Hate to say but I don't think he is coming to Ohio State, which is a bummer.

Go Bucks!

HS
Defiance's picture

Just curious, what makes you think he's going elsewhere?

Something you read or heard or just a gut feeling?

While we're on the topic, any hunches on Nester or Vihami?

"Defiance in Silence"

Shhhh

HS
Ohbucksclan20's picture

Should have added it is a gut feeling. I hope my gut feeling is wrong this time. Nester I have no idea on. Vihami I think goes to USC.

Go Bucks!

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

So you have no idea on any of these is what you're saying?

HS
Ohbucksclan20's picture

That is why they call it a gut feeling. Downvotes for stating an opinion? Wow!!!

Go Bucks!

HS

DV's are just a click on a website, don't let it bother you.

Nothing wrong with a gut feeling or a hunch. Just remember opinions are like assholes, everyone has one most of them stink.

Here's a +1 to offset them.

I guess it would be helpful if you mentioned some information that leads you to believe this. Honestly not trying to be a jerk. If you said you had a gut feeling because of some insider reporting or something you read it would go over a lot better than just saying you have a gut feeling based on nothing.

Man people grumpy for being a friday. Reading some of the other articles and forum comments, it's ok to give your opinion about who's on the team's and might transfer, but get down voted to oblivion if you give it on a recruit who's not even here yet. +1 to offset

Seems like a strange time to announce. WTF is he going to do all day? Flip coins? To me he seems a bit immature and enjoying the spotlight, which I guess is ok for a young kid. To me this just says head case and makes me wonder.

Bobcat66

HS
KBonay's picture

Maybe he has school?  And they won't let him make his announcement until after classes.  Or maybe his parents work, and want to be a part of his big day?  But to go straight to head case?!

HS

Good points. perhaps I was a bit hasty although I still think it is outside the norm.

Shouldn't jump go conclusions. It could be the school having a ceremony for everyone signing that day or it could be TV related to air it live.

***BREAKING NEWS***

The Miami Heat have decided not to accept LeBron James' intention to sign to play for them, after determining that his decision to hold a televised announcement in the evening was indicative of "immaturity" and being a "head case".

HS
cledaybuck's picture

indicative of "immaturity" and being a "head case".

It kind of was.  Of course, it doesn't matter when you have the talent of LeBron James.  I don't think any of these guys quite have that talent.

HS
Mastro16's picture

“Head cases” win championships! And are 5th all-time in scoring!

HS
cledaybuck's picture

Maybe head case is to strong, but LeBron is a bit of a flake when it comes to committing to an NBA team.  And the decision was pretty naïve/tone deaf. Plenty of other great players have their issues from Rodman to Kobe to Kyrie.  Doesn't make them any less talented.  And usually, completely worth it.

HS
jrich612's picture

LeBron makes business decisions regarding who he plays for. He has always done things and made decisions that benefit him and his brand. Don't know why people don't get that or get mad about it, that is how teams have operated for decades. No loyalty to players but players are supposed to be committed and loyal.

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

I think that's the issue some people have with Lebron, especially in comparison to a guy like Jordan. Jordan's brand got huge but it was mostly because the way he played and wanted to win at all costs inspired people. If he had teammates who didn't play up to expectations he willed them (and sometimes drove them crazy) so they would be winning teammates. This brought out great respect from them even when they were on the end of some of that harshness.

Lebron inspires no love from his teammates because, despite being one of the best to ever play, they know he will throw them under the bus to get what he wants to better his brand and his position. Jordan cared about winning 1st and his brand 2nd. Lebron cares about his brand 1st and winning 2nd. I have no problem with Lebron not being loyal to an organization, but if you're not going to be loyal to anyone but yourself you will get the same back.

HS
Dstacify's picture

That's one thing they can do. They can also do what Antonio Brown is doing and set off a nuke in their own locker room.

We will see. He would be an amazing pick up for sure. It'd be like signing The Mountain and then having Marotti make him even stronger. Scary thought...

HS
2002osubuck's picture

How many spots do we have for this class now with the early entries and transfers?

HS
analyticalguy's picture

After transfers in and out, and not including a "committed" Nester, I believe there are two open spots now. (9 graduating seniors, 6 early departures to NFL plus 2 transfers out yields 18 spots, less 15 signed and one transfer in).  I'm guess there may be as many as 4 more coming in, allowing us to anguish being "over," even though it's pretty much a certainty that a couple guys will be leaving by summer - 5th year guys either not offered that 5th year or who transfer out based on the results of spring practice, or some other random player who feels buried too deep on the depth chart. .

HS
awlinBrutus's picture

when those 5th year guys stay usually good things happen. I hope Hilliard sticks it out. Tressel always said you need a few seniors to have career seasons to win championships and big games. specifically the "Game".

MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS

HS
analyticalguy's picture

There's a (relatively) large senior class next year, so that shouldn't be an issue. I can't blame a guy if he wants a better chance to start his final year.

HS
actionstanleyjackson's picture

I think it is going to end up being IU.

HS
BuckFanInRichmond's picture

Birm said he thinks Nester is leaning towards Penn State. He said up until last week when he visited Penn State Jones was all OSU but not sure any more. He does think Vimahi will sign with OSU.

HS
Ohbucksclan20's picture

Personally would rather have nester, only because of the mission. I don't like the mission trip where he is gone for two years. I understand it from a religion and personal standpoint though.

HS
SackMan's picture

There is a little proof that that title actually belongs to Dabo Sweeney

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

Dabo telling Carman that Urban would retire soon was a slimy move. Of course then Urban retired within a year, which now sort of puts my brain in pretzel. Maybe Dabo has powers against OSU - it can't be ruled out. Obviously Dabo had no clue that would happen but just kind of funny that he ended up being correct. Dabo doesn't have to be as shady as Franklin anymore. I hate him but he's won real titles. Franklin hasn't done much of anything outside of having a 2-loss team that won a B1G title. He has to get by on selling the moon.

6:30 p.m. on NSD does seem like an odd time. There could be a plethora of reasons: parents' work schedules, his school and basketball practice schedules, etc. But it also makes me wonder if it allows him to see how each of his top schools do, i.e., if Nester and/or Vimahi pick Ohio State, maybe that eliminates the Buckeyes; if Nester picks Penn State, maybe that eliminates the Nits; if Vimahi picks USC, maybe that eliminates the Trojans, and so on for the other schools. There's a lot to be said for that kind of strategy--why go to a school where the roster is overloaded with recruits at your position? That's not the case with Ohio State right now but it could change by 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

HS
actionstanleyjackson's picture

I don't think they affect each other. Jones is the only legit tackle of the bunch. Nester and Vimahi are most likely guards. Depth on o line dictates that all three guys are really needed included Jackson from Rutgers.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

HS
iowabuckeyes's picture

Sure, we can assume all that but we don't know what recruits are thinking. I mean, these kids aren't naive and know not all the sweet little nothings coaches whisper in their ears can be completed trusted.

Under the "which of these is not like the others?" category, Indiana is an odd finalist. I can't help but be reminded of another big Indy OL, Timothy Gardner, who signed with Ohio State in 2013 but never made it to his first fall camp after some traffic related incident got him booted from the team and he ended up at Indiana.

Re: Jackson, how is it that an Honorable Mention All-B1G offensive guard is ranked the 5th best player in the transfer portal? Is it because he played for Rutgers and would've been first team all B1G if he'd played somewhere else? In which case, why not just go pro?

Jones has some interesting things to say about psu in Birm’s update.

“Nothing really changed,” he said when asked about his recruitment after his official visit at Penn State. “It just really opened my mind after the Penn State visit. I’ll be making my decision on the sixth.”

Asked to clarify what the Lions did that was so “eye-opening,” Jones, couldn’t pinpoint anything specific, instead he says it was about understanding that despite being kind of in the middle of nowhere, Penn State’s campus feels a lot like other college campuses.

“They showed me a really good time,” Jones said. “Penn State ain’t that bad.”
