Give me a Columbus team with those 3 as captains. Championship.
You're gonna need at least six more guys for captains.
Ignorance isn't bliss for the rest of us.
with Urban as coach
Feeding the ball to his beloved H position guys no less.
AAF - sure, but put Braxton Miller on an arena league team? Too much awesome to even keep stats.
God bless and go Bucks.
A team could win a game or two with those three on the roster for sure.
It would be great to see Braxton, Cardale, and DS get another shot on Sundays, but thinking the AAF isn't a bad place to shine either.
I will forever stop what I'm doing to watch that Braxton Miller spin move/TD run if it pops up anywhere my internet browser might take me.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I was in the stadium surrounded by Tech fans..... the looks on their faces was priceless
Life long fan of... The!
To be fair, it was probably the look on most Buckeye fans' faces, as well. The VT fans around me weren't even mad, more just in awe of what they just saw.
The comeback block by Zeke (shown in the pic) is awesome in it's own right.
Trust me! I'm an Engineer.
The spin was amazing but it doesnt hang with his td vs Penn State with the feet quicker than people should ever be.
But will he throw?
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
I wonder how Braxton's throwing arm is these days? A few years removed from his injury, perhaps it's time to remind the world what a threat he was behind center. The AAF would be a perfect stage for that.
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
Braxton or Cardale are about the only things that would make me watch one of these alternative leagues. Here's to hoping it happens...
At least the the refs are the same in the AAF, as in the NFL, so that's good - in the Jalin TD the back ref was signalling an emphatic incompletion to what was an obvious completion!!
My experience in officiating in any sport stops at the youth level, but when I'm reffing with a newbie, my first piece of advice is to make a call as if it's an absolute certainty and demonstrate it that way. Fans jump all over a timid ref SO LEAVE ME ALONE TIMMY'S DAD!
The official for Jalin's catch has 1 second to make a split decision. What would your reaction have been if he shrugged and haphazardly signals maybe it was an incompletion.
Pray for potatoes with a hoe in your hand.
After the Braxton spin move on Vatech, that's the point I thought we'd win every game in 2015 by 40 points. What a disappointing year.
We would've if Tom Herman had not left.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
I think we thought that way when we saw that.
2015 was a perfect example of coaches over-thinking too much and never letting the offense get into any type of rhythm. I remember listening to Urban's post game press conferences and thinking that the entire offense was predicated on trying to get a handful of guys 10 plus touches a game. With a QB like Cardale, OSU should have had a downfield passing game with crossing routes, post routes, verticals 3-5 WR sets and run Ezekiel Elliott about 25-30 times per game. For that team to miss the playoffs entirely is still a complete mystery.
For the entire season, using both Cardale and JT was a HUGE mistake. Settle on one of them and use their talents......
For the one game that we lost, Zeke Elliott getting so few touches in a tough MSU game is still incomprehensible to me
at the time, i thought that was the worst offensive performance i'd ever seen by ohio state............then came the clemson game.
I like the idea of Braxton. I don't see a reason for Cardale, though, unless he's cut. Being an NFL practice squad QB is not a bad gig and he makes more money than he would being a starter in the AAF.
"We talkin' about practice?!" -Allen Iverson 2002
I so want to see Cardale play again!!!
Any idea what a typical salary is like in this league?
Strength equipment is expensive & guarantees you nothing. A strong will is free & will give you everything you need.
All AAFL players sign 3-Year/$250,000 contracts ($83K a year) with performance bonuses. AAFL players also get bonuses for completing community service work so they probably make close to $100K a year when its all said and done. Biggest caveat is these contracts are non-guaranteed like in the NFL.
It would be awesome to see these great Buckeyes play football again on the same team! I wonder if there will be an over-saturated market for football with the AAF and Arena league football. The NFL will still be the preferred destination for top football talent coming out of college. I could see more undrafted free agents or players who get booted from teams with discipline problems playing in Arena or AAF until they get an opportunity with an NFL team. I guess the primary question is whether or not, there are enough quality coaches and players to make these leagues watchable over the long term?
I was thinking JT Barrett would be a good fit for the AAF. He never stood much chance in the NFL, and I don't know what the AAF pay looks like but based on the quarterback play I saw last weekend, JT could do well there.
Can someone please just convince the Columbus team to have all OSU players? The ratings would be great given the following most of these guys have after they leave the Scarlet and Gray. It would also give OSU the opportunity to not only showcase their talent in the NFL, but also in the AAF.
If you read up on the AAF, they have a smart way of assigning players for regional fan bases. They put players closest to where they went to college. A Columbus team would be a no-brainer in my opinion. The only draft they have is for quarterbacks. Everyone else is assigned to a team.
Gotta love it.
They need to sign with my Toronto Argonauts!
Comandeered - not sure this word means what the writer thinks it does. commandeered means to confiscate or take by force, so the sentence in the story could be rewritten to say "The man who confiscated Ohio State to and through the 2014 College Football Playoff deserves better than the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad.", that sentence does not mean Cardale lead the team, but effectively stole the team, sorry but just being that guy /s
Buckeyes rule the NFL. It'd only make sense for them to take over the AAF.
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Joey Bosa
If AAFL teams start signing affiliation contracts with NFL teams much like minor league baseball does for MLB, watch everyone who doesnt make an NFL roster or practice squad play in the AAFL. I'd pay money to see Dolo throw deep to Devin Smith again. In a heartbeat.
Would love to see them all get another chance in the NFL. One day at a time. Hopefully it may be a stepping stone to get another opportunity.
The only good thing about The Game is winning it - Urban Meyer
Super-stoked that Sprinkle is in the AAF. Go kick some ass, good sir.
As for adding more Buckeyes to the league? Hells yeah!!!
I think Cardale and Braxton both could end up in the Alliance in 2020. Neither are eligible for the practice squad anymore, so unless they make actual 53 man rosters this year, AAF is a real possibility.
XFL is out there too, but I think players are gonna lean towards the Alliance due to their loose affiliation with the NFL that is probably only going to grow.
Cardale is the perfect example of the need for a league like this. Ideally the NFL will eventually have teams loaning a few players out to this league. Cardale getting game reps every offseason would have been huge for his development. I think that’s eventually where the NFL/Alliance are headed, just a matter of how soon it happens.
