uSECa Today at it again smdh
I wonder how the BRR sees things?
Fields of Dreams
I love when OSU is the underdog! Just remember 2002/2014 and all the other times people doubted us.
Are we supposed to be favorites? We don't even know who are QB is going to be
We don't even know who are QB is going to be
Nobody is ever going to know who are QB is.
That doesn't matter. Both our options are elite and yes we should easily be ahead of Georgia.
They have six B1G teams ranked and five sec teams. That doesnt seem real biased to me.
What’s up with TUN’s busted jalopy ass doing ranked right behind us at 7? Is this some kind of a joke?
Good thing we have these way too early polls to make up for the slow news day.
High and tight boo boo
Is Patterson in the lead for the September Heisman?
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
NIce to see Cincinnati finish the season ranked in the AP. Wonder if they'll remain ranked heading into the season? WOuld give our OOC a nice boost, although our conference schedule is pretty tough.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Media loves those southern schools - shocking.
Do these voters even watch college football?
Georgia? They are losing everyone.
Fighting the good fight in SEC country. "Our honor defend"
GA's recruiting classes have been great.
Georgia's recruited very, very well the past few seasons.
So then... they have a coaching issue?? Great recruiting and 3 losses?
Could you imagine the shit tOSU would get for losing 3 games?
Just not keeping them, amirite!? Lol
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
4-5 would work for me.
Worth noting that ND and UGA play each other early next year. So even if we’re behind one or both we’ll have a chance to move up.
If ND follows their pattern under Kelly they will go about 6-6 or 7-5 next year, so I'm not too worried about them screwing everything up again.
Given what they have to work with at this point (2018 record, post-season results, players that each team loses/returns, and recent recruiting), it's probably hard to be too critical of the results - other than how the hell can Georgia be a consensus #3? I just think it's silly to have these polls in the first place.
I had the same takeaway. Most teams outside the top 5 or 6 feel like random dart throws, but UGA a consensus #3 just makes me shake my head. They just capped a season losing to the 3 best teams they played, and have about an average mix of returning/lost players. They've recruited well for sure so the cupboard is definitely stocked, but they were clearly overrated this year and looks like it is going to take several more 3+ loss campaigns for everyone to wake up and realize this is still the same UGA that it has been for the last 3 decades.
I didn't come away from the Alabama-Georgia game thinking "Wow, Georgia is better than I thought." It was more like "Alabama is not as good as the hype," and the shellacking they got from Clemson only reaffirmed that judgement. No way is Georgia the third best team in this country or any other.
Kirby Smart has to be the WORST HC of any major program. He ALONE should account for a 3-4 spot decrease in rankings. The utter shit show of losing Fields to OSU should be enough to ice his departure from UGA especially after that annihilation by Texas.
Georgia has been the most overrated team since Herschel Walker matriculated there. They always used to begin the season highly ranked, then the losses would trickle in and they'd finish around 10th. These days, though, they get credit for losing. I just don't understand it.
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
I don’t either. They’re perennial choke artists. Most “underrated?” Wisconsin by a country mile. Next to OSU, NO program in the country has been more solid over the last three decades or so. And yet, where are they in the polls?
Who else do you put there? Osu loses their starting qb, 4 olineman, 3 receivers, a rb, and their hc is being replaced by a first ever hc. There are pry a lot of people shaking their head with osu at 4.
USA Today is bad and should feel bad.
Who even reads a newpaper anymore?
The graphs make me feel smart.
I find it interesting that Iowa is ranked 16, 16, & 18 and ESPN doesn't even have them in the top 25.
My favorite team? Whoever is playing TTUN.
Nebraska gets more love than ScUm
This is great Kevin, but sheesh, do yourself a favor and keep your filler content for slow days! :)
Pray for potatoes with a hoe in your hand.
I'm praying there will be more opportunities for filler content down the road lol
So you have a lot of it lined up, do you?
How high will Army go up after they pummel U of M? Can't freakin' wait!
I'm wondering how Army makes the top 25 on several lists. I'll love to see them pummel Michigan, but should even that put them in the top 25?
ESPN: 50 percent of Top 10 comprised of SEC teams.
Despite just a 6-6 record in bowl games, the SEC is already--and will likely continue to be--overrated next year.
That’s why it’s not worth it for me to root for Michigan to defeat an SEC team because it does not matter anyway
As Flavor Flav used to say...
Don't believe the horse pucky, or something like that.
Ohio State is in the mix, it's a brand new Day.
"Don't believe the horse pucky, or something like that"
Very close, Hove.
Ranking Georgia who got demolished by Texas ahead of Ohio State? Really?
Ranking Texas who hasn't come close to making the playoffs ahead of Ohio State? Really?
It looks pretty clear that there is a bias against Ohio State. They finish #3 this year and they get ranked them as low as #6?!?
It always seems impossible until it's done.
We’re also losing our QB and Head Coach. And we don’t know if our planned new QB will even be eligible. So it’s not too outrageous.
Our new HC is 3-0 with 4 great years of recruiting from the #3 ranked team.
I haven't heard anyone say the NCAA is going to touch a racial issue and deny Justin Fields immediate 3 years of eligibility.
I think hell get the waiver but anyone pretending that the NCAA is predictable or logical is kidding themselves.
Did you miss the recruiting rankings the last 6 years? True question.
Did you? UGA was one spot behind us in 2017, one spot ahead of us in 2018, and twelve spots ahead of us in 2019. I would guess their composite ranking for the full roster is better than ours right now.
Is that 6 years? Did Georgia beat Texas? Asking for a friend.
"Results on the field don't matter." -ESPN FPI Branch
What the hell is USA Today and B/R smoking? Bama at 1?
“Megadeth >>> Metallica” - Alum 2019. I couldn’t agree more.
Wasn’t Clemson’s entire d-line seniors? I’m sure they’ll reload, but still.
I think they return 4 of their 5 offensive lineman and of course Lawrence (the ESPN Legend)
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing
Bama will return almost their entire offense minus a couple of linemen. And almost all of their back 7 as well.
The more I think about it, though, the more I realize that there's no team on here below Clemson that doesn't have reasons to knock them in the new year. Notre Dame got exposed and really shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt again, at least until they can boast a conference championship. Oklahoma loses Murray. Texas loses big games. Georgia still isn't elite, despite the hype. While I think we'll be just fine with Ryan Day taking over, the big changes to the coaching staff along with losing Haskins and a ton of receivers will make anyone not wearing scarlet and gray glasses leery of picking us too high.
ND will be blown out of the top 10 3rd week of the season at GA.
We are even going to be bigger fav's this year to win the B10.
We are now tied for 3rd w GA in Vegas Odds to win NC.
There must be a mistake in the NC odds, JK Dobbins said we're winning it.

How's Herman gonna handle a top 5 ranking? Soon as he faces someone out of the top 20, he's texas toast.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Texas now the trendy pick. Georgia is the new LSU.
Someone argued with me that Texas is "back" because they've shown they can beat good teams. Yep, now if only they can figure out how to win those 4 games they shouldn't lose.
What in God’s name did these people see out of Alabama and Georgia this past week that makes them anything close to the top three teams? How much more embarrassed and exposed could they have been? And Texas has been “legit” for about five seconds. Hell, if you’re gonna give them this amount of preseason love after a decade of irrelevance, why not at least put them above Georgia!? Good Lord. The Bulldogs had absolutely no answer for them on either side of the ball. Clemson I don’t have a problem with at all at #1. I do, however, wish that weak scheduling was more a factor in these polls. Until the sports establishment begins rewarding teams for scheduling meaningful games all season, and PUNISHING those who don’t, we won’t get close to a resolution even if we expand the playoffs. A fait accompi if you ask me. At a BARE MINIMUM the SEC and others should be required to play NINE conference games instead of eight. And home and home SHOULD be strongly recommended. No more of this “neutral site” BS for “OOC” games.
Whats your top 5?
Hell, I’ll give you Top 10 plus a bonus 1
1. Clemson (obviously)
2. Oklahoma (returning Heisman, legit O, upgrades on D)
3. Ohio State (due to Haskins departure)
4. UCF (put up or shut up, committee)
5. Wisconsin (always legit with occasional aberrations)
6. Alabama (always overrated)
7. USC (Lotsa new talent)
8. Texas (looking better, but still might be fifth best team in Texas)
9. LSU (Burrow’s big year)
10. PSU (always come to play, solid recruiting, decent coaching)
11. Georgia (and all that fancy talent ain’t worth a damn when you’ve got the worst coach in FBS)
Lol. This list is something else.
What's your problem with it, football genius? The fact that I don't buy into the SEC myth? The fact that UCF is a legit football program that's probably better than all but a handful of P5 schools? They beat Auburn last year, and took LSU to the brink this year with their backup QB on something like his third start. These things are a joke anyway, but the problem is that they are part of the narrative/building blocks for how SEC teams with the help of ESPN game the system each and every year. Alabama and Georgia are going to return basically the same squads with a few losses. Do Tua or Fromm really look like they're ready to do more in 2019? What did they do this season to warrant greater consideration? Recruiting? Neither even looked competitive in the biggest games of the year, except Alabama vs. Oklahoma, but we ALL knew OK didn't have a defense. IF they find one, look out. I like Texas to win the B12 this season, FWIW.
I've asked you before, and I'll ask you again, "BrutusB," when you see my posts, just roll along. I've got no interest in your opinions whatsoever.
Thanks for taking the time. Good points. I will comment on the B10 teams:
-Wisky: biggest problem is tough crossover games, (Sparty, TTUN and at tOSU) and West is way improved, interesting to see how well Wisky will improve.
-PSU: My concern w PSU is this year they lost 4 games w McSorley and Sanders. So to be on par w this years team or better, they are doing that w/o Sanders, McSorley, McGovern and Bates and Shareef Miller (best D player). I have PSU losing 5 games this season.
-TTUN: Losing alot from a team that lost 3 games. 3 losses again would be an accomplishment.
Btw: Thanks for excluding ND!
My pleasure. My list considers alot of the BS schedule padding. If the SEC isn't "gifted" high rankings, and has to earn it by beating the Austin Peay's, Citadel's, and Mercer's of the world along with (min) two other "world beaters," They don't benefit from "beating the best" and perpetuating this myth every year that sees a new "SEC juggernaut" rise and fall. It was UK this season, though Florida came on late, and LSU was stronger (with our backup QB). Still, PSU took UK to the brink, and should have won that game despite a poor start.
Wisky will always suffer playing second fiddle in OSU's conference, but look at what they've done to Miami two seasons in a row, last year after being SNUBBED by the CFPC, they went to the Hurricanes' home turf and crushed them. Did the same up in NYC this year. They've got a talented QB in Hornibrook, and an AMAZING QB coming in, Graham Mertz, that may win the starting job, and Jonathan Taylor is a Heisman/NFL caliber RB.
PSU is going to have a tough time replacing McSorley, but they have a stable of 4 stars that could replace him at the same level. A nice receiving corps, solid defense, and (vomit) good coaching. I'd definitely put PSU as the #3 program behind OSU and Wisky. And for the 3rd year in a row, PSU is going to have to replace an NFL RB. But they should be in good hands with 5 star red shirt sophomore, Ricky Slade.
TTUN will be absolute GARBAGE next year. And it will be Hairballs last season in Ann Arbor (who's a whore, incidentally), IF he manages to make it through the season. Look for Les Miles to replace him, then be afraid. (somewhat)
ND is the most overrated college football program in the nation, second only to Alabama and Georgia. And TTUN (of course!). They'll fall off into obscurity for another 5-7 years like locusts after their last whipping to Alabama.
But what do I know...lol
All very good points. Thanks again.
Old- Bama at 6? That’s purely stupidity
2. I’m pretty sure Murray is going to the MLB.
4. They couldn’t beat your #9 team and they don’t recruit nearly as well. I know the QB was out, but so was most of LSU’s secondary. It’s safe to say having that much nfl talent sit will impact a defense.
6. Overrated, but not by that much. Having a “down” year doesn’t erase the dominance they’ve had recently both on the field and in recruiting.
2. OK: I dont understand Murray. And wondering if the polls assume he is QB or not.
4. UCF: He is saying lets give them a shot.
6. Bama: Hard to find fault w them based on their recruiting and HC.
7. USC: Definitely a sleeper. Do we know who their HC is?
4. I’m ok with them in the top 10, but 4 is too high.
7. Same head coach as of now and they were 5-7 this year. I’ll be impressed if they win 9 games next year.
Except OU isn’t returning their QB. First round MLB draftee and will play MLB.
Bama at 1 is right. Bunch of returning starters including 2 QB’s to pick from. Ton of RB’s.
id put OSU at 3 and UGA at 4. UGA might be better but tougher schedule and not so smart HC.
We need to avoid a stupid loss. We play PSU and SCUM back to back. By then our offense should be firing and D playing a LOT better under the new staff
The stupid loss will be prevented with better defense.
Agreed on your PSU and TTUN comments. However, I have PSU and TTUN both losing 4-5 games each. Could this be the first year that the West ends the season w more teams in final top 25?
I wonder who was assumed to be our QB in these polls. The timing is crazy in all this.
Clemson, a school with ZERO football heritage or tradition, in South Carolina, that before 2016, had a "claimed" national championship, but somehow has managed to win 2 in the last 4 years. That's pretty incredible.
Lot of uncertainty at the moment surrounding our beloved Buckeyes with a new head coach. Just have to prove it out on the field!
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I care this much:
SEC quality losses amount to many big wins every where else. Instead of dropping Georgia, just raise Texas, who is not as good as Maryland and lost twice with the same basic rosters.
Georgia #3 after losing their 5-star QB to us?
That QB was sitting on their bench.
I do question the timing of all these polls. Did it assume we had Haskins, Tate or Fields this year?
Certain Programs make good qbs great. 3 qbs in a row break osu and big ten records. One bench warmer even won a nc. Oklahoma has back to back Heisman qbs. ttun has 4 total busts in a row. Why? Certain programs transcend the players you plug in.
So exoect qbs from ttun to underwhelm ok to be great and osu to be great.
Just insanely ignorant to the poster that stated above: Alabama- always overrated. That post gets the all time award for dumbest post ever on this site,
Lets look- Alabama- 5 National championship in 10 years. 2 runner ups. Boy I guess that is overrated. Duh.
Ohio State- 1 National championship in 10 years. Zero runner ups.
And we wonder why some OSU fans are the clueless ones.
Do you feel better now? Shouting into the abyss with absolutely nobody caring about your opinion whatsoever?
The ONLY reason Alabama has “5 championships in 10 years” is because they’ve been given FAR more opportunities than anybody else BECAUSE they’re overrated.
“Overrated” as I use it is unfairly ranked based upon supposed “superiority” of the SEC, a superiority based upon ESPN, ABC, CBS, and all their propaganda pushing the SEC myth. And guess what, they’re all owned by DISNEY.
If you break down each year Alabama’s “won” championships, it’s because they’ve basically had the entire season gifted to from the 8 conference games instead of 9, the annual FCS “chickenshit Saturday” the week before Auburn, to G5 cupcakes, AND NO OOC road games, you know, risking going to a P5 opponents home field.
The bottom line is that yes, Alabama is supremely talented, but no more so than OSU or any number of other Top 10-15 programs. Saban is no better a Coach than any others, and certainly worse than Meyer or Swinney, he was 6-6 at best at MSU before fleeing there and failing at the NFL then going to LSU then Alabama and magically becoming ESPN’s “GOAT.”
I will give them credit for winning when the opportunity presented itself, but no more than anyone else in a bowl game. Had OSU been given the same opportunities the past decade it would be Meyer and the Buckeyes ESPN and mouth breathers who buy into the myth we’d be talking about instead.
But alas, OSU plays a legit 12-13 game schedule every season (as do most other legit programs outside the SEC) so that means way more risk of losing, thus less opportunities to play in a national championship game.
Tiny sample size of my argument played out last year and this year. Last year Alabama lost to the only ranked team it played, Auburn, didn’t play in their conference championship, yet made it in over OSU and 12-1 Wisconsin whose only loss was in the conference championship. Then it was Georgia and Alabama in the playoffs.
Was that fair?
Then this season is in the books and Alabama and Georgia were completely exposed, yet the talking heads said both were unbeatable. How could this be?
I can walk you through each season from the 12-0 season under Meyer (when Bama beat ND) or the year before when Alabama beat LSU in the totally fair matchup of the “best two teams.” And what happened when OSU met Alabama in 2014? Myth busted, and never permitted to happen again.
You can disagree with my opinion, but don’t you dare call me “ignorant.” I’ve forgotten more about college football than you will ever know. Run along.
Then this season is in the books and Alabama and Georgia were completely exposed, yet the talking heads said both were unbeatable. How could this be?”
ok this is actually a great point.
Right it wrong you are in a tiny island arguing that Bama is equal to other top 10 P5 schools. Remember they must beat 2 top 4 teams every cfp. So you have to count those games, right?
The important thing is to be in the top 10 or 15. A team that plays well will have a chance.....
I am curious about what these people see in Texas...I do think they are trending up but Ehlinger is just a poor man's Tebow, and have their giant WR's said if they are coming back (I believe Johnson said he was). In no world would I put Texas above Ohio State based on the past season as well as future outlook...just makes no sense.
Or is it truly a way to just prop up UGA?
Kid is legit, and very astute to notice Texas’s sudden rise in the polls. It most certainly is to prop up UGA and the SEC. TX delivered the most embarrassing loss to the ESECPN homer media. It just flat out wasn’t supposed to happen. I think brighter days are ahead for TX, but they still very well may be the fourth or fifth best team in Texas if TCU, TAMU, Houston, Baylor, and or TTU turn things around next season. All have potential. I for one would love to see the Longhorns return after being irrelevant for a decade.
More curious to me is the complete disappearance of Gary Patterson’s TCU. They’ve been the best team in Texas for years and solid for even longer. I guess we broke them. *sadface* ;)
Agree the GA and TX should be ranked below OSU, I could see OK or OSU getting the 3rd spot after Clemson and Bama. But being ranked in the top 6 is fine for pre-season. The wimpy OOC schedule does worry me that 1 loss may drop OSU out of the playoffs again even with a Big 10 crown, but it will give new QB and OL some time to get in sync.
Welp. We're within striking distance.
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
So osu non con soft while BSec get a pass when they pkay fcs and weak non con games like austen peay. What crap.
Go Bucks! TTUN tears are best! Beat Wisky!!!
Dude- it’s called being smarter than the rest of CFB!!!!
ESPN has us at 4?
Thought they HATED us?
They will consistently rank an sec in the top 2 or 3 in early polls whether they think they are or not so they can say if they lose they are the best 1 loss team. Early polls are the unfair advantage. It makes it easier for them to absorb a loss and have an advantage over anyone else. So they always get that credit.
