I love the way Chris challenges the team with a tough schedule early in the season. Nice way to see what you have going.
How long have we been begging for this. There's no downside
Better teaching moments for sure, win or lose.
There may be a few cupcakes, there are some top teams too. This guy is pulling their strings to see how they react! Makes for some really interesting games!!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
I love Thad, but I could never get on board with his early season scheduling. I understand the core concept of learning through winning, but it was just too many cupcake teams for my taste (and I LOVE cupcakes).
I don't like nice people. I like tough, honest people.
Shoulda been St. John’s.
Imagine Kentucky at St John....
And if they won...whoa nelly
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
I Believe In Ohio State.
I was in St John when we played Kentucky in '81. We got it close early in the second half. The place was absolutely nuts. Freaking nuts. I had never heard anything like that in my life.
WV would want no part of St. John, besides WV at Ohio State would draw 19,000.
I love the tough early games. Even if you lose them your team is better for the experience. It’s been Izzos strategy for years.
Good!! I’ve taken enough crap around here because of the last time they kicked our ass
lets go, Bucks
Life long fan of... The!
I was hoping this was football news.

You got to give the basketball coach credit he doesn't fear anyone.
And it's going to pay off
......and, with the recruits he’s bringing in with the 2019 class, there’s no reason to fear anyone.
Holtmann is “The Mann”. Incredible hire!
Also worth noting they could potentially have a non-conference game versus a Big East opponent (Gavitt Games). That would be in addition to Cincy @ home, ACC opponent (likely on the road), Kentucky in Las Vegas, and West Virginia in Cleveland.
I play, coach stays. He goes, I go.
Dayum our coach wants the regional bragging rights. Not falling for WVU’s slow start at 5-3. Huggins is a living legend
I don’t see it.
Woulda been a lot cooler if it was playing Cincinnati and Huggy Bear on the same day.
I’ll be there.
Whelp, looks like I know when we will be traveling to Cleveland next Christmas to celebrate with my wife’s family...
I am usually a little guarded in my praise, but I love Chris Holtmann.
I hope we realize how fortunate we are to have him and also to give Gene Smith a lot of credit for this hire.
foundation: 'to be [come] the best, play the best...
since we are not given to know the future...
find and schedule singularly excellent teams & coaching staffs...
such that your team's individuals are challenged to build their team of versatile, not singular, 'excellence'...
such that whole 'keeps growing' by...
exceeding the sum of its parts...
and overcoming adversity come what may, which the Head Coach embraces, and verifies in his scheduling, and appeals to in his recruiting....
When do Men's hoops tickets become available? I want to be sure to get tickets as soon as they go on sale.

Loving the excitement of these schedules. It wasn't too long ago when there might have been one game worth attending before New Year's; now there are 4-5 between the two conference games, the ACC-Challenge, the Gavitt Games, and scheduling better opponents like UC and WVU. I'll be honest, I always thought picking up a UC or WVU would mean dropping events like the CBS classic with UNC/UCLA/UK. Holtmann is taking it all on and I love it!
