Kurelics input for Wednesday's Early Signing Day:
13 of 16 commits sign with the Bucks on the first day of the three day period:
- Nester taking OVs to PSU, VT and GA
- Chambers 100% committed but having a team signing ceremony in February
- Expects Battle to sign with Bama
Harrison will announce and sign between 8 and 9 am ET. Down to Bucks and Kitty's.
Jaden McKenzie to sign with the Bucks over NC
Nick Broeker sticks with Ole Miss
Those who say they can and those who say they can't are both right. Which one are you?
Must be late on the Harrison news. Since when is it down to tosu and penn st.?
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
Surprised (and pleased) to hear this. Love to see Harbaugh continue to take Ls. Would hate to see him at PSU though.

Take Your Pick
Not so sure this class is going to end up the #2 class in the country like last year but our average rating per player is pretty high and if take 9 more players that could shoot us up into the top 5 possiblity.
" we play to win the game "
I don't know what the scholarship numbers will be, but it would be nice to have OSU sign a smaller class than we are accustomed to (between 15-18) and keep a lot of those draft eligible players for one more year. Under Urban it was a lot of classes with a lot of players, and most draft eligible players declaring. I think it started to catch up with the program and leadership was lacked in a bunch of key positions over the years because we were losing 3rd year players and replacing them with 2nd year players that had little to no game experience.
This is a very important point. Add in, to the player turnover at key skill positions, the turnover in the coaching staff, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and you have a situation that lacks stability and is prone to problems, just as the defense experienced this year. Simultaneously, too many new things.
Need to settle things down, especially with a new HC. Make a couple tough decisions, especially with the defensive coaching staff, then work toward some stability on the staff for the next 2-3 years, minimum. Not sure exactly how this would be done, but also might want to encourage draft eligible players who are likely lower round picks to strongly consider further developing their skills with another year in college.
"Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it." - Woody Hayes
Exactly...though there are a couple decisions regarding the defensive staff that I wouldn't consider too tough.
Often, the really tough thing to do is to take definitive action with regards to something that needs to be done, but, for whatever reason, there is hesitation or reluctance to take that action, even when it is pretty obvious that it needs to be done. Taking strong action, too often, is the tough part.
Clemson has done pretty well with this formula.
the 2020 class is where we will see how the new team is on the trail. We need a top 5 class in 2020.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
Harrison and McKenzie on Wednesday would be fantastic. Interesting that he thinks Michigan is out. I just can’t see Harrison picking psu over Larry Johnson.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Kind of reminds me of Jayson Oweh in a way. Hopefully ZH stays in Columbus but it is interesting PSU is coming on so late with everyone. That tells me he would be comfortable with his choice. Penn State knows how to play the negative recruiting game so it wouldn't be surprising to hear Franklin say things like "Ohio State won't be the same without Urban" "Larry Johnson won't be your coach your entire collegiate career" "We need you to be elite" "We could be 3-0 against them right now" etc.
"I've had smarter people around me all my life, but I haven't run into one yet that can outwork me. And if they can't outwork you, then smarts aren't going to do them much good." - Woody Hayes
I also don’t see how a kid who is so close to his family, and especially his mother, moves 5.5 hrs away.
Michigan I got. That’s a 3 hr drive. Not fun, but doable. 5-6 hours isn’t a day trip.
I wonder what’s really going on with Battle behind the scenes. Hopefully there’s a chance he sticks with us.
Rumor I read, I think it was from Birm, Battle is being recruited at Bama as a Safety but Bama is concerned they could lose Dax Hill if Battle signs with them. They will wait until they have Hill’s NLI before allowing Battle to announce.
That rumor is from here: https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/ohio-state-recru...
So Bama won't let Battle announce until Hill turns in his NLI? That's kind of shaddy
And the kid still wants to go there. Iif a school treated me like I was second choice I would not go there. I have too much pride. Surprised a kid with that much talent would allow bama to treat him like that.
If OSU had pulled that OSU would be labeled as the most corrupt program ever and the media would call for a full NCAA investigation. Another example of the double-standard Little Nicky gets to enjoy.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
swfl: to add to that, why would he want to be stuck behind other 5* kids? He is definitely being slighted with the way Bama is treating him. Not sure why that wouldn’t sway things back to OSU. And maybe there is a slight chance that still happens. Let’s hope Dax Hill signs with Bama on Wednesday and Battle chooses not to sign yet.
Fields of Dreams
I read that if he doesn sign with Bama he is just as likely to sign with the Sooners. Not exactly sure when they came into play as I always believed it was between us and Bama.
A lot of people keep asking why he would want to wait behind 5 stars or be treated that way. My only guess is that Bama has been in every CFP and is a legit contender each year.
Yes. My thought is that he is one of those kids that value a championship over playing time and being made a priority. Because the one thing bama can guarantee him is a championship although he might be riding the pine as they win it.
Anything in the top 8 is a a very good class for this year under the circumstances. Top 5 would be great.
All things considered, we have to be happy with the damage control. Adding Harrison and perhaps another solid DB later on would be reason for celebration.
Day has done a great job salvaging as much as possible. It was kind of a no win situation for him but he's handled it with a calm sense of urgency. Could've been a lot worse.
I agree... I think once Coach Day finalize his staff, recruiting will improve.
Yeah, I imagine it would be worse if they had several months of unknowns. The head coach is set now, about as smooth a transition as you can get.
What ever happened to MJ Devonshire? He doesn’t seem like a bad addition right now since we are hurting for DBs. Last I knew, he wanted to commit but we pumped the brakes on that one at the time.
Last thing I read was that he is not an early signee nor is he an early graduate.
East Coast living with Ohio roots
Anything in the top 15 would be fine with me considering everything that has transpired. At this point I'm more concerned with keeping the guys we already have in the fold. Anything extra would be icing on the cake. I'll worry if 2020 is a dud.
I know everyone has said Harrison isn't a kid that plays the recruiting game, but TTUN being out after weeks of leading seems like the old fashion smoke and mirrors recruits do to keep people from thinking they know where he is going to go. My heart likes the thought that TTUN is out, but my head tells me not to fall for that trick again.
It's been said before that Harrison hates the recruiting process altogether and that most, if not all, of the speculation surrounding him is 100% bullshit.
ZAch Harrison hasn't said anything to anybody. He isn't playing games. Info is based on what people around him are telling people
I believe ZH has good intentions. I also believe unfortunately he is gonna go up North (hoping i am wrong). It is interesting though, that the recruits who don't like the recruiting game or stay quiet end up causing more stir and put themselves more in spotlight coming down to the wire and/or throughout the process. If you dont want recruiting drama you can skip the ceremony etc but why not just come out with it.
If ZH leaves, my guess the kid just wants to get out of town for College which i totally get. Just stinks that it may be for our rival. I have no doubt that with LJ, Day and Mickey M we would develop ZH into the best NFL prospect obviously
Looking at the various Michigan boards there doesn’t seem to be much optimism about Harrison going to Michigan.
Any particular website we should be observing for their reactions? I love to watch the world burn.
Yeah and they could very easily be coming over here on Wednesday to see the meltdown if Harrison doesnt commit here.
Penn State just picked up a commitment from 4 star DE Adisa Isaac, maybe this helps with Harrison some.
I doubt it matters too much. Depending on how many DEs they already have in the class. One has to think that a guy of that level is going to start or be competing to start over about anybody.
Just looked him up, he's borderline 5-star. Kid is huge. Fingers crossed this DOES help us with Harrison.
Maybe they were having this kid hold tight until they found out details on Zach. Hopefully Zach told him, he's going to an "Elite" program so they took Isaac.
PSU has three DEs in the class.
Hope this helps.
"Give your dream an aspiration date."
I don't think Harrison wants to be here. He's looking for a reason not to be a Buckeye, he's not coming here guys. Michigan or Penn State. Ohio State not a real candidate for him imo.
From God’s lips to your ears...
Getting down voted for telling the truth now. I dunno guys, I could be wrong. But if you've followed Harrison's recruitment at all be real. How can you be confident he's coming here?
I thought he was 100% coming to osu until I read your post.
Then I was super-sad because you said he wasn’t and you were so sure about it and everything....
If he doesn't become a Buckeye i hope he goes to Clemson just for the amount of panty twist it would cause.
Getting down voted for telling the truth now.
Truth? You're opining, not truth-telling, at least not yet... not that that merits DVs.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
+1 for using the word “opining”
+1 from me. I get the same feeling. I think his head is telling him he should stay home, but he just wants to go away to school. Some guys just want to get away, and his recruitment gives me that vibe.
If he was going to go away for school I wish he would go a little farther away. Like out of the Big Ten. I hear Southern California has nice weather. The same with Miami. Heck Hawaii is really far away? If your not going to come to Ohio State at least don’t go to one of our rivals that we play every year.
Exactly go where the weather and women are nice. I work just outside of Ann Arbor and I can say that neither is that great there.
You do realize that he has never once told anyone where he is going. Everything is just made up bullshit speculation on the "experts" part. NO ONE but maybe ZH and his parents knows where he is going.
It kind of seems that way bucksfan4life, it’s always either Michigan 1 and OSU 2 or PSU 1 and OSU 2 it seems according to the so called experts. No body knows what this kid is thinking as he doesn’t give to many updates. I will say though that it always seems consistent that OSU is number 2 though so maybe he is just playing around a little.
The thing is, he’s not playing. He’s not talking to anyone. So all the scuttlebutt of this place is the leader, that place is the leader is from commits and coaching staffs. OSU probably didn’t feel great after his UM visit and until he came the week before the game. Then they did so it got kind of foggy. Someone at PSU probably told them they felt like they knocked the in home out of the park so now PSU is the trendy choice. And he’s said he doesn’t know if he wants to stay home or not, so people infer on that. I just think everyone is attributing things to him that aren’t coming FROM HIM.
He might not go to OSU and if not, that sucks, but I don’t think any of this is his fault.
Such an odd Early Signing Day this year. In addition to the NSD drama with Harrison, I'm anticipating a fair amount of work to get done between now and February. I don't think there are as many kids committing early, which gives kids who wait some time to take stock of each school's class and new depth charts.
Seems just the opposite to me. Lots of kids committed already. We'll see who signs early. Think it is benefiting the lesser programs because they are getting kids to sign that might have been late flip candidates in the past.
Article over on rivals mentioned they are expecting less kids to sign early this year vs. last year, just because it was the first time last year, and kids want the time to make sure they are making the right choice.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
Last year, I remember sitting in front of my computer and watching all the Clemson Crystal Balls roll in for "He Who Shall Not Be Named" on the morning of signing day. I fully anticipate the same thing to happen Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with Zach Harrison. Word will leak out soon enough of his destination.
ZH to clemson folks! Heard it here first. /s
I tried bum juice once, it was bitterly disappointing.
Too soon BumJuice, too soon.
If Ann Arbor is a whore, what's Harbaugh for going back to her?
So, TTUN was Harrison's crystal ball destination from recruiting God Steve Wiltfong, and the majority of those associated with *ichigan who were 'analyzing' his recruitment thought he was sure thing... up until a week or so ago. Now, PSU is the team for Ohio State to beat? I'm built for recruiting like I'm built for the stock market... not at all. Fickleness is something I despise, and the recruiting and investment worlds are rife with it. Holy cow...
Yeah, you have to embrace a certain amount of flaky behavior and fluky conjecture to truly embrace recruiting.
We'll know by tomorrow what Harrison does, if it's quiet it's because he's going to Penn State.
If he's coming to us it'll get leaked as Penn State likes leaking commitments of kids who tell them no.
Oh nooooooooo, I could nevvvvver imagine the 'alter boy' James Franklin would evvvver do anything like thaaaaaat to a kid!
Pfffffft, hahaha, that dude is biggest 'hypocrite' fake SOB in the coaching business today w/o question.
AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW.............:)
Nice call Calgary!
Do we KNOW something has been leaked by PSU? And if so what was leaked exactly?
Leaks don't often reveal their identity...
With all due respect to Zach, if he goes anywhere but to LJ and OSU -- it will be the most classic example of "over-thinking things" waaaaay too much, lol. Zach, you will be "away at college" -- you will not be 'living @ home' with Mom and Dad -- you will be living on campus with your teammates/friends and in your own little world. But at the same time you will be making your parents lives MUCH easier being able to just have to drive right down the road to watch your games in person!
I trust Zach knows Larry Johnson is the most 'truthful', 'genuine', and best 'mentor/father-figure' you could ever ask for as a position coach -- no need to "over-think" this decision young man -- the simple/correct answer is right in front of you -- TOSU!!
LJ will go down as one of the greatest coaches in OSU history and is only a positional coach. Dude motivates me! Love watching the below video and the way he says, "We are the Buckeyes" at 1:42 or when he says, "We're gonna eat until somebody says stop eating."
Just show this to ZH and he'll commit on the spot lol.
No matter which school he chooses, it’s pretty clear that ZH has overthought this whole thing. Just pick a school, if you don’t like the attention, and be done with it all. It’s a joke - and I don’t mean it’s just him. It’s just a circus of vanity all around, and “we” love it.
OL Jakari Moore commits to South Carolina. He will sign there on Wednesday. Kind of a bummer with the uncertainty around Nester.
Eric Wolford from NE OH is a pretty good OL coach and recruiter.
On phone so can’t embed, but Dwan tweeted the thinking emoji (presumably in relation to the Justin Fields rumors). I’m not worried at all, but it may have some legs.
Givler saying it's possible.
Yes I know this isn't technically recruiting related but it still impacts recruiting and overall numbers.
When I first read about this rumor earlier I didn't give much credence since it was just posters saying it. Now we have insiders saying they're hearing it's potentially a very real possibility.
If this happens it will be due to Day making Dwayne a Hesiman candidate in 1 year. Also helps Dwayne trained all offseason with Justin.
Am I the only one who is not on board. If he comes here Tate and Baldwin transfer. And it looks like dwan isn’t to happy about it either. I’ll take Tate, Baldwin and Dwan over Fields.
I tend to agree. Fields might be a great talent, but part of me just wants those guys to stay and end up being successful at some point in their careers at OSU.
He might be eligible to play immediately and he wouldn't be here longer than 2 years since I don't believe he was a redshirt. If that happens my thinking is only Tate transfers.
Fields will probably have to sit out a year. The NCAA has relaxed that rule recently but I'd be surprised if they allowed such a highly ranked player to transfer at his leisure after just 1 season and not sit (Eason sat this year in the same situation). So Tate and Baldwin would still duke it out next year. Whatever happens the year after happens. If you have a QB room full of studs you won't keep them all. Fields is a better college prospect than anybody connected with OSU right now. You don't turn away a guy with this type of talent. He could start for 2-3 years once he's eligible.
edit: Eason left after 2 years and still had to sit.
Beantown there was a racially charged incident that Justin was the recipient of @ UGA that may make it possible to not have to sit out a year. So it's definitely possible for him to play next year.
Was that the situation with the baseball player from earlier in the fall?
Correct. Not sure the NCAA would want to face the backlash for telling a kid he can't play right away after transferring due to being the recipient of racism.
Yup. It seemed to be an isolated incident, the baseball player was let go from the school, and it happened months ago. Plus, there are idiots everywhere. However, given the attention it received and the NCAA probably not wanting to get into a public skirmish on that topic I could see this happening as well.
Saw on the reddit Fields thread that a basketball player was granted immediate eligilbity after claiming he was being discriminated against for being Iranian.
The world is yours
One has nothing to do with the other. It’s easy. That’s not to say the NCAA won’t fold, but nearly everyone sits, and he should too.
Not everyone. Wohlabaugh didn’t, neither did Antonio Williams or She Patterson.
Everybody hasn't been sitting recently. The NCAA isn't transparent of course, so it's basically impossible to tell what they may allow or not. I assumed he would have to sit but its tough to say what will motivate the NCAA to grant a waiver.
I wouldn't assume that every QB on the team will leave just because we bring in another QB
IDK. I always respect the swflbuckeye1 posts - usually insightful. So I will think on this. But man... Fields was the #1 recruit in the country a year ago.
Additionally...the jury may be out on Day overall, but I think we have a verdict on his ability to select and develop a QB and if he wants Fields and trades the depth chart for him, I'm inclined to believe...
Makes sense now and I didn't put 2 and 2 together before but here's a tweet from Quincy Avery who is a QB coach for Haskins, Fields, and Deshaun Watson.
If you don't feel like clicking he said if he had a kid who was a QB he would want him to 100% play for Coach Day
Can you keep us posted on this Spooner (and anyone else)? I feel like this may have some legs but I don’t have access to insider info.
Would gladly miss on Mathis to get Fields with Ryan Day, Fields is a freak
Exactly.. Justin Fields is not just some guy.. this isn't Shea Patterson we're talking about. Fields is a bonafide stud and would flourish under Day.
Yeah fields rise to a 5 Star was ridiculous. People were hyping him and Trevor Lawrence as the top two qbs they had seen in a while. You easily sacrifice Mathis for him.
side note: I wasn’t enthralled with Mathis tape or highlights. Apparently he camped very well at osu but still wasn’t loving him as the choice qb. Not a lot of good options in this class I know.
TIFIW: Someone on Bucknuts says they have a friend who is close with a Michigan coach and they expect Harrison to pick Ohio State.
I think he picks OSU. Johnson strategically was tweeting out congrats during the Colts and Bengals game as Hubbard and Lewis were having great games. Think that is a direct message to Harrison. Also think his mom wants him at OSU.
I have a friend, who’s cousin is The Godfather of a guy, who’s third uncle knows a guy who’s son played against Harrison. He’s all buckeye
Been saying this for awhile but I will repeat since it’s so close now. The decision for Harrison comes down to this...does he base his decision on football or on a normal college experience? If it’s football, it’s clear to him and everyone else it’s Ohio State. If he wants the normal college experience it’s Michigan or Penn State. I hope he picks us but if he doesn’t, I won’t really care because how good will he actually be if football isn’t his top priority?
A normal college experience? Sure they weren't over the top great this year, but have you seen the whiteout? UM fans are just as passionate as us. All three schools love their football program.
Again you’re talking about football. I’m talking about a normal college athlete. At those two schools, he won’t be thought of as the hometown hero and be constantly interviewed by the hometown media. He would be just one of 85 guys. Also, Ann Arbor and Happy Valley are college towns where it’s easier to “get away”. It’s been widely reported by players and recruits that those football programs are more laid back than OSU. Those are the things I’m referring to
"Widely reported"? Really? Huh...
He’s a top 5 recruit. No matter where he goes he’s going to have the weight of expectations. In all honesty he might blend in more here where there’s more 5 stars than the other 2 who don’t have many.
Some CBs came in for MJ Devonshire, including one from Wiltfong. Anybody able to see who they for or if they are cloudy?
He put his at cloudy
About time, don’t know why we cooled off in the summer, take the kid whose close to campus when focusing on comparable talent.
All accounts were he was not very fast for a DB. Reports are he's improved on that area but not sure by how much.
Well that helps, must mean he’s a safety prospect and Shaw becomes our CB? That or we move Brown back to CB
How's his technique? Being fast is great but, if you don't have the technique, it doesn't really matter (see: Sheffield, Kendall).
scUM insider/homer Sam Webb with the CB of Harrison to tOSU.
And the crystal balls start rolling in for the good guys [insert smirking Grinch gif]
I'm not saying it would all happen... BUT:
- Days ago, DAYS... the mgo board was going nuts about how OSU is falling off and they are on the upswing.
- They have a 5 star that transfers away
- * a few days later we land a 5 star DE that they were supposed to bring in.
- * a few days after that we land the #8 rated prospect of all time
Like I said, I don't know if it happens, but if it does I will be ready to enjoy it.
Because I couldn't go for 3.
Aw man, what are some of these whiners on here gonna bitch about now?
Don't worry, the never happy guys can continue to complain about our DB recruiting this year.
What DB recruiting? Lol
The hard-ass Mods on here....
CEO of 247 sports with a CB to the good guys for Harrison. Almost even up with scUM on the CBs!
I think Michigan is running third at this point.
Wiltfong with the CB of Zach back to tOSU.
If this holds up BG and Givler deserve the most props bc they never backed off their predictions of where Zach would end up. Givs would even predict, correctly mind you, in advance of what Zach would do next.
Lastly the over/under for new Harrison threads is set at 2.
The fact that the notorious UM homer Webb threw in the towel and changed to OSU is the most telling. That guy goes down with the UM ship always.
And credit Larry Johnson. I think he will be the guy that got it done in the end.
Gotta give Gleitman credit too. He never came off his Buckeye CB either. Also, BG, Givler, and Gleitman are probably the 3 I pay the most attention to in regards to Ohio State recruiting.
Excellent news, 3 Five stars in 2019 class not that bad my friends!
Also recruiting impact related but apparently some posters on Bucknuts are saying Fields recently started following guys like Jordan Fuller, Blue Smith, Tyreke Johnson, Coach Day, etc.
No idea if it's accurate but just some more potential smoke I guess.
Looks like signing days under Coach Day may not be boring after all :)
He did follow Paris Johnson Jr., Ruckert, and Teradja Mitchell.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
Any chance Day pulls a rabbit out of his ass and keeps battle in this class.
Was thinking that...sounded like Battles relationship was with Urban, but with this momentum it has to be hard to walk away.
Prolly not but I could definitely see Day signing a new DB before February. He almost has to.
That sounds painful..
But to actually add to the conversation, I was wondering the same. Were the rumors true that he told the Ohio State staff that they were out and not to come for the visit because it was down to Alabama or Oklahoma? If so, I doubt he changes it up a week later and signs with Ohio State. If that was false and the rumblings that Alabama is being shady with wanting Battle to wait to sign until Dax is in are true, then we may have a a puncher's chance!
Honestly, keeping the current class together (Nester and Battle included) and adding Harrison would be quite the win for Day and company. Fields would be the icing!
I doubt it, but they need to try and get DB, particularly a CB in the class. But that would be sort of a downer look at the various recent developments. I imagine that they could find one, maybe? Might not have tons of stars with the position but probably a solid guy.
It sounds like the possibility for that is Bama keeps Dax Hill and Battle doesn't want to compete at S with Dax. Then he decides to stick with OSU over OU, which is no sure thing either. Just based off the rumors and what Birm and others have written it sounds like 5-10% chance range he ends up a Buckeye. Improbable but not impossible.
If Day can keep Nester in the fold, only lose Battle, add Harrision and Fields...that is beyond the best transfer of power
I have ever seen.
If we add Harrison and Fields while holding on to Nester I may have to do my first Desk Pop.
You haven't done a Desk Pop yet?
No one has been convincing enough in their arguments to lead me to believe its a real thing, Ryan Day may change that soon.
Pass on Fields. Don’t like his attitude. Every QB we have on roster is a team first player. This seems like he is a me first player.
I sure hope the coaches are not listening to you...kid is a program changer at QB and would be better than anyone not named Haskins at OSU. How do we know our QBs are team first? I am sure Martell has not been happy this season and hence why Meyer threw him a bone with the red zone package. Kids come to college wanting to play ASAP. The days of sitting until you are a junior or senior to get your chance is over.
The idea of "Meyer throwing him a bone" was done in the best interest of the team. He wouldn't have done it in tight games, such as the MSU game to appease a player. Come on lol.
Best interest of the team? How successful were those vs Michigan? Haskins had more success running in the red zone,
Tate has been vocal about wanting to play while fully supporting his QB and coaches. Not once has he bashed the play calling.
If you think Tate is a better QB for this system and better than Fields then that is your right. I disagree. I want to see OSU be successful on the highest level and a talent like Fields can do that.
In addition, I would not just give Tate the job with or without Fields here. Baldwin, to me is a better option than Tate.
I don't know anything about Fields but in his defense he didn't know this was going to be recorded but he also said it out of frustration, the Fields package was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life. He would be given one zone read play every 4ish series and then go back to the bench.
I am not sure it is fair to judge somebody by one comment like that. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes and other things. He wants to play and start and thinks he is not getting a fair shake. That depends on the person more than anything else.
Does not mean he is not a team player. It is just easier to be a team player when you feel like you are contributing to the team. Martel pretty much has had the same general attitude. It would be hard to say no to a player of this potential.
Every QB wants to play. If they aren't going to play store their current school then they transfer. That's just the nature of the position. Is Joe Burrow a "me first" player because he didn't want to backup Dwayne Haskins?
Fields has been publicly supportive of Fromm and has even gone out of his way to say positive things about him. He got caught here showing a little bit of frustration, and it is pretty mild frustration at that. This kid believes in himself and expects to play, he's not tearing the Georgia locker room up due to it. If you think Martell hasn't grumbled at all about his playing time you're wrong. Urban even basically alluded to it a few times saying how frustrated Martell was and how they needed to get him in more.
Read somewhere the other day (a Birm article maybe) that Ohio State is absolutely pursuing Bubba Boldin.
I've been wondering about Bubba and haven't seen much about him lately. I tend to wonder if the Tate/Fields situation would have any impact on his interest in OSU.
Assuming Fuller leaves we are probably one safety away from having a really good secondary. Okudah-Bolden-White-Wade is a very talented secondary.
Josh Proctor and Tyreke Johnson should contribute quite a bit next season as well.
Kyle Rowland reports OSU is in front for Fields because of Ryan Day. FSU doesn't make any sense to me, they already have Deondre Francois and the person who filled in for him a couple years ago and they are bad. Oklahoma almsot makes too much sense their depth chart compared to ours is much easier to win the job and Lincoln created two heisman winners in his first two years.
Oklahoma has the number one rated QB ( Spencer Rattler ) committed in the 2019 class.
"You can never pay back, but you can always pay forward."
If I was Fields and I just made the mistake of going to a school because I think I can beat anybody out depth chart would be right near the top. Competing against a third year Tate Martell or first year Spencer Rattler seems like an easy decision to me. If Rattler isnt enrolling early(I have no idea) then Fields likely wins the job easy at Oklahoma. I hope we get a QBgeddon part 2 but he could easily be beaten out by Tate and not play a down for a couple years. If he wins though he will be a top 10 pick eventually.
Id take Bubba over Battle. Harrison and Fields would be a miracle pull. Things are about to get really exciting or really disappointing really fast.
You can hitch myself and Kboney on the Bubba train.
I think we need a thread where every poster who ever wrote about Zach that he was: a) never coming here b) not worth it anyways c) a prima donna (my favorite one, for a kid who literally doesn't talk) or d) a project and probably overrated - every poster should come and take their richly deserved beating from the masses.
You want accountability in 2018? Surely you jest?
C and D were always my favorite. All reports were basically just speculation from people kind of close to him or third hand info from people around coaches. And he easily has the highest ceiling in the class at 6'5" 245 and a 4.4 forty. I get people may prefer Stover, but he would be ranked higher than anybody that Urban guy ever pulled in.
Not sure why anyone would apologize for “D” on your list.
it just may be true
I'm in D. Doesn't mean I don't want him at OSU. Top 5 freak athlete but not necessarily top 5 player. But he has the potential to be and with LJ coaching him, could be realized
I watched him play in the playoffs, I've said he's a project and still believe that.. almost all 18 year olds coming to OSU are.. it's not meant bad a slight coming from me at least.
He's an amazing athlete and hopefully will be an all American under this staff tutelage..
Crystall balls rolling in for Cornelius Johnson to Michigan including Wiltfong. #256 overall 4 star from Brunswich school in CT. They lack outside receivers in their class so this would be a really good pickup. He is 6'3" runs a 4.58 forty 4.1 shuttle(good) and has a 37 inch vertical. He is only 195 lbs so he probably has a couple years to develop but they have really good junior receivers, another good pick up for them but that isn't stopping their bleeding from losing Hill, Soloman, and likely Harrison.
Cyrstal balls for Quavarius Crouch to Tennessee, he is no longer a 5 star and has tumbled in the rankings but still good for Tennesse.
Peyton Powell's new leader is Baylor.
There is talk that Black might be on his way out. Not sure why any WRs would want to play in Harbaugh's offense.
Crouch was just at Tennessee about a day ago. Has a lot of pull in the surrounding area going and feeding into Tennessee
TN has a chance to be a surprise top 10 class. Looking like they will add Darnell Wright, Crouch, Eric Gray which will push them towards top 10 range depending on how others finish.
Is Darnell Wright signing tomorrow? I thought he was waiting until February.
I'm not sure. TN seems to be the prohibitive favorite though. Hope he does wait until February though because it would be amazing to have a repeat of the NPF situation from last year for the Buckeyes.
Especially if Nester isn't signing, with the supposed beef between them and that making Wright sour on the Buckeyes early on.
Bigtime, Bigtime, Bigtime, Go Bucks !!!!!
I’d suggest someone create a thread as one-stop place for signing day chatter tomorrow. I’ll be 40,000 feet over the Atlantic and don’t care one way or the other, but might be a good way to keep things clean around here.
Birm and AE have just changed their crystal balls for Zach Harrison to Ohio State.
Chase Young retweeted the 11W story about Fields and OSU
Any word on Nick Broeker? Haven't heard much about him in a while. If we could get him, along with ZH and McKenzie tomorrow that would be huge!
Likely staying with Ole Miss, were probably getting Harrison and McKenzie though
The latest is that Nick Broeker will sign on Thursday as it is pushed back a day.
Alex G. just made his final call on Harrison...assume it is OSU
So aside from the 15 committee and what we know about the, it looks like McKenzie a s Harrison tomorrow. If we wanted to get this class to 20, who are 3 possibilities out there for us by Feb?
4. Darnay Holmes
4.5. Darnay Holmes' nephew (2029 class)
His nephew could become the next Haskins
5. Alex Anzalone
6. Sam Bruce
7. Carlton Davis
Does Mathis not sign tomorrow due to the Fields smoke?
Think he signs. He has to. OSU has no idea about Fields and needs a QB. Birm said today Mathis was solid.
Not clear. I tend to think he signs, but base that on nothing. He tweeted about it but given the transfer has not happened, it probably will have no impact.
It is also not clear that OSU would be his destination. It depends on what report you read.
What about Lamarcus Joyner? He’s a 6-star!
Early Signing Period Primer:
Are we looking at bringing any other transfers in besides Fields and Bubba Bolden?
It's a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio... and TTUN still sucks.
So, going into tomorrow, we are watching Harrison and McKenzie closely.
Broeker may not announce until Thursday, but is expected to stick with Ole Miss.
I guess we are also watching to see what Battle does. We'll be waiting on Nester until February, and Chambers is solid but may not sign until then also.
Anyone else? Maybe getting back involved with Devonshire and chasing him into February also?
Also the potential transfers mentioned above (Fields and Bolden).
Alabama is sitting at 24 commits and is somehow favored for Nakobe Dean, Evan Neal, and also expected to flip Battle. Plus they're fighting Georgia for Trey Sanders. How the heck do they have the room? lol
Same way Ohio State always has room. They find a way.
Gilver references a solid commit wavering. Anyone know who he’s talking about and if they can summarize article.
It’s Dwan Mathis.
Great! We need him! Only two QBs on roster next year.
Chugunov will be there too, but still need Mathis.
I was worried he might waver with all the Fields talk. Hope he ends up sticking.
Does it give a reason? Because of Fields rumors or something else?
Worried about the Fields rumors. Don't think he should be. Tate and Baldwin would be more effected by Fields.
Does he still think Mathis will sign tomorrow
Even still, he owes it to himself to think it through fully. Also, there's no guarantee Tate stays if Fields comes.
Let's assume Haskins goes, Fields comes, and Tate stays (Big assumptions). The QB room in Mathis' sophomore or rs freshman year will be Fields, Tate, Baldwin, Mathis, and Miller.
It's fair that he thinks about this and possibly even waits until February to see how things shake out.
“In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.” ~ Baba Dioum
Any idea who Givler is talking about when he says someone is wavering? Is it Nester? Chambers?
*** sorry just saw the post above
Yeah, not sure why Mathis should be too concerned about Fields. I have to assume he didn't expect to come in and jump ahead of Martell and Baldwin...odds were he was redshirting and sitting a season after that regardless...
And Birm is sending out cryptic tweets anyone know what this is about
Mathis wavering bc of Fields
Could be Nester
Shaun - The more I think about it, and after seeing some of the previous posts, I not so sure it is Mathis. I'm not sure that would make sense that it would be Mathis. Nester isn't a bad guess imo.
So let me get this straight people ask who it is, then myself and others answer that it is Dwan Mathis that he is talking about because we’ve read what he posted and then you say that you think it isn’t Dwan Mathis. You’re right we all must just be lying.
Settle down Urban, it’s clearly Nester

Birm cautioning to pump the brakes a bit, says he and haselwood want to play college ball together.
I am very curious at what this deleted tweet says that Birm references. This is Haskins and Fields off season QB coach. Any internet sleuths able to figure it out?
Could Hasslewood be our under the radar steal for the class? Would be sick if Hasslewood and Fields devised a plan to both sign with the Bucks.
It was along the lines of he doesnt know where Fields is going and is very annoyed at being blown up over saying he wants his kid to play for Ryan Day
Fully expect Mathis to not sign tomorrow. Just my opinion but the Fields stuff has him worried
AE just mentioned also that Georgia has contacted Mathis, to add another twist.
I had heard they were meeting with a committed quarterback in this class once they got word field was looking to transfer just didn’t expect it to be Mathis
Haselwood with a CB to Oklahoma I would say there is a better chance for him and Fields to play there than to play together here.
Hence #wishfulthinking lol
It’s going to suck if Mathis backs out and signs elsewhere and then fields doesn’t come here.
If he wants to know just hold off to February.
Hoping that if Mathis doesn't sign tomorrow, he will at least wait and see what Fields does and then possibly sign with OSU in February.
Having him hold off, sign elsewhere, and then Fields go to Oklahoma was the nightmare scenario I envisioned last night when I was saying that I kinda wish we'd just stand pat with Martell/Baldwin/Mathis (and Chugunov).
The nightmare scenario is missing on Fields, Mathis going elsewhere and then Tate transferring if he loses the job to Baldwin
Mathis would be wise to wait to sign. See how it all plays out.
Calm down everybody. Mathis wouldn't even see the field here for 2 maybe 3 years. With the new transfer rules Id say losing him would have minimal impact and may even attract a QB of higher skill in the near future with 1 less body in the QB room.
Would agree with this if you're trading Mathis + Martell for Justin Fields you do it. Talent like that never becomes available twice in a college career and we should've offered him the same time we offered Emory the first time around. Yes I realize he hasn't played much but I believe he's played as many snaps as Martell.
The question I have is, on what grounds of Fields going to apply for a waiver from the NCAA to play next year?
Hasselwood is supposedly most likely going to the U based on CB’s.
Hopefully Fields makes a decision soon so we can figure out the QB situation for next year
Fields will only come here if Haskins declares for the draft
Dwayne is as gone as gone can be at this time. He's also close with Fields so i'd have to imagine he's told him too.
This has been covered, but...
Fields and Haskins both use Quincy Avery (QB coach in Atlanta)... They have some type of relationship... I imagine Fields and Haskins have communicated... The fact the Fields is considering us, should be a sign that Haskins is leaving... Just because its not public, doesnt mean the decision hasnt been made...
Something to remember with Mathis is his potential effect on Justin Rogers. Obviously not a lock to play together in college, but probably wouldn't hurt OSU's chances if Rogers' HS QB was on the roster.
Probably doesn’t hurt Georgia’s chances on flipping Mathis that Rogers has been enamored with the Dawgs for sometime either. I think it works both ways as they could wind up easily being a package deal for them if Mathis is buying what they are pitching.
Elijah Higgins just committed to Stanford. He's one of the classiest and kindest recruits I've ever followed. Best of luck to him.
Yes Mathis is apparently wavering bc UGA is the school that's been talking to him.
Yes it bc the Fields stuff as our insiders not named Birm (who hasn't been stellar lately with predictions) have said it's very likely Fields ends up here.
As of last night Rusty Mansell for UGA who knows a thing or two on the comings and going down there was reporting Fields to tOSU is very strong. He wouldn't post that if it didn't have legs.
Dont think Haselwood and Fields have anything to do with one another. Doesn't make much sense to hitch your career on the decision of a kid who's not even in college yet.
Fields would most likely come and go before Mathis can even realistically expect to play (2 years). I really don’t understand the logic why Mathis is wavering because of Fields. Dumb
Yeah I don't know either but if a kid that talented wanted to come here not sure how you can say no. My only thinking is he could be worried if Fields doesn't get immediate eligibility that he'd sit for 2 or more years.
If you’re referring to Fields at the beginning of your post, I agree, you don’t say no and take him. About the immediate eligibility, Shea Patterson got cleared because Ole Miss got a bowl ban. I’d hope Fields would be cleared considering he was the recipient of a racial slur.
Also SpaceBuckeye feel free to add:
16. OH DE Zach Harrison 6-6 250 https://www.hudl.com/video/3/5440404/5bf37fceab92690c942ec7aa
He's told both scUM and PSU he's signing as a Buckeye tomorrow.
Dear lord please wait
Please do NOT do this.
bad juju to the extreme there.
Agreed. Just be patient.
Nah, when Spoon says to update or updates earlier. It comes to fruition!
Wow he did it...
Lmao like Zach's going to see this thread and say nope not signing with them now!
When BG says to pee on the fire and call the dogs it was when he was trying to confirm the PSU guys had been told. Well BG said this today so he's verified PSU side was told and reported scUM side was also told today. Not sure what you guys are getting nervous about since neither are in the business of playing games.
It's dumb. We have waited for months. Why not wait 14 more hours?
Never a good idea to jump the gun .... Karma
Done it with multiple commits in these threads actually.
Didn’t we learn from Karen Higgdon and his big mouth??
Battle already off the list and Harrison on the list before he signs. Come on.
I swear if Zach Harrison wakes up tomorrow and changes his mind, this place is gonna explode on you two.
Well that would just be silly and technically everybody on the list is on it before they sign...this is really no different than making a crystal ball prediction. So is everybody gonna explode on the people who changed the CBs today?
Dude, you know what I meant. Replace "signs" with "commits" in my previous post.
It's not like we're telling you guys that you're wrong or that BK and BG are providing incorrect info.
That's fine and again Ive actually done this before with other commits in these threads.
But I'll take the fact Kurelic was told tOSU today, BG confirmed both opponents sides were told Buckeyes today, and you have Givler saying it's gonna be a good day for the Buckeyes tomorrow.
So those 3 plugged in people vs this thread??? No offense but I think I'll take the 3 guys who have been close to this recruitment for 2 years now.
So of ZH does sign with the Bucks tomorrow, what is everybody going to do to us? E-hugs would be dope!
They are going to say it was dumb to add his name to this list today.
because it is.
It's weird that nobody cares when recruits are added before they commit any other time. Anyway, I appreciate your input but I'll ride with Spoon, the creator of these threads and probably the most knowledgeable user of the site (IMO).
I agree. Learn a lot from spoon! Ty btw
As always appreciate any kind words. But always need to reiterate I am NOT an insider. I am not the authority on recruiting and have been wrong before or made awful predictions lol.
I am not the most knowledgable person on the site either. We have a ton of smart people on this website. I mean we're all Buckeye fans so that's always the first step in the right direction. But in all seriousness that's a cringe worthy statement bc there are more knowledgable people than me on here and I don't claim to be some savant. So while again I appreciate it and having my back its not necessary to claim I'm something I'm not.
I would like to take a minute to confirm that I am also not the smartest poster on this site.
I am not the most knowledgable person on the site either
Correct. It is actually I, Barfolomew, that is the most knowledgeable person on this site.
Well Barf when it comes to gifs I'm pretty sure you've got everyone beat.
OT but any chance you've been working on some Ryan Day gifs to use when we land big booms?
I've got some gifs up my sleeve and I bet Oh.A.Shoe and Kbonay do as well.
Oh.A.Shoe and Kbonay do as well.
Ball's in your court now Zach Harrison. You want a boom gif or not?
"Ohio fullbacks should stay in Ohio and play at Ohio State." - Earle Bruce
Barf had probably the best usage of a GIF that I've ever seen on this site earlier today.
The good thing is that this is only maybe the 4th or 5th dumbest fight we’ve had on these threads.
You guys are like the kids who can’t wait til Christmas morning to open the presents. Shame on thee
Let's start a PT 27 signing say Eve thread and leave the middle School stuff in this one
My dudes Space and Spoon! Keep the updates coming! Karma be damned..
Who are you and what have you done with Toby?!
BM5 today said not to expect Brian Snead on the team next year. This makes taking two RBs in Steele Chambers and Marcus Crowley much more sense that it did before. Depth chart next year will be JK, Master Teague, and those two. Then they will compete to start after JK leaves. Also allows you to take 2 next year if you can get a couple studs.
That's a bummer, I wonder what happened with him.
Agreed...kid looked the part early on when he got it. Looked a lot bigger than I thought he was.
Might have been a 6 of 10 on the behavior front, a 7 of 10 on the performance front, 0 of 1 on MTIII-or-Snead front, a 4 of 10 on overall depth need...and after weighing all that, treated like he was a 3 of 10 on the behavior front to manage numbers.
Or he was a 2 of 10 on the behavior front.
Or he was a 4 of 10 on the behavior front but not appreciate the discipline.
So, basically I'm taking bets with those three options: marginalized for space, did something irredeemable, or decided to find a less intense situation. Please send your wager this way.
He started the year as #3 behind a guy that's going to the draft this year and a guy that's likely going to the draft next year.
I've gotta think he did something bad. I do like MTIII though.
talk is cheap. SEND ME MONEY.
If I remember correctly, I think he was forced not to dress one week because of his behavior and he also didn't travel with the team on a road game if I recall.
They’ll actually probably need 3 next year since JK is likely gone after next year.
Some times for players to commit tomorrow. Jordan Battle 630 am. Noah Cain(PSU,Texas,Tennessee) 11 am. Cornelius Johnson(Michigan, Stanford, Notre Dame) 915 am. Zach Harrison 1230. Jaden Mckenzie 230 pm. Trey Sanders 1220. Evan Neal 1p. Nakobe Dean 1p.
Really big day for Bama tomorrow so good to see them follow up their first non #1 class with likely the best class ever really good underdog story. Jordan Battle likely flipping tomorrow morning means the Dax Hill story could dominate the day, has reportedly said he does not want them to over sign, Bama will likely call his bluff, Michigan people feeling confident, Isaiah Hole of Wolverine Wire said he is 65%(random number) sure he will flip regardless of what happens with Battle.
I read somewhere that Zach would be tweeting his decision at 8 or 9 am and then having the ceremony at 12:30.
It's crazy that a top level recruit would let a team play games with him like that. On one had, you have the opportunity to be the only DB taken at a powerhouse and the other, you are the 6th DB taken and their playing mind games but an annual NC compeitor.
I would just feel disrespected and say piss off...GO BUCKS!
Hey...Day is scooping up 5 stars now...send him over to talk to Dax...might as well. (I know I'm dreaming BTW).
Battle will be a national championship winner and probably only see the field for special teams. He ain’t touching the field with their stacked secondary.
Damn battle going that early does not speak well to any chance of holding onto him.
I’m surprised that Battle is signing tomorrow. I figured he was waiting until February at this point.
Does Georgia have a 2019 QB commit? I am assuming not if they brought in the TAM kid for a visit as well as reached out to Mathis.
They do not and it may end up being a real wild signing day tomorrow.
In the end if you had told me that during the same month Urban retired that we would keep the majority of the 2019 class, only suffer 2 replaceable decommits from 2020, add Jaden Mckenzie, Tommy Eichenberg, Zach Harrison, and likely Justin Fields I can't think of a single person I know that wouldn't have taken those results
Miller, Wilson, Harrison... Huge for day for Day!
Georgia has that Plumee kid. So they do have one QB. He's a top 300 player and a dual threat.
Yeah but he might flip to Ole Miss. John Rhys Plumlee
