Hell no! A b-ball championship would be nice, but it will never define us, as it would at a b-ball school like NC, or michigan. I can't imagine anyone that survived the 90's would make that trade. Ask me again after we've won 30 of 31 against them.
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
I cannot accept a loss to TTUN in football. Ever.
No. I will never trade a win against TTUN in football for a basketball championship. We are a football school, and because of that, I prefer that we crush TTUN every year.
Now this isn't a knock on the basketball team. I love the BasketBucks, but in 5 years, people are more likely to remember us losing to TTUN that one year than they are to remember us winning a basketball championship.
I hope we crush TTUN every year
That's a Buckeye touchdown!
I caught this one while I was grinding away on the treadmill this morning, great show.
Joshua Perry really brings a cool edge to the show too being that he's a former player and only a couple of years removed from the team. Keep up the great work Jason, Chris, Joshua and Dan!!
I have to agree with the comments above as well as Drew who won a Dry Goods shirt for his answer on the show this morning, basketball championships are cool at basketball schools like ttun but at tOSU, football is what they do and a loss against ttun is NEVER acceptable, regardless of the circumstances.
It's Tuesday, March 28th at 12:17 CDT and ttun still sucks!!!
"Defiance in Silence"
Thanks, man. Joshua is so smooth at this and makes Chris and I better just from being in the same room.
Thanks for the support! To be fair, my answer was yes but with several caveats. 1) As long as it doesn't keep OSU out of the playoffs and 2) definitely not during Ryan Day's first season coming off of Urban's undefeated streak. Now if we could just get that wrestling championship and take the last thing away from my PSU co-workers...
Anyway, I still need to figure out which shirt I want to double up on.
As long as it doesn't keep OSU out of the playoffs
No worries, Iowa and Purdue have you covered there brother...
Now if we could just get that wrestling championship and take the last thing away from my PSU co-workers...
It's really the ONLY thing your PSU co-workers have left man, that might scar them for life. After losing by 1 point in epic fashion the last two years to tOSU, it may be the straw that finally breaks the camels back!
I still need to figure out which shirt I want to double up on.
Get that Beat Blue tee, it'll look damn good on the last Saturday in November when you're watching Ryan Day go 1-0 against Harbaugh and you can turn your old one to the sloth cloth you've been missing...
This Week's Question: Would you trade a loss to Michigan in football for a national championship in men's basketball?
Absolutely fuckin not. I like basketball and everything, and a championship would be cool. But I would never give up a win over the stink bears for one. Or pretty much anything else for that matter.
Also I listened to the show this week for the first time. Living in Michigan, I don't 97.1 but I just recently discovered the podcast function on my phone. Great show. Josh Perry does a fantastic job. That dude is gonna be on Fox or ESPN before too long.
Take a 'L' from the rival for a hoops title?
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
I'm hearing you loud and clear on that one Hove!
Your post makes me think of this one, one of my Mike Myers favorites and very fitting in this instance.
The Michigan question is a thought provoker. I would have to say, with some difficulty, that yes if a single football loss to Michigan would come with a guaranteed NCAA men's basketball championship I would be OK with it. Primarily because as much as I would love to see OSU beat Michigan every season forever, that is unrealistic. At some point Michigan is going to snag a win in football so if OSU could pair that loss, whenever it occurs, with a basketball national championship that would be a pretty great consolation. A different question would be would I trade any chance of OSU ever winning a NCAA basketball championship for OSU NEVER losing to Michigan in football again. If that were the trade I am afraid I would have to throw the basketball Bucks under the bus. Sorry guys.
Regarding the Michigan question, can we do it retroactively? If so, I want to travel back in time to 2011 and 2012. I'd keep Fickel's loss to them as is and trade it to flip the Final Four result over Kansas, and then whoop up on Kentucky. If I could just have that, I wouldn't ever make that trade again.
Otherwise, I have to agree with Schizo and Trotwoodbuck, in the answer is yes - but only if I can put some qualifications on it. And again, I would only do it once.
