If that happens... this just may be the best Day, ever.

I see what you did there.
The bobbleheads have had their pep talk. Time for some football.
Haskins wants to come back. I guarantee he comes back if Ohio State offers him an insurance policy. If he’s not offered an insurance policy then Gene Smith needs to go.
Can they do that under NCAA rules? I have no idea
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Absolutely. Clemson does it. Jaylon Smith had one going into 2015.
Jaylon Smith's insurance policy didn't pay him anything close to what he would have got paid as a top 10 draft pick in the draft as he was projected to be prior to his injury.
It seems like Haskins would really like to return, and enjoy another year of college (you can never get these times back again), but I'm sure he doesn't want to risk securing his financial future. Back in 2015, Smith's policy would have paid him $5 million in the event of a career ending injury. Buckeyes could easily do at least this much. It would be unfortunate if Haskins missed out on the NFL because of an injury, but if you can't live very comfortably and happily on $5 million, you won't be happy with more, either!
It was still like a million dollars.
Yes the school can offer to pay for it, but everything above the basic scholarship is done on a Financial need basis.
If a player’s family doesn’t meet income guidelines, then they’d have to pay for the policy. I’d read that ND offered to pay Jaylon’s, but instead he chose to pay for it.
I bet folks would be surprised to know that some players get Pell grant money thats oover and above their athletic scholarship!
The school doesn't offer him the insurance policy though, right? I'm not sure how that'd even work and it screams NCAA violation. I was always under the impression that players sought these out independently and pay crazy high premiums themselves for however much they want to be insured for/however much the insurer is willing to insure for. I'm sure OSU might be able to offer him and his family some guidance toward that option, but I guess I can't say I know anything about it 100% either way.
How is Haskins saying ask someone who won't be on the team next year if Fields can wear #1 a hint that he is coming back?
Pro Tip: Never forget It's The Off Season.
I saw Ryan Day hang 62 on Michigan...His hair was perfect.

I believe I read that the player who wears #1 decides who to pass it down to.

New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Because he says 7’s mine.
Or maybe he wants 7 to be his QB legacy number and for JF to start his own with the #1?
Yeah, that was my second thought. But at the very least, he's being extremely ambiguous. I took that as "take someone else's number (Johnnie D), I'll be wearing #7 next year". Plus I've never heard of retired numbers in CFB, it seems like an extremely narcissistic thought process that no one can wear his number again because he needs to protect his legacy.

2. What say would Johnnie Dixon have on who gets #1 since he graduated?
They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them.
they're friends and they're bantering on Twitter.
And Haskins is just trolling. There’s private acts that are an indication that he’s moving on!
Private acts. What are you? His Mom?

No I’m not; who are you, the backup QB ?
No, just the resident bullshit detector. You post on here that you somehow have inside information yet show no indication of any kind of intelligence to indicate insider knowledge. And you think you're insulting me? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Troll.
Call me what you want, we’re all anonymous posters with screen names.
Btw, I could continue to go back and forth with you, but I DO have enough intelligence to no longer bother. Bye Felicia!
I’ve said what I said, so go respond ad naseum to someone else’s posts. Lol!
In closing, whose your pick for the starting QB in 2019 for the Bucks?
You're right. You are anonymous. And as far as we're concerned, making shit up to sound like you know shit you don't know. Sort of like a Internet Bully, except wih knowledge instead of toughness. So I guess an Internet Nerd.
However you get your jollies. But posting that you have some kind of insider knowledge but not demonstrating it is the height of pathetic. Sort of like a self esteem jerkoff.
Haskins has gotten really good at trolling people. Not as good as Cardale but he's improved tremendously over the last year.

I think Dixon already said he wants to pass #1 on to Olave.
In CFB you can have more than one player with the same number, they just can't be on the field at the same time. Often done with offensive vs. defensive players. See: Jonathon Cooper and Tate Martell.
"Because we couldn't go for three."
Olave and fields both play offense...

He's not coming back, folks.
You're reading way too much into the comment. He's saying "you can't be another quarterback wearing #7 because I made that my number."
He is not coming back. And that's OK.
Not it's not, from his standpoint. Best season every by an Ohio State quarterback, but way too raw for the NFL.
Way too raw? I don't even know what that means. He has great pocket awareness, knows how to do his progressions...you can't be "raw" and do what he did this season. Also, he would be a fool to pass up going Top 5 in the draft to risk another year here - ask Cardale how that worked out.
Not to be overly confrontational, but can you give me some examples of his rawness?
He'd be the top QB in this year's draft hands down (though that's not saying much). Only other QB that comes close to him is maybe Drew Lock.
Uncomfortable in the pocket under pressure.
Soft: Afraid to run at times. Gets rattled under pressure.
Inaccurate under pressure.
Bad decisions: Taking sacks instead of throwing the ball away. Throwing to receivers behind the line of scrimmage instead of throwing the ball away. Not running when there are yards to be gained.
You convinced me, he sucks. Thank God Fields is coming
Pros don't like their QBs taking off on a run unless they absolutely have to, even the ones known for being able to run.

Taking sacks instead of throwing the ball away.
Haskins attempted 533 passes in 2018, and Ohio State surrendered 23 sacks as a team. Let's attribute all 23 sacks to Haskins, and it averages 1.6 sacks per game.
His pocket awareness/sense of urgency is the one thing that he does need to work on. Obviously he doesn’t need to stay in Columbus to work on that, but I wouldn’t blame the young man if he wanted to return. College is the last bastion of our young adult lives. We establish close-knit bonds with people, engage in study groups, learn the real-life antics of how to deal with the rat race known as life. And for athletes, there’s an even stronger brotherhood. It sounds cliché but money isn’t everything. If he thinks he could hone his skill set for another year while improving and approaching the finality of his scholarly ambitions, I wouldn’t be the person to insult his decision and claim it’s a dumb move. Only butt hurt reporters who toe the NFL line for clickbait will do that. It’s ironic, don’t ya think? Adults telling kids to stay in school when at the high school level and don’t be a dropout. But those reporters or armchair quarterbacks telling Dwayne that staying in school is stupid? That is rich.

Buckbornbred, congrats. You win the award for the worst post in the history of ever. Your prize is a flaming bag of shit on your doorstep. Kudos to you bro.
Dude, you're a joke.'Speaking' BBB like that says waaaay more about you than it does him....."bro".
I'd say he's relatively polished for a college sophomore with only one season of playing time under his belt. He's got things he has to improve upon, for sure, and he could get some benefit by coming back for another year, but he could get quite the benefit from going pro as well. I know it's a down year for QBs in the draft, but you don't get to be viewed as a 1st round lock, most likely top 10 pick, by being way too raw for the NFL. He's raw compared to current NFL players, sure...but so is just about every QB that turns pro.
i was really hoping to see J Gill wear #7. long list of ballin G7s needs to be continued.
How long has that van been there?
We all love ya Haskins but nobody’s buying the bait.
Why would he return now after Fields just announced his transfer? That doesn't quite add up.
As the Ohio State great Johnny Utah said...He isn’t coming back.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
I just hope he doesn't get killed by a gigantic wave...or did he?
They are HOMIES! Clearly he's just messing with him, just like each of us do with our close friends
It's called busting balls
Fields wouldn’t have come here if Haskins was coming back.
In all honesty I do not think he is eligible for a hardship waiver . A UGA baseball team member (Adam Sasser) while in the stands during the Tennessee game on September 30 made a racial comment in connection with wanting Fields to be put in the game (for which he later publicly apologized, spoke to Fields personally, and was kicked off the UGA baseball team). UGA coach Kirby Smart stated Fields was not phased by the racist comment. I do not believe for a minute he actually continues to feel threatened by the comment to the extent it creates an actual hardship. His little sister Jaiden is still a recently committed freshman UGA softball player per her twitter page. Rather, I truly believe he was threatened by the fact he would be sitting behind Jake Fromm. My firm belief is that Fields is playing the race card to get the waiver to transfer for a better playing opportunity. He will be a welcome addition to the OSU team but the waiver rationale is a little bit disingenuous in my view.
If the waiver is unlikely then Haskins may well be staying.
So you've been in a similar situation before? I assume that must be the case since you're an authority on how such an encounter affects someone. Otherwise, your stance is completely disingenuous.
Common sense - which you obviously lack. Under your logic the only NCAA personnel qualified to evaluate the waiver request will be those who have had a racist term directed at them, right? That's like saying the only judge who can hear a discrimination case is a judge who has been discriminated against. Juries decide cases all the time involving situations they themselves have not experienced.
If Fields can't handle this incident as described (didn't he finish out the year with his team and stay in school?), he is too fragile to quarterback a major college football team like OSU. If a waiver is granted for this you will see a flood of similar claims by non-starters. This is all about playing time, not hurt sensibilities. Don't kid yourself. Wake up.
Well , aren't you a Debbie Downer. Your 'common sense' argument doesn't hold water. NCAA personnel will not only have had more experience than you in this determination but also most likely would NOT want to have to deal with a black student athlete and a southern university in this situation. Perhaps you aren't aware the accused was kicked off the baseball team but NOT the university. I bet you don't know that the incident was intense enough for the police to be called for protection of nearby students. But "don't kid yourself ", and believe ANY university or group would want a protracted fight in this current PC culture and racially charged environment . It would appear you are the one that needs to "wake up".
Pull the lard out between your frontal lobes - I've got a bucket full of water. if you read my post carefully you will see that IMO he does not qualify - not that the sissy pants at the NCAA won't grant his request. And I'll bet you anything that the NCAA personnel don't have much, if any, experience with this type of issue or that situation or it would have been in the news already as some type of precedent. Fields obviously felt secure enough to stay in school and finish out the season. Even his coach Kirby Smart said it was not traumatic for Fields. If police were called to a full stadium it was only to remove this guy who was probably drunk and (obviously) obnoxious. There was no violence, no threats. The guy apologized publicly and personally. If the NCAA caves in to this race card strategy we will be seeing a lot more of it.
I imagine your position might change if he had transferred to TSUN using this strategy.
57... You just continue to insult people , dontcha? Must make you feel important and/or big , huh? I believe I WAS commenting on your premise that Fields would NOT be eligible in your faulty assumption...so I DID read your post correctly , didn't I ? As for the NCAA previous experience investigating racial slurs... Baylor and Illinois are two most recent examples . So you are wrong again , aren't ya? Coach Smart, using typical coachspeak, remarked on the subject "Justin is great, he's worried about Vanderbilt"... nothing about "trauma'. (Saturday down South, Oct 2018) And police WERE there at the stadium and stayed "in the aisle watching Sasser and his friends" after the incident (due to potential "THREAT") when the students in attendance commented that "they" (baseball players) continued to yell the slur until the police were notified.(Dawg Nation, Oct 2018) Wrong again, kemosabe. Finally , Justin Fields as recently as last year was considered a possible PRO prospect in BASEBALL and this incident would likely not allow him to pursue that option at Georgia. Oh, and Sports Illustrated (Dec 18 ,2018) even stated " Fields may have a STRONGER case than Patterson did" (the Ole Miss transfer to Michigan) . FYI, see the new NCAA transfer mandated rules from April 2018. So, in summation ; I have rebuked your every statement and claims with references , quotes and proof statements. Once again it only verifies I have less "lard in my frontal lobes" than you . I provide facts.... and you... just a waterlogged ("bucket full of water") reasoning process. Touche'. Go Bucks.
btw, I wasn't the one who DV'd you.
1957, I agree with you on the point that Fields has other motives for wanting to transfer. He probably thinks OSU is a better opportunity to play and he probably just wants to play for Ryan Day. However, I don't agree with you when you say that his waiver won't be granted because of that. In today's society the topic of race is very sensitive and if this is not granted by the NCAA they could become a target in the national media. My guess is the NCAA will avoid this and give him his waiver.
I think you can pick select who you want your number to go too. Dixon wants Olave to get his number. I want Wade to be number 2.
So Okudah, Wade, Arnette & Fuller can be 1,2,3 & 4?
Chase Young wants a word...
He has a few good reasons to come back.
He has, maybe, 10 million reasons not too.
Haskins returns knowing Fields sits out a year while both colluding to force Tate to transfer. So obvious.......
Nah thats me g https://t.co/pVcx4pM10m

Olave needs to stick with 17 so I have a good reason to wear my old Todd Boeckmann jersey.

Kudos for having a Todd Boeckmann Jersey. You’re a true fan.
I'd bet good money Todd would sign the shit out of that.
Now if we only knew where he was. lol
Wonder if I could get my official Paul Warfield jersey signed?
From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I shall not put.
I hope it means Haskins is coming back for at least another year!! That is the way I took it to mean.
While Cardale dropped coming back, that is b/c he lost his starting spot..that will not happen with Dwayne if he comes back.

I hope there's a Vicky's Secret model in my bed begging me for it when I turn in tonight.
I think we're both going to have to learn to live with disappointment and neither of us can be mad because the object of our desire decided to take a more lucrative and logical option.
Love conquers all, she might love you for your personality.
I hope there's a Vicky's Secret model in my bed begging me for it when I turn in tonight.
VS will sell you one of those window mannequins, so your fantasies can come true.
More likely this guy.
R.I.P. R. Lee Emery
Nothing against Haskins but I'd take the model.
Pretty sure he just meant that 7 is now associated with him (Haskins) so Fields needs to find a different number to make his mark in.
That is probably what it was meant to be but I will run with he is coming back till he isn't .
Under that logic a number would never get passed on. I have a #7 jersey from when Ted Ginn wore that number. But time goes on....
Joe Germaine isn’t even the best #7 QB. Long live Flam 7!
Flam came and spoke to our Sacramento OSU Alumni club last spring. A couple 11W were in attendance and we only had like 30 people there. That was fun to hear and he was so incredibly gracious.
Never been a fan of a player wearing #1. What’s next: #0 or #00.
Next thing you know the STARTING PK will wear #95 and the STARTING P will wear #93.
Head coach needs to step in and establish some sort of decorum. Looks like patients are running the asylum.
Now...get off my lawn.
Agreed. Kickers should wear #0 and punters should wear #00.
Tuff Borland And Pete Werner will do a circle drill to figure which one wears #45 in 2019
Slowest circle drill ever...and nobody will go down
There wouldn't be a circle drill because neither one would know where to find it
Jim Otto is a NFL Hall of Fame center who wore 00.
1 is an ego #. Give it to a kicker, if at all.
0 would be the most Buckeye # ever.
I was always disappointed Greg Oden didn’t wear it in basketball, ala Jim Otto wearing 00.
haha - nugent was #85 wasn't he?
He's coming back 100% take it to the bank.
Good to hear he's 100% coming back however my bank is closed they have terrible hours there
Only a fool would think otherwise.
Just like Tate will 100% be the starter?
I don't get it
"Ohio fullbacks should stay in Ohio and play at Ohio State." - Earle Bruce
You said he's not the type to screw around for kicks and giggles.
The lie detector test determined that was a lie.
I fully admit that Haskins is EXTREMELY likely to go...
But I also think people are too quick to dismiss outright the idea that he comes back. He wouldn't be the first player to turn down easy millions in the league for another shot at college glory. Hell I don't think he's the first one this off-season. The media was saying Herbert was the for sure #1 QB off the board (despite our protests for Dwayne)... and he opted to go back to Oregon.
Yes - remember that video from 2008 when he said his dream was to be the OSU quarterback. This runs deep. He may be having second thoughts about leaving his dream behind before he has to. Troy Smith was his idol and he may want the Heisman like Smith.
What? There's a video of him as a kid wanting to be an OSU quarterback? Why haven't the networks been playing that every game?
Since you didn't use the sarcasm font; I must assume then that is your first viewing of the video. That video has been shown dozens of times; when Haskins first flipped to OSU from Maryland in 2016, after he became the starter after JT graduated and numerous times this year pre and post games vs Maryland, Michigan and the Rose Bowl specifically. But I imagine you are just being facetious. Go Bucks!
I have been told that good sarcasm needs no font. I'll have to try harder. ;)
Excellent sarcasm--next time I'll know better. Didn't mean to be snarky. Mea culpa.
No need to apologize, and I didn't take it as snarky.
Hmmm...maybe I need to check my snark detector.
May be one good reason for Justin Fields to come to OSU, to be able to follow Dwayne and be comfortable in qb room. Not only to have Ryan Day to be his mentor but to have a good friend in his corner helping with everything else. Roomies?
It's getting really late and I've spent waayy too much time in this forum. Sry
Reasons for Haskins to leave: $$$, obviously.
Reasons for Haskins to stay: He might want to get his degree. He's only had one year as a starter. He can keep breaking records and compete for the highest goals in CFB.
The shred of hope I see in his coming back is that he's had 46 days to declare for the NFL draft, but he hasn't yet. We'll see.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
Haskins actions privately indicates he’s gone, he’s just not said it publicly. Too busy trolling and getting his ducks in a row to say so yet!
Ducks in a row?
What the hell other ducks would he need to get into a row????
Season is over, draft score is back, the red sea of quarterbacks has parted to leave him the #1 spot, most draft analysts have him going by pick-7, and the Buckeye faithful have all but moved on to a Fields/Martell debate.
The ducks have been in a row for at least several days now; if frankly not for weeks.
The ducks have been in a row for at least several days now; if frankly not for weeks.
That's basically what I'm saying. He could have declared for the draft after the TTUN game. But he's still around OSU, watching basketball games with Coach Meyer. What might give us a clue is if he's in classes on Monday 1/7.
Be careful Westy. This guy has insider knowledge. You might not be able to get your signed autograph from Haskins.
Fields has spoken to Haskins. You'd have to be pretty naive to believe that Haskins hasn't told him he was leaving. He probably told him long before the bowl game. If Haskins would announce that he was coming back there would be a bunch of people shocked...mainly Fields.
Fields came here without any guarantee of eligibility for this year... he may be shocked a lot more if that does not happen this year ....
Anything is possible but I think the odds of the NCAA fighting a charge of racism are pretty low. Again, I believe that Fields had a pretty good idea he would win the case and that he knew Haskins was leaving. The only thing that Fields has to worry about is beating out Tate...that may not be as easy as some believe.
Maybe Fields knows Haskins is coming back and instead of battling someone who has the advantage of understanding the offense better, he’ll get the opportunity to learn the system and then be able to compete on a level playing field as far as system understanding.
Not saying this IS the situation, just that it’s plausible. And everyone who says otherwise doesn’t know anything; they’re just guessing.
Is Haskins hiring trolls?

I know he’s not coming back, but this actually led me to dream about it. A kid who called his shot at a young age, despite every indication he should go pro he returns to his dream school to lead his Buckeyes to an undefeated season having the best single season in college football history. Hoisting the Heisman and the CFBplayoff trophy. He would go down as one of, if not the most iconic players in college football history.
I saw this earlier and wondered the same thing. Also noticed that the top embedded tweet is his “return of simba” from a year ago. Was that always there? Probably and I’m just a psychotic fan reading too much into a 3rd year sophmore’s twitter
Forget the NFL, Haskins could have a lucrative career as a professional social media troll at this point.
"I say let us give them all they want; not a word of argument, not a sign of let up, no cave in till we are whipped or they are."
-William Tecumseh Sherman
I’m not even bothered by the troll job. Talk your shit, Dwayne. You earned it.
Thought for sure this video was going to end with him declaring for the draft.
Although I don't think it's a good long-term decision, I totally see why he would go to the NFL. But why would he torment Ohio State fans? What have they ever done to him?
Kind of reminds me of the time when Michael Thomas suggested on Twitter that he was going to declare and then came back for one more year. Only this time it's in reverse.
At this point, either he's unnecessarily trolling Buckeye fans hard (for what reason?) or he's coming back.
I do think the disrespect nationally and unfinished business vibes are very strong in the building right now.
I’m convinced Haskins is off to the League until he declares otherwise - and that he has a good idea what he will do at this stage. I wish him the best either way.
I do not think he is coming back but him still being on campus is interesting. I wonder if he is enrolled in classes still seeing today is the start of the new semester.
I expect the videos are like a series leading up to him declaring this week.
Okay... Just a random thought that I had, but is it likely we get an NCAA ruling on the Justin Fields waiver within the week. Could this at all play into Haskins decision? I would think it has zero bearing on it, however what if he is thinking that if something unforeseen happens and the waiver isn't granted... That could be one more chip on the lets comeback and make a bang one last time with Coach Day as the shot caller side of things. I genuinely believe he loves Ohio State and being QB1 here. Could it be he isn't quite ready to give it up after 14 games?
The waiver process takes a long time. Probably hasn't even been started yet. Shea Patterson wasn't cleared till April. So no way it happens for Fields in a week.
When Fields signed for Ohio State, that was confirmation that Haskins was gone. Fields ain't come to play backup
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."
No it wasn't. You just think it confirms your suspicions. There's a difference. Your suspicions are valid. But, there are alot of variables at play. There's no guarantee that Fields gets a waiver. Haskins may want to get another year of college experience because he knows that it will help him in the long run with his career. Haskins may like being the BMOC. Haskins may like running out of the tunnel and hearing 105,000 people cheering for him. Haskins may like singing Carmen Ohio after games. He might like sitting in the front row at the Schott and watch friends of his play basketball. Who knows. You don't. Neither do I.

Nothing I said was contradicted by this afternoon. See, because my self esteem isn't contingent on being right or wrong. I just like to wait for facts before I say anything. Because, if you put your reading glasses on, i said, WE DON'T KNOW. And unless you're haskins Girlfriend, you didn't know when or where the decision was coming or what it was.
