Hoping the conference does well! There are some though matchups. An 8-1 finish would be awesome!!!
Life long fan of... The!
The 8-1 or whatever it was last year (looking at you, Michigan) didn’t seem to help us this year with media perception about the conference. But you’d better believe if we go 2-7 this year, we will hear all about it.
I see you received the token DV from an ESPN media apologist.
"Hit them hard and see how they fall"
Actually it did. In the preseason talking heads were calling the Big10 east the best division in football. The Big10 completely blew that perception with a terrible OOC record to begin the year.
It DID carry over to the preseason polls, but a bunch of nasty spills in OOC games changed thing. And quite frankly, what the conference does THIS year quite properly matters more for this year than what happened last year.
Miami in NY in winter - take the Badgers
Miami’s has made it clear over the years that they want nothing to do with cold weather.
I remember Miami playing Wisconsin a few years back and the temps dipped to the low 50"s. The Miami players were freezing (had the big heaters, thermal cloths under their uniforms, big coats on the sidelines, etc.). It was really embarrassing for them in my opinion. Hilarious though as practically no one on Wisconsin even had a long-leaved shirt on.
Hope it snows in New York that day. On Wisconsin!
Im just praying that Prince and Co can stay onsides, the CBs look for the ball and we dont give up a century in penalties.
Oh, and a win of course.
I don't recall Prince lining up offsides? Maybe you mean false starts. In that case yes, him and Pridgeon need help. The CBs should try fielding some deep fly balls and maybe practice at WR a bit to figure out how the whole finding and tracking the ball thing works.
Am I mistaken and Noah Fant is not passing on the bowl game?
Last I heard, Fant will not be playing.
“We are disappointed Noah will not be finishing the season with his teammates,” Ferentz said. “He is a tremendous athlete and we wish him the best as he pursues his goal of playing in the NFL.”
All is not lost for the Hawkeyes, though, as his teammate, T.J. Hockenson, won the Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
Dang I had not seen that. That sucks. Hate watching Iowa's offense but love watching that dude play.
Lol. The Gophers leaving Minnesota and heading to Detroit. That ought to be a thrill for the kids.
Welp, they can still claim they went south for a bowl game.
It's a life lesson to never ever go there.. don't even drive through.
College football is so political it's disgusting. We went 3-1 versus the Big 12 in non conference play this year, had a 7-1 bowl record last year, but are consistently treated like none of that matters - although I will say that bowl matchups aren't a great indicator of the strength of a conference, as regular season is much different. Teams don't have a month to prepare during regular season, plus some teams are more excited for bowl matchups than their opponent, while other teams are disappointed.
If this year's rose bowl wasn't Meyer's supposed last game coaching, I was thinking the Buckeyes would be disappointed with not reaching the playoffs, while Washington would be fired up at a chance to beat Ohio State, making this game closer than it should be.
That said, going 7-1 is still pretty damn good, it's surprising the disrespect the B1G has gotten this year, and even more surprising is Delaney not pulling for the Buckeyes..
However, when Urban Meyer doesn't sound confident about his team's chance in the playoffs, I tend to think he knows - for reference, look at his response after the 2014 B1G championship, compare it to this years, as well as what he said about his team after the 2016 season when they eventually got shut out against Clemson... Doesn't exactly exude confidence at his team's prospects at being victorious
Seattle Buckeye, Green Tony
Are you suggesting Urban purposely didn’t lobby very hard for Ohio State to be selected for the CFP because he didn’t believe his team could win? The guy knew he would be retiring—why would he not want to take a shot with nearly a month to prepare?
GO BUCKEYES !! ...Go Gators !!
"Heavy hitters like Louisiana Tech and Stephen F Austin". That's amazing. If mocking chickenshit Saturday ever stops being funny pull the plug on me.
Negativity is a choice.
As a conference overall we're 10 point underdogs. My first thought was to angrily fly the disrespect flag. Then I realized the spread isn't who Vegas thinks will win it's what they have to say to get people to give them money. They know there's football pride in this region and we will throw money at them to prove them wrong. I'm more interested in who the media is picking.
Can't say I care much about Desmond, Corso, or Palmer's opinions. I'd look at the fan confidence on bowl pick 'ems. And gut instinct.
Fan confidence on bowl picks is a good call.
I have no interest in who the media picks It's doesn't mean a damned thing. Let's see what happens on the field. I suspect the conference record will be more like 5-4 than 3-6, though I'm not predicting specific winners (other than the Buckeyes). The conference wasn't as good as 8-1 it managed last year, nor is it as bad this year as the OOC record would indicate, but the latter influences the money.
I see 6-3 as conservatively realistic. The possibility of 8-1 is certainly there. Most importantly, go Buckeyes!
Only favored in 3, but I think big ten gets 7 wins. If it is 8-1 then of course I hope it is scUM that gets trashed...gatorbait gatorbait
The Excitement Level for the Rise Bowl is an 11 for me. Let’s send Coach out in style.
Fields of Dreams
That’s a lot of excitement. Not sure I want to know what’s “Rising.”
I so remember that SI put on it's preseason cover the front 4 lineman of Wisconsin and thought they were out of their minds to pick the badgers to be in the cfp finals!
Quite buying that rag over a decade ago!
Last year was perfect. It looked like the B1G was going to go undefeated, all M had to do was hold on to a 19-3 lead and they blew it. If they had won, fine whatever, but they collapsed in embarrassing fashion and that was just awesome. However, I don't think the B1G is going to be anywhere close to that this year.
OSU, PSU, Wisky and M all look to be solid wins. After that it gets dicey.
MSU and NW are in toss up games, either could go either way. Purdue is probably next because Auburn is an enigma. After that, I don't see any B1G team with an advantage.
Hoping it’s ten below in the pinstripe bowl.
This brings to mind the last time wisky played miami in a bowl game. I believe it was 08' or 09'. The temp was 42 and Miami's hole sideline was huddled around heaters and had the jackets on wile wisky had no long sleeves and looked rather comfortable.

The last time Wisky played Miami in a bowl game was last year
. . . and b) watching Rondale Moore is always a fun time.
Except on October 20. Not. Fun.
Bobbing for french fries.
The match ups are not as good as last year. Michigan State just can't move the ball. I do favor all the Big Ten teams against the SEC. Although as mentioned, Iowa is a mediocre team, and Mississippi State is ranked....because they are ranked. An appropriate match up would be an unranked SEC team.
MSU's O IS pathetic.
I don’t see Northwestern, Iowa or Sparty winning their games. 6-3 at best this year.

I remember thinking the B1G bowl schedule looked pretty tough on paper last year too...
But I still don't see us replicating last year's success.
I also see the Nerds struggling to win. At the same time, after they untucked themselves following the Akron loss, the only game they had no chance was our Buckeyes. And not to state the obvious, but Utah isn’t Ohio State.
B1G was not good this season!!!
Watch for Timmons to have a big game for Kentucky Wildcats against Mr. Franklin's Penn State Kitties.
6 - 3 or better
