To a BOOM filled day.
Going to be very hard to focus at work. Go Bucks!
The biggest reason I want Harrison is so that Michigan can't have him. Even better that they thought they had him at one point. Hopefully he chooses the Buckeyes. He's been very private about the whole thing though so anything is possible.
I'm still not sold on Fields. It would be fun to watch michigan fans freak out about it though.
MichiBuck, I have been to see Georgia in person this year and I wasn't sold on Fields either, but I read this quote from Birm yesterday on Lettermen Row: https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/ohio-state-bucke...
The cold-hard truth is that Fields is the best quarterback prospect I’ve ever seen in person, and if he’s interested in the Buckeyes, there is zero doubt they will be interested in him. He’s the type of player that changes a program, period.
I’m going to go ahead and trust Birm, as well as my own eyes when watching his high school highlights. Simply amazing.
I have read all these great things about him, but it makes me wonder why he's not starting over Fromm. Fromm isn't great, and I know Georgias system is more geared towards a game manager like Fromm, but if you have a Justin Fields, and he's as good as everyone says, why isn't he playing?
Fromm is like JT. Solid, not spectacular. Plus he was the starter. In retrospect you could written the same thing about Haskins 12 months ago.
I get it now. Consider me sold.
Because he was a true freshman and the guy you had just led you to the national title game. Unless there's a drastic, drastic difference and a problem with Fromm, it's hard to put him on the bench. And like you said, Georgia's offense lends itself to a game manager and doesn't really really need a playmaker at quarterback to function (it's basically Bama's offense three years ago). So there was never really a need to make the change.
Fields was talented enough that Georgia felt the need to give him early playing time and try (albeit pretty unsuccessfully) to get him on the field even with Fromm on the roster and performing well. It's just tricky when there are two quarterbacks like that.
It’s interesting that Dabo pulled Kelly Bryant, who’d led Clemson into the CFP and was so highly regarded that the committee was willing to overlook Clemson’s loss to Syracuse because he was injured, for true freshman Trevor Lawrence. If Smart was ever going to replace Fromm, it would’ve been after UGA’s 36-16 loss to LSU when he was 16/34 and threw two picks. Fields didn’t throw a pass and ran once for three yards. In their next game against Florida, which followed a bye week, which would’ve been the best time to work him into the offense, he didn’t play a single snap.
I’m torn on this issue. I respect and appreciate loyalty and want Martell and Baldwin to be rewarded but at the same time, having watched Fields’ highlights, who wouldn’t want a player with his special gifts? I just hope we’re not being played and lose Mathis in the process.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
I totally agree with you on this point. Also Fields reminds me of Kyler Murray a little. Here’s to Harrison and Fields. Go Bucks!!!!
A day of impending booms is upon us.
Until the ink is dry on ZH’s NLOI I’ll remain cautiously optimistic
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Same here. All of the cbs are working from the exact same information they had when he was trending to ttun so unlike other times when they had something that changed to work with other recruits to change their predictions these are really pure guesses.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Same. Balls are for cupping, not predicating hopes and dreams upon.
Thats a Texas sized 10-4 Squirely Dan.
Ohio State should always be looking to improve their roster. But here is the thing. If he is so good, why is he not starting over another very young player? If you have seen Georgia play, he isn't exactly Dwayne Haskins like out there.
QB is the one position where a very talented player could be sitting in favor of another player who fits a particular situation better simply because you only need one on the field at a time.
i admit I don’t know much about Fields, but just like most of us I’d welcome him to come and compete for a spot.
I'm curious about this too. I'm not opposed to bringing in Fields, but I'm not totally sold on the idea either. All the talking heads are swooning over this kid, but if he's so good, why is he sitting behind Fromm who we know to be good but not great.
I remember watching first team All Big Ten QB Todd Boekman move aside because the Senator thought our offense was better with Pryor in there despite him not being very developed. If the Senator will do it, anybody can do it.
Time for a nice big BOOMing onion.
Outback is giving one away in Michigan today for every 3-star recruit that they sign.
With the purchase of a Coke product?
With the purchase of a glass of milk.
With the purchase of a glass of whole milk.
Deep fried onions with milk. We’ll know Xichigan fans from the stench emanating from their asses today. Moreso than usual, anyway.
So today, when they talk out of their asses, it will be EXTRA stinky.

Under no circumstances should you follow my Twitter account.
Under no circumstances will I "follow" anyone by Twitter or other social media platform. But I will check in with your updates on signing day. Nice word of the day. I had to look it up. Similar to obfuscating, which is an internet tactic of debate when you go into debate topics, politics and religion.
Welcome to each of the young men that sign on today. Work hard and great success will come. Everything is possible at The Ohio State University!!!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
The Justin Fields news is fucking rad! The idea that people don't want him is absurd. Every wide receiver on our roster is salivating right now, and so is anyone else on the offense with the exception of Tate Martell. Fields coming in would open up the quarterback job in two years as opposed to three years of Martell starting, so the younger quarterbacks should be over the moon about it. Matthew Baldwin is not taking the reins as a redshirt freshman, so if he wants to start someday, he should be praying for Fields.
You can bet your ass that everyone else on the roster is thinking National Championship and repeat if we get the kid, and so are the coaches. I am sure Ryan Day has already made overtures to him. We don't cry for any other position when we accept transfers, why quarterback?
Besides, now we can run fake punts.
Is there anything more disrespectful than signing day flips on camera? Wasting the time and money of a program, not to mention the coaches with families just to publicly humiliate them for your own enjoyment on TV/Twitter? You’d have to hold me back if I was the coach. Flips are inevitable and I would never hold that against a player but grow the f up and do it ahead of time when you have made your choice and not like some f’ing game show
I agree, and with that outcome maybe he made the right choice for the Buckeyes. Later dude!
You have to love the opposing coach dropping a "we" in the postgame press conference.
That’s how we do it in the Yo.!

Been reported elsewhere that Zach Harrison told his coaches and fellow hs team yesterday he is going to tOSU! Was the embarrassment of THE GAME that swayed him, even though Mattison went begging on his knees to his HS on Fri.
Clearly Jim D has heard Buckeye Nation roar!!!
its about time Jim, what took you so long?
i won’t be 100% until Zach signs... I’m still not convinced he’s coming, but I sure hope so.
I'm still holding out hope on Battle & Nester
Life long fan of... The!
first of all...elves are real. i've seen them everywhere. secondly, this last minute fields situation is a very tricky deal for day. tread with caution. unintended consequences could present a minefield.
1. Jim Tressel was the master of circumlocution.
2. Wonder why there haven't been more assistant coach moves announced throughout college football? The next three days are the answer. Expect a flurry in about a week and after NFL Black Monday. Then the hurt feelings will begin.
3. Any school that doesn't have a QB controversy is one hit away from disaster. Keeping two good, eligible QBs is becoming increasingly hard to do. Bama is very lucky Hurts didn't pull a Kelly Bryant.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
Football coaching is a small and tight fraternity. Everyone knows everyone. There’re no more than three degrees of separation—if you don’t know someone, odds are good you know someone who does. The college coaches convention is in San Antonio the week after the NCG. Coaches know how to network like no other industry except maybe politics. Most will bring their wives and they network also, talking to each other, unearthing gossip and rumors, working behind the scenes promoting their husband’s careers.
I've been compulsively punning since I was a child. Turns out I just have a lesion on my brain.
And the Buckeyes had exactly zero QBs this year with starting experience. Same thing when they went into the 2014 season. And that is the case for many teams when they lose a starter to graduation or the NFL. Not unusual that backups have not had to start for their teams until the current starter is gone for good.
I wonder how many of these kids use an eFax vs traditional wireline fax? Surprised the NCAA doesn't go for eSignature, but that doesn't come with a visual.
Ahh yes, those eSignature gals at Bama are going to be gorgeous.
Why shouldn't elves be real in Iceland? It is kind of a fun story, regardless of the level of truth.
I really have no interest in Wimbush whatsoever, and not much in Hurts. Yes Jalen saved Bama's bacon in one game, but man was he himself generally pedestrian leading up to that point which is why he was sitting behind Tua. Ditto Wimbush, whose offense was inept before losing out to Book. I can see why the Bucks would look, but trust the guys already here and do your thing.
Between all the guys leaving ttun, and now Harrison likely being a Buckeye, things must be going swimmingly up in the mitten state. Ha.

For some recruits, this day might be the only time in their lives that they use a fax machine.
ONE Not Done!
I remember when faxes were high tech.
I don't give a damn for the whole state of Xichigan.
Just in case anyone was curious, here's actual footage of the transfer portal in action:
This is hilarious. I also laughed when I heard they caled it a transfer portal.

Really wish the Fields news would have broken after Mathis signed. Now he is wavering and we are not guaranteed to get either of them.

apologies for not keeping up with the news, has it been confirmed that Haskins is definitely leaving?
Getting Fields and Harrison would be epic and takes this class to another level!!!
cant see hurts or winbush coming here as backups. if they came here and started, tate would leave. if tate is not ready after 2 years of learning the system, it would be time to move on anyway.
Noooo not Wimbush

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I've been to Iceland 4 times. Most of the large rocks that they divert the roads around were described by the locals to be trolls, not elves. But I wouldn't want to mess with either of them.
