Bucks have to play a lot more consistently to beat UCLA.
But they finally got their turnovers under 10.
Keep getting better, Buckeyes.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
UCLA is pretty mediocre this year. As long as they don’t have their worst half of basketball this year as they did tonight, they will be fine.
UCLA is pretty mediocre this year.
Right, they are just 7-3, but their losses have come vs #7 N Carolina, #11 Mich State, and high-scoring (90+ ppg), 9-1 Belmont (by 2). The Bruins have a height advantage and rebound better than the Buckeyes.
Also, have you noticed that several teams have shot treys well against OSU? This season, UCLA is shooting 34.8% beyond the arc. Any inconsistency on defense against them may come back to bite the Buckeyes.
Let's see how UCLA does @Cincinnati tomorrow night.
Their best loss is to a Notre Dame team that won't even make the tourney this year, by three points. Got blown out by both the ranked teams you listed above. North Carolina they lost by 16 and MSU they lost by 20. My point still stands. They are mediocre and as long as the Bucks play their B game they should win.
Sorry meant best win was a three point victory against Notre Dame.
The last few games I think is more of what we thought we would see this year - young players developing but making mistakes, outside shooting would struggle, and challenges taking care of the ball. Would not be surprised going forward to see them have whole games like last night's first half but that is ok. They are certainly going to do better than pre-season forecasts. We just have to recognize that there will likely be some stinkers, especially on the road. Wesson did ok in the first half but became monster after getting that third foul.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
i'm no accurate judge of what's a foul these days, esp between big men in the paint.
however - looked to me that our striped zebs 'got on a roll' midway thru the 2h, calling 4-5 straight fouls on the 2 men trying to guard Kaleb....
Ugly first half....but they pulled it out. and BINGO
You missed one! We only had 8 turnovers tonight, finally!

Is this a subtle dig at Andre Wesson and his teeth?
He’s one of the best follows on Twitter.
Very sloppy first half. Wesson has GOT to be smarter about his fouls.
But still, won’t complain too much after a win.
Kaleb dropping 30....maybe found our "go to" scorer that people have been clammoring for.
Another positive in a couple of somewhat lackluster non-conference wins: CJ Jackson has 13 assists and 2 turnovers in the last two games.
I play, coach stays. He goes, I go.
Kaleb Wesson is a monster. Reminded me of Terrence Dials! Wow!

Good thing we're a basketball school...
That was clearly a case of sleepwalking through a first half in a game you know you will win handily. The second half was much more like what I would have expected for the entire 40. But I suspect that they will be fully prepared when they see UCLA on the opponents jersey instead of Youngstown State. Great to see Kaleb log big minutes after getting that 3rd (ticky-tack though it was) foul and just dominate the paint. I also liked that mini 8-0 Luther run once Wesson went to the bench. I'm glad this was the game our open shots decided not to fall, we won't miss nearly as many good looks like we did in the first half in any other game this season.

Poor guy looks like an Alabama fan now
Very glad we not only have a quality coach who knows the game well but is very composed and can keep the team focused even after a nightmare of a first half. Can't help but believed his composure helped the team to not panic and to hang in there for positive outcome.

I’m so proud that he’s our coach. Well said, sir. Well said.
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
You just gotta love how these young Buckeyes continue competing and improving. Had you told me prior to the season we'd be 10-1 in mid-December I'm not sure I would have agreed with so many new faces being asked to contribute.
Hats off to these young men and the coaching staff. Keep up the great work! Go Bucks!
Got to go to the game tonight. Is what it is at this point but what a dead crowd. So disappointing to see the players waiving their arms to get people to stand up and cheer and then basically nothing. Just a sit and golf clap crowd..
14-2 start was just AWFUL. Youngstown St played such a SLOW pace that it made it easy to come back.
Not sure how much they showed it on TV but curious to see how the injuries work out moving forward. Young took that awful fall and just didn't look himself and didn't play much... and at one point in the second half Kaleb Wesson and the trainer headed back to the locker room.. something to keep an eye on...
Kaleb got hit in the mouth and needed a stitch... I'm more worried about why he was pulling his fingers... that was not explained, he did it several times.
OK, I've seen eleven games and I think the majority of shots should come from Muhammed, Woods and Caleb Wesson. Matchups and hot hands will cause Washington and Jackson to have their days but the aforementioned threesome will have to drag this team into NCAA contention if it's going to get there at all. It appears the Big 10 will provide few road wins so we need to win the close ones at home. Sure like the improvement I'm seeing from Young so far, too. It's safe to say that Coach Holtman is doing a great job so far.

I am so impressed by the defense of our team plays as a whole. I hope Young is alright and ready to go against UCLA! With the type of mentality that Holtmann has instilled our boys will be a difficult foe on a neutral site, when combined with Holtmann's ability to change tactics while keeping the same strategy - our teams are going to be much harder to knock off stride than most!
