Cannot stress how big this is for Ohio State
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Huge. No depth on the OL and not a lot of proven starters.
Don’t forget the other perspective of which I have no problem with. If you can’t beat them, join them.
Nice to have the success and the brand. We will win most of these when we really want these kids.
Coach Day is filling in the pieces nicely. Clearing early hurdles that would otherwise haunt him during the season. Now, lets move to the next questions... regular recruiting (which looks promising), game and personel management (promising) to name a few...
You win with people.

Ryan Day is going turn into a Harvey Specter type closer
I believe in Harvey Dent Specter
All Glory is Fleeting
Ryan Day is on fire!
I absolutely love that show. Sorry, back on topic.
Huge get.. I’m not minding this free agency thing in CFB after all

Especially when we just landed the number 1 and 5 players on the country!! We may not have won a recruiting title this year but no one can deny how well we stacked our team during the off-season!!!
Our 2019 class is #3 based on stars average.
Not our fault we don’t have as many scholys to give this year.
Right. Regardless of that we found a way to stack our team despite finishing 16th or whatever overall.
Very nice get! Will definitely be a factor for us this season!
"The Edge is where average stops and elite begins"
This is big because it gives us 15 scholarship linemen with Woidke getting a scholly and now we are likely 3-deep at every OL position. Day has patched up the OL depth issue pretty quickly. Thank you Mr. Portal.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Like that he can play center. That was the weakest link in that line with very limited playing experience. Even if Myers starts the only true backup was Jones which was very problematic.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Boom. Scarlet Knight to the Scarlet and Gray.

Never get tired seeing this....

This is sooo important. And he has shown production being recognized in the Conference last year.
Munford, Meyers, Jackson, Davis, Bowen sounds like a nice OL to me.
Boy, I got vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals! - Butch Cassidy
Don’t forget Alabi and NPF...They are going to push for the other tackle spot
Huge because of the ability for Bowen to slide to OT now. If Jackson can play opposite of Davis at OG then all depth concerns are eliminated.
Kitties aren't supposed to smell like cigarettes, they're supposed to smell like kitties.
BOOM! Jackson is a terrific addition in an area of need. Go Bucks!
Rutgers losing even in the offseason. Sounds about right
Day is pretty good at this recruiting thing. Me likey.
They hate us cuz they aint us!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ryan Day just keeps winning. Gotta love it.

Let the Day Era officially commence at tOSU!!
This is a HUGE get for Ryan Day and shows he can go up against the likes of Oklahoma, Texas and Alabama and reel in those big (transfer) fish!! The OL is definitely one of the bigger areas of concern headed into 2019 and Jackson brings experience and talent to the OL Room that can step right in and be a huge addition!

I can't seem to be able to post a pic of Curly Howard but he and Stud are doppelgangers.

Your need to have Coach Day firing the gun with Buckeyes shooting out as bullets.
Allows Bowen to move to his more natural tackle position. Now I'm curious to know if he enrolls for second session which starts 2/27. That would make him eligible for spring ball.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
I think he graduates in May and needs to fulfill Rutgers graduation requirements to be a grad transfer.

Great addition for Ohio State. This guy was an honorable mention All Big Ten. He can provide some much needed depth at guard or center. Plus his family can see him play closer to home versus Oklahoma.
HM B1G at 1-11 Rutgers is probably second team B1G at 13-1 Ohio State. He's not coming here to provide depth.

New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
"Jackson could potentially be [is] a candidate to start at either guard or center."
Wow. Didn't really expect this one for no particular reason. Just didn't think it would happen. Big win for the staff. Welcome, JJ! No ragrets! (Sic)
Don't you mean "regerts?"
Ha! Ragerts, actually....I think. Maybe.
Glad to have landed him - that much is certain.
However for every action (Jackson) there may or may not be a reaction (potential transfer).
Who might be looking now that Jackson is in.
Just wondering. Hate to see any OL leave because we are so thin at that position.
Buckeye since 1952.
Jackson is the second player to join the Buckeyes from the transfer portal this offseason, joining former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields, who is expected to start for the Buckeyes at that position as long as he receives a legislative relief waiver from the NCAA.
Ohio State Quarterback Justin Fields Receives Waiver for Immediate Eligibility from NCAA - By Dan Hope on February 8, 2019 at 4:25 pm.
I am so very, very confused.
Bobbing for french fries.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed that
The juice is worth the squeeze
I think this article was pre-written several weeks ago - Jackson has been rumored to Ohio State for like, a month and a half, so they probably wrote the bulk of the article before the decision came down and just missed that reference when editing today.
Would you please explain . . .
former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields, who is expected to start for the Buckeyes at that position as long as he receives a legislative relief waiver from the NCAA.
A lot of us thought Fields was cleared (i.e., all hurdles removed) to play for OSU this season.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
this is still confusing me...... if fields cleared to play or not? asking for a friend.......
Don’t let one line in a pre-written 11W article confuse you.
As I mentioned just above, articles where you expect the result way in advance are usually pre-written so they can be turned around quicker and you just fill in relevant last minute information (who reported it, his actually date of commitment, etc). This is standard practice at pretty much all media outlets, because it makes it much easier to produce the article in a timely fashion.
The author/editor just missed the offhand “if Fields is eligible” reference during their last minute editing pass yesterday. Nothing to see here, just a typo.
“Megadeth >>> Metallica” - Alum 2019. I couldn’t agree more.
It's going to be a cultural shock for him. Going from the worst B1G team to the best.
He used to be Michigan's most competitive rival... now he's just going to crush them.
Also, He'll probably celebrate more offensive touchdowns in Piscataway this year than he did in an entire career there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How much eligibility does he have left? Just one year?
Also, this is a problem imo.
and in each of Greg Studrawa's first three seasons as Ohio State's offensive line, the Buckeyes have moved a guard with starting experience (Pat Elflein, Billy Price, Michael Jordan) to the apex spot on the offensive line.
Read my entire screen name....
Elflein and Price won the rimington award for nations top center. Hard to knock those two moves
emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt
Other than they were all American lineman no matter where they played. It similar to plugging a water leak with gum. We shouldn’t have to do that here and certainly not consistently.
Harry Miller will make it a non-issue. And Ryan Day has the necessary pieces to win a championship this season. Great move!
I agree they were all american lineman no matter where they played, no arguments there. I think thats actually why they were moved to center. You are talking about one of the most cerebral positions in football, one that carries a lot of responsibility. Wouldn't you want someone with the experience to make the necessary line calls? If you also look at the center position from a recruiting stand point very few kid come out as true centers, most are converted guards. I don't think its a perfect solution and getting someone to sign like Miller is preferable. However, imo being able to make the necessary line calls is the most important thing for a center and you are usually going to get that from a more seasoned player.
+1 in your future for the conversation
I don’t disagree with anything you said. My point is mainly that this is really not a sustainable strategy. A sustainable strategy would be recruit and develop a center. Or to recruit an OL and make the switch immediately to allow development of the nuisances you mention. I understand what you’re saying, but these moves year after year after year seem to be too unplanned and poorly strategized for a program of this stature. Nonetheless, +1s back at you.
Ryan Day always gets his man.
Center the most important line position in making the calls. Not sure not knowing a thing what we do will he get the center position? Plus just 6 games at the position snaps from the shot gun much to learn in a short time. Either way Day has a plan but my money says guard.
I agree with you. Jackson isn't going to be practicing until fall camp. I doubt they would put him at center with all the responsibilities that entails. Just line him up at guard at let him go maul people.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"

Captain. 3year starter. Great job coach Studrawa
How big of a boom would 305 lbs of TNT make?
This is an incredible get.
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."

That was the last game (2015) that Rutgers scored a touchdown against the Bucks. I'm not kidding.
Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.
Besides Fields, this is THE most important return/addition of any player this offseason. Our OL depth was fragile and this helps tremendously. Throw in the fact he is a high character guy and this becomes a massive win
Anything you want you should have
Who got the booms? We got the booms.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Big addition...literally, figuratively.
Congratulations to Jonah Jackson.
If you think WE’RE stoked... how excited do you think HE is??? Going from Rutgers to Ohio State is a dream come true! Great pickup!

Doesn't this put us at 86 scholarships?
Would you prefer he change his mind?
The soldier is my son. The school I gone to didn’t teach much grammar.
Nope, 87. Don't sweat it.There will be attrition. there is every year. If it bothers you maybe following football isn't for you.
If the attrition comes from the O-Line, which it may very well considering there are now three 5th year seniors for probably two open spots, this may not actually help us. Asking who leaves is a fair question.
Don't think he asked.
So tell me, who on the OL might leave?
I’m Fair, I inferred that. If we’re above the limit and someone needs to leave, a non-starting RS SR is a likely candidate. The two on the o line are Alabi and Bowen. If one of them leaves, our depth isn’t better. Could the Rutgers guy be better than them and make our starting lineup better? Possibly, but that’s far from a guarantee. The Rutgers guy had more opportunity to start and that gave him a better opportunity to get a BIG honorable mention because his competition wasn’t as good as it is at OSU. If he wins the job, I have no problem with that. Best man should start, but our depth won’t be any better.
So now we're down to 2 RS SRs? Whatever. Your scenario isn't something that worries me in the least.
If his arrival causes a rsSr to transfer out (and aren't there only 2 - Alabi and Bowen?) Then even if depth isn't helped, then the result is likely a marginal upgrade in quality without a loss in depth from where we were.
I won’t disagree with that. I was thinking about the depth perspective, but you’re absolutely right about it being a likely upgrade to the starting lineup if he wins.
so who is leaving????
Mark May is a mental midget
I was thinking the same but someone always leaves and the one I thought would be a tranfer is kicking ass they say.
Imagine how excited this young man must feel right now... to go from Rutgers football debacle to a program that has the potential to win the B1G Championship and make it to the CFP. Not to mention being on a much bigger stage to get NFL team's attention! Welcome to the Buckeye Nation Jonah!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
The move to center with OSU experience is one thing, but to thrust a transplant and expect him to bloom with only shallow roots, yikes. Me no like it. Josh Meyer, if you’re listening, A window that closes is hard to open. It’s better to dam Harry Miller as runoff vs a raging river.
Welcome to Buckeye football Mr. Jackson.
What the fuck are you even talking about?
1. The history of moving experienced (OSU) players to play center has been beneficial (Elflein, Price, Jordan). But moving a new player from another program has much more to overcome to play the leader position of the line. 2. Josh Myers needs to step up. It’s his time. 3. Harry Miller is going to be a dominant force. If Myers fails to establish himself in the lineup now while Miller is a freshman, staving him off as a sophomore will only be more difficult. 4. Glad Jackson is here to hopefully compete as a guard.
I kind of agree wkth this in that he needs to learn a new playbook but I also vehemently disagree as an HM all American should be adept at reading defenses and making calls as needed. He’s been seeing the same opposing defenses we have for more years than most of our pups.
Also as a grad transfer let’s admit the course load is different and he should have plenty of time to study the playbook
Former team captain under Ash, all conference honorable mention last season, YES SIR!
This is a HUGE get for Coach Day!
It's the plan. For a guy who is serious about his development as a person it is the plan that sells them.
This is huge news, and will definitely help the o line. I wad expecting Jackson to go to Oklahoma. Glad that day was able to get him. Feel much better about the line moving forward.
Boom. Experience and depth.
HUGE BOOM! HUGE!
Welcome aboard Jonah!
15-1 is SWEET!
Good job for Stud...
Spooner must be #mad in the premium lounge
Eff yeah! So what is everybody's projected starting lineup? I'm just hoping NPF starts right tackle....
I posted this in another thread about the entire 2-deep, but this is what I would like to see for the O-Line:
LT: Thayer Munford / Josh Alabi
LG: Jonah Jackson / Matthew Jones
C: Josh Myers / Harry Miller
RG: Wyatt Davis / Brandon Pahl
RT: Brandon Bowen / Nicolas Petit-Frere
Urban Meyer, undefeated (7-0) VS ttun | Ryan Day, undefeated (2-0) vs ttun
*As always, In (Urban) Ryan Day I Trust! There is a plan, even if we cannot see it right now!
God, Family, Guns, Country, and Sports!
Is it football season yet? All the pieces seem to be falling in place for Day to keep the train going full steam ahead, I haven't been this excited about a team since probably 2012. Going to be hard having patience this summer.
Boom! We got all the pieces needed. Now let's see Day & Co put them all together to win a championship.
Great get for Day and Co. My prediction is Jackson starts at LG (and he'll be a significant improvement from Malcolm Pridgeon there) and they keep Myers at center. Davis and Munford are secure in their spots and Bowen, Alabi, and NPF are all competing for the RT spot. Boom! I like the look of that offensive line as long as everyone stays healthy.
Awesome news!! These transfers could make a huge difference this season. Can't wait to see it all come together this fall.
I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
Big time BOOM!! Much needed depth for the offensive line! Love it!!
We will fight to the end for OH-IO!
Welcome aboard, good sir.
Let Myers have his time at Center please!! Jackson can be an option at G or Tackle
does Jackson participate in Spring practice?
This is good. Get the best 5 out there
Welcome, Jonah Jackson!
Huge! Another Studwara Special!
Welcome young man. Hoping you joining us is mutually beneficial. I believe it will be. Glad we're going to win some championships together. B1G then National.
WOW. This just made my day. Let’s get us a National championship!
Nice addition, my concern would be losing someone to transfer. Just can't see some guys (Bowen and Meyers taking another year on the bench). That brings up another thought tOSU was at 86 scollies? Is this 87? Who's leaving?
Bowen is a RS-Sr I think... I wonder if he can/will apply for a Medical RS? But you are right, I think they know someone is transferring especially since they went ahead and place Woidke on a scholly!
One of the biggest transfer gets available at the position of most need right now. This is HUGE...welcome aboard, Jonah.
Class of 2010.
