Delusional. That's all I can say about Michigan, their program and its culture. Unbelievable.

I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.

So I guess the annual beatdown Cooper received was a mirage as well.  I'm scratching my head....just seems a tad off.

It is what it is.  Now that makes more sense. I agree with him there.  It was a beatdown of the likes of the Cooper years, in reverse.  And it was well deserved.

Coop's record, as bad as it was against TTUN, is still better than the last three coaches combined they had.

I think Michigan felt that with the early turmoil, Bosa leaving, and a first year starter that this was their year but on top of everything else, they failed to account for game being played in Columbus. As it stands now, they will have home advantage next year and we will have another first year starter, newish HC, and lots of key players missing.

So next year will be the year they finally break through- Wake up A-holes! It is not happening next year either. The 1990s are over and are not coming back.

HS

They also didn’t account for crossing routes...

I agree with the article in general and as always, Muck Fichigan! -- but as I said within a few days of this years game -- don't overestimate how much better OSU is than scUM right now or will be in the near future just by that game in 2018. If you re-watch the game you will realize OSU dominated the game for ONE reason and ONE reason ONLY -- OSU coaches spotted a player (DB #28) on film b/f the game as scUM's  'Achilles' and they proceeded to absolutely SNAP IT during the game, period.

They have plenty of talent up there and will have a much better '19 recruiting class than OSU this year if they get the OL from Illinois, Harrison, and Daxton Hill flips back to them as reported as possible today -- as much as us OSU fans want to think there is a 'huge gap' in talent b/t OSU and scUM -- keep in mind, it is likely Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia enjoy such a huge talent gap a/g OSU right now also -- denying that would be doing the same thing scUM fans do often -- I truly believe roster talent wise (you know...the  'Jimmy and Joes' or 'different dudes') those 3 teams are on a different level than the rest of the nation -- followed a few steps back by the OU's, OSU's, ND's of the world....

HS

Michigan has midwestern and northern “talent”, Ohio State has Southern talent. You saw the difference on November 24th.

That's what any OC does who wants to earn a paycheck. It's up to the DC to find a fix. They shifted to zone and we still burned them. They didn't have a plan c,d,e or f and it was ballgame... we had more skilled guys on offense then they had dudes who could cover them...

No different then us at Purdue or what Herman did during the Championship...

Find the weakness and SWEEP the fu**king leg..

Go Buck!

Are you insane? Why in the hell would Daxton Hill flip from Bama back to a uM team that hasn't proven anything in years?

GO BUCKS!!! *ichigan sucks!!!

Stu, I have a question did you truly read the article? It is not talking about the talent gap you talk about at all. It talks about the history and how it is not a mirage. That this building a powerhouse might be good on paper but the results speak for themselves. Since 1985 they have had 2 seasons with less than 2 losses in them and 1 of those years was a 3 tie season in 1992. The article does not talk about the talent just the results of the seasons and this powerhouse they speak of actually is not the case.

"... what we’ve built here is a powerhouse,” Winovich said. “That’s the Michigan I’m leaving. A Michigan that is headed in this trajectory where the sky’s the limit.”

That's gotta be difficult for Win-0-bitch where the ceiling is a pea-soup fog.

Go Bucks.

Win the Roses.

Some important facts-ttun will say it's a "Mirage"

Since 1950, the Wolverines have finished in the top-5 of the AP poll 10 times. That’s just once more than Michigan State, and ties the Wolverines with Tennessee for 12th over that span.

For comparison, Ohio State has done it 24 times.

Go back 10 years. 20 years. 30 years. 40 years. 50 years. There is no span in which Michigan is even the best program in the Big Ten, let alone one of the best in the nation.

Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.

HS
OSU56's picture

ttun once again will say it's a "Mirage".....

*ichigan has one shared national championship to its credit since 1948. They went 12-0 in 1997, splitting the title with Nebraska in the final season before the dawn of the BCS era.

That season was momentous – and anomalous – in the last four decades of Michigan football. It was the only time since 1974 that the Wolverines have finished a season with fewer than two losses or ties.

That’s the same amount as Rutgers, Oregon State, and Syracuse. Arizona State has more (2).

Ohio State has 11 over that span. Yes, eleven. Urban Meyer did it four times as OSU coach by himself.

Again, Michigan has O-N-E.

Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.

The only way Michigan ever gets on par is if OSU sinks to their level.  I just hope that's not what we're in for now.

Chase long hair hippy Winovich ia an absolute moron, were building a powerhouse, what a delusional asshole, F you and and your delusional fanbase. 2 -16 in 18 years, and 62 - 39, deal with that scUM. I don't know about all of you, but I hope they suck the rest of time, and when you think their done sucking, they suck some more. I hope they get embarrassed in their bowl game. Every time I see a ichigan shirt, especially in my home town of Upper Sandusky I want to smack them upside the head, and tell them to wake the shit up, them colors want to make me puke.

HS

So you are saying Chase is the poster boy for TTUN's newly revised concussion protocol?

HS

Great article that should make us consider why we make a bigger deal of the rivalry than they... At least we can explain that they have been the pesky bug we want to squash every year from distracting us on completing great seasons but like bed bugs, sometimes it is hard to rid yourself of the varmints... Also, bedbugs think they are indestructible, too... Until they aren't. #arroganceissues

The one thing I will always take issue with is denigrating Michigan's 1997 NC because it was shared. Aside from whether Michigan or Nebraska deserved it more, the fact that it was shared was simply a byproduct of the ridiculously dumb way MNCs used to be awarded. Nebraska's 1994 title should have been shared as well.

And the thing is, the ridiculousness of Michigan's pretension to being a dominant program is self-evident from all the other true things mentioned in the article. The obvious cheap shot at the 1997 MNC is completely unnecessary.

HS
Mostly Gray's picture

I think the prevailing wisdom is TTUN, though they had a great team that year, was not the equal of the Nebraska team.  Given the "dumb way" MNC's were awarded, most of us older folk believed TTUN was gifted their co-championship and frankly did not deserve it.

Secondly, TTUN's fanbase seems to continuously imply they are the epicenter of the entire college football world.  With one outright championship in the last 60 years, it is curious why only those outside the blue & maize bubble can see the ridiculousness of their closely held belief.

Excellent summary of their misery.  I will be happy if we continue to close the gap on that all time series head to head.

Enjoy the wins over *ichigan, ....I still remember the dark days of the 1990's....

There are some fans up North who get it ( I think that more of them not getting it is a BIG part of the problem)... I have a good friend who roots for them and he gets where things stand... He's said a number of times it's just ugly and can you imagine what things would look like if Cooper could have won with that talent???

The kids enrolling this fall have seen Michigan beat us twice in their lifetime and not once as a teenager...

That's the thing too many Michigan fans don't get... Cooper had ALL THE TALENT in the world most years but couldn't win. Michigan isn't winning right now or hasn't been for 15 years because our talent is better.. They beat us with better coaching in the 90s not talent..

Go Bucks!

what a GOLDEN... opportunity of numerous facets!

Tennessee is a good comp for Michigan. A proud program with a great stadium, big fan base, great facilities, that pops up for a top five season every 25 years or so and gets everyone excited again.

Michigan is a good team, and Harbaugh will get them 9-10 wins a year while he is there. But they are CLEARLY in the 10-20 range in college programs, not the top 5 and not the top 10 either.

As with Tennessee, the problem isn't where they are in the pecking order - it's the gulf between where their fans think they are and where they are.

After reading that, I'd be OK with moving this game to October.  There just seem to be bigger fish to fry these days.  Maybe Purdue should be The Game.  OSU has had a lot more trouble with them over the last 10 years.

Great share Bernie. Really puts things in perspective of how much the TTUN faithful cling to the past, and how much that 20 year head start, back in the neolithic period of football gives them the ability to cite "winningest program" when they've really got nothing else.

Thanks for sharing.  It’s just a shame John Cooper’s teams didn’t play well against TSUN.  We were clearly the more talented team several years and had chances to win a couple other times and blew it.  But now I’m sounding like a delusional Michigan fan.
