If Haskins wasn’t the majority #1 QB before yesterday, he’s got to be the unanimous #1 at this point. The plot thickens
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Does he play for fame, or for fortune?
That is the question.
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
He can actually get both in the NFL.
He "can" or "might"?
I was waiting for a college-educated poster to finish Hamlet's soliloquy about nobility of purpose and on-coming death, but alas the wait goes unfulfilled.
And so, here are ample ideas from Shakespeare for discussion. Buck68 where art thou?
To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing, end them...
Who would fardels [burdens] bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscovered country, from whose bourn
No traveler returns, puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have,
Than fly to others that we know not of.
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all...
Bosa and Haskins could very well go #1 and #2 in the draft, or vice versa. Wouldn't that just be the icing on the cake.
I get the icing part of Buckeyes being 1&2 but what would be the cake... the Rose Bowl? I’m still a little pissed about having to “settle” for the Granddaddy.
Buckeye til I die
I just don't see the allure of Herbert. Saw a couple of games this year and was significantly underwhelmed. I see the stature, but...
"It's so easy to be average...to HELL WITH THAT" - Urban Meyer
I see him in the same vein as Darnold or Rosen. Guys who have the measurables who never really proved anything at the college level
Agreed. Very underwhelmed by what I saw from him.
Go get that money Mr. Haskins. OSU will be in good hands with Tate. I heard we may be bringining in a backup from GA, so that should add some depth anyway.
Perfect run down on the Cheez It Bowl, Kevin. That game was ridiculous the greatest ever played.
It was as if we were watching The Gummie Bowl.
They’ll have something like that in just a few years.
The Cheez-It Bow was almost as good as the ServPro First Responders Bowl. Almost.
Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall. (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
My lovely wife asked which bowl game this was, and to be truthful - I had to mash the info button on the remote to give an answer. We both had a chuckle, then she asked if I wanted a snack, which made me laugh again. The game itself was high comedy.
Despite the high cost of living, it still remains popular.
I knew it was gotta be good when TCU was starting a QB that had zero collegiate starts as a senior, and on their first possession the game they were unable to get passed their own 20 yard line AFTER making a first down..
Nine combined interceptions
It’s been renamed the Cheez-I(n)t Bowl.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
I watched it and thought it was one of the shittiest games I have ever seen. It was awful
The lord of brevity.
I'm so stupid. I watched that terrible game until the bitter end. What a waste of time.
Actually, it doesn't matter how the Big Ten does in Bowl Games. Michigan can self destruct all it wants.
I don't have to cheer for Michigan to see if 3-6 Minnesota can wallop a fake ass team from the ACC, Georgia Tech 5-3. It is their conference records I posted. Now go back to Joel Klatt the first time showing gross over rating by the CFP of bad teams in the ACC. Well done, Minnesota.Word of the day = man handled
In the spirit of the announcements, I'd like to announce that I will not be watching the Peach Bowl, as I have decided to skip the game to focus on my writing about other, more meaningful games.
Troll of the Year candidate.
I might post his quip at mgoblog. Being “banned” in the internet world? Lol.
Debating to root for Fuckedagain or not???? who the F who is a true Buckeye fan would even think twice about rooting for them?????
I will never root for them to do anything else but lose.
I rooted for TSUN exactly 1 time, in LLLLLLLoyd's last game, against a certain National Championship winning coach and Heisman winning QB. I felt so damned dirty I had to take a shower after the game.
They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them.
Apparently this Joey V d-bag is rooting for Michigan now. I call bullshit on this. No one from Columbus Ohio that grew up rooting for OSU can then go to school at Michigan and really root to beat OSU. i call this guy a total fraud. Type of person that would change his tune based on whoever he is hanging with but no way he actually believes it. Sounds like an attention seeker to me
Eh, I have to disagree. Growing up in CBus and rooting for the Bucks doesn't necessarily make him a die hard. I know plenty of folks from CBus who are, at best, casual fans. And even if he was/is a big fan, your own team almost certainly takes precedence over that fandom in a head-to-head.
Also, this is going to sound harsh, but as the lowest rated recruit in his class, there's a decent chance we never see the kid again. I wouldn't be shocked if this move was a creative way to get another body on the football team without burning a scholarship (I know he was offered a football scholarship, but what if UM does some funny business behind the scenes to make it a baseball one). Especially true if Harbaugh jumps ship soon, IMO. So his comments have about as much resonance as a fart in the wind.
Michigan has me pulling for teams I speak out against, like the Domers.
In the ongoing Diehard debate, folks overlook that in Diehard II Holly McClane is flying home to DC, for Christmas. Ergo, the second best Christmas movie.
If you can't be a Buckeye, it's good to know one
Agreed. I was watching Die Hard 2 just yesterday. The bad guys all have their "Christmas presents" hiding bad guy things, and Holly is indeed flying home for Christmas. The first Die Hard is certainly a Christmas movie, but 2 should also be in the conversation.
"They say, "these geeks come a dime a dozen. I'm lookin' for the guy who's supplyin' the dimes." -Classy Freddie Blassie
There are many references in the movie to Christmas, this is why Die Hard and Die Hard II are my 2 favorite Christmas movies.
Watched them with my 16 and 17 year olds for the first time this week. They agreed both are definitely Christmas movies.
The best argument I’ve heard against DieHard I and II being Christmas movies is that you can watch them any time of the year and not feel like you’re watching a Christmas movie, while no one's going to air or watch White Christmas or It’s A Wonderful Life or A Christmas Story in August.
But, I’ll watch Elf anytime.
I watch Christmas Vacation on my birthday in March
Bless Joey Velazquez’s little heart...
Chase Winovich already has an heir apparent.
Does Joey have long, flowing locks?
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Just picture older brother has a stiffarm to Joey's forehead while he wildly throws punches that can't reach the target. He will shut up after he wears himself out or gets his ass handed to him. Whichever comes first.
Lots of unsold Revenge Tour T-shirts are available. If they’re not dated, Michigan’s players can roll out this year’s surplus again next year. If Winovich copyrighted the term, he could get rich off Ohio State crushing their fans’ dreams every year.
Sounds like Joey has a little Kyle Kalis in him...
The Southern Death Wish
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
I sure hope that big Buckeye door hits him in the ass on his way out AND when he comes back to the Shoe for a visit.
It's 10:01am CST and Michigan still and always SUCKS!!!!!
Go Bucks, beat the Husky's!!
The only hard day was yesterday
Bold words from a guy who will almost never see the field. And I forget, how well does TTUN players predicting victories usually work out?
Herbert staying helps the Buckeyes as a team as well as Haskins personally. If Herbert plays his senior year Ohio Stare will be facing a first year starter when they visit Oregon in September 2020.
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret, take your pick
Also, this is a bit speculative, but it can't hurt the OSU brand and/or Day's street cred if Haskins goes No. 1 overall -- or somewhere close. That seems all but guaranteed, unless something drastic and unexpected happens between now and the Draft. (Which is unlikely; I expect Haskins to light-up the Combine).
If Die Hard is a Christmas movie, then why isn't Lethal Weapon? It starts out with a Christmas song, shows Mel Gibson buying coke in a tree lot, has Christmas decorations everywhere...it's practically Miracle on 34th Street with guns and drug cartels.
To err is human. Really sucking requires having yellow stripes on your helmet.
I can go with this. Lethal Weapon is now the 2nd greatest Christmas movie of all time.
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
To be fair, I can't imagine having to make a choice between not playing major college football and playing for ttun. I'd probably choose ttun, but I'd also probably become a serious alcoholic.
My mom always asked me the same question growing up. Would you play football for TTUN if they were the only ones who offered me a scholarship? I always had the same answer: no, because if they’re offering me a scholarship, you can be sure someone else is too.
This was always my logic too...
I would tell the same thing to my parents about Duke basketball. Wouldn't go, but would leverage everything I could out of them to go somewhere else. Because if a program like that is recruiting you then you have at least a couple other decent options.
I like how you change her hypothetical. If TTUN is literally the only school giving you a scholarship then does that change your answer?
1. Today's lesson in epicaricacy: While nothing coming from up north should be considered adroit, I do not take Velasquez's thoughts on the rivalry as gauche either. 2,588 days.
2. The seatbelt article should have given more credit to Robert Strange McNamara's efforts to make the Ford Falcon safer.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
The seat belt link was a good way to start a day where I have to be driving a lot. I think I probably knew much of the info already, but it was presented in a fun way.
Let Joey Velasquez do his thing. He made the choice and now he has to deal with the losing.
The Cheez-Its Bowl was beyond nuts. It was an enjoyable watch in a car wreck sort of way. I expected more out of Cal to be honest. As for Georgia Tech, no idea how they could be so irrelevant in Paul Johnson's last game, but Minny was up and down all year and they were up yesterday. Any team that thumped Purdue but got slaughtered by Illinois is by definition impossible to predict.
It’s gonna be fun for the Buckeye players to show Joey Kalis their gold pants over the next 4-5 seasons.
Fields of Dreams
He was probably banking on Zach Harrison fleeing up north with him. But that hasn't happened so I guess the border isn't as open as he made it out to be lol.
My money on Haskins returns.
OH-IO living in SEC! SEC! Ville
I will take that bet! I would love to see it but there is no chance he turns down top-ten money. He has nothing left to prove at the collegiate level.
@OH-IO: you need to use italics for sarcasm or people will think you’re serious.
What kind of odds can I get?
Nah; he'll be getting paid a lot of money to hold a clipboard next year.
Velazquez carrying on the tradition of flapping gums before even doing a damn thing. Win first and then talk smack. Don’t be another Kalis, Malzone, Hart, Higdon and countless others. STFU and get your DeSales degree.
If die hard is everyone’s second favorite Christmas movie, then what is the first?
It’s national lampoons, and then everything else.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
I second this^
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
See my post above. I watch it on my birthday.
Agreed on the "2 day shipping". Just ordered two items from Amazon yesterday, with one item listing "2 days" next to a shipping date 8 days later and another "2 day" item 3 days later.
I get an extra day (or two) because of the Holidays, but over a week and still calling it two days? Come on.
USPS isn’t any better. My mom paid for two day delivery to ship gifts to all my siblings. We took them in on a Tuesday afternoon and were told they’d be delivered by Saturday. We had a good laugh trying to figure out the math on that.
First: Busy time of the year
Second: At least USPS didn't tell you the package would be there by Thursday.
BTW...the day that you mail it doesn't count as day one.
Nor the day it’s delivered or any one of the three days in-between, apparently.
Again, you speak about something about which you have no knowledge...
I know what I know: We paid for 2-day delivery and it took four days. Not one package but six. I don't know how much more information I need than that.
But, hey, keeping making excuses and defending the USPS by using my "ignorance" to defend whatever your point is because, in your mind at least, the customer is always wrong. Don't give me "busy time of year" or some other crap. If it's a 2-day rate, either make it two days or say it's a 4-day rate.
Forget it...you can't grasp the concept...
I can't really hate too much because what's he really supposed to say?
Well, he's not supposed to say this... “I don’t think anybody is going to get any gold pants any time soon.”
Year after year after year some dumbass representing ttun offers his loudmouthed, arrogant for absolutely no reason inane opinion, and he denigrates Ohio State in the process. And year after year after year their conceited words are shoved back down their pompous throats syllable by syllable. When you're the bitch in the rivalry, and you've been the bitch for two decades, you should have enough sense to simply say, "We're going to do our best to try to turn this thing around" and leave it at that. What a dope... and a traitorous one at that.
We've been debating whether to root for Michigan in bowl games.
No, we really haven't. People have overwhelmingly stated that they would never root for *ichigan, despite the minority telling us that we should. No debate here.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
I can appreciate the sentiments above.
But, was he even offered a football scholly? Unless he felt snubbed, I don't get his heel turn...
OSU did not offer him a football scholly. Baseball only.
Hi 11W! First time caller, long time reader. Felt the need to jump aboard and partake, as well as express my gratitude for Coach Meyer.
This coming Rose Bowl should be another good one, and a fitting send-off.
Welcome to 11W, SecondGuyIn.
Thanks, Major H!
Welcome, SGI - enjoy active commenting.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Thanks, Hovenaut! Appreciate you and the other moderators, and wishing CalPoppy well!

Welcome, Guy! Glad to have another Warrior
In the spirit of the announcements, I'd like to announce that I will not be watching the Peach Bowl
Right there with you ... and I don't really care to see Alabama or Clemson play either.
Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege.
Tyrion: A wedding.
It occurred to me last night while at a restaurant, seeing a mention of Clemson on the TV, that I don't even know when the playoff games are happening! I will be interested in the scores, but have no interest in watching them.

Who in the hell is Joey Velazquez?
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Someone that did something once....maybe
N-SYNC, look him up.
Velazquez, and all TTUN players, just need to say nothing and try to actually win. It's comical.
Congratulations Joey Valazque on playing two (2) sports in College. It's rarity you can lose to Ohio State twice in one year." But Shit Happens Bum Juice. " Your sacrifice's in life to play for scUm will not go unnoticed. Good Luck Joey wishing you healthy college career in both baseball and football. As always Fuck scUm...Go Bucks
Fewer points scored in regulation (14) than varieties of Cheez-Its (16).
This is the kind of analysis that keeps me coming back to 11W day after day.
Woke up hungry for Cheez- Its this morning. Not sure why.
Watched the Cheez-its game from Dallas area, Allen, Texas. My Direct TV was a mess because of the thunder storms. Maybe I saw a different game, but that was the worst quarterback play by two teams in one game. Sure there was nine interceptions but there was nine interceptions. I've seen better quarterback play in junior high.
I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box but I'm one of the most colorful.
Haskins needs to decide if chasing dollars in the NFL is worth leaving school early to get drafted by some crappy team and thrown to the wolves. The kid is uber smart which is why I think he’s going to come back next year to OSU and develop his skills more, and hope to get a better draft situation. Can you imagine him getting drafted by New England or Pittsburgh rather than NYG (or another team with an aging HOF QB?). I don’t know. But how about those Golden Gophers!! B1G Pride!! Yeah, I love watching B1G teams roll “superior teams” from other conferences. I think it DOES matter if the B1G goes 8-1 again. Perception is reality and we can change it.
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
Haskins may decide to return, but if he does so because he thinks he will improve his draft prospects he is being foolish. Since most of the teams expected to have the top picks already have QB's that makes it likely a better team with a need at QB could make a trade to move into the top five to select him. Next season that would be unlikely. Therefore if he goes this season he could very well be selected in the top five by a team with more overall talent then the usual teams holding the top picks. He could well have his cake and eat it too. Or he might land in a bad situation, but that could happen just as easily if he waits for next season. Its a crap shoot no matter when he goes.
It is a crap shoot but he doesn’t need a Sam Darnold situation either. Drafting an experienced QB like Mayfield for the Browns is one thing, but put an inexperienced on like Haskins or as we’ve seen with Darnold it’s disastrous. “Better” draft for him would be to go to a team with a solid program and QB that’s close to retirement like NE,Pitt, NO, or perhaps even LAC or Indy. I just want a good situation for him, and that’s not going to a hot mess. We shall see. I put him at 50/50 stay/go. Maybe even 60/40 stay because clearly he’s not announced yet and in no hurry. I do hate this situation because it actually feels like we’re pushing him out of the bird nest. “Everyone” thinks he should go. I’m happy either way. We in good hands.
I've previously laid out an argument for Haskins staying, but it doesn't include him being the first QB off the board, which is now very likely and will be a foregone after next Tuesday's rout in Pasadena. I've pretty much given up on DH in S&G in 2019, but anything's possible. It's looking like a legit 3 man race at tOSU next spring, with the short man out. Seems a shame to have Burro II go to greener pastures, but it seems inevitable. (I italicized short man but it didn't show up in the final post)
It's looking like a legit 3 man race at tOSU next spring, with the short man out.
He has a name, Steely. No need to call him short man...s/

If I were in charge of the bulletin board, this would be on there today.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
That Amazon article author sounds like a commie.
Complains on and on about diapers not being delivered in 2 days. Lives right near (probably several) places that sell them that require going outside and had to stick in a completely unnecessary qualifier about it also being a bad company. Wouldn't be surprised if he also would complain about pizza delivery wait time if he ordered online (because the phone option requires human conversation) 30 minutes before the Super Bowl kicks off.
Kudos to Rob Sims. He was a good guy when he was out here, so I'm not surprised. He used to come to watch Buckeye games with us when his Seahawks schedule allowed.
