Fran, you lost by 20, I think you have bigger issues to worry about than the refs
He’s got Iowaishman’s temper.

Yeah, it was probably the refs fault that Ahrens went off, cheatin fuckers! You gave up 90 points, pretty sure it's the D that's the fucking disgrace. Womp womp Fran
Enjoy your time off, Fran.
That face you make when you discover you're the topic of a Benwin thread...
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Or, that face you make when you haven't shit for three days. Somebody please Photoshop this. Please!
He looks like he is trying to crap a pinecone.
High and tight boo boo

To be fair, I think fans of every college basketball team has said these exact same words at some point this year. The refs have been awful. They need to be called out on it by big name coaches for change to happen. And by change I mean repercussions for the refs after horrible games.
Hope you don't think Fran is a big name coach.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Sounds like he would fit right in on a typical 11W game thread...
Damn Ben three threads in one day? You are officially back
He's taking his anger out on the wrong person.... the play by Nicholas Baer at the end of the first half changed the game. They were on 12-6 run and had a chance to go up 6 or 7 with like 2 minutes left and they got that flagrant and the made basket and the entire game changed. Bucks went on a 9-2 run from that point.. Total boneheaded foul on Nicholas Baer. Just awful..
He has been suspended multiple times while at Iowa, wouldn’t be surprised if this netted him another suspension. The whole night was a bad look for him
Fran would be right at home in South Carolina. Deer season is short, but bitching about the refs is in season 365 days a year.
That is why Frank Martin fits so well there.
Is he still there? I totally forgot that's where he went when he left the purple wasteland.
Come on Fran - a twenty point beat down and this is what your rolling with - how bout getting your team ready to play
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I have disliked Fran well before last night... but in fairness...Iowa has been coming back from double digit deficits late in games for the last 4-5 games... So the twenty point issue doesn't really apply IMHO ... At the time of his son's technical.. the game was right where Iowa is comforatable in coming back.. around 13 down with 4 to go...
The foul on his son, was a legit and obvious foul (He reached, and it was bad fundamental defense, really bad)... So his son 100 percent deserved a technical for complaining...
I will also say, I was thinking some of the same things Mcaffrey did about the refs... just in the first half... I really felt like the Refs, gave Iowa some home court like calls, on our home court...
Having watched McCaffery's sideline antics for a while, I wonder:
1. Why would any high-school basketball star willingly sign up to play for McCaffery?
2. How does a guy manage to get that worked up, and then avoid having a stroke? The blood vessels in his head must be made of kevlar.
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
Some players-and fans-like fiery coaches. Bobby Knight, Woody Hayes, John Cheney. I've seen plenty of 11W types screaming for more attitude from Holtman on the sidelines this year. Hoops coaches are more exposed in their personalities for good or for bad than just about any other sport.
John Chaney, you say? Yep, he had some fire.
Lifetime vs. UM: L 8-1, C 7-0, T 4-0
I remember when he threatened to kill Calipari in a press conference-that was awesome. FWIW, Cal is totally cool w/ Cheney-he wished him a happy birthday as a friend this year during a game interview and made a veiled, joking reference to the incident.
I don't give a damn for the whole state of Xichigan.
I was at the game, I am so surprised he doesn't get T'd up more often. He rides the Refs the whole game and said some spirited things tonight before the after game tongue lashing. He never said one word to his son about getting his Tech. Don't think the Refs didn't notice this, or won't remember this rest of season and BIG Tourney.
Fran should be happy tonight! It is probably the first time in basketball history that a father--son combination both got a T in the same game. Anyway---screw him! The Bucks played a great game tonight and looked like a different team than in the past. Don't let Fran's antics overshadow our win. We beat the living hell out of them! GO BUCKS!
Will be interesting to see if someone researches that.
Turns out that he and his wife got ejected from the same game back in 2006. Wow, dinnertime had to be a blast at that house.
That's called soulmates.
These refs were bad this game, they really were. But they were pretty much equally bad. Their crappy offensive foul calls in the first half on Kaleb Wesson plus the technical they gave to Holtmann were much worse calls than the technical on Fran Junior. Iowa melted down fast in the last ten minutes of the game and went full on Chernobyl in the last four.
"The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War
The officiating wasn't as bad as the Hawkeye defense. The one constant in an up and down season for the Hawks is their poor defense.
There decision to press for 3/4 of the court really left them vulnerable on the back end. If they defended the paint then Ahrens and guys were open for 3s. If they defended the perimeter Wesson was open in the paint. They didn't adjust at all.
It was interesting after Holtmann got his T, he went further down the bench and calmed himself and didn't engage the refs for a good 5 to 7 minutes, the McCaffery's just kept chirping and it ended up costing them a lot.
He must be a Michigan fan.
Fran's is the new Tom Crean. Crean 2.0.
I've contended that Holtmann needs to be a bit more of a dick in order to help out Kaleb Wesson and get the officiating back to even keel. But when you are a guy like McCaffrey, to officials, I'm sure he just becomes a tired old voice. And then there's a matter of respect with what he says and where he says it. The guy that does it all the time goes on mute. The guy that does it as the exception gets heard.
He does have to be careful. That is the second tech he has gotten this year on Wesson calls but I think the refs have been baiting him since the first one AND he went to the conference to see if he would do it again. I think with him doing it last night and then the officials actually looking like they started to call the game fairer the message they sent was "we can take you doing it in the arena during the game but complain to the conference and we will make you pay".
Wow, he really lost his mind on those refs !! You know, that kind of temper tantrum could result in him being called some pretty nasty names like ...... "Michigan Man" !!!!
I am pretty sure Holtman wanted his technical. I was watching the game with my son and I told him before they went to break that he was looking for one to make his point about Wesson. Sure enough, he gets it before the timeout is over. Holtman has a purpose in his actions. I like the guy.

Fran has always been a rude, loudmouthed embarrassment at Iowa, and probably before at Siena and wherever he was before that. I got the sense before the season that Iowa fans were thinking this was going to be his last season, and were relieved, until they started playing well. Now they are in a bit of a quandary, get rid of him after the best season he's had or keep explaining away his rants?
During the game one of the announcers made the comment that they thought it looked like Dylan sold his dad on the fact that he got elbowed. Then during his press conference, I believe Fran said that he "came over and told me what happened" so... maybe Fran Jr. screwed over Fran Sr. on that and left him hanging out to dry.
If this is in fact what happened, I would like to see the conversation after Fran goes back and watches the tape and sees there was no elbow.
Just came back here to correct myself after realizing that I named a McCaffery from TTUN instead of the correct inferior younger McCaffery, Conner.
I think we can all agree refs are absolutely horrible, in all sports, and seemingly getting worse each year. But I find it funny a team that leads the nation in free throw attempts for the year is whining about it. Calm down Fran, the officials are more than likely responsible for half of your wins this year if not more.
it goes to show how entitlements effects the mind. He and his team are so used to getting all the calls they believe they are getting screwed when commit legitimate fouls. Bad calls both ways last night as there always will be. I actually thought it was one of the more decent officiated OSU has had in Big 10 this year. if he sat down and watched the film objectively he would realize his team still got the better end of it.
"I think we can all agree refs are absolutely horrible, in all sports, and seemingly getting worse each year."
I'm not even close to agreeing with you on this. I'm a ref in another sport and know how hard it is. We always need more refs because they quit due to the harassing they get. Come join us and see how hard it is.
I was a head referee at a large volleyball tournament (122 courts in one building, 950 teams) a couple weeks ago. I had someone come up to me and the first thing he said was he didn't know anything about volleyball. Then he started to rip the ref. After listening to him for awhile, I asked him to be a ref and see what it's like. His exact words were "no way, I wouldn't want people yelling at me the way I yell at people". End of conversation. I was done with him.
Very average coach!
As I said elsewhere, he's got Bobby Knight's temper and Eldon Miller's caching ability.
He’s one of those coaches who is better at imtimidating refs than actually coaching. Complete asshole. As someone who has worked around their program when they are playing at OSU. I can say his program has taken on his personality.
Wow, he's like the complete polar opposite of Kirk Ferentz. Wont win any B1G COYs with that attitude buddy.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
It's disgusting watching all the Iowa fans try to change the narrative about the incident...The ref is from Ohio, he has a huge ego...excusing ANYTHING he did because he goes hard for his team. former players with the typical "I'd go to war for this man"...BS. The guy is a raging lunatic and his son is an overrated 4 star arrogant ass. Not sure how he can get 4 stars when all he can do is dribble. No dribble drive, no elite passing skills, His 3 point shot is flatter than my prom date (slight mound but really had to look to see). I have no problems with coaches that lose it on the sides and fight for their players but to follow a ref into the hall and continue it and attempt to intimidate and belittle is wrong. Suck it McCaffery, hold that L ( and suspension)
