Thanks for the reminder - I forgot to record this one, now I can get someone to do it.

Go Bucks!

For a .500ish team, Rutgers looks tough on paper.

Buckeyes are going to have to work to earn this one at home.

I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...

Damn they are a tall team, something that can hurt the Buckeyes. Out hustle them and shoot a decent % will be enough to grab a win on the road.

Yup.  Two keys:  Kaleb stays out of foul trouble;  we need a good shooting night from the outside as there won't be much inside the paint.

^^^This^^^. Our outside shooting has to become a respected threat.

I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!

HS

To win, Buckeyes must:

  • Defend and rebound well vs taller team, limiting 2nd chance points.
  • Keep fouls from limiting OSU minutes, especially bigs
  • Shoot about 45% FG or better
  • Value the ball / Make good (extra) passes
  • Not take foot off gas if/when they get up by 9 points or more

Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !

Didn't see the usual notice that the game will be televised on BTN.

First and goal at the five and Arch is getting the ball.

I pulled this off of ESPN's website and it lines up with what is in my local paper;

Stay out of foul trouble and knock down some outside shots.  Do that, easy win.  Don't, grind it out win/potential upset.

Class of 2010.

Learn for your short comings in the MSU game (rebound positioning, focus on making close-in shots, etc.) and bring the heat tonight @ Rutgers. Bring home the win!

Tough game with Sparty.  Make the adjustments and beat Rutgers!

This is going to be a tougher game that what you would normally expect when you see "Rutgers" on the schedule.  I'm sure Holtmann has the team's attention and I hope they take care of business tonight.  Rutgers typically doesn't draw very well so there could be a noisy contingent of OSU fans there, a s I seem to recall happened the first time we played in the RAC.  Get that W and then get ready for a totally different kind of game Saturday @Iowa.

I have great faith in Holtman and this team. But these next five games will be very tough!

Think this is gonna be an ugly one, hopefully we come out on the winning side. On paper this our most winnable road game left, which is kind of scary in and of itself.

the empire never ended

Good analysis at Rutgers fan site:

As a team, the Buckeyes are shooting 46.7% from the floor, 36.7% from three-point range, and 72.5% from the free throw line. They’ve scored less than 75 points just once in their past seven games. They are a well balanced team, ranking nationally 33rd in adjusted offensive efficiency and 22nd defensively. They are allowing only 63.9 points per game and holding opponents to just 39.2% shooting from the field. Ohio State is very effective at getting to the free throw line, with 22.5% of its points per game coming from the charity stripe.

Rutgers coach on his team:  “We’re moving in the right direction offensively. We’re running a bit more. We need to stay out of foul trouble and find someone that can be consistent knocking down threes. I like the way the rest of the team is progressing. We need our guys to keep shooting the ball and good results will happen for us. We have that capability; we just need to put it together.”

That site says Rutgers need to shoot >40%.   C'mon Buckeye Defense!

Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
