That was over a decade ago dude -- this Mattison now, you know today -- was ready to be 'coaxed into retirement' by scUM as DL coach and instead gets hired by OSU as DC lol....brilliant!
Please go cheer for Michigan. You ruin every thread.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
He already does, thats why he's here crying over Mattison.
He might be a Michigan fan, but he sort of has a point. Mattison was demoted at UM. He used to be a very good d-line coach and recruiter, but he’s not coaching the d-line at OSU and supposedly has slown down on the recruiting trail. It could be because he didn’t like Harbaugh and had one foot out the door, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t at least skeptical of the hire. There was a time I was lobbying for Spielman to be the head coach, so it’s probably best if I just trust the men in charge and support the moves they make.
Get your facts straight, he WILLINGLY took a lesser role to spend time with his family. He is OLD so I would think he wouls rather be with his family more
Right so why is he now taking a role in which he is having to go back to spending more time away from them when he is 4 years older.
His kids are older now , they’re adults I presume , and im pretty sure he is going to act as a stop-gal / mentor for an upcoming DC
Agreed...my guess is he is here for a bit to mentor some other guys. But at the end of the day when I think about it...most good coordinators are here for a very short time...because they usually go to bigger and better things. So let's just assume he'll be here a couple years like any of our other good coordinators and roll with it.
I’m just impressed he took his caps lock off.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
In his defense, he's consistent.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
He wasn't being coaxed into retirement. Many media sources say reports his contract wasn't renewed by MIchigan were false.
Yes, Mattison and Charlie Strong built the Defense that crushed the dreams of Buckeye Nation that night.
I was at the game...48 yard line, 3rd row. It was NOT the scheme that beat us. Their athletes were on a whole other level - their DEs were so much faster and stronger than Tackles, it was glaring. Nothing against him, but other than Ginn (who went down on play 1) we had NOWHERE near the team speed they had.
Thanks for making me remember the best seats and worst time I have ever had at a Natty!
Scheme can allow great players to shine. Scheme can also put Tuf Borland in man coverage. Just sayin.
They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them.
I am completely ok with this hire and the hire of Hafley. Sets up perfectly for Mattison to walk into the sunset while giving Hafley sometime to adjust to a bigger role.
"Come on, you sons of b!tches! Do you want to live forever?" -- Dan Daly, WWI
He is here for advice grooming hafley....good hire
