Fuck eSECpn and fuck Mythigan.
Due you are the worst commentor and always saying negative stuff. Ban this troll already
I just clicked on his profile and yiiiikes. He's also got the rare 50/50 UV/DV voting record, which is always good to see.
So you're saying you want banned, are you?
OH-IO living BACK IN COLUMBUS after 32 years in the ATL.
Perhaps a better experience and more development minutes that a one and blown out in the dance.
The dude has a point. Which is better? A) go to NIT with chance to win it or B) get pimp slapped in the 1st round of the NCAAs? This team just isn't very good.
NCAA hands down!!!!
Nobody gives a rats ass about the NIT. If you want to play in the NIT to say that you won a couple games, go back to pop warner league so you can get a trophy.
1) Very glad we trimmed it to 7. Losing by 20+ would have been a bad last impression.
2) I've given up hoping that Kaleb will ever learn to be smarter with his fouls.
3) I think we make the Dance. I wouldn't put money on us winning any games there, but I still want us to go.
I would agree that 2 of Kaleb's fouls were dumb frustration fouls...the other 3 were very very questionable
Some were iffy, but its still on him to not even put himself in the refs hands. If you picked up early fouls already you need to avoid contact. But he just can't help himself.
the weren't iffy, they were Izzo fouls.
Izzo started screaming 3 minutes into the game.
But, yes, Kaleb is partly to blame.
Hey, the guys were tired.
Rough loss...bad calls and quality shooting by MSU doomed us. Good fight at the end. Let's get a W to start the tournament
Three squares come to my attention. MSU shot clock violation, MSU air ball, and OSU < 15 turnovers. We were close to forcing a shot clock violation several times but MSU always got a shot off and usually made it. We didn't force an air ball, which means MSU's offense had good movement and they shot the ball well. And of course, we had too many turnovers so we didn't give ourselves enough chances to score.
The fouls played into it, maybe the inverse of the "Wesson has his way" square, is "Kaleb doesn't foul out."
I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
I expected just about exactly this so it is how it is
imo went from a beatdown sealing an NIT bid to an NCAA bid with a gut check 16-2 run to close the game..
Should be dancing..
I will actively root against Izzo and MSU in the tourney. They just joined my Kentucky, UNC, and scUM list.
In addition to the hit list.. I always root against bug ten teams. They're the enemy and I have no conference allegiance in basketball.
the shady F1 tied at 40 was the turning point. MSU is a fraud come tournament time
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Shady? He elbowed a guy in the head. That was a stupid move on Kaleb's part.
Kaleb's bb IQ is very low.
And the shoulder the guy rammed into Wesson's chest before Kaleb retaliated with the elbow is ok? Far worse contact than what happened on Kalebs 5th foul. Almost like they were instructed to keep him out of the game.
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS
Wasn't that weird how McQuaid was licking his fingers, though? Like he had made a trip to KFC.
Yes.....it did look a bit weird.
That, or.... or.... or................. or..... nevermind. I thought something similar.
Can’t wait to crush these weenies next year when OSU gets their great talent to come in.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
Honestly didn’t play bad for a majority of the game. Great start, terrible officiating doomed us early. Way to fight back at the end though. Feeling good heading into the tourney.
Sparty was in the bonus way too early. We had 5 fouls on us very quickly and that number grew. Sparty gets away with a lot, and we didn't get near as many calls.
Turnovers sink us again and we're 0-3 against Sparty. I'd be lying if I said was looking forward to selection Sunday.
The only good thing about The Game is winning it - Urban Meyer
Same here. I don't have a good feeling. Too many loses late in the year.
Maybe I am wrong, but you don’t go from being a consensus 10-11 seed going into the game...and losing to a consensus 2 seed by 7...doesn’t really drop you out of the tourney in my humble opinion.
True but we'll be lucky if we get out of the round of 64.
You can't win the lottery if you don't play. As i have posted before we see every year less talented
teams get hot and the mire talented teams go cold. Lehigh upsetting duke rings a bell or seth curry's vcu squad's nice run.
Like it or not, style or not, Holtmann needs to figure out that working the officials and being the occasional dick is part of his job, or we will continue to be a doormat.
I disagree. I think when he complained to the Big Ten office early this season, he is getting punished for it, now. It’s like they’re punishing him for being a tattle-tale, although he did it properly. We’re hardly anyone’s doormat.
Yes, so doing itvthe right way isn’t working. Being a little bitch like Izzo is what works. Not his style, but Holtmann needs to learn how to work the officials. Unfortunately, it’s part of the game.
Welp, the refs were bad from the get go but that's to be expected. Outside of that, our lineup does not consist of a lot of talent and we can't overcome challenges like that, especially against good teams. Hope we make the tourney, would be really good experience for our young players.
We were right there and Sparty went on a tear. It stinks but I loved the heart from this team to close out the game. Wherever we play this post season, I'll be cheering!
Side note: Woods is stepping up in a big way these last few games. Good to see as he was really struggling most of 2019
It's too bad that Woods picked up 2 quick fouls in the 1st half, one on defense on the perimeter and the other on a push off on a fastbreak, only about a minute apart in the first half. That slowed us down. He had 8 pts. in the first 6 minutes before the 2nd foul sent him to the bench.
It wouldn’t be a game against Michigan St without the officials swinging it in their favor. A few of those fouls on Wesson were awful. The Flagrant Foul swung the game. Wesson turned hard with his elbows out but McQuaid had this face in his armpit. That has to be some sort of cylinder violation.
The team battled to the end and I think we are in the Big Dance. I’ll be glad to get away from Big Ten opponents, I think we can surprise some people in the NCAA tourney if we play our best ball.
Lol ok. "I didn't punch you, I was just swinging my arm with my hand in a fist and your face was in the way!"
The refs said when Ward hit Keyshawn Woods with his elbow that if it was a cyclinder violation they wouldn’t have called a flagrant one. It was clearly a cyclinder violation on McQuaid.
No question McQuaid fouled Kaleb. But Kaleb has to be smarter when he has a smaller guy on him. Smaller guys are looking to get into/under Kaleb and set him up for cheap fouls.
Unfortunate thing about that play is that it was perhaps the first time in the game that OSU got a switch out top with a smaller guy guarding Kaleb rolling down to the low post. MSU did that repeatedly to us for multiple scores.
Proud of our guys - they fought hard today.
I'm good with whatever may lie ahead for the remainder of the season.
CBB needs a flop reviewing system. video reviews after the game for all block and charge calls. one game suspension after a guy's 3rd egregious flop, two games after his 6th, etc etc. refs that fall for it should also be suspended.
the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up! - JLS
Like Wisconsin, another good job of not giving up.
Rest up and make the most of whichever tournament you get a shot at.
Foul out with 9:41 min left really?
With a whopping 15 minutes on the court. It's not November. It's freaking March. So much for Holtman and the 7' "student coach" developing his greatest weakness.
Kids fought today, can't complain. Playing with urgency to get the score back to a respectable point showed they are not going to quit. Should make the tournament. Hope they can use the next week of practice and rest to be ready to battle again.
They’ll play Thursday.
We made 12 3s and 10 for 10 at the line. Just turned it over too many times and didn't get enough rebounds.
Rebounding was pretty even. MSU had 1 more offensive rebound and 2 more defensive rebounds, but on 4 more Buck missed shot opportunities. That's pretty good against a team that rebounds as well as MSU, especially with Kaleb out so much of the game.
Definitely agree on the TOs. I also did not like seeing Loyer and McQuaid, neither of which look particularly fleet of foot, beating defenders off the dribble for easy chances in the paint.
It's not enough to hang with them on the boards.
We will struggle to beat MSU if we don't DOMINATE them on the boards. That means playing great D without fouling, and having bigger, better, stronger rebounders.
Rebounding was pretty even.
Well . . .
OSU was up 2 reb at the half. Izzo must have gotten on them because they zoomed past OSU in rebounds after intermission.
Then MSU missed their last 5 shots in the game, which let OSU seem closer overall.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Yep, turnovers were a big factor. MSU got 20 points off TO's, and OSU got 14.
MSU also got 11 more Free Throws, and outscored OSU by 8 at the line.
Guilty as charged. I turned it off with about 4-5min to go. Completely missed the 16-0 run. Was a little surprised at the final score.
Put us in the dance, and let us scrap against non B1G team. There are a few different scenarios where I like our chances to win a game.
Everybody wants to be heard, and the easiest way to be the loudest is to be the hater
Love K. Wesson, but he needs to play much smarter and know how MUCH his team needs him to be in the game. Very frustrating. Now go represent in the Big Dance!
TG Proud Buckeye alumnus.
I like Andre Wesson the more I watch him play. Under control, good decisions, avoids the stupid turnovers...for the most part.
Andre actually has a lot of stupid turnovers with bad/lazy passes. Lead our team with 7 of them the past 2 games.
Did you mean Kaleb? Or did we just find the world's biggest Andre Wesson fan
Andre is playing 10x better than Kaleb
1 vs. 12. Good luck with that. Perhaps we'll draw Zion.
Update: Florida just knocked off a top-10 LSU team. That's bad news for us, as they were one of the few teams below us on the bubble.
That certainly would have helped secure it, but I think Florida was considered in already, so not a huge blow. Need the favorites like Buffalo, Nevada, and Washington to win their tourneys. It would take quite a bit more of bad luck surprises to get knocked out of the field. First Four is a definite possibility if not probable at this point.
Every time I see Izzo, I can't help but think of this Raylon Givens' quote:
“If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole.”
“That’s the way you respect a rivalry. Then you outwork them and then you kick that ass like it’s never been kicked before” - Urban F Meyer
wait shhhh ! I can hear Don Merideth singing Turn out the liiiiggghhhts, the party's over !
Those guys are guilty of just one thing ! stepping on each others toes........ AINT NO TEAM HERE !
they don't deserve a tournament seed...... that is for TEAMS, not solo players
"Shoulda called you 'The Dork'."
Foul trouble seems to follow us around like a stray dog. We are not deep enough to weather that. Hopefully the officiating is a little more neutral in the NCAA tourney.
So the officials cost us the game? They caused us to turn it over 20 times?
Didn’t say that. Just seems like we are on the short end of the stick when it comes to foul calls. More often than not we foul a lot more than our opponents.
More often then not, we DO foul more. We aren’t a smart team. Just look at the STUPID fouls yesterday. Woods CLEARLY extending an arm on two player control fouls. Wesson CLEARLY setting BAD screens and then the elbow to the head on a player control Flagrant 1.
Its not the officiating against us. Cmon man
I’ve lost hope that Kaleb Wesson will ever play even remotely smart when it comes to fouls and after play stuff. The team in general plays dumb
Not sure why some people are unhappy with a likely tournament bid. The goal every year is to get there, both for returning experience and a chance to win some games.
Hate to beat a dead horse, but Ahrens only played 7 minutes more today than yesterday, at 8 minutes.
If you die before you die, then you won't die when you die.
Just because he had one game where he shot out of his rear is no reason to decide he deserves big minutes at this point in his career. Love the kids hustle and he can hit the open shot but his defense is bad and he can't get his own shot. I think he becomes a very valuable component to this team in the years to come but he's not an All-Star that's sitting the bench. In fact he's only playing because there is zero depth on this team and in most years you don't see four frosh playing significant minutes.
well no point putting Ahrens in if we are not going to pick and roll to get him open.
It’s called pick and pop
pick and pop, shake and bake, whatever.
I upvoted you anyways! :-)
Ahrens is looking to shoot the 3 a bit too early instead of scoring in a more conventional way. He needs to get a layup, or make a hustle play and get to the free throw line. Get that first "easy" score and then go from there. The 3s will come once he gets going.
16 minutes, 16 minutes are you freaking kidding me?
Well my weekend plans just freed up.
Has Ahrens scored a point since his 29 point outburst, seems like he dropped off the edge of the earth?
He played 1 minute against Indiana for 0 points, 8 minutes today for 0 points.
Against Iowa he he played 30 minutes and scored 20 points;
Against Wisconsin he played 20 minutes for 9 pts
NW 23 minutes 3 points
Purdue 20 minutes 0 pts
He's not consistent but neither is Andre Wesson who plays a substantial more amount of time. So, Ahrens must be lacking in the hustle, D, or understanding because it's not because he's scoring any more or less than A. Wesson. Wesson must be doing the other tangibles better than Ahrens.
Andre - Wasn’t for Andre today, it’s ugly and over in the first half.
He scored nine points against Wisconsin. After Kaleb got suspended, every opposing coach was not going to let Ahrens beat them with the three point shot. So they defended him better by allowing him to get open threes. Ahrens will be a good player in the future but he needs to develop an inside game as well as defend better.
In addition to Foster Loyer's unforeseen scoring, he also drew the first and second fouls against Kaleb. Kaleb ran him over on a pick (Loyer set a pick on Kaleb under MSU's basket) for Kaleb's first foul and then Kaleb got called for a moving screen on OSU's next possession, fouling Loyer. Two fouls in 33 seconds. Quite the day for Foster Loyer.
He also drew the third foul (in the first half) against Keyshawn Woods picking up a charge call.
Two major points.
1. Way too many dumb mistakes and fouls. QUIT whining about the refs.
2. Our basketball IQ is not real high. It begins with Kaleb
I had a very long day, so I only just watched the game, and came here to read comments. It's now almost twelve hours after the game started.
Not going to post what I had intended to post, it just isn't worth the trouble.
