next year's roster should enable this change to happen. I'm reminded of Gary Williams first year at Ohio State. What a shock it was to go from Eldon Miller's plodding style to Gary Williams' press and attack. The excitement level generated by the change was exhilarating.

I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
