It's nice to have a coach in Hartline who will actually be a great accent to the football program.

The 2020 class is going to be absurd.  I'm hoping we can round out the WR Corp with Fleming and Jarrett.

It's great to have a WR coach who can both coach and recruit. This should put to rest any doubts about Hartline as a recruiter. Great Christmas present!

Not any?? That’s a pretty sweeping statement and one that isn’t true if you have been reading any of the comments of late.

HS
Bucks19's picture

No. None at all. From the first week he took the job and the job he’s done recruiting, there has been zero questions on his ability to recruit. That’s been evident all fall if you’ve been following recruiting

HS
Silver Sniper's picture

I’ve seen a lot of folks questioning his ability to recruit. That was supposedly one of Zach Smiths strong suits. So while Hartline appeared to be a strong on-field position coach right off, folks wanted to see if he could also recruit.

HS
Bucks19's picture

From Day 1 he has had a great impact

HS

Looks like recruiting is still strong. Ttun mgo board is already counting on us losing the ability to recruit at an elite level. I guess they should just get used to playing against superior talent every year.

They expect it to really fall cuz Urban is leaving. I told them to not pay attention to the 2020 class.

HS
irishfury's picture

Hey Urban took to new levels.  The first year is really important.  Lose 3 games and it will hurt bad if we lose 1 or undefeated I expect the ship to stay the same and people look at Day as the next big thing.  He already has QB coaches raving about him and qb wanting to be the next Haskin.  So I think where good but really worried about next year plus the Urban years have been my fav as a fan.

Yeah. The comparison to Boldin...’nuff said.

Hartline may be blazing a path for other former GAs. Cordle and Anunike come to mind.

Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

If you have not had a chance to read the article in the Irish Sports Daily that Andrew linked I'd encourage you to do so.  The article explains how Gee became the WR prospect and young man that he is.  Thanks for the share Andrew.  Go Bucks!

Any relation to E. Gordon Gee?

HS
ibuck's picture

E. Gordon Gee is an Ohio State and bow tie aficionado.

Gee Scott Jr has heard of bow ties, and is an aficionado of Ohio State.

Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !

Thank you.

My post was supposed to have the sarcasm font to poke fun of the bookend ‘Gee’.  Alas, my previous post just appears to be exposing my legitimate dimwittedness.

Great get for Hartline and Day, and I think Scott has a very bright future ahead.

Superb recruit. He is smart, well-spoken, hard-working and is 100% bought into what OSU football is about.

Well spoken? Not sure I understand what that means.

HS

Two idiotic comments in the same thread with no attempt at adding anything of worth...flagged as a troll.

HS
Bucks19's picture

It was a serious question. What exactly does that mean?

HS
Silver Sniper's picture

Bucks19, if it was a serious question then my apologies.

well spo·ken
adjective

(of a person) speaking in an educated and refined manner.

synonyms: articulate, eloquent, coherent, nicely spoken

HS
Bucks19's picture

Another serious question. Why is it always an African- American who is described as “well spoken”?

HS
Silver Sniper's picture

I don’t even know what to say about that other than why can’t he be well-spoken without you having to make it about race? I thought he was well-spoken. Did you not think he was? I seriously can’t tell if you’re really this dense or trying to troll.

Hartline, is a great upcoming coach.  He is proving that on his recruiting. I hope a couple more WR's in the fold. Fleming and Jarret would be nice!!  Welcome aboard Gee Scott!!

HS
ScarletGray43157's picture

Scott looks like a possession receiver, not one who can take the top off of a defense.  A threat inside the red zone or when a first down is needed.  If he is as good as advertised then his skills will really help OSU Football.

In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...

Similar to Mack on the current team. Like the Anquan Bolden comp as well. Smith-Njigba is very similar to Hill IMO. Nice to have different styles of guys.

HS
buckslan's picture

Scott jr is already 6'3" 211lbs. In our receiver group he'd be the 3rd tallest (Victor and Harris) and 3rd in weight (Harris and Mack) and he's only a junior in high school. Im curious to see what he maxes out at when he gets here. Mack is 6'2" 215 and Jaylen Harris is 6'5" 215.

HS
LeftCoastBuckeye's picture

Blue Smith is 6'6".  We didn't see much of him this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing him in future years.

My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.   - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)

I thought the Driving with Gee segment with Nick Vannett was real interesting, particularly the parts about Meyer's program.  Gee's dad was getting some insight.  Must have liked the vibe with Day and Hartline.

What an impact having so many players on NFL rosters gives to our recruiting efforts! In ways that we as fans cannot always appreciate!

Fun trivia: Gee Scott Jr's dad visits the coffee shop where my wife works all the time. I like to live in the delusion that my wife is helping build the PNW to tOSU pipeline.
