The homeless guy that suggested Johnny football has more sound advice then that NFL evaluator.
18 Saturdays till kickoff
Perhaps I’m reading too much into Tate’s tweet but I wonder if he has any insight into whether Haskins is leaving (even with a later first-round projection).
You're not. He won't go anywhere near the late 1st either unless he completely bombs at the combine and proday.
I read about these draft reports a few years back and if I understand them, they show a worse case scenario in the draft. So he being late first round as a worst case scenario is understandable given the depth of the draft and the other “weaknesses” he has. But someone who really needs a QB will not hesitate to trade up to get him. He simply has shown too much promise this season.
Scouts also talk down a player because - they actually want him.
as far as need, jags, bucks, bengals, giants all have a big need at qb - haskins wouldn't make it out of the top 8.
Trubusky’s stats the only year he started @ UNC: 304/447 (68%), 3,746 yards, 30 TDs, 6 INTs, 157.9 QBR, plus he also ran for 308 yards and five TDs. UNC went 8-5.
Haskins: 373/533 (70%), 4,831 yards, 50 TDs, eight INTs, 174.1 QBR, plus 108 yards and four TDs rushing. Ohio State finished 13-1.
The only thing I can think of that might make Trubusky a higher rated prospect is that he might have been given credit for doing more with less, i.e., his supporting cast wasn’t as good as Haskins and his team had to depend on him more. Beyond that, it makes me wonder if some NFL scouts are afraid Haskins will be the next Akili Smith, who put up stats his senior season at Oregon that were comparable to Trubusky’s, was taken by the Bengals third overall (the first three picks were QBs), and was a complete bust. That draft was 20 years ago.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
Seriously Iowa? Don’t be jinxing my Bears this weekend. The other thing that makes Mitch a higher prospect is [drumroll] Ryan Pace’s questionable decisions + Bears ownership [clears throat] + a franchise absolutely starving for a QB...and I’m a Bears fan. Haha. Not that I dislike Mitch, but Haskins ceiling....wow. Not to mention, the NFL is not what it was when Akili played. Much more pass happy, and harder and harder to play D, while not being able to touch the QB w/o a penalty, so there’s that....
"Three things can happen when you pass the ball, and two of them are bad." - Woody
comment on "worse case scenario" or just teams managing expectations and psych warfare between teams over a prized asset makes more common sense. The kid threw for 50 TDs vs 8 INTs, and 98% of the TDs was NEEDED as opposed to garbage time, plus working with a group of relatively "unproven' receivers. Those are the facts. and the results. in a Power 5 conference. It wasn't a fluke. Hate to say it, but the converse may be Cardale Jones, who had a group of crazy good receivers that made him looked real good with the passing game (Michael Thomas, Jalin Marshall, Devin Smith, Evan Spencer, Corey Smith, etc...these guys were miles ahead of the WR group of this past season; no disrespect to them at all).
Haskins going lower than the 10th pick would be an indictment on NFL teams more than on him, and it won't happen.
I feel like this happens every year. During and immediately after the CFB season, the scouts point to the draft-eligible QBs' imperfections -- which, because QB is the most under-the-microscope position, aren't hard to find -- and undersell them. Then, once the teams start looking at who they want, QBs rocket up the draft boards. Because, you know, QB is a really frigging important position.
Every other year, it seems the draft analysts tell me there aren't many "can't miss" QB prospects. Then, every time, a couple QBs go in the top 10. Trubisky is a pretty good example. So are the QBs drafted last year.
Having Fuller back is like Christmas in January. EPSN isn't the only company lost on their idiot selves who think they are too big to fail.
They are failing. Chris Fowler and that entire MNF crew are all of the proof you need.
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
agreed. i used to watch a good bit of espn - now, not counting nba and college football games, i watch less than a couple hours a year.
Idk what happened to Fowler, that dude has turned straight terrible. Maybe Herbie's carrot skin gives off some mind-melting aura.
I don't know what happened either. Maybe that is who he always was. I don't watch tennis, so I would not know. But Gameday used to be my favorite thing.
I thought about something the other day. Everyone talks about how ESPNs rating are down every year and how they are failing. Can you imagine what their ratings would be if every sports bar in America didn't have SportsCenter on every TV for 18 hours a year?
I am not sure you understand how ratings work.
You are entitled to you own opinion, not your own facts.
Impressive maturity on the part of Miller, who will be a Buckeye great. Makes me ashamed to think of my own level of maturuty at that age ...
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
Hell, it makes me ashamed of my maturity level at my current age.
"Because we couldn't go for three"
Every article I've read on Harry Miller leaves me more impressed ... and I knew he was a must-get from the first one. It's clear he is going to be a great Buckeye (not just on the field) and I suspect we'll be talking about him for years to come.
Harry Miller; wise beyond his years; NFL execs and talent evaluators; mostly as dumb as a box of rocks; with inflated egos.
The only hard day was yesterday
Michael Thomas motor and commitment to working hard is what makes him elite. Sure, he is gifted with talent, but his work ethic separates him.
Separation is in the preparation
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Too often people want to be great but they do not want to become great. I say that all the time as a coach.
Great to see Fuller back!
Somebody forgot to delete the template on the first paragraph.
So funny. I actually thought it was a joke that I was missing...

Sigh. I just checked in. Yes, I did forget.
A man named ‘Booger’ with a voice like her’s...
With school starting Monday at OSU, one would think Fields would be visiting this weekend as the window is short between bowl games completed Tuesday night and school getting underway. Wonder if Tater will be his host??
Thought they’re in a dead period where visits aren’t allowed until the 10th?
They hate us cuz they aint us!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fields isn't a recruit.
Down with ESPN and there SEC love affair.

Well, if you are in Kentucky or Tennessee it would be...’ere’
If Michael Jordan chooses to return, the interior of the OL is in very good shape, even with having to find a new center, but either Matthew Jones, Josh Myers or Harry Miller will capably step into the position. Let's hope Michael Jordan decides that another year at Ohio State is to his benefit, on many levels. And the situation at tackle for next year isn't bad either, except, perhaps, too little depth.
"I love football. I think it is the most wonderful game in the world and I despise to lose." WOODY HAYES
I think the depth at tackle will be as good as we've seen in recent years - Munford, NPF (now powered up by Coach Mick), Alabi, and Bowen (fully recovered). (plus Wray, who may not yet be ready).
I think we’re extremely thin at tackle and aside from Munford, very unproven. We didn’t take any in 2017 and that’s catching up to us.
No sarcasm here, hasn’t it felt we’ve been thin on the entire OLine for years...maybe it’s me? Feels like we miss out on someone or someone leaves. I mean didn’t we have to convert a TE to play T?
You're right. The depth us as good as it's been in a while (even if the top guys are quite as good). And you're right on the converted TE (Fragel) but there have also been converted DL (Baldwin, Farris, Price and now Alabi).
We're ok for 2019 (probably with 4 guys ready to see the field) but without reinforcements, we could be super thin in 2020 with the departure of Alabi, Bowen and possibly Munford.
So stoked to have fuller and white in the back end of that defense for an entire season. Let’s fucking go.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
If Haskins is late first round projection......he's coming back!
The more Tate tweets the more foolish he looks.
Stop tweeting Tate.
OH-IO living in SEC! SEC! Ville
Agreed. I know he was highly recruited by Urban but for some reason i feel like he isn’t ever going to be the starter and will be a transfer after next season.
I Hate Michigan.
and there in lies Tate’s biggest problem. Urban was his biggest cheerleader and now he’s gone. Even before the Fields drama started, I had thought Baldwin has much a chance as anyone - Day’s first big, hand-picked recruit.
But Tate has learned under Day.
Sure, but Day has Urban’s whistle now.
I feel the exact same way.
That very loud man that was standing on a chair and yelling at the bar last night sounded intelligent and articulate - Said nobody ever.
Not foolish... He is engaged and confident. Two great qualities for any player on the team. He may or may not prove to be capable as a starting QB for THE OSU, but would you want someone taking up a scholarship who just quietly hopes he gets a chance to play? I'd rather see a guy go for it. He's acting like the leader he wants to become. Nothing wrong with trying and putting yourself out there.
The problem I have, is he has on occasion crossed over a line of confidence into a little desperation. I don't like what amounts to direct comments to Fields. When he does that, he sounds like he lacks confidence and knows his best hope to play and start is to keep Fields from coming. When he talks about the confidence in his game, I agree with you. When he spoke and tried to make it sound like he was doing Fields a solid telling him the offense is tough to pickup and he doesn't want him to be disappointed, I wish he would instead say "No comment".
He's being strategic. he wants to play. Fields provide an additional competition. yes. as fans, we all say, "I want someone who"s not afraid of competition and battles it out". it's not about being afraid. it's about being smart. you wouldn't put in 10 years of extra work just so you can learn how to cross the street walking with your hands. doesn't mean you are "afraid" of the challenge. a kid has at most 4 years of eligibility and every year someone new comes in that threatens his entire purpose of being at the OSU and likely his potential career and future.
Without Fields, Tate's chances of starting is at worse 50/50. With Fields, it's less than that. Anything he can do to increase his chance is something he should do. "football is a game of inches". Being a hero is the mental fabrication of spectators and fans. players actually have to play.
He really doesn't tweet that often. I follow him and for the most part, 95% of what he says is non-controversial and not provocative. I don't even see how the tweet to Michael Jordan is a big deal.
If you want to see foolish, you should see the tweets from so-called Buckeye fans who denigrate him. Some "fan" replied to Tate with something to the effect of "Yeah, because Fields is going to need him when he starts over you."
Just a reminder folks--tweeting at college players (or worse yet, recruits) is a usually bad thing. especially for adults. Stay out of it.
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
That is so true. He is sounding like a little schoolgirl. Just shut up. If you are as good as you say you are, your talent will do your talking. Don’t be a little bitch.
It's been 2596 days since TTUN has beaten Ohio State. It's 6:25 AM in Columbus, and Michigan still sucks!
Here's to keeping Fridays Michigan-free in the Forums in 2019.

We are gonna steamroll next year!!!!
Wait. Isn't today Friday?
Today IS Friday, but this isn't the Forum. He's exploiting a loophole.
F- Michigan Fridays means no threads, links or articles about that team, that coach or those players.
Pointing out how long it has been since they last managed to beat Ohio State is acceptable every day, and twice on Saturdays.

Not sure what to make of the dead man found with nothing but an Opal card in his pocket, but from the way it reads he had to be illegally in Australia and hiding. Sad no matter what.
Haskins may not be ready to start in the NFL on day 1, but with all of the terrible qb's in the league right now there is no way he should drop anywhere past the top dozen picks. And at 12 sit the Green Bay Packers, who still need a backup that has talent and will need a starter in a couple of years.
Michael Thomas gets it, unlike so many players and wide receivers in particular in the league. Good for him-keep doing you Mike.
"They say, "these geeks come a dime a dozen. I'm lookin' for the guy who's supplyin' the dimes." -Classy Freddie Blassie
And at 12 sit the Green Bay Packers, who still need a backup that has talent and will need a starter in a couple of years.
Not to be argumentative but the Packers traded for D. Kizer last season for that very role. Kizer has the arm talent but he doesn’t have Dwayne’s touch or brain.
GB traded for Kizer because they desperately wanted to get rid of a CB and wanted to get something of value from it. Not exactly sure they grabbed Kizer bc they thought he could be the future, post-Rodgers. Kizer hasn't played well in his limited snaps
If Green Bay wanted an experienced back up qb they could have had it. And they couldn’t have gotten value out of another position player. He was coming off his rookie season and left ND early so he wasn’t a finished project. I’m not saying they plan on him being the heir apparent but they certainly didn’t end up with him on the roster because they aren’t intrigued by his talent.
And Rodgers new contract is almost fully guaranteed through I believe 2023. There is no way they are going to invest in a 1st round QB for him to sit the bench the next 5 years.
NYGiants are at 6 or 7 and would pick Haskins. So not sure why he is now late 1st rounder. But oh well, would love another year of Haskins in scarlet and gray
I’m sticking w my original call of Chucky dumping Carr, and taking Haskins [at #4 now].
Local theory is NYGiants would trade up to get Haskins.
At this point the NYGiants would trade up to get Joe Namath.
Explain, because amazingly only 3 active QBs in the NFL have MULTIPLE SB rings....
1) Brady (41) = 5
2) Big Ben (36) = 2
3) Eli (38) = 2
It could be on the O line, but Eli looks slow, out of sync, and his numbers and perfomance are terrible. And I like Eli. I understand about the super bowl rings, but the G men need more offense than Saquon Barkley to win consistantly.
It’s the O line. Eli doesn’t need to be great.
I Think Eli is good, but aging. Aging faster because of the O line issues.
Possibly, thats why I put ages in () above.
I gotta pull for those New Orleans Buckeyes in these play offs this year.
The late 1st round talk is probably coming from a team that needs a QB and is sandbagging Haskins in the desperate hope he'll be available when their turn comes. Those kinds of shenanigans get reported every year around this time.
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
Teams panic on qbs. Haskins is clearly the top guy if he goes, someone will move up to get him. Not waiting til late 1st. I think Giants at 6 is perfect for him.
Cant wait to see what stupid forums pop up today!
I heard a rumor the Jags were looking to trade up in front of the Giants to get him. No way he falls out of the top 10.
I honestly don’t get how Haskins draft stock isn’t top at least considered to be Top 10. I can count 15-20 qbs that we’re drafted in the top 15 the last 10 years that couldn’t sniff his season from last year and who didn’t pass the eye test like he does. It’s almost as if there is stain of media bias on the program that is now starting to affect draft status and cost these kids money. It has to stop.
Draft statuses will be fine. The media will just be wrong, per usual...
To be fair that’s not the a media personality saying that. Sounds like a scout who, as said above, is sandbagging a Haskins in hopes he’ll fall to them
1. Late first round? Sounds like an NFL team is trying to darkle Haskins' prospects in faint hopes of getting a draft bargain.
2. Harry Miller is a budding leader. Get him on campus and start the path.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
Haskins is coming back due to some unfinished business..he has a couple more trophies to add to his collection..
If there was ever a player that could get both of those done it is DH.
It's too bad one of those trophies is picked by the media rather than on-field results
He'd get extra credit from this season. He'd have a one year head start on his campaign.

Since the Bengals are currently what the Browns used to be, there has been a major effort by sportscasters in this town to offer their opinions on how to fix the team. The main suggestion has been to hire all coaches-including the head coach--from outside the current organization. The latest suggestion this week is that with the number 1 pick that they should draft Haskins--if he comes out. They are really on the Haskins bandwagon and it seems like most fans are buying the idea. I would love to see him back next year at OSU. But, if the Bengals draft him with that pick--which would be a very high pick, that would put him right where he needs to be to become a very rich young man. The downside to that is it just seems too logical and the Bengals rarely make logical choices. But with Price, Hubbard, and Haskins that would be a start. GO BUCKS!
The other problem is that it could completely tank his professional career if he ends up there.
The Bengals are nowhere near what the Browns used to be, not even close to that bad. Haskins to the Bengals would be a waste of a pick by them and hurt Haskins potential second contract. Dalton is not going anywhere for a while and Haskins would be beaten half to death by that line, Dalton looks like a running QB compared to him.
It's nice of Martell trying to make sure Fields will have the best OL in the nation protecting him. /s, maybe not /s
He's a team player
2nd biggest B10 story of the night after Jordan Fuller news.....
PSU is now miles away from being on par next season as it was this season!!!!
I heard yesterday that Sanders was declaring. Was there something else?
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
Sanders declaring is huge. No one was expecting that.
Also OG Connor McGovern and OL Ryan Bates declared too.
Add in no McSorley. PSU is gonna be bad next year. Probably lose 5-6 games.
No one is going to listen to Tessitore, Witten, and Booger McFarland call the Championship game. They are awful.
Fields of Dreams
I used to listen to College Football Live, but a daily dose of Booger and Desmond finally became too much to stomach. Even Maria Taylor couldn't salvage that clown circus.
ESPiN executives might have have the worst business acumen of any group in television. Of course I’d rather watch/listen to Booger McFarland than Kevin Sumlin or Herm Edwards or Pat Narduzzi. Of course I would... in their dreams.
Booger and Tess might be a better listen than Fowler and Herbie.
True, but that’s setting the bar low.
I think Herbie is good, but Fowler might be the worst CFB announcer on today, yet somehow he gets all of the big games. He somehow makes me wish Beth Mowins was doing the game.
We should get a contract to always have Gus Johnson call The Buckeyes games.
Booger, Tess, and Witten might be the worst commentators in all of sports
Haskins will go undrafted this year. He should totally come back this year and maybe even stay 2 more years.
Anonymous NFL evaluator: "You might be able to get Haskins later in the first round.” This guy reminds me of two other wishful thinkers in American business history . . .
Happy to have Fuller back - he'll be one of the leaders on the new style defense !!
ESPN is in the fortunate position of selling a product that lots of people crave, sports. Even idiots can sell people something they can't seem to live without. And I can't believe they actually think people watch the games because of the announcers. That'd be like favoring a restaurant because they have the best parking valet. The current team is probably the worst they have ever used.
Booger ruined MNF for me.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Can't believe they picked him. Someone should wipe him under the seat
Leave one wolf alive....and the sheep are never safe
They should not have picked Booger...
The lack of a Justin Fields mention tells me he’s coming today
You nailed it.
This guy is who is making late round grades for Haskins, this is the guy everyone is pissed at this morning? Never heard of the dude before, don't really value his opinion on the subject.
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
A few things from this Friday Session...
1- Don't really get the Tate hate, be as confident and cocky as you want. I think he surprises alot of people if he gets the starting job (which I think simply comes down to if Fields transfers here or not)
2- ESPN has proven time and time again that they are as bad of a network as there is. So weird that they couldn't interview 3 candidates at once but can have 4 guys doing a telecast, with all 4 of them being babbling idiots.
3- Love anonymous scouts. As mentioned by others, it's clearly a team who wants him trying to sandbag him. I mean look at last year...Allen, Darnold, and Rosen were all what, top 11 picks? With a lot more question marks than Haskins and without Haskins stats. Darnold I will never understand the love, he is a mediocre at best QB with a noodle arm. To me he's basically Jake Browning with more publicity.
To think of where Michael Thomas is now after everything that went on at Ohio State is truly amazing. I don't think anyone ever doubted his potential and/or talent but something just clicked with the kid his last two years at Ohio State and the sky the limit.
Since my Brownies didn't make the playoffs I shall be puling for the New Orleans Buckeyes again this year.

1) grown man callin himself "booger".......no.
2) last week I saw a commercial stating ESPN is starting the ACC network later this year. 2 days later, there's an article on their website saying how great 4 consecutive years of Alabama/Clemson is the best thing for college football. If you were sick of the overhyping of the SEC, you aint seen nothing yet! Just wait until you start to hear how tough the ACC is and how they are the only rival to the SEC. We've already seen how the ACC has gotten overinflated rankings this year, I expect next year the top 25 will be every SEC and ACC school....and Ohio State.
I bleed scarlet...literally
Agree with everything you said, except it will be Michigan, not Ohio State at the bottom of the ranking. I mean, they are returning their god, sleep-over Jimmy, AND Shea! It wouldn't be normal without Michigan claiming to be February Heisman winners and September National Champions, would it?
Since I'm boycotting the CFBCG, I will instead say...
Go Dallas Cowboys. Go Zeke. Beat the Seahawks. (And keeping a sharp eye on the Buckeye-laden Saints.)
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I'm not very smart. --- W.W. Hayes
Haskins... late first rounder? Possibly second? Well, the footballs gods have spoken. There's nothing more for him to do...
EXCEPT for coming back next year, beating Alabama in the CFP championship game (do we really think anyone else will be the opponent?), collecting his Heisman trophy, and being one of the top 5 picks in next years class.
Well... a guy can dream, can't I?
Not utilizing Michael Thomas more in the 2015 season was virtually criminal.
Make preparations in advance. You never have trouble if you are prepared for it.
Joe Tessitore, Booger McFarland, Jason Witten and Todd McShay.
Hard pass. Those guys are clowns.
Come on Kevin don't hold back, tell us how you really feel about ESecPN.
Booger is BAAAAAAD! That jerk gets paid all that money to do what he does??
Odd, I think his is the best part of the crew and wish he was in the booth. Witten is a door knob. If he left the crew would be much, much better.
That said, I think the thought that the crew makes that much of a difference is bit overstated.
Kevin is so right about this MNF Film Room nonsense. I would have watched just to see the old coaches breaking down the film as it happens. Instead, Disney is replacing it with "Football for Dummies" with Booger McFarland spouting his irritating nonsense. I will pass on this game altogether.
You've got barbecue back there?
I think the Tate Train goes into hyper drive this year! Let's face it, it was a toss up until a few weeks before opening kick-off and Haskins got the nod, and the way our defense played for most of the year, the coaches were in no position to get cute! I'm hoping Tate gets the chance to light things up under Day! But, what the hell do I know about these things and they're getting paid to make these decisions!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
