I would love for the Eagles to snag Dre'Mont Jones to put in the DT rotation, and Michael Jordan would be an epic fit given that the interior of the OL is completely savaged with injuries.
So proud to see our Buckeyes a. making their dreams come true, and b. representing the university so positively and showing everyone what being a Buckeye is all about.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Looks to be another busy spring for the pro hopefuls out of Columbus.
I'm thinking Terry McLaurin is gonna have a long successful NFL career - his skill sets match perfectly to be a difference maker.
Here we come dabo !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Seattle Sounders 2019 MLS Champions
He is gonna hang out as a #4 WR and special teams guy for a long time in the league
These team first guys are not always the easiest to find. Once they find them - they stick.
Im with you buckeyejay...He will get his playing time. He isnt a WR1 but he will get time in rotation and someone will keep him for his speed for sure!
Ohio born and bred- "Nothing that comes easy in this world is worth a damn" - Woody
I also expect Mclaurin to have a blazing 40 time around 4.4-4.45.
I think McLaurin may surprise a lot of people. He’s a complete player- receiver, blocker, spec teams gunner- with strong character and work ethic. He could have a better career than some of his more highly touted teammates.
Thanks Coach Meyer. A new Day has dawned. Go Bucks, beat ttun!
I can see him turning out to be a ST specialist like Matthew Slater for the Patriots.
Looked it up, here’s the thing. Matt has made close to $18M for his ST work and multiple Pro Bowl as a ST guy. Everybody can’t be the man, but If you can be versatile, there’s an increased chance you stick!
Jack of all trades, master of none isn’t the worst thing to be in the NFL. I believe part of Braxton’s issues (aside from limited experience @ WR) is that he has a speed and electric label, with not a lot else to offer (right now).
With so much $ now at stake, looks like there’s a shift in thinking by NFL personnel to buy stubstance (looked deeper under the hood), instead of the shiniest, sleekest, biggest, strongest, and fastest car (player).
I’mrooting bigtime for McLaurin to step out of the shadows.
It's all about getting in the right system and QB
THIS. I imagine M Thomas was pissed by not being a 1st rounder, but is NOW okay that he landed in NOLA where he has Brees and is the featured WR where he’s showing out!
As a 2nd rounder and with his 3 year production on a 4 yr contract, I believe he’s now eligible to negotiate an extension at season’s end. As noted these days, it’s all about getting to the 2nd contract!
What if he’d ended up in Minnesota w/ Cousins, Jets with Darnold, or Rosen in Arizona, would he still be a Pro Bowler or a NFL All Pro. Asking this question isn’t saying or implying that he’s not good regardless, it’s just my co-signing that YES, system and QB matters, as does WR skills aside from speed.
It helps that Campbell is bigger than most people realize and should measure 6'1 200+ lbs and run a sub 4.4
Could you imagine him playing in NE? Or any place where they get the ball out quick
I heard Percy Harvin played the Paris Campbell position!
Curtis Samuel position*
Hoping Cleveland picks up Dre'mont and Campbell. Mclaurin will have a great NFL career you can Book IT!
Cleveland could use a WR, though I feel like we need that Julio Jones/Megatron type guy that comes around once every 30 years...
yes I agree we could use that type of WR as well, I haven't paid much attention to other draft prospects beside the buckeyes but I would like to see us get a top receiver this draft. I think we could go DT first round, then back to back WR so maybe get the prototype receiver first then get Campbell in the third round if he is still there.
Everyone wants "that" guy
Dre'mont would be a ton of fun to watch with Garrett and Ogbah. And having Campbell along with Calloway, the Browns would have two of the fastest receivers in the league. I'd be down for that.
That was my thinking exactly, I think Campbell as a slot receiver would be really good for the browns. Then adding jones to that d line, would put us in the top tier in the NFL for defensive line talent. I think campbells speed running short crossing routes is enough to help landry and calloway get open more.
Garrett, Ogbah, Ogunjobi and Jones would be a pocket destroying front 4. Lacking a bit of beef at the DT position if Jones and Ogunjobi are on the field together though. While I think OT is a MUCH bigger need in rd 1 (rolling with Robinson scares the crap out of me), but drafting Jones would certainly take the front 7 pass rush to another level.
Everything that happens-good and bad-should motivate you to be persistent. ~JT
I’m hopeful for Dixon, I have been pulling for him a long time after so many injuries. One of my favorites.
I still think Bosa goes #1 overall to Arizona. Haskins would seem likely to go at 6 (NYG) or 7 (JAX) at worst, unless someone trades up.
Kiper and others recently reporting Jags not looking like they will go QB in first round ( unless they trade back) Thinking being this season was a blip and they just need to replace Bortles ( most likely via Free Agency instead of someone learning on the job).. Flacco and Foles being the targets...
The Ohio State NFL factory just keeps on producing with no slowing down in sight.
I'm no good with crystal balls...but any chance we can FINALLY get a Buckeye or two in team of the Beloved Bear? For one: Nuernberger could ONLY be an upgrade.
They had a great kicker and let him go
Be sure to retweet the bad take on Campbell after his 40. Rub it in.
Any chance DreMont evolves into the DE....that I always thought he should be? With Chase Young and Bosa, he was relegated to tackle, but I thought with Bosa's injury, he was miscast (yet still played well) as a DT. Thoughts on this?
He always seemed like more of a 3-4 DE to me too.
I have been of the opinion he will more of a DE the NFL. Always seemed a bit light to be a true interior run stuffer against NFL interior Offensive linemen. I have no doubt he will find a spot where he will excel one way or another.
I expect all of these players to wind up on the Saints' roster in the next 3 years.
On the run from Johnny Law...ain’t no trip to Cleveland.
I'd love to see Dre'Mont lined up next to Geno if the Bengals were to draft him. That being said I think LB and OT are bigger priorities for us and OSU doesn't really have great prospects at either of those positions coming out this year (Prince is clearly not a first-round prospect at this point). However if Haskins falls to us at 11 (not likely) we need to take a deep look at him at the very least.
Fwiw, kiper’s mock 1.0 has those first names in his first 32 picks.
Kiper is showing 4 Buckeyes in the first round
1. Bosa AZ
6. Haskins NYG
30. D. Jones LA Rams
32. Campbell GB
Its not unreasonable to see Buckeyes at picks number 1 and 2. Bosa at 1 and a team trading up for Haskins at number 2.
When Kyler Murray gets measured at 5'7" at the Combine, I think AZ will announce they're taking Bosa. I definitely see the Giants trading up to get Haskins. I think OSU will for sure have two top 5 picks in the draft. One player on each side of the ball. Amazing for recruiting here.
They hate us cuz they aint us!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Personally, I'm really glad for all the guys coming back when they could have declared.
If Parris can run in the 4.3's and tests out well, he could be a 1st rounder but I think he is likely a 2nd rounder and would be a steal in the 3rd
Guys like McLaurin and Dixon will find a spot on NFL squads because of their outstanding special teams play.
I know the Steelers like to take Big Ten players. McLaurin could replace Brown and his worsening licker room cancer.
Still think Bosa might fall a few spots. Injury doesn't help, his brother doesn't help and coaching turnover in Arizona has them moving to a 3-4.
Agree Haskins and Jones seem like the other locks for first round. Paris seems like the guy who could skyrocket up boards with a great pro-day and combine...
I'm still in the Haskins drops a bit camp. Not on talent just because it's an odd year. Barring any teams moving up there just aren't a lot of teams in the top 12 who are going to take QBs... you have guys like Foles and Flacco that are going to land somewhere and potentially make it even fewer teams.. you have teams like the Giants and Bengals who might not give up on their QBs his draft... and then it's the NFL.. teams always get zeroed in on guys at QB for different reasons that aren't the guys everyone is talking about. Look at just last year. Just about every draft board guru had some version of Rosen, Allen and Darnold... Baker was an after-thought... but he was the Browns guy from the get go. Allen was told by everyone around him he wouldn't go lower than #4 and he hung around till #7. Even worse for Rosen dropping till #10.. Point being you get one wild-card in the top 10 at QB and everyone gets shifted down..
Love to see Weber on the Falcons or Packers or some other team that drinks and dunks to the RB a lot. Should have a solid career imo..
Last but not least Sheffield.... there's track speed and then there's football speed... he's got track speed. Pop in all the long plays against the defense this year and he never tracked anyone down. Some of those plays he had 50,60, 70 even 80 yards to do so and he never did it. I just never saw elite speed from him on the field.
Rooting for all these guys!!!!!!!!!
A lot of good points in your post; but unsure what you mean by "his brother doesn't help". Joey has been everything the Chargers could have possibly hoped for: 28.5 sacks and 35 tackles for loss in 33 starts! One could point to his injury history, but I would argue that given the way Joey was treated by management (I live in San Diego and Chargers management/ownership is the f'ng worst), that Joey has been intentionally "judicious" when it comes to playing through injuries.
Contract holdout... same agency for both Bosa's = CAA... and I get Spanos has been pretty awful but it still comes down to playing games. Joey has only played 35 of the 50 possible games he could have played as a Charger. That's just a red flag that a least a handful of teams will factor in when thinking about taking Nick... That's one game short of missing a full season.. Talent through the roof and performing when he plays but again got to be on the field..
It's always tough to decipher if it's player or agency or both that keeps dudes off the field but again it's the same agency for Nick..
With their refusal to negotiate on offset language, Joey's holdout was entirely of the Chargers own devise. Therefore he missed the first 4 games of 2016 not because he was hurt, but because the coaching staff wouldn't play him until they deemed him game-fit. If given a "redo", would they have taken DeForest Buckner, with 20 sacks in 45 games? Shaq Lawson, with only 10 sacks in 35 games?
This season even raised more questions regarding management/coaching/medical. Joey originally hurt his foot on August 7, but virtually no one knew about the injury until he began missing games (officially Joey was said that he was going to fact start the season), and then all of a sudden he misses more than half the year?? This suggests a botched diagnosis/treatment more so than CAA's marching orders to not play (although no longer the team doctor, the San Diego team doctor was a documented QUACK).
We at least agree on
Again, how or why they got there is irrelevant to teams thinking about Nick.... it's just human nature to think maybe the same sort of stuff might happen with Nick that happened with Joey... It's an ownership community... you'd be hard pressed to find any owner who thought the Chargers did anything they shouldn't have done ( we can argue that for sure)... just takes one person in a front office to think "did Joey ever take a game off because his agent asked him to?"... once you even start down that line of questioning it will apply to Nick because brother and same agency...
And I don't think he'll drop 10 spots.. I just think he's penciled in at #1 in every draft and I won't be shocked if he goes 2-4 because a team or two has concerns... again, wether those concerns are justified isn't the point... You get one person in a room who doesn't want a guy and more often then not all the talent in the world doesn't keep that guy from being left off that teams board...
Dear Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals,
Draft as many of them as possible. You can't go wrong with a Buckeye. Ask Sean Payton. Oh wait, he's too busy preparing to go the Super Bowl.
It's a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio... and TTUN still sucks.
