I’m glad to see Holtmann is gaining confidence in Andre...that will be big for us later this year as an upperclassmen and onto next year.
Big finish and Big Win. Keep the momentum up!
IP, I love your positivity.
Does that carry over into your profession?
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
yes, I have been told I am an eternal optimist....but I am usually a pretty positive person.
The Ohio motto resonates with IP, i’d Guess.
Are you a season ticket holder man? I enjoy reading your comments... And see a lot of the things you see. If Andre can become someone who is solidified third option behind his brother and either Luther/CJ... This makes us immensely better. Finding a way to win on a day we didn't score 60 was a great sign.
Thoughts moving forward... Hold serve on the home floor and beat Northwestern on the road, that should get us in. Anything more than that would be icing on the cake. A win at MSU or Maryland would bolster the seed line for sure. I like that where we are. Especially after walking to the truck from the Schot after that Purdue loss. My brother and I were pretty discouraged.
No, I live in Baton Rouge. I wish I lived in CBus but God has other plans.
I think we are in as of today as an 7-8 seed. I think if we can go 4-4 and win a couple in B1G tourney we are in for sure. Beat MSU or MD and we are a 6 seed.
I think we can do it, the question is can we keep our head up if we lose? I think so. Here’s to hoping we are dancing in March
Andre plays as hard as anyone on this team, his basketball IQ may be the best on this team He needs to be more aggressive on the offensive end and his defense is often overlooked, he can prob guard any position on the floor as in evidence of guarding Isaac Hass last year in a big win, I often watch him when he is on a guard in switches and he does very well.
Jackson sure does love ripping Indiana’s hearts out.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Jackson sure does love ripping Indiana’s hearts out.
Yeah. I don't understand 11W hoops writers' negativity about CJ:
But Jackson threw in a “prayer”
CJ has made those key treys repeatedly in the last few games and did it last year as well. This season he has made 40% of his treys. So you reasonably cannot call them flukes. As coach says . . .
“He has an incredible knack for that,” Holtmann said.
I'd like to see everyone, including 11W staff, stop with the negativity* about this. CJ is a streaky shooter, and his confidence is rising. Stop with the negative vibes, and stop raining on his parade.
* My practical side whispers: "Stop the negativity on 11W? Yeah, that'll happen." /s
CJ makes some big plays... but its also reasonable to say he makes some really poor decisions for a senior... dumb turnovers often.
Came through today though! Certainly not a better option.
I don't understand 11W hoops writers' negativity about CJ:
My apologies to 11W:
I heard Chris Holtmann call CJ's shot "a prayer," so I stand humbly corrected on that point.
Perhaps I should take it up with Holtmann . . . but seriously doubt he has time for it.
Heh, no worries. Just got home from Bloomington and was about to respond, but it looks like you noticed why I wrote that. Just used Holtmann's word.
That shot had maybe a 5% chance of going in, in my opinion. I’m not sure it even touched the rim, though. It was certainly a prayer type shot - when it went up my eyes went immediately to the players in the paint to see if we had a shot for the rebound. It would have dependended on how it bounced if we would have got it.
amazing shot, tho
I don't think anyone is ripping on the kid so much as everyone knows what we get with him. Has he hit these shots before? Yes. But for every one of these shots he has hit, he has inexplicably been unable to finish around the rim with almost wide open layups and floaters in the lane, and turns the ball over at an alarming rate. So basically, one day everyone that has their reservations about them end up with egg on their face (me included), but 5 other times everyones suspicions prove to be right. I'd like to see something like a WAR number for him that they use in baseball, I would bet it's negative.
they will be happy to see him gone
A prayer I was, but still pretty close to CJ’s natural push shot. Lol.
Andre has really stepped his game up recently.
Great game by Wesson’s... and C.J. Jackson! Hopefully CJ can handle the ball this Thurs against the Illini chaos.
Romeo Langford nearly rushed over and helped in time,
...and fouled Wesson on the hand as he was going in for the dunk, which should have been an And-1.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
I saw that too. His arm clearly moves in the slow motion replay as Langford swats at him. Shocked the announcers didn't mention it.
Not shocked. They avoided virtually any conversation on missed calls or questionable calls made
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Yeah, there seemed to be body contact, if nothing else, on that dunk. Sometimes refs let those go in the last few minutes.
But I wonder if that gets called if it were Indiana rather than OSU dunking it.
Would there have been a call if Andre had missed that shot?
This was an obvious foul. Then all slipped out of his hand. Just got lucky that he guided it home.
Read my entire screen name....
Too damn many poor lackluster passes which result in costly turnovers. Looking forward to next year with D J Carton coming in , a true point guard. Luther Muhammad was out of control numerous times. The “prayer” shot and the dunk saved the Bucks again.
Jack L Frysinger
Gutted out the win, played good solid D, rebounded, and made a decent percent of shots and tough basketball plays.....but if we cannot make better passes soon I am not going to make it through the season!!!
Another gritty tough win on the road. The B1G conference at times can be a sledgehammer.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Washington seems to be shooing with more confidence the last few games as well.
Great call, great coaching & great execution by CJ & AW!
Great W and great OP write up of the game. The picture of Luther mid air is the bomb. Man, I hope that young man sticks around for a few years to come.
If Indiana didn’t foul us on that inbounds we would have lost.
Buckeyes are still very young. The guys who will not be back next season, Jackson and Woods, have hit some great shots but have also had many terrible turnovers. It will be interesting to see what the team can do next season with two point guards who can get to basket and score, dish or get fouled. The remainder of this season depends upon eliminating turnovers and fouls on Kaleb but they got the talent to win a game or two in the NCAAs. But have to win four more to make it.
I don’t know how you can keep throwing lazy passes... we should have won by 15
The entire game I was muttering "Are we ever going to slip one of these ball screens?" Indiana was hedging higher and harder than any team I've watched in awhile.
Glad Coach Holt saved it for the right moment.
A tough win on the road. I will take it. We are a resilient team. It will be beneficial come tournament time.
The Schott needs to be sold out on Thursday when Illinois comes in. This team is turning the corner!
Dang straight... But it won't be... I am anxious to see where my seats will be... For those who are wonder, the Scarlet & Gray pass this year has been awesome. I will definitely renew next year if they keep it around.
Ha, ha. It won't even be close and that is without factoring in Valentine's Day. I am guessing about 15k in attendance (3700 short of a sell out) with a decent amount of Illini fans in attendance (they travel well).
I play, coach stays. He goes, I go.
And you'll have the chance to give Urban and the 2018 football team some love for the last time.
Class of 2010.
When I saw that last play unfold, I said to myself, about time we slipped a screen. I mean IU was hard hedging the ball screen all game and I couldn't believe we hadn't been doing that much. Kinda the same thing with the zone defense against PSU. I guess there is a fine line between over using it and saving it for a crucial time, but I can't help but think we could have been using that slip screen more all game since we were having such trouble with their bigs hedging.
Have some faith in the elder Wesson! This team doesn't really have a clear go-to guy, so the more guys you can trust in that situation, the better.
Great play drawn up, though I do have to wonder if that could have been exploited more earlier in the game. These games are taking some time off my life. Lol
