At the start of 2017, we were certain we would win 2 of the next 5 national championships.
So yeah, things are looking good, we're about to win 2 is the next 3!
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
We should have won 2 of the next 2 from then, but narrative got in the way.
Pick up your feet, turn your corners square! And DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!!!
We gotta win the offseason first. It’s been a while since we’ve survived that - at least that’s how it feels
Don't think I would classify that as a rough fall, but then again I'm 52 and have seen my fair share of rough falls.
May be in reference to the receiver coach thing
13-1*. Fun fact about Notre Dame, they've never won more than 12 games in a season. Off topic but still nice to think about.
Feel good about the O. Talent on defense is there....depends on Coaching. Larry Johnson is must keep...others, well 2018 statistics don't lie. Pure data
I think the offense is good enough but the defense has a ways to go. We could probably get better at special teams as well. Seems like it's been since Ted Ginn since we have returned a punt or kickoff for points.
GlassCityBuckeyes. That was one area I thought we'd see immediate improvement in after Coach Meyer was hired...special team returners! Good grief it's been forever (Ted Ginn Jr) since we've had a serious threat to 'house' a return. I'd sure like to see a true threat back there. Go Bucks!
Jameson Williams getting some Ted Ginn Jr. comps, you may be in luck. I still think the overall climate of special teams makes it harder to return kicks/punts, not sure of true stats on them though.
TBF22. Thanks for the response. You make a couple of good points for sure and especially in regards to the changing climate of kick-off returns. It just doesn't seem like ages since we've had a true threat to create magic in the return game. Go Bucks!
It's been quite some time since we've returned one for points but not as far back as Teddy Ginn. Jalin Marshall took a punt to the house in 2014 against Indiana. Kickoff, however, is a different story. Jordan Hall returned the last kickoff for a touchdown in 2010 vs. TTUN
Wow...I didnt realize it has been that long, that is crazy!
How many have we given up in that time?? Last year was BAD!
Keep in mind that rule changes are making kickoffs less exciting.
Be prepared for the elimination of the kickoff. It's totally coming.
I think at the collegiate level they should be. If a player making millions, or even minimum salries in the NFL wants to risk his career, future health, and worst case life on full speed collisions rivaling that of car wrecks that's one thing. But what these kids are getting for what they put their bodies through isn't that. A free education isn't worth risking your life for, and we don't necessarily ask that from other student athletes on scholarships for different sports.
At minimum the NCAA should implement the Schiano kickoff suggestion, would link but on mobile and don't know how really, that I read somewhere changing kickoffs to punts.

Beat Florida Atlantic.
Let's get through the next 9 months without any issues with our head coach or any important players first. I am optimistic about 2019 but I was also optimistic about 2018 all the way until the first week of August. Things can change.

I think we will have a really good year. Our first 4 games will be a good warm up before heading to Nebraska (who will be much improved). This will allow our coaches and players to settle in hopefully. Cincinnati and Indiana could be a test in those first 4 but I think even if we looked a little rough our talent and depth are so strong we will win those games. I am not expecting (but am hoping) we win a national championship...but I DO expect Ryan Day to kick Michigan's ass in their own house his first season...that would be a great start to his tenure and Jimmy would still understand his place.
I’d be impressed if we don’t struggle with Cincinnati.
I think it is off to a good start, but I do not count "new coach" as a positive. I HOPE it ends up being a positive, but losing the guy who won 91% of the time and beat Michigan for seven straight years is not a positive for me.
Sorry for the negativity, and am I sure you mean well, as in, "gosh this whole thing is exciting and the new coach and Justin Fields and whatnot", but I am still in the dumps over losing Urban. I feel like it should have been a bigger bummer for the fan base than it was.
I hear you, but my take is Day is in a position to grow the program thanks to Urban's work. I'm also sensing a change of guard across football. Sure Saban will be around for a while, but these younger coaches such as Day, Riley, Frost, Fleck etc.. are the next 15 years of football.. Meanwhile the ACC keeps hiring old mean, and the SEC keeps hiring either old men, or Saban assistants.. I think the Bucks got the pick of the litter.. I may be brutally wrong, but I have a suspicion the program is getting ready to take off..

It's not such a bummer because Ryan Day has a chance to be the next legend and its happening right before our eyes. Hes a one of a kind young man, the kids absolutely love him, hes proving that there will be no drop off in recruiting, hes putting together an excellent staff so far (interesting to see what he does with the Defense), knows the importance of beating TTUN, and has that Buckeye Brotherhood passion. Oh and in case you haven't heard.....Urbans going nowhere. How's that for a bonus? Bring in Fields, the highest rated recruit every at OSU, and what happens? The very next day of getting on campus hes sitting beside Urban Meyer at an OSU basketball game. Have some faith, enjoy the moment, its not a bummer Meyer is gone from the sideline because in my honest opinion we are witnessing what could be the start of a dynasty in Columbus. And that is really exciting, not a bummer.
"The minute I think I'm getting mellow, I'm retiring. Whoever heard of a mellow winner."
It's a bummer, but what the hell should we be doing? Lay in the corner in the fetal position. It's time to go. Urban says the program will get even stronger. He's there to help with youthful guys stepping in to bring the energy. They are going to be great!
Maybe Day’s teams won’t give up 30 point beatdowns on the reg. That’s all the positive I need.
