He won't win the Heisman, but he's the best QB of the three. Really gonna miss him next year!
He's easily the best QB. Murray may be a better athlete but that's all. Haskins will be a star in the NFL as long as he's healthy and doesn't get drafted by the Raiders.
BigBuckeye says Go Bucks
I'm hoping Haskins goes to the Bengals. If they keep losing, maybe the Bengals move up the draft board high enough that they might be able to draft him, maybe with a swap in draft picks. While they have more pressing needs, a QB like Haskins does not come along very often, and seeing how he's a GREAT Buckeye, I know that would boost ticket sales. Plus Haskins vs. Mayfield twice a year, that would be fun. I'll be disheartened if he goes to the Raiders - not a fan and west coast teams aren't on local TV as much - but he would look sweet in that uniform.
I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
Haskins will be going to the Giants , Thank you

Raiders will take Bosa if they can. Their pass rush, after trading away an elite rusher, has been terrible.
Proud Buckeye, BSBA Class of 2000, MBA Class of 2003
Wait, you're saying that trading one of the top 3 pass rushers in the league did NOT improve their pass rush?!?
What the fuck was Gruden thinking on that one?

Draft picks and money.
I was surprised to see that his name wasn't close to the top for the national POY awards in last night's show - it was all Tua and Kyler - and if you look at any of the ESPN headline articles, it's Tua/Kyler... and then Haskins written in as an afterthought.
I'm not one to put too much stock in the ESPN hating OSU/Big10, but take a look at the articles of the awards and the ranking of the Bowl games and there is enough fodder for any tin foil hat-wearing hat out there. From the Bowl game article (Rose is at 4 after the Playoff semis and the LSU game): 'Urban's tenure lasted longer than his text messages.'
It really is hard to believe that there isn't a segment of the ESPN staff that has an obsessive issue with OSU/Meyer.
ESPN used to be good back in the 80's and early 90's. At some point they allowed personal biases to seep into their coverage and it's been a shit show ever since.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
I think there's several reasons behind why ESPN has an apparent bias against OSU:
#1 Delaney balked at ESPN's demands for the share of TV revenue and started his own network
#2 OSU is one of the best teams in the country and therefore ESPN lost a lot of money. They're still losing money. Holding college gameday in Columbus when the game isn't even on your network shows desperation.
#3 ESPN has a deal with the SEC. Urban Meyer left the SEC and Florida fans don't want to see ESPN praising him.
#4 OSU is one of only three teams right now that could realistically beat Alabama in the playoffs. The others being Clemson and Oklahoma. The others have played along with ESPN, but OSU's dominance threatens ESPN's revenues. Therefore they downplay OSU and jump on any negative information.

I rest your case! Well stated
Out of the 3 Heisman candidates, who will still be relevant in 5 years? That is the question......I think I know the answer......

Well Murray may be the best MLB player of the 3. ;)
Kyler Murray is a Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry-type player, elite in college but is going to be just decent in the NFL. Tua...not sure about him, he could be legit in the NFL. Dwayne though, I have no doubt, will be balling in the NFL playoffs in a few years.
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."
Murray isnt playing in the NFL.
Kyler Murray is listed at anywhere from 5'9" to 5'11". My guess is it's the low end of the range. I would think he'd have to go more of the Taysom Hill role to get QB snaps in the NFL. Tagovailua seems to struggle with pressure. It seems like hes been dinged up every time he faces a team that gets any pressure on him. Georgia was his most recent and worst performance. Where Haskins seems to have progressed through the season, struggling under pressure early but handling it well vs TTUN and NW. If he keeps progressing he should be the best NFL QB of the three.
Tua may be a very good player on totally dominant team. Dwayne played on a team with a questionable receiving corps(beginning of season) and a below average running game(most of the season) and an o line plagued with penalties(24/7)
So Dwayne’s stats are more undividually impressive imo.
I do think improving his footwork and mobility could make a 1st over over all pick in ‘19. But the risk of injury is too high on any actuarial table. So if he’s my son he goes.
Congrats Simba - I'm gonna miss him.
What a great accomplishment.
Go get'em Cal Poppy - we are behind you !!
It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.
I may have missed it...did Dwayne officially announce he’s entering the draft, or is that just the assumption?
"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity..." -John Muir
Absolutely YES - truly just an assumption.
He’s probably more glad than anyone else to see Day stay as coach .., besides Baldwin.
Its just an assumption at this point but realistically he's gone. He's the best pro prospect in an otherwise weak QB class. I've been predicting for months that he'll be the first QB off the board (top 3 pick) and I'm sticking to it.
Just a reminder that PFF had Alex Hornibrook of UW being the best QB in their pre-season rankings. I understand its pre-season, but just watching Haskins come into the UM game last season for Barrett should have been enough to show them that he should of the been the pre-season number 1. PFF is constantly awful in their QB grades, so the fact Haskins won it means a lot because he would have a huge game but then be ranked like #3 in the BIG for no reason.
"You got barbecue back there? Hurt my feelings!"
Eh I don’t know. One game, half a game really, isn’t enough to extrapolate. Look at 12-Gauge in the last 3 games of 2014 vs him getting benched and passed on the depth chart in 2015. Or how about Kenny G at Purdue. When defenses aren’t ready for you, you can get away with a lot more. Obviously Haskins was a different story, but that wasn’t necessarily something people outside of Buckeye Nation should have known in the pre season.
"He has that look in his eye when it's time to start feeding the beast" UFM on EZE
that wasn’t necessarily something people outside of Buckeye Nation should have known in the pre season.
That's a good point. I knew he was going to be special, but that was because I saw him throw firsthand in the Shoe during the spring game. It was eye-popping. The poise, the confidence, the decision-making, the arm strength, the release, the accuracy.
Not many outsiders get that first glimpse, or pay attention.
Thanks for giving us all a great season Dwayne. You deserve all that’s ahead of you. Go get it!

I can't believe we're only getting one year with Haskins. Good job, for him, but he's not taking my feelings into consideration. Clear sign he needs another year to improve his empathy skills before he enters the draft.
I once handed Archie Griffin the keys to his loaner car.
Wait a minute, how did Hornibrook not win this?
Pick up your feet, turn your corners square! And DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!!!
Or Richard Lagow????
You win with people.
This is a TRAVESTY! An INJUSTICE! How could anyone besides the GOAT Alex Hornibrook get this award? PFF spent all season PROVING to us that his regular 147 yards 11/24 1 TD w/ 2 INT games were higher rated because of their advanced metrics. If you can't trust PFF's advanced metrics, who can you trust?!?
You win with people.
And so forth...
9 Units Strong!
Pretty thick sarcasm, I love it +1
It's complete BS that Haskins won't win the Heisman tonight.
1. Tua Tagovalao looked good this year but played a much easier non conference schedule and the SEC West wasn't as tough as usual.
2. Kyler Murray is super athletic and has put up stats but those number are against totally inferior competition. The BIG 12 doesn't play defense as so many in the sports media have admitted.
3. Dwayne has put up better numbers throughout this season against some of the toughest defenses in college football. He has far many more TDs and more yards than the other two QBs and again, against better competition. How do you NOT reward a player with all that being said?
It's a popularity contest and not the search for America's best college football player. What an f ing shame.
Murray has more total yards and the same number of total TDs as Haskins
I meant to say passing yards because yes Murray is a dual threat and have a ton of rushing yards.
It's not a passing specific award though
Meanwhile all other media out there is busy double barrel blowin the other two.
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
Yep, it's enough to make you want to gag -- or gargle in the medias case lol. Haskins is the best QB and will easily have the best NFL career of the three, Murray is the best 'athlete' of the three but plays in the self admitted/prideful "No Defense allowed" B12, the one that stokes my fires is Tua -- he DOES NOT deserve the Heisman!, who could not be very productive with that Alabama team around you and playing that puffer schedule, seriously.
I stated before how co-workers did not know Haskins where I live. Another poster pointed out the lack of promotional info from Ohio St. and the BIG.
I think that eliminates Haskins.
Always and forever, Go Bucks!
The NFL knows who is best. Most, if not all, has Haskins in the first round. Tua is not close and they say if Murray declared he would not go until the 3rd round at best.
It’s sad that a great award like The Heisman has bowed to politics. Like the committee. And I don’t say that because OSU didn’t get in.
Yep, lotta truth to that. No one wants to put OSU in the spotlight for fear of having to answer for this summer all over again.
Murray would go before round 3. Likely in the 1st.
I never even considered looking at THAT network. :)
It sucks but I'm ok with OSU not making the playoff this year as we had our chances. I'll be pissed if Haskins is denied the Heisman. The best season by a Big 10 QB in history just isn't good enough? Breaking the records of an NFL future Hall of famer (Brees)? Not good enough? BS
89??? What's a guy gotta do to crack 90 in this measurement?
Mayfield did it twice...Jared Goff, etc.
Here's the telling statement from PFF:
Look, we liked several quarterbacks over the course of the Big Ten season and as they say, the cream always rises to the top.
Translation: as you saw during the year -- despite what actually occurred on the field of play for all to see -- we'd pre-selected Alex Hornibrook & Nathan Stanley and Trace McSorley as the BEST QBs in the B1G. We didn't really want to like Haskins or Ohio State. We tried hard to prove that our "advanced metrics" told a better story.
Despite trying REALLY HARD -- by the end of the year even WE couldn't fudge numbers and create false narratives to say any QB other than Haskins was the best QB in the Big 10. I mean, we still try to throw some "clean pocket" shade at him but 4600 yards passing with 47 TDs for the best QB performance in Big 10 history -- even we couldn't anoint someone else.
NEXT YEAR -- trust that even though TATE MARTELL will try to do his best Kyler Murray imitation -- we're gonna back Artur Sitkowski from Rutgers the whole season. It's gonna be him or Alex Hornibook. We promise. Unless Martell "Haskins" us.
I'm sorry, it doesn't take a football genius to see that Haskins was the overwhelming pre season favorite for top QB in 2018. It's amazing how much people hate our school.
Excellent write up my friend!!!
Ohio against the world!!!
