ABSOLUTELY loved the ESPN smack down on Desmond with the “whole wing of winners in the Heisman house” – Go Bucks!!
Then I threw up in my mouth a little bit with the Tua video clip before his family interview.
He is a good player, just the things they said about him, like he did things that no other QB has done. Glad he didn’t win!!
Gotta go rinse my mouth.
PS - *ichigan is SALTY over losing 5* to Bama.
Mgo having a meltdown and the number 62 is well represented in many posts.
And here it is....
Love screwing blue !
"Vitalum Vitalis "
What did Howard say regarding the "whole wing of winners"? And how did BSPN smack him down? (for those of us that didn't watch)
The clip started out with a close up of Desmond smiling his goofy smile, then it was said to Desmond, ..."you might want to look away". Then all the Heisman winners from tOSU were named, then it was said that "tOSU has a whole wing at the Heisman house"! Cut to a close up of Desmond and he looked like he was pissed/gonna throwup/embarassed to be part of Michigan. ESPN, it felt like to me, called him and *ichigan out!! I laughed and enjoyed every second of it. I even rewound it to watch it over!!
That was said to Charles Woodson.
They're both Ohio guys. Everything good that's happened for Michigan in the last 70 years has been due to Ohio players and coaches. Yet they still want to talk constant shit about Ohioans, as if we're somehow inferior. Lolz. Fuc*ing dorky idiots. If it weren't for Ohio boys that program would be on par wirh Boston college or Arkansas.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
Your exactly right. Desmond & Charles were both game changers, but you notice over the past 20 years their not getting those players anymore. Rashon Gary & Jabrill Peppers are good, but not great, they really never stood out to me, I mean somebody who can just take over a game. I hope Zach Harrison takes notice.
loved the ESPN smack down on Desmond with the “whole wing of winners in the Heisman house”
Pretty sure it was to Charles Woodson, not Des.
Make preparations in advance. You never have trouble if you are prepared for it.
Way to go Dwyane - You represented most excellent!!!
Shocker... you can't see it but my eyes are rolling..
What a joke. Best QB in OSU and B1G history, hardly gets the time of day from the media.
Never stood a fair chance when Tagavailoa & Murray were anointed in the preseason.
Very solid campaigning job by Ohio State.
anything that OSU would have done to promote D Haskins would have been drowned out by more on the Z Smith story , also end of the season hype would have been overshadowed by Urban's leaving
More than that, the media covering Ohio State were all into the Zach Smith abuse allegations and the Michael Drake suspension of Urban Meyer.
The AD Gene Smith's PR people were all busy defending Urban's return. There was no time and no ink left to print stories about the amazing performances on the field of Dwayne Haskins.
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
Is it possible voters decided to penalize Haskins because he was at Ohio State, a school the national media was crapping on?
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Hmm, that's very possible, but I wouldn't want to take it that far. Aloha.
IMO, the Heisman race is a Public Relations battle that's as much about the widespread, positive messaging about an athlete, and how his team fares, as it is about the athlete's actual performance.
OSU's PR people had to overcome the negativity surrounding the lengthy ZS investigation, the HC & AD suspensions/overreactions before they could generate positive stories about an athlete that Urban was reluctant to publicize.
Of course. Think of it this way... If Haskins would have played for Alabama and put up the amazing numbers he did this season down there, would he have won the Heisman??? The answer is - fu*k yes he would have won it in a landslide ! The thinly veiled hate for all things OSU by the media (spearheaded by ESPN) ensured Haskins would never win. He could have thrown for 6,500 yards and 70 TD's and still came in third place behind the other two inferior QBs. ESPN is definitely anti-OSU, don't @ me. I literally can't stomach ESPN anymore. They employ a bunch of outrage mob supporters who go with the company narrative regardless of whether it's true or not.
Nailed it Tiger.
I'm not trying to win a popularity contest. I'm trying to win football games-- Woody Hayes
Tiger my man, you need to update that signature.
UM 4, JH 0
And Bspn can get fooked. Never watch it, hate when I have to for games.
You and your fellow conspiracy theorists can cry and whine about it all you like, but it defies logic for ESPN to be anti-OSU. The use of selective reasoning and confirmation bias is out of hand with you people.
If people held the coaching staff to same standards as they do ESPN theory. Then OSU would be undeafted. I will worry about Espn when the defense is not in the bottom five of giving up plays of 40+ yards, not getting blown out by 30 for third consecutive year, not starting an underperforming QB for three straight years. OSU football has more to worry about than ESPN. OSU fans just always want to point finger at someone else. They refuse to acknowledge OSU is not perfect. I hate to break it to people. But ESPN would love nothing more than OSU to be in playoffs. OSU is one of the biggest cash cows in football. The ratings for their games are some of the most watched every year. They would also like the coverage of OSU and Alabama for a month. The conspirators here are children
Exactly right. Espn wasn't coaching when we shit the bed against Purdue. Anyone remember where we were ranked before that clown show of a defensive attack ? I believe it was possible we were 2nd.
Many say "It's Ohio State against the world". I hate that quote because it's playing the Victim and it seems pathetic and weak. Much like Harbaugh blaming officials. We should be far better than that. Greg Schiano embarrassed us against Clemson. He kept us out of the playoffs last year and this year. There's lots of blame but Victims will cry out "Damn you Espn, you're holding us down."
Give credit where it's due. Offensively A-
Defensively C- with some D+ moments
I don't know how this deficiency is allowed to continue.
BuckinFla, that's a most damaging game for the OSU defense. Haskins was playing offense. He could and should still get accolades despite the D's poor performance.
No doubt.. Haskins was shafted. The media avoiding even bringing up his name. We ve seen articles on who will win tua or kyler...The year Haskins had is better, and on par with the other 2.. it's all about ohio state and Urban Meyer the media was out to get.
Tua/Murray were absolutely crowned by week 3. I shared a few ESPN articles back then showing that they were steering the Heisman conversation in that direction. ESPN can (and does) eat many bags full of dicks. They're a blatantly biased, deceitful organization.
*I will be shamed by someone who comes to the online defense of ESPN (as if they need defenders).
*I will be shamed by someone who comes to the online defense of ESPN (as if they need defenders).
And I’m ashamed that their are OSU fans who love playing the victim card and look to blame others every single time we don’t get our way.
Also, why does ESPN hate OSU and not Oklahoma? Can’t wait to hear this logic bomb.
I don't believe he mentioned Oklahoma. I'd like to see defense of tua before Haskins, or Georgia ranked ahead of OSU. Just my opinion.
We can't be upset that Haskins was an afterthought even after a record breaking season where he faced a tougher group of defenses throughout the season?
Agreed. I think Haskins placing third is ridiculous. I guess I am a homer though. Heisman trophy translates very little with regards to being successful at football's highest level. I bet in a schoolyard pick, Haskins gets picked before the other two. Again, I'm a homer though.
Really proud of him. A great representative of the University. Too bad the process was a farce.
They're all chickens. The rooster has sex with all of them.
Bet Dwayne still would have finished 3rd, even if the Bucks had beaten Purdue. Voters didn't appreciate Urban Meyer and the Smith ordeal. So NO love for Haskins' numbers. TOO BAD!
Go Bucks, put a beat down on UW, Dwayne!
JI row end 78
Good for the baseball player. Had he played the same teams Haskin played he wouldn't even be in NY, let alone the playoffs.
Ohio against the world.
Question for all sports media,,, what else could haskins do to beat the other two?
Bottom line: Played for Saban or Riley, and NOT Urban.
Still think he should have won but oh well a popularity contest doesn't define him. Great, historic season that I and many others will remember for a long time!
Yes, it's a popularity contest and ESPN decides who's popular and who isn't... They're like the bitchy mean girls of sports
Haskins got screwed here
I hope Tua doesn't get beat by his old man for losing this.
That was my 1st thought, and that’s a sad commentary on the way he was raised.
Head north till you smell it, west until you step in it
Comparing the two dads, I'd be more worried for Murray if he hadn't won it. Papa Murray looks like he can spit nails.
I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
? There an actual bad story there or just BSing?
"The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War
His dad would beat him with a belt after throwing interceptions.
Watching Haskins has been an absolute pleasure. He will be a top 10 pick and be a great nfl qb.
Lots of motivation for this team in the rose bowl
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Haskins will be the Raiders 1st pick! Bosa will go to SF#2. Book it!
I can see it. I've been calling Bosa/Haskins as the first two picks since early September (I have archived proof). Bosa #1 and Haskins #2 (or vice versa). I should have played some cash on that prop 2 months ago. I took a good look at all the top QBs through the first few weeks and Haskins was clearly the superior passer. Some people want to point to the PSU game as some kind of proof that Haskins can't perform under pressure but I still believe that the multiple, consecutive egregious drops rattled him more than anything.
Can't handle pressure? Being down by 2 tds with 7 minutes left in Happy Valley is pressure. Leading 2 td drives to take the lead in basically 5 minutes is handling pressure. Especially when he was getting shellacked all day by their pass rush, and we were clearly in a position to have to throw. He grew up that day...he didn't let the drops affect him. He kept slinging it, and putting faith in his guys to make plays. Heisman moment #1 of the season.
Yes!!!! And unlike the Bama Georgia game he finishes while Tua sat.
Twas a scam from the get go. The narrative was written and it wasn’t gonna change. Either over-hyped tua or 7on7 Murray would win. No hope for Haskins who played against a whole different league of defenses. Screw ESPN and this whole system.
But, but ESPN is totally unbiased. You guys who claim they have an agenda are conspiracy theorist...
** Dismissing someone's opinion as "tin foil hat wearing" is disrespectful as hell.
Haskins and Ohio State screwed over for the second time in seven days.
Seven days, 7 on 7, etc.
Murray's win brings OU to 7 total winners, tied with OSU and ND.
Back to back winning Quarterbacks from Oklahoma. Momentum defined. Got to be in the playoffs to be noticed.
No. Many of the Heisman ballots were cast well before the playoff field had been set... The truth is that you have to be pumped by ESPN to get noticed.
Just glad Tua didn't win. Never thought I'd live long enough to see a OSU QB throw for over 4,500 and be an afterthought in the Heisman discussion
Ain't that the truth!
Oklahoma is going to get KILLED in playoff!
Alabama is going to loose in the final!
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
Why are they going to loose?
After beating OU, they'll obviously be playing fast and loose.
That's just what happens. It's natural. Just remember to spit on it for her comfort.
I rather Alabama win it than Notre Dame or Oklahoma
I am so so about Clemson
If it cant be us let Alabama win it again
Exactly. We're the only ones who could stop them without Watson. Right now I hate the Sooners and ND more than Bama. Bama has at least walked the walk.
100% agree with this. I have no hate for bama. They have proven they are the best right now. Its the rest of the sec that is shit but gets pumped up the i hate.
My hatred of Clemson is very strong. Don’t want to see Jackson Carmen and b1tch ass Dabo win it. This is a no-win for us fans but I’d prefer the winner of Okie/Bama win it first and I want ND to lose most.
I just wanna know who voted for Quinnen Williams as 1st place
"I feel ready for whatever awaits me on the other side. I don’t fear adversity. I don’t fear the spotlight. I don’t fear success. And I don’t fear failure." - Braxton Miller
He’s actually a beast, but ironically if it was some Bama homer he only really hurt Tua.
Oh yeah i know, but it just seems like a complete waste of a vote
Who is Quinnen Williams?
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. ~ Mark Twain
Alabama DT. Probably 2nd or 3rd best player in CFB behind Bosa and Ed Oliver but come on... defensive players wont ever win so why even waste a vote
If 2nd or 3rd best player he deserves a vote. Applaud someone thinking outside the box even if he plays for Alabama and is surrounded by many 4/5 star recruits.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
I’m fine with Murray winning. Tua winning would have been obnoxious.
Congrats to Haskins on a great season.
Yeah, Kyler had an excellent season... He deserved to win. I would have been pumped to see Haskins take it home... But I don't really think the Heisman trophy means a whole lot anyway.
No he didn't. Murray plays in a conference with zero defense. His numbers are inflated. The committee got it wrong on Sunday, the voters got it wrong today.
Football is a religion in Ohio. We attend our service every fall on the banks of the Olentangy. A place we affectionately call "the shoe".
And Haskins benefitted from having receivers who could get YAC better than most. Plenty of other quarterbacks in the Big 12 who can't do what Murray did facing the same non-defenses. I think Murray is a good college QB who deserved to win because of what he did with what he had. If Haskins we're Oklahoma's qb he would have done better, but they can't base the decision on hypotheticals.
The yac is offensive design. Haskins can’t be punished for it. If he doesn’t hit those slants in stride, there’s way less yac.
That's my point. Can't fault Murray for hitting his receivers just because of a lack of defense in the big 12
You can always count on the SEC candidate to win the South. Not a shock. People down here are so pissed!
"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed, is more important than any other one thing." - Abraham Lincoln
Dwayne deserved better.
Is it just me, or is Kyler Murray only slightly larger than a football?
AKA the Horseshoe, the Shoe, and the House That Harley Built
American or European?
American of course. European footballs are called soccer balls. ;)
IMO Murray was the right choice. Dwayne should have been close. Tua the clear third but not close to Haskins and Murray.
The award stop being about the best player a long time ago. A real shame we are only likely getting one year of enjoying him.
"Great moments are born from great opportunities." - Herb Brooks
Disgustingly biased award. One guy puts his stats up against high school defenses, one is hyped all seasons, has the worst stats among the 3, and played poorly in the biggest game of the season, and they're both above Haskins who had the best stats, played his best against the best defenses he faced.
Murray had the best stats. Haskins case was playing the best against top defenses. Tuas case was...
He plays for Bama, and they are like, you know, dreamy.
Fields of Dreams
Sorry and I hate to say this but Bama is a MACHINE whether or not you like it. They are THEEEEE program everyone strives to be. It’s just a fact.
Except...his backup played better than him after he went out hurt...
So you just CONFIRMED that Bama is a machine
It's easy to have good stats when the best defenses you play are Army, TCU, and Iowa State.
Throwing for 400 yards and 6 TD's on Michigan's defense is 100000000000000x more impressive than lighting up Big 12 defenses.
This award has become a joke.
It’s been a joke for years
God help Washington
I hope we score 100!!

I thought Dwayne Haskins should have been at least 2nd!
The future is bright at Ohio State!
...especially after the SEC championship game for the bama QB.
10/25 for 164 years, 1 TD, 2 INTs (15.1 QBR)
3 rushes for -21 yards.
Damn autocorrecting, POS tablet.
Hard to be 2nd when 10% of voters sent in their ballots in November ! Smh
Who needs a Heisman when you have Buckeye Nation!
How the HELL did Haskins finish 3rd in the Midwest!!!
Ohio State hate and biased has hit a new low!!
Priority #1: Beat Michigan
Dwyane, congratulations for even making it! I hope you comeback next year to win this whole freakin thing.
Bleed Scarlet & Grey For Life #Crush ttun
If I'm him, I probably think I wouldn't win it even with 6000 yards and 60 TD's and an undefeated record.
Dwyane is a class act. He had a historic season and deserved better than how he was slighted at every turn over the past couple of days.
Turns out that there was a reason ESPN was ignoring Haskins: he was so far behind the other two in the votes that they might as well have not have even invited him. He was a token 3rd invite, nothing more. Blame OSU’s PR department for not pushing him harder, not ESPN.
ESPN found out vote totals the same time everyone else did
ESPN found out vote totals the same time everyone else did
It wasn’t too hard to see how this was shaping up. Every single mock poll had it this way.
I don’t necessarily believe that Dwayne should have won; however, I can also see how much the other two QBs were promoted extensively by ESPN on TV, radio and online, when Dwayne was cast aside.
OSU didn’t seem to do much to promote Haskins either, in particular when he was being pulled from blowouts and the backup QB was getting snaps early in games early in the season.
And if they left him in during said blowouts and got injured, would you not be calling for coaches heads? The Heisman is a bullshit award. Coaches want to win games and keep players healthy, not pad stats for a bullshit award
He got injured anyway !
Pulling him early in blowouts? That’s what bama did with Tua. Murray had more stats because, with him, OU would have lost more games.
You think we win 12 games without Haskins?
You're underestimating their influence. If Herbie says on a Sat night broadcast "Dwayne Haskins is having a historic season and is a worthy Heisman candidate" three weeks ago the ripple effects would be noticable.
That’s not true. You think voters gives a rats ass about Herbie’s opinion?
Alternatively, Haskins was so far behind because ESPN ignored him all year, not just this week.
Alternatively, Haskins was so far behind because ESPN ignored him all year, not just this week
You know, people like me probably wouldn’t respond to you conspiracy theorists nearly as much if you didn’t find some way to turn every single thing they do into some form of anti-OSU conspiracy.
He finished third in the Midwest too, are the midwestern voters against OSU and the B1G too? Did they neee ESPN telling them how to think?
You stand on that hill, I’ll give you that.
Didnt even read Cincy post. I am guessing it is coming to the defense of either ESPN or something about not being anti OSU.
Didnt even read Cincy post. I am guessing it is coming to the defense of either ESPN or something about not being anti OSU.
You are correct! Except for the “defending” ESPN part. It amazes me you people still can’t see the difference between defending something and not buying into the lunacy of some sinister anti-OSU conspiracy.
It isn't a sinister anti-OSU conspiracy. It is simple fact that a corporation will do everything they can to promote their product and try to diminish everything that isn't their product. It amazes me that you can't see that.
So let me get this straight. According to the ESPN hates us club, ESPN loves the SEC because of TV contracts. Yet, we don’t apply that same logic when talking about the FACT(remember you talk in facts) that ESPN pays the B1G more money then any other league over the next 6 years for only half of the TV rights. So ESPN wants to protect the SEC because of the amount of money the paid for the TV rights, yet they want to destroy the B1G even though they are paying the B1G insane amounts of money as well? It amazes me YOU can’t see this.
Also, following your logic, shouldn’t they have also ignored Murray as well, or shown the same “hate” towards OK? I mean, he does play for a B12 team that also has its primary TV deal with FOX, while also having a TV deal with ESPN worth FAR less than that of the B1G. So, why does ESPN “hate” Haskins and OSU and not Murray and OK?
Since when does the amount of money paid by a network to a conference equate to whether it wants to ‘promote’ that conference or not during its opinion and highlight shows? The network knows that the B1G and, in particular, Ohio State pulls ratings during game broadcasts. It doesn’t need to laud over the B1G during the rest of its programming to recoup the fees it pays the conference through increased commercial sales it receives during the games.
That’s the logic we use to prove their “love” of th SEC. And this was BEFORE the creation of the SEC Network. We pointed to the billion dollar TV contract as the reason ESPN had SEC bias. Now that logic doesn’t apply?
Regardless, let’s assume your statement is correct, that ESPN doesn’t need to “laud” over the B1G to get a strong ROI. That same logic dictates that they also wouldn’t shit on th B1G and it’s biggest brand at every opportunity.
....in fact, I would say that ESPN uses a great marketing strategy in its opinion and highlight shows to promote its SEC product to the detriment of the B1G because most of the country hates Ohio State and the B1G. Luring B1G and OSU fans to watch its non-game programming through either direct hostile attitudes towards the B1G or overemphasizing the SEC (i.e., the ‘car wreck effect’) has nothing to do with the ratings (and revenue) it needs during games. And, as for the actual games, ESPN will always reap the profits there because Buckeye lovers will tune in no matter what and the OSU haters will too.
Cincy- you make too much sense. You will be bashed for speaking the truth
Because it just means more....?
When in doubt... Muck Fichigan
I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm base my opinions in fact. The fact is that ESPN ignored the player that broke the B1G passing yardage record by 595 yards and counting and broke the single season passing touchdown record by 8 and counting. They ignored him all season. We all know that yes in fact people do turn to so called experts to make decisions so you can save your "but muh conspiracy theory" bullshit for someone else.
The voters ignored him as well, and if you are blaming that on ESPN too then you are 100% a conspiracy theorist.
Calling ESPN out for shoddy or uneven coverage is fair, but, that does not equal anti-OSU bias.
And no, they didnt “ignore him all season”. He was as high as 2nd or 3rd in their Heisman Watch until the Purdue debacle.
The fact that you didn't read or comprehend my post isn't my fault. Go back and read it again.
I think you are they one not understanding your post. You implied that had ESPN not “ignored him all year” that he may have gotten more votes.
1. If you believe ESPN didn’t give any ink to Haskins as a candidate because OSU failed to produce any publicity material, and not because they did but ESPN chose to ignore it, Ihave a bridge I’d like to sell you.
ESPN ignored Haskins as a candidate pretty much all season which preceded/influenced the vote, not the other way around.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
Of the three in NYC, my feeling is D. Haskins will be the only one playing football on Sundays.
But will Haskins be in the NFL sooner rather than later is the question ?
Murray is playing baseball. But tua is 100% getting drafted, don’t be silly.
Getting drafted and playing are two different things. Haskins will be a star QB in the NFL, while Tua will get one contract and be a backup.
What a crock!!!!
In Antoine Winfield I trust
And just like most news channels, I'm no longer watching ESPN if I can. Shit is too biased nowadays
Gardiner minshew got first place votes..those people need their rights to vote taken away....
Dwayne will be a long time starting QB in the NFL soon. I hope he lights up for passing 7 TD's in the Rose Bowl and runs for another 2.
3rd?????...lost to the little dude???..Haskins needed to carry the trophy out for him...wtf
Love the game over any team fandom.
Ohio Against The World.
If Haskins can stay healthy he will out earn and out win the other two finalists combined. Haskins is a fine young man who has great composure, at tribute to his parents. He will shine on Sundays. He knows this was a beauty contest for the moment and he wants to set a lasting legacy.
Our people are everywhere, Esto Dignus.
Osu left out of playoffs
haskins jobbed out of heisman
meyer’s last game
Rose Bowl setting up as a massive motivation for the bucks
Bullshit!! Murray won't be able to carry the Trains lunch box.
All in go Buck's!
I will say all 3 have really great families.
Seeing Urban and Ryan there with Haskins...makes me feel pity for the Washington Huskies.
Dwayne may have finished third on this trip, but something tells me he will be back in New York again about 5 months from now cashing a check that says I just won at life, while Kyler is playing double A ball somewhere in the middle of Nebraska, and Tua is still sitting in his dorm room.
In nearly any other year, he (and any of these guys) would’ve run away with the Heisman. You can’t say Murray didn’t earn it. He did. The shitty thing was how so much press just discussed Murray and Tua as if they were the only two in the running. Fortunately, they all seemed to be good kids this year.
Please come back next year..Please come back next year...Please come back next year
Well, at least the Heisman stated standards of not just play on the field but personal conduct, etc. seem to be accounted for with these three. Dwayne deserved to be in the final three, and at least I feel like it's an honor , unlike when the award was given to Newton, Winston and Manziel, whose college and personal problems were well known.
Baker Mayfield won it 9 months after being arrested. Pretty sure they don't give a crap about personal conduct.
His point was, as he said, that the “stated” standards were finally followed this year, as opposed to many recent years when they weren’t.
Yeah. The number of winners in the past decade who clearly did not exemplify the other parts of Heisman criteria winning really diminished the prestige of the award for me. This isn't sour grapes from Dwayne getting robbed; you can find some posts from last year where I say this if you look hard enough. But you have a good point that at least all three of these finalists appear to be upstanding, fine young men. That's something to like.
Oklahoma squashed the Baker Mayfield crap and allowed him to make amends , then having a good season increased his odds, planting the flag (attempted) after beating OSU made it even better for ESPN to show that on a loop and even include it in college game day Opening. Dwayne was not given that latitude they were in the process of trying to destroy Urban and his legend , they could care less what Haskins was doing on the field ;way too busy chasing the bad stories out of OSU instead of the good ones . Haskins we appreciate everything you have done for us this year and I’m proud to call you a Buckeye Brother. O-H !
Break down the voting by when they turned in their ballot.
Did Fowler look at Troy Smith and call him Desmond Howard?!? How does anyone make that mistake?
In the long run, Dwayne Haskins will get the national recognition he deserves . . . he'll be the better pro of the three, I suspect by a fairly wide margin.
"Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it." - Woody Hayes
Not even going to get into whether or not Haskins should have won, because we’ve all know for weeks that it was highly unlikely to happen. I will say though, that I’m very pleased that the voters saw fit to pick kyler over tua. The stats between the two weren’t even comparable.
Glad Tua didn't get the award after sucking in biggest game of the year.
Murray certainly is deserving, as is Haskins.
The award is a sham
Never forget how we got screwed in 98
How? Because our guy didn’t win? I wanted him to win, too, but all three were great. Especially Murray. Objective assessment is becoming a lost art.
Eh, I think an objective assessment would have had Dwayne closer to second than what the actual vote showed. The biggest complaint is that this was made a two man show when it clearly should have involved Dwayne as a serious candidate.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
Which is pretty much what I said above, Cooper.
I was moreso responding to your response of the award being a “sham.” I think the media coverage of it was extremely disappointing, but I’m perfectly fine with the winner.
I didn’t address where he should’ve been placed. If I had a vote, I’d have considered - objectively and based on the total body of work - Haskins and Murray as 1A and 1B, with Tua at third. Haskins would’ve gotten my vote because of my fandom.
Haskins was third for plenty of reasons. It's just that NONE of those reasons are his play or ability.
Look at the photo and see the video of the 3 candidates:
Dwayne Haskins is taller, looks sharper, sounds more intelligent, and he put up equal and better QB numbers. If only Ohio State was not distracted by the Urban Meyer suspension and had better PR promotions.
Reminds me of the 1983 Heisman finalists:
The runner up Steve Young was taller, looked sharper sounded more intelligent, and put up awesome numbers as a QB, and even ran faster than the running back Mike Rozier who won.
sounds more intelligent
Not sure why we need to go there. They all seem like intelligent, likable kids. I, for one, love Murrays' buttoned-down, modest approach. I wanted Haskins to win, too, but let's not cast aspersions on the other candidates' intellects.
All three are worthy. To consider one to be better does not mean we have "cast aspersions on the other."
Not going to say Murray didn't deserve to win, because he did. However, Haskins should have been second, not Tua.
Because I couldn't go for 3!
Haskins represented Buckeye Nation well. He comes from a great family. I liked the part where Corse predicted that 2 of the 3 will be back next season.
At this point, I just want both Bama and Oklahoma to lose when they play each other. Wish that was possible.
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
You can say that again.
Haha. Not sure how that happened. Probably because I'm an old guy with technology too far advanced for my skills.
TL;DR: smart phone, dumb user
For me SanAntone, it's just bad eyes and big fingers.
I think the voters should wait and vote instead of early voting. I believe the votes were already in before Haskins performances towards the end of the year. Call me a homer but no way Haskins should be third. I believe the margin would have been closer if it was not for early voting. Thats my honest opinion. ESPN, will always be bias towards other conferences because of the FOX deal. I was surprised to see all of the love towards Murray and not Tua. Murray, had a great year nothing to take away from the young man. I believe he is going pro in baseball and good luck to him. Haskins, will be playing on Sundays. I just hope for sefish reasons he goes back to school for one more year.
This is something I've never understood. If the Heisman award truly represents the best player that year in college football, why not wait until after all the games are played, to vote. Maybe I'm missing something about the logistics, or some other aspect of the award, but wait until after the national championship game to vote and determine the winner over the entire season.
Ummmmm. Most of the votes came AFTER last Saturday’s game. Where are you coming up with that garbage?
I’m honestly sick from how ignored Dwayne was all this time. All the publicity has been towards Murray and Tagovailoa, just disgusts me. I’m over this year of college football and over the media ignoring everything Ohio State unless it is negative news! Beat the crap out of Washington!
The Heisman Trophy IS A SCAM AND A SHAM, it has not been awarded to "The Best" player since GOD was a baby, and to award a trophy to a "Pro Player" really, is this what amateur sports has come to, SHIT they should have given it to someone in the NFL, or the NBA, Murry, already has a checkbook with a healthy signing bonus of 16.2 million dollars...…… so shit shoot me and call me saint nick, I am sure glad, next year, I will not be watching all this political bullshit, and the SEC INVITATIONAL, kyler murry is going to lose by at least 35 I PRAY, maybe he will get lucky and get the SI National coverpage and the SI Jinx, he will get a 3 way injury playing against Bama, and his plying days will be done, and he can retire, and never have to work again, CAUSE HE WAS ALREADY SHOWN THE MONEY ! JEEEZUS I HATE THE STATE OF AFFAIRS OF AMATEUR SPORTS TODAY IT IS A JOKE
TUA 2ND ! and never played a complete game, most from injury...… outstanding WALT DISNEY !
The Heisman Trophy IS A SCAM AND A SHAM, it has not been awarded to "The Best" player since GOD was a baby,
I agree with the first half of your declaration, Cruiser.
Yet, the second half negates TOSU's more recent winners of the Heisman in Archie Griffin (2), Eddie George, and Troy Smith.
And- I have a feeling the Inscrutable Immutable has been around a lot longer than we think. ;-)

Bearcat fans never quit. ESPN sucks and you know it. Going to miss Dwayne. Hell of a player!
It's a joke and always will be
Congrats to Haskins, but this award is a joke. He should have won it.
BS rigged system. I refuse to even watch this stuff anymore!
Load of horseshit
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Haskins got a late start no one knew him and expected the season that he had, He was never even considered at the start of the season which made him play catch up all seasons long. I posted in another thread that I thought they announced 10% of the ballots were sent in before the Conference championship games. Some voters might of changed their minds watching him against Northwestern but probably to little to late??? Not sure if the Urban thing hurt or not but no one should hold that against these kids.
Remember when ESPN was awesome? Sad how far they have fallen. Unwatchable.
I used to watch the sports center rewinds over and over until like 3am when I was younger. I wanna say somewhere between 2006-2008 is when it went down hill.
Didn't watch. Would much rather find out slightly later and give 11w my pageclicks instead of watching the show on ESPN. Take away the off the field nonsense about Urban's health and the Zach Smith stuff, Haskins is at least a close second here.
Pick up your feet, turn your corners square! And DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!!!
It's total B.S.
The Heisman is not what it use to be. Haskins will be the best pro and that's really all you go to college for anyway.
The whole thing just sucks. It looks like they are at a bad outdated wedding reception. And who was the guy announcing the winner? He sounded like an Englishman who owns Manchester United. Plus the whole thing is right in espn’s wheelhouse with their agenda.
Banks of olentangy
Yeah that was surprising. Clearly not a football guy. Apparently he's a member on the Heisman Board of Trustees. He couldn't pronounce Tua's last name, not once but twice. Which was ironic since his last name was unpronounceable as well.
#illigitimateheisman! OSU needs to take a page out of UCF’s playbook (ie., declaring itself national champ) and recognize Haskins as the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner! It’s not like the Heisman committee isn’t a puppet to ESPN. OSU, home to 8 Heisman Trophy winners!
Yes, and he's an All-American as well. Haskins gets a Buckeye tree in the Grove.
It would be an absolute pleasure to watch Murray shit the bed in the playoffs ... and Haskins shine.
Tua's dad reminds me of Joe Jackson. I hope Tua doesn't get an ass beating for losing this thing.
And Chris Fowler can eat a d!@# for calling Troy Smith, Desmond Howard. Ridiculous.
Let’s see Murray’s stats against a real defense , guaranteed he doesn’t have a 400 yard + game .
What a joke. His stats were far better than the others. It is truly us against the world.
I hate that we only get one year with Haskins. They would have to give him the respect he earned next year. At least I would hope they would.
I for one will NEVER forget ESPN's disrespectful treatment of DeWayne Haskins today.
I think it's fair to say that it's once again "Ohio Against the World". About damn sick of the obvious bias against the B1G and Ohio State; hopefully we fucking do something about it next year.
We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Murray had a good season against poor competition. I can mostly understand him winning the award. As far as Tua goes - he feasted on vastly overmatched competition and crumbled against decent defenses. He has no business being ahead of Haskins, let alone THAT far ahead in vote count. The Heisman lost all credibility in my eyes when they awarded it to Winston a few years back. That essentially made a mockery of it. Honestly, if hypothetically given the choice of the 3 QBs to run my offense, I would take Haskins over the other 2 without a doubt.
How embarrassing how some think it’s a scam and the world was against Haskins and Ohio State. Damn conspiracy!!!!
All three are great quarterbacks. Why not just enjoy the moment and we were represented.
If Haskins comes back and annointed the preseason and midseason Heisman favorites, do other teams have a right to bitch about that? It wouldn’t be fair to them.
So true. Don't hate on Murray and Tua to pump up Haskins' worthiness; his stats make him more than a worthy candidate. It just so happens that there were three really strong finalists this year and the hype train for Haskins was the last to leave the station as his best games came at year's end. The early voters and ESPN's decision to not have Haskins on the same stage are both BS, but all three QBs were worthy.
I’m fine with Murray winning. Didn’t face man6 good defenses, but got it done every week, similar passing numbers to Haskins and did a lot more with his legs.
Making me ill to read people claiming that Tua was just as worthy because of how well he played against great defenses. That’s garbage. He was not great when the lights were brightest. His team was, but he wasn’t. Statistically, against better competition, he wilted.
Three worthy candidates and two of them received coverage. This is borderline corrupt behavior by ESPN.
The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win. -- Woody Hayes
These are the rare occasions when Notre Dame winning becomes desirable. The other being the skunk weasels.
Chic Harley > John Heisman.
And Dwayne Haskins won the Chic Harley Award this year.
ESPN neeeeeeeeeds Ohio State to be good. Do all of you not realize that? Seriously?? Do you all not know that??!??
They pay us HANDSOMELY!!! They NEED the ratings. There is ZEEEERO reason to hate us. Many of you just have an inferiority complex. Hell 5 weeks ago this very board was crucifiying Haskins for being slow and one dimensional. Now he got screwed? Come on people.
The fix was in. But first we all want to know why ESPN needs tOSU. LOL
If you don’t understand ratings then I have nothing to say.
You obviously don’t.
Please Explain it with facts. Why would ESPN need only tOSU and not any other top 10 team w mass fan base?
Because the highest rated college football game of the season was Bucks v TTUN.
And that was on Fox.
The fact that Johnny Utah, Shane Falco and now Dwaye Haskins did not get the Heisman is a crime.
But who was the better fictional Ohio State quarterback? An 11w blast from the past.
Murray is 100% of what is wrong with college sports.
Don’t try to reason with that poster. It’s useless
No Trace McShorty or Shea Patterson invited to NY. What happened?
Just curious what Murray's GPA is.
Never thought I'd see an Ohio State QB put up these kinds of incredible numbers and not win the Heisman! Haskins set all kinds of records and still finished 3rd? This award has become a joke! This won't define him and he can use it as motivation to prove to so many of the clueless voters that he was robbed. Thanks for being a great representative of the university and a joy to watch Dwayne! You deserved much better with these national awards.
I'm going to watch the Michigan game again
Seeing the three of them together, if Haskins is truly 6'2, Murray is about 5'7 and Tua about 5'11.
How many voters are there? Murray received 855 total votes (1st, 2nd, 3rd) while Haskins got less than 600. Did that many people reall not have him in the top 3? Just a popularity contest for a lot of voters, i know.

So how's this for a Morning After zinger?
Not that it really matters. The Heisman fait accompli was concocted back in August.
Win the Roses.
Yowsa. Unfortunate look for Murray, but let's remember that he was 14 and 15 at the time and, apparently, had just discovered the word "queer". As a middle school administrator and father of a 15-year old boy/young man, I can assure you that decision-making is not their strong suit. Hoping that cooler heads prevail on this one, but who knows?
Oh, I agree with what you just posted, Evanston. I was a public school teacher for a quarter-century.
Just stirring the pot.
Let's see where social media takes it from here. Presumably back to its lair in Hell.
I like all three of these players, frankly, and though I was pulling for our man Haskins I also think Mr. Murray was a deserving recipient. He is very much a dual threat and one might well argue that his success running the football gave him a big edge over the other two candidates.
I didn't watch the Heisman ceremony because the winner was basically selected about week 3. IMHO, Murray won it because he had the dazzling running highlights where Haskins did not. Personally, I like Murray and if Haskins couldn't win it, I am happy he did!
As for the ESPN bias - I don't believe they outwardly try to overtly pummel Ohio State, but it is sometimes very telling how they frame the story about OSU. If you watch the 3 or 4 weeks prior to the CFP selection, whenever they did a story about Ohio State - they absolutely could not do it without mentioning the Zach Smith fiasco, Urban's suspension, and his health. Just about every theme was framed about how shitty our defense was and how we barely beat other teams... the story about Oklahoma was framed about how great their offense was, ignoring their defense, and never talking about barely beating teams! Just about identical season but the story line was about as opposite as you could get. I do know that the networks all love Ohio State because we bring the ratings - but for some reason, ESPN just seems a bit off the mark when it comes to Ohio State coverage.
