It's gonna be great either way for OSU fans.
Its a Mirage...
So we can consider it done then.
From everything I've heard and seen, Rivera is coaching on borrowed time. Would love this to happen.
It would sure be funny in the short term to watch their fan base implode; however, that means it will give TTUN the opportunity to got out and hire a championship caliber coach----someone like Matt Campbell...........who might have an axe to grind with OSU.
If it happens this year they can't get Matt Campbell, so they'd 100% panic and have no idea where to turn. Would be highly entertaining.
Kind of ironic. When Hairball was first announced as TSUN's HC, I was a little concerned and hoped the NFL would come calling. But now I really enjoy seeing us beat the crap out of his team every year. So I really hope he stays there for a long, long time.
My favorite team? Whoever is playing TTUN.
Yeah... The more and more that happens... The more and more I think he actually can't coach... Therefore I don't really want him to leave, however the thought of the meltdown up there is intriguing too. Either way... BEAT TTUN, no matter who is the coach.
The little devil on my shoulder thinks it would be hilarious if Harbaugh bolted Ann Arbor for the Carolina Panthers about 18 minutes after promising his #8 (over)rated 2019 recruiting class that he was there to stay!
The little angel on my other shoulder says that would be unfair to innocent 18 year old kids.
But then the little devil on my shoulder gets in the last word, "by choosing to go to Michigan, those 'innocent' kids deserve everything they get!"
But those 18 year olds chose to go to TTUN. They're not innocent./s
That's a Buckeye touchdown!
Especially if we can nab a couple of them and un-brainwash them
Harbaugh's not going anywhere. The NFL doesn't want him. He wore out his welcome in San Fran and since that time he hasn't won a damned thing. He can't beat the rival. He's insane. He can't win the division. He will never coach in the NFL again.

I agree with all points, but let's not underestimate the delusion and ignorance of some of these multi million or billion dollar owners. Most have no business owning a NFL franchise. +1 for your avatar.
Tepper is a very smart cookie. He rarely makes an investment mistake. I recognize that does not necessarily translate over to make hiring decisions in football but do not underestimate how much time he will put into making this decision and how many knowledgeable people he will speak to before making any decision.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Tepper also had a 5% ownership stake in the Steelers starting in 2009 before buying the Panthers and I guarantee he spent considerable time absorbing all he could from the Rooneys and that organization.
that didn't seem to help Truck Stop Jimmy tho

Agreed but I have a strong feeling that Tepper knew he had much to learn but Haslem already thought he knew everything and only had the investment for his ego and to network in. Tepper was also certainly using it to network towards a full ownership but I cite his track record at Appaloosa as to how he really analyses and studies before taking action.
Loathes and Laughs at
I get that it seems he wore out his welcome and it's now 4 years later. But in 4 years with San Fran, he went to a Super Bowl and two Conference Championships (three if you count the one that got him to the Super Bowl). That's pretty impressive. Add-in the fact that he had this success with Kaep (a QB with similar, albeit inferior, talents to Cam) and it would make sense if the Panthers are interested -- or any other team, for that matter.
He's a weird dude. But so is Chucky. And he just got paid about a trillion dollars by the Raiders after being out of the game for, what, a decade?
Chucky won a Super Bowl and didn't go somewhere and squander all his credibility though.
didn't go somewhere and squander all his credibility though.
That's debatable...he does have ESPN on his resume...
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
To his defense, he was a good commentator on MNF.
He is exponentially better than Witten....
Dead air is better than Witten. Literally.
Yeah he seems to be trying very hard to do exactly that
He did. With a better team than Harbaugh had, IMO. Other than that, their NFL accomplishments for a 4-year stretch or so were pretty similar. And Gruden’s performance was so-so the next several years.
Just crazy to me that one guy has been the forbidden fruit every NFL fan has wanted for years. And we assume Harbaugh has no NFL coaching talent, despite every piece of objective evidence suggesting otherwise.
I have no love for UM or Harbaugh. But his record is what it is — and, TBH, I don’t think NFL teams care if he could beat OSU. And I’d be surprised if he didn’t garner some NFL interest.
Enjoying daily the back to back ttun beatdowns.
Did Harbaugh originally recruit Christian McCaffrey? And isn't or wasn't a McCaffrey at UM (and at Duke)...? Not that I think that has any indication on him bolting for Carolina, none the less... Still interesting.
Harbaugh recruited Christian McCaffrey's brother Dylan. He is a QB on the roster at UM.
Because I couldn't go for three
I remember Dylan being a top QB in his class . What's going on with him anyone now ??
" we play to win the game "
He's currently being developed in the Harbaugh quarterback dojo... so that he'll be ready to be replaced by the next incoming transfer.
Correction... He will be ready to be the next exiting transfer. Lol.
Something is probably going to have to give between him, Peters, and Milton.
Even 2 of those 3 could transfer out over time.
Dylan broke his collarbone against PSU. Was the clear number 2 behind Shea Patterson. Shea just announced today he is coming back to Michigan next year. I expect someone, probably Peters, to transfer out from Michigan this year.
You never lose to those pricks. Ever. Ever. Urban Frank Meyer
Noooo! We need Harbaugh at Michigan. Forever.
Exactly my thoughts!!!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
Carolina would be dumb to dump Rivera for Harbaugh. Cant see Cam Newton getting along with Crazy Jimmy
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
It might be time to move on from cam anyway. If his shoulder is going then he’s worthless to them as he already can’t stay healthy as it is when he runs.
Norv has his accuracy up this season but they’re still not winning.
NOOOOO!!!! We want him with TTUN forever!
Fields of Dreams
Fortunately Harbaugh loves Michigan and isn’t going anywhere. The guy seems to fit well in the NFL, but not so much in college. I prefer that he keeps pounding that square peg!
How many more losses to OSU do they put up before they can Harbaugh? Getting paid $7.5M, most in the B1G, to lose to the rival every year is not getting value.
Sounds borderline masochistic. The pain of losing to the Buckeyes once every year isn't enough, so he would go lose to the NFL version of the Buckeyes twice each year? Makes sense.
He has to realize he's lost his own locker room. Time for a change of scenery.

Careful what you wish for...
I don't think he's going anywhere, but if he does, all 27 players would be released from their LOIs.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
Is this officially a rule now? So is that why Gene Smith announced Ryan Day before the December signing day?
Yes. If you go back to the announcement about the timing, it's there.
But how horrible would this be for the kids they just signed and will sign in February? I guess that's what you get for becoming a Michigan man...
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
John Cooper in retro glasses. I hope he never leaves Michigan.
To date, Jim Harbaugh has never won the conference in which he coached and has failed to win the biggest game of his career, ever. Michigan fans roll out 10 wins like its a big deal, and to them it is. OSU will always have grander aspirations and accomplishments, leaving them with hissy fits about OSU cheating and Michigan having superior academics.
I'm glad OSU treats it like a rivalry. Because right now, it isnt one.
Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.
Not that I believe Harbaugh will leave. Being that he seems to have Pat Fitz type immunity with the program.
But there's certainly a bunch of writing on the wall that things are not at all "OK" up in Ann Arbor with all these players transferring, sitting out the bowl game, recruits passing on them (Dax passed, and then came back when he realized Saban lied to him).
"...and when we win the game, we'll buy a keg of booze. And we'll drink to old Ohio till we wobble in our shoes."
I wouldn't go as far as to say he has Pat Fitzgerald type immunity there. My Dad's best friend played for TTUN ( I know I know...but on a good note we get to give him hell every time we see him) and he played for Bo, I emailed him after the ass whipping and he responded and I quote " "Jim is starting to lose a lot of people on his wagon and needs to get a big win under his belt or he could be looking at getting one elsewhere, Michigan man or not, we want to get back to where we are competing on a national level and at a minimum beat you guys"...now if he was just a former player espousing hard feelings about the loss it would be one thing but this guy is someone who is in the inner circle and is consulted with when it comes to their program and coaching hires.
"it matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.
They must not have watched the All or Nothing Amazon series on Amazon that they did about 2017 Michigan. Losses aside, that was the most bizarre coaching I have seen in any level of any sport. The crazy thing is, what made it to the series is the shit that Michigan WANTED people to see, because they had final cut of the footage per their deal. I was sitting there in disbelief as Harbaugh rattled off his supposed "pump up speech" about his son pooping his pants as the players sat there with bewildered looks on their faces like they were asked to take a test written in Klingon. So strange.
Lovie Smith has as many super bowl appearances as Harbaugh. Look how good that worked out for Illinois.
Illinois was going to be a tough lift for anybody, honestly. Pulling a bottom feeding team up requires a fair bit of luck. Hell, becoming bowl eligible would be epic for them. But they would need to overachieve to do that and to start pulling in players with the talent to do anything near that.
You have to wonder whether some of these rumors (that the Packers want him, Panthers want him, etc.) aren't drummed up by Harbaugh's agent himself to make the guy seem desirable. He's a decent coach, but it seemed like SF got worn out on his weirdo personality by the end, and he's continually shown he can't win the big one at either the college or NFL level.
Then again, the NFL is filled with retreads worse than Harbaugh, so maybe there is something to it.
I actually think this is negative recruiting from other coaches. Similar to what Urban and LJ face(d) every year. Harbaugh has basically alluded to as much, and I know he is crazy, but I tend to believe him after our experiences with that.
Can’t wait to see how this plays out
See you in Indy !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
Seattle Sounders 2019 MLS Champions
How could it make a difference - between one who has actually WON a Super Bowl... and one who hasn't really won anything/
1. Harbaugh becomes coach of Panthers.
2. Best player gets immediately cut.
High and tight boo boo
Brilliant - Nice work GT
Troy Smith never had a chance in San Fran. He was a decent backup for Mike Singletary. Harbaugh gets the job and he's on the street. He never had a good OC in the NFL.
Harbaugh isn’t leaving Michigan
2x account suspension survivor
Agree with this take. For Harbaugh, it is a God-send. He gets paid one of the highest salaries in CFB even though he has achieved only mediocre results. And this will not change. TTUN literally has no plan B. There is no where left to go. In their view, they have to ride the Harbaugh train, or rather donkey cart, to the end, even if it rolls over cliff's edge …
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
ESPN read a statement yesterday concerning Harbaugh saying that he has been sought out by an NFL team to coach there next year. They did not mention the name of the team. Anyway, he issued a very strong statement to the press stating that he has no desire to go to the NFL at all. He did not give the standard BS of waiting until the season was over. Or, one that stated that maybe someday, etc. He flat out said he was definitely not interested in the NFL..
But is he 110% not interested?
With an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
Was he 110% committed to staying put?
Same type of comment made when a coach is on the chopping block, but the team owner says they are 100% behind him and two weeks later- He gone!!!
Times and what people say and do change hourly....and you can't believe anything ESPN puts out there,
*Insert new ownership/front office* is interested in Jim Harbaugh.
"Anything easy ain't worth a damn"
What is the infatuation with this guy??? He must have one hell of an agent.
He'd better take John.
If he wants the smart Harbaugh.
Success - it's what you do with what you've got. - Woody Hayes
Hope JimRod stays. Next year is no win for him. Their rval comes to the outhouse, a first year head coach, probable new starter at QB, and a lower rated (not less talented) recruiting class. Should the skunk weasels win, its about time, even a blind dog finds a bone, if they stay the course and lose, in the words of the immmortal Hawk Harrelson, "he gone".
If you can't be a Buckeye, it's good to know one
Continue to be amazed how it's the head coaches fault when your QB looks like he's playing with 1 arm most of the season. Cam can't throw the ball and hasn't been able to most of the season. They finally shut him down for the year... his stats are so inflated because he's just dumping it off to McCaffery and Olsen every down on quick short throws. No velocity to throw downfield or to the sidelines.... total mess..
Harbaugh isn't going anywhere. You are obviously 100% correct that he has never beat OSU (and thus never won the Division outright, or the Big 10, let alone go to the playoffs.) Michigan had fallen so far under RichRod and Hoke that it was going to be hard just to be respectable. He has gotten to that point, but OSU has been so good, it is very hard to get to that level. Not making excuses. Just the reality.
Curious.... are you in the ride or die camp with Harbaugh? or the seat is a tiny tiny tiny bit warm camp? and if he goes like 6-6 next year and loses to Ohio State it starts getting MUCH warmer?
The thing that would help him would be just to answer the question every time he's asked.. he tends to dodge and dodge and dodge and then when it's clear it's a problem ( coaches were telling recruits he was leaving) he has to make a blanket I'm not leaving statement...
I'm 100% behind Harbaugh. I think he's doing a fine job. OSU has had an elite team, and it is very difficult to catch up. Again, not making excuses, that's just the reality. Look no further than the SEC . . . it is very difficult for the rest of the conference to catch up to Bama. Same thing.
it is very difficult for the rest of the conference to catch up to Bama
it’s also very hard for Bama to catch up to Zeke
Turned out catching Zeke was impossible!
Blu.fan... I like you a lot man... You bring some rationalization to the conversation. But I wouldn't be so confident that he is going nowhere... Not all rumors have validity, but I do have a source, well I wouldn't even call him a source... He is one of my best friends who is actually a GA at a D1 program who's had numerous interactions with people within the UM community... In particular one recent transfer who's come into his program. The NFL talk around Harbaugh is REAL. And it may come to fruition faster than you think.
Is he not going anywhere because he legit wants to win there, or because there’s no one to replace him with, even if they wanted to, or both?
I think Rich Rod would've turned it around given time and the some of what was given Jimmy. From the outside looking in, I don't think the program was as bad as most Harbaugh apologist say it was. He had a lot of talent on the roster when he took over and a blank checkbook. We seen Franklin get a championship with less to work with and look at Purdue (a win against us)if you want to see what turning around a program is really about. Until he gets a GOOD OC then nothing will change.
Do they have a go-fund-me page we could contribute to? The implosion factor in Ann Arbor alone would be worth a weeks' pay.
Just had a conversation with my old college roommate and really close friend. He has ties to a recent transferee and can tell you without a doubt that the NFL fire is blazing for Harbaugh and that it is from within the walls of Schembechler Hall. This is directly from someone who was a player in Ann Arbor this year.
Whether he plans on going or not he should take the phone call - anyone should in that position. I'm sure Urban got serious questions occasionally, or at least his agent did. But he always felt like more of a "college guy" and was likely never to make that jump. Harbaugh's quirkiness seems more suited/acceptable to a pro team, but as pointed out numerous times here - it's easy to wear out your welcome.
