Well done NHB
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
"Defiance in Silence"
I knew if I just hung around on the home page it would be better than that long-winded press conference (no disrespect for the kid, but what were the organizers thinking?)
Varys: I've always hated the bells. They ring for horror, a dead king, a city under siege.
Tyrion: A wedding.
in their defense, it was supposed to be a presentation for multiple kids who were signing with colleges. we only watched for one. :)
The world is yours
Kid is good. Saw him play a couple of times and he is the real deal. Stoked.
The more you act like a lady the more likely he’ll act like a gentleman.
Saw him this past weekend playing and winning state against Vance. Great game and he is indeed a good one.
Hey Cancer! This ass kicking is brought to you by the Guernsey county mafia. Give it Hell 84!
That's a Buckeye touchdown!
Man, very happy to get this kid, ESPECIALLY after that farce of a presser. I know that has nothing to do with him and is in no way his fault, but the coaching staff at that school should really be ashamed, they took a lot of what should've been a special day away from those kids.
Regardless, welcome to the team Jaden!
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
What farce? Summary for those of us who didn't watch the presser?
Well they had 3 kids up there that were committing, or had committed to schools.
The AD spoke first, and wasn't super long winded, but the head coach came up next and gave a speech about the program turning out quality players, and how these three are examples, then he talked about the individual players, he said nice stuff, don't get me wrong, but everything tied back into the player's history with the team and how they were a part of the team.
For each kid their positional coach or some coach they had a "special relationship with" during their time there came up and said some things, like one coach talked about how raw one of the players was and how the coaching staff was part of molding him into the player he became and stuff.
In the end it just came off as the coaching staff posting a sales pitch about their school and program, ultimately the players themselves did very little talking, in terms of minutes spent talking coaches to players it was easily 10 to 1. It was a joke.
That sounds pompous as hell! Thanks for the overview. "I know it is about the kids, but allow us to blow smoke up our own asses for 40 minutes first"
It's funny how quickly a weakness on the roster can transform into a strength.

Watch this kid's highlights. At :40, he strips the QB and then absolutely levels an OL going after the teammate who'd recovered it. That's all I needed to see. I said "I'm sold" and stopped the tape.

This kid was playing on the Varsity...a perennial State Championship team that went 57 - 1...as a 14 year old freshman.
A couple of years from now we may talking about McKenzie as much as Harrison.

Welcome, Jaden McKenzie!
Looks like he has a great first step and an endless motor I like it
From what I can tell he appears to have skillset similar to Landers but with higher upside. I'll definitely take that.
Welcome aboard Jaden!
16-2 is SWEET!
Boom! We got the Mac. I like his attitude on the field and I know his technique and physique will grow tremendously.
Urban said there would be surprises today and he did not disappoint.

Looks like he's got some heavy hands.
Welcome to the family, Jaden!
Even with two last minute decommits, I’d say it’s been a very good Day.
Crazy Jim is prolly losing it right about now
He knew good and well after he came down 23 a week or so ago he wouldn't get Zach, plus he was ridiculed out of a Kroger... Unfortunately they did have a good day as well.

Time will tell how they pan out. Their coaching staff not only is in question but they are also questioning themselves.
Keep the O and D line pipeline filled with high quality young men anxious to be the heart and soul of the Buckeyes. We have no shot without them. Welcome to the Dojo!
That dude is huge. Stars really don’t mean a lot to me it’s all about a kid and an opportunity. Same take that opportunity and go with it while others flap in the wind. I trust Larry Johnson.
Great get. We want people who want us.
When i watched this kids tape i thought the same thing i thought when i seen Curtis Samuel and Olaves tape... What are these evaluators watching???
The only thing I could see that might have prevented this guy from being rated higher is speed. But after a year under the tutelage of LJ and body transformation in the Mick Marotti Monster Factory, this kid should be a good one. Great get from the heart of Clemson country.

I love how bright the future looks for our D-line (which will get even better if Bryan Bresee commits for the 2020 class). I am still a little concerned about the safety position though with Battle flipping and Lejond Cavazos exploring other options atm. That's a position we're already thin at to begin with (barring a Jordan Fuller return next year and assuming depth guys like Pryor, Wint, Riep, Proctor, and Hooker don't improve). I hope Day and Grinch have a contingency plan at safety with Battle flipping.
Zack Harrison is fast enough to play safety. I'd think that prospect would scare the hell out of receivers. IIRC, Sam Hubbard started out at safety. I jest, but it might do in a pinch.
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
With all respect, the thought of Proctor and Hooker, as true freshmen, not improving is an assumption I won't make. We will be fine.
Well tbf we've watched Arnette and Sheffield not improve for two years now. It's a complete possibility for any player. If Marcus Hooker turns out to be anything close to the player his brother was I'll be thrilled.
There isn’t a contingency plan for players like that. You find a position filler but not a replacement.
I am impressed with how aggressively Grinch went after Bryson Shaw, the level of interest says in my opinion that coach Grinch saw something similar to a prospect that ended up doing terrifically for him. I believe in these type of recruits as that is a talent I felt we lost with Fickell!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
I just hope Grinch does a better job at player evaluation in year 2 at safety. The position was a hot mess for most of the year because he thought Pryor and Wint were the best safeties on the team outside of Fuller for too long and stubbornly dug his heels in on that belief until Brendan White finally emerged. Not to mention Fuller regressed significantly this season under Grinch. Say what you want about Schiano but he was very good at getting the most out of the safety position when he was responsible for it (guys like Hooker, Webb, and 2017 Fuller are proof of that). So far Grinch hasn't shown that (though I do think he's a solid recruiter). He's going to need to do a much better job in year 2 no question. All of the defensive coaches are getting lapped by LJ around the tracks atm in terms of where they are at with developing their players.
Yes coach Coombs and LJ made me believe we could do whatever we wanted and it would work out - then Coombs left and we are in a very different spot!

BOOM! Jaden McKenzie will be developed to the max by Coach Johnson. Go Bucks!
BOOM. Welcome to the Buckeye family, Jaden.
This young man is a brawler, I love the balance!
This is a nice pickup, I see zero reason for the staff to throw shade at him in his commitment article. Big frame with room for muscle, and all the local powers were after him as well-Clemson, Tennessee, UNC, South Carolina. Welcome to family Jaden!!!!!
