They may very well be good next year (just like this year).

Keep in mind that freshman players make mistakes, often on defense and by turnovers on offense, both of which boost an opponent. How long it takes for freshmen to get it (defending without fouling, valuing the ball, rebounding, etc.) may determine game results. Also, with CJ & Woods departing, someone with less D1 experience doing so will have to bring up the ball & direct the offense. And few freshmen players are D'Angelo Russell from the get-go.

Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !

Have to love the team's defensive effort in the last 14+ seconds but hopefully it will not come down to that too often. Hope they learn to stay focused the full 20 minutes of each half and not let things slide they way they did closing out both halves today.

This team is learning every time out. I have to admit, although I loved Thad, and was a big backer, for the last few years of his tenure I hadn't watched a lot of Buckeye basketball. It was often painful to watch.

This team is fun to watch! Although they make a lot of the mistakes you would expect of a young team, they always hustle, scrap, and play hard. It has become must-see tv for me. Go Bucks!

You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!

Holtmann's right, we didn't have enough ball pressure and didn't do a good enough job closing out on shots and he didn't do a good enough job managing the offensive possessions at the end of the game. Good to hear a coach recognize the things he and the team need to work on and take responsibility for it in the post-game.

This is a very young team and an inexperienced team, but man having someone like Woods on the team with his experience is going to be pivotal to making a run in March

Good to see a young team come back and then hold off a surging opponent (We will fight to the end . . .). This is very valuable experience . . . if they learn from it.

College basketball writer, Joe Boozell, wrote this about the 2018 Buckeyes & CH:

Chris Holtmann might be the most underrated coach in the country. . . .  Holtmann maximizes what he has, and Ohio State welcomes in some talented transfers and freshmen. The Buckeyes will likely dance once again.

Methinks he's correct. Still, there's a lot of hoops yet to be played.

Welcome Tressell, but beat YSU!

Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !

I was at the game and it was very frustrating seeing them hit threes without good pressure against them. I wondered what they were thinking. Same thing with their late run in the second half. It was like we forgot to play defense or were tired. But, a win is a win and I'll take it. Survive and advance!

From Jim Tressel to Thad Matta to Urban Meyers to Chris Holtman. Damn we are on a stretch of incredible coaching hires. Ryan Day the ball is in your court! Let's make it 5 in a row!

That was a very strange game.  It really felt like we were totally dominating pretty much the entire game, but Bucknell just kept jacking and making 3s.  It also felt like we took our foot off the gas a bit too early.  We were up 11 or 12 with about 5 minutes to go and had 4 straight possessions where we took the shoot clock too deep and ended up either taking a forced bad shot or turning it over. Against a 3 point shooting team no lead under 20 with more than 2 minutes left is ever safe.  Good lesson to learn in a win.

Bucknell did a great job of setting up for wide open threes with their passes.  They used three and four quick passes to their shooters and usually found the guy who was wide open the moment OSU's defense began to collapse to the box expecting a drive.  I thought they had a great game plan and the experience of that should help the Bucks in film study.  But in the end, the final fourteen seconds was worth the price of admission as the defense rallied.  Wasn't at all a pretty win, but once again through grit OSU got it done.  It felt like a tournament game and the Bucks played it that way without giving in to a team hellbent on the upset.

Never place a bet on anything that can talk.

How is Andre?  I noticed that Bucknell was getting some cheap shots on our guys during cuts and screens.  I saw a lot of body hits.

I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box but I'm one of the most colorful.

I'm hoping to talk to the trainer who worked with him to learn more, but Holtmann said after the game that he's "fine." Kaleb Wesson also said that both of them lost teeth in high school, so this isn't new.
