Meh, Georgia gets in anyway it will affect ratings of the CFP. Remember how pissed people were of the Bama-LSU BCS title game? That travesty led directly to the CFP in the first place. Let us hope the committee is dumb enough to give us an expanded playoff.

You might be right about the let Georgia in decision. Some of the unbiased experts at ESPN are already pounding that drum.
If the committee is bold or stupid enough to put a 2 loss, non-champ Georgia in the top four....wow. They would have to leap over 2 conference champs with only one loss apiece. The meltdown from that decision would be fun to watch.
I'm not trying to win a popularity contest. I'm trying to win football games-- Woody Hayes
So hoping for this. Then maybe the commissioners whose conferences keep getting left out will grow a pair and confront ESPN and the other powers to get us to 8 where every conference is guaranteed at least one playoff spot.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
IMO there isn't a single argument Georgia as a 2 loss team can make that they should get in over a 1 loss Conference champ. If they get in over either OU or OSU then its time for those conferences to simply tell the committee that they need to follow the rules. Conference champ trumps were good just barely got beat by Alabama
You WIN with people.
Just to follow up. I understand if the Committee picks Oklahoma over Ohio State. There are legitimate arguments each way. We have the 2 best wins and the worst loss. I just can't tolerate Georgia being in the conversation. They lost by 20 to 3-loss LSU, lost a clear "play in" game today, and are in a much weaker division than OSU . Ohio State or Oklahoma would both win the SEC East if they swapped places with Georgia

They lost by 20 to 3-loss LSU,
As a fan base, we really need to focus on the positives and not point fingers at teams for bad losses. I'm not sure our glass house can stand up to those stones.

But the second part of his argument was UGA's second loss last night. While our Purdue thing still stinks, we've only lost once and won the conf champ game. I am not expecting the committee to overlook our boat anchor loss but Georgia needs to stay out of a playoff conversation.
I don’t disagree. UGA should be out. I’ve maintained that stance all along. I also believe that if Bama lost yesterday, they should be out. No Power Five team that loses their CCG should ever get in above a team with the same or better record who wins a CCG.
I think his point is that everyone was giving Georgia a pass on LSU because it was at Death Valley and they appeared to be playoff contender themselves. Three losses later, you can just say they were a good team with a great home-field advantage. People now are also giving Georgia a pass on Alabama, because it's Alambana, and they played really hard. We thought OSU ended "the SEC is completely and totally superior to everyone" agenda in 2014. But it is back, stronger than ever.
If that were to happen, the rest of the country would march against that State, General Sherman style. I just can't see that happening. No matter how bad the biased media wants it too.
Georgia shit the bed as only Georgia can do. Won the turnover battle. Won the total offense battle. Time of possession. Beat them in all the important metrics. And still found a way to piss it away. That's Georgia in a nutshell. Has been for years.
And let me say this...Oklahoma did nothing to show they are clearly better than we are. They weren't dominant. They escaped today. We are playing better football than they are. Period.
I think it'll be difficult to keep UGA in the Top 4 based on resume. They have a pair of wins over 3-loss teams, and a win over an 8-4 team (Mizzou), then it's a couple of mediocre at best 7-5 teams.
One good half against Bama shouldn't put them in the playoff, other wise Citadel deserves a shot, too.
UGA's last score was with 12:39 remaining in the Third quarter. From that point on, Bama beat them 21-0. UGA tallied a total of 173 yards after that TD, and nothing but a missed FG to show for it. During that same time, their defense got one INT and one third down stop, while Bama ripped off three TDs.
Bama's comeback was great, but UGA enabled it by playing poorly down the stretch and by completely botching a fake punt at the 50-yard line with the game tied and two minutes left.
One good half against Bama shouldn't put them in the playoff, other wise Citadel deserves a shot, too.
That's a mic drop line, there, Navy.
**This space to be filled with an inspirational quote from a famous Buckeye**
Bama is not unequivocally better than everyone else, so a loss to them shouldn’t be valued as a win. That’s a joke for the talking heads who feel that way.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
Agreed. That would be giving Michigan a win for playing ND to within a TD.
If OSU doesn’t make the playoff, I would rather see them take on UGA than play UW in the Rose Bowl. This whole thing was supposed to give us the best matchups. Now we’re likely to see Michigan go shit the bed against Georgia, to further enable the SEC narrative.
Herbstreit really pissed me off with his Georgia should be number 3 bull crap...So basically what he is saying is as long as you are an SEC team u can play Austin P, Middle Tenn state and UMASS OOC, beat up on your weak division, get blown out in a game vs your second best opponent, have 2 losses and not win your conference, but because you played Bama close (albeit blew a double digit lead) you are one of the 4 best teams an UNEQUIVOCALLY better than two one-loss conference champs
To be fair we should beat up our weak opponents on our schedule too. I think Purdue is better than their record, they had games early they could have won but blew it. Getting blown own by them hurts however. I don’t think Georgia should be though.
“Megadeth >>> Metallica” - Alum 2019. I couldn’t agree more.
I agree that getting blown out by Purdue should hurt us as compared to OU, but not UGA
Georgia is out. It’s between Oklahoma and OSU getting the final spot and my money is on Oklahoma. I don’t think we made a big enough statement last night to get in over them or Notre Dame in the committees eye. I’d knock Notre Dame out personally along with Georgia.
+1, At least 2 games Elks, both from personal foul penalties. I still say Purdue will be a major force in the next year or 2 in the West Division.
Herbstreit realized there was a conflict of interest between his love of OSU and his huge stake at ESPN. He moved to TN and chose ESPN and continues to try and reinforce his decision constantly. I feel for him to some degree, but man, you reap what you sow. I used to look up that guy.
You all ought to try living in this God forsaken State! It blows my mind as to how many people in here think it should be an all SEC playoff, that no other conferences even compare to SuC. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't we beat the last Sec team we faced? In a playoff game? If I could move out of this state I would. Tied of these idiots claiming they are the best when all they do is beat themselves up all year long and the rest of the lower division teams.
"If you take no risks, you will suffer no defeats, But if you take no risks, you will earn no victories."
Playoff started yesterday in my mind. UGA got a shot at Bama on a neutral site, in their home state, an hour's drive away. They should have won, but blew a two score lead to a back up QB, again.
At some point you have to value wins, just as much as you value losses. I thought Kirbys presser after was more a reflection of his disappointment in having the game in hand, again, and letting it slip away, with a bone headed punt fake call which gave Bama the win. Unfortunately, as bad as he wants it, that doesn't mean you get a redo.
I thought Kirbt came off looking desperate at that presser. I live in ATL and am really looking forward to the Monday talk radio - he is going to get hammered.
Most people are falling right into the ESPN trap. They are pushing a narrative that is both short term tactical and long term strategic.
If they push for 2 loss Georgia to get in, it drives clicks and a lot of them, especially if it is successful. Those who support conference champions will be up in arms and will go to great length to berate ESPN. Either way it’s a win for them. More clicks.
Long-term it’s a huge boost to ESPN if in fact Georgia does get it. There will continue to be great tumult in the college football world with a huge, perhaps irresistible, call for a 6 or 8 game playoff. This is what ESPN really wants, another week of a highly lucrative college football season.
From the point of view of having a legitimate championship, it makes zero sense to have a 2 loss, non-conference winner in the championship, but Georgia is their means to the desired end.
Send the Earth Reverberating
+1Buck298, I’ve decided to follow my own agenda, if Jawja gets in, I’ll be done with this nonsense for good. Im already NFL free and I can be NCAA free.
Georgia is not getting in. There is no chance whatsoever.
So why worry about it?
Exactly. It’s not happening
I am with him. Georgia is not getting in. No way
"I approve this message...."
Well said laddie...
Neil Armstrong lied to me...
...and Kirby Smart needs to SHUTUP!
You are a 2 loss non-conf champ. You dont have to go home but you gots to get out of here.
F ND BS
play in a conference and win the conference championship game since they should be considered the first round of the CFP.
F ND BS
If UGA still gets in as well as ND, that would leave 3 conference champions out. Could you imagine the backlash from the media and those conference officials?
This is pretty much it. Oklahoma would understandably blow a gasket. Here's the real question: if this were the regular season, given this week's results, would Georgia stay ahead of Oklahoma in the standings? No fucking way. Shouldn't be different now.
Exactly. No team should be rewarded for losing the last game of the season. Just like no team should be rewarded for sitting out Championship week.
Purdue 30 points
Miss America Beauty Pageant beats true competition eh? Because that's what this is.
No it’s reality. It comes from people who’s favorite team is not in it. That’s why OSU fans are the worst. I am a huge one. You know what all my Michigan and MSU fans say.I can talk to you. You will listen. Most OSU wont ever acknowledge that OSU is not perfect. You can’t have a discussion with people who refuse to listen objectively on a matter. On this board it’s the same. Meyer is better than everyone, Saban is a cheater with bagmen( they probably are but haven’t been caught OSU needs to take some lessons) , refs are against OSU, refs are against team OSU wants to lose, Bama academics are lax, ESPN has a personal vendetta against OSU, OSU schedules better than anyone, Bama won’t come north in the cold, there are holding every play on OSU while other team gets away with it,Herbstreet hates them, Trump hates them, no one will play OSU, the other players suck only OSU players are good,OSU leads nation in big plays givin up because Refs have a SEC biased. It sounds so childish. Losing to Purdue by 30 is terrible. If Bama lost to Vanderbilt by 15 this fan base would say that Bama is over rated as is SEC. Bama beats one of the best teams and nation and people on this site complain about it. People on this site used to destroy Urban Meyer call him names till he becomes your head coach. World peace will happen before fans on this site will admit OSU is not an elite team this year. After Oklahoma gets in it will be boycotting this bowl and that bowl and favoritism here and there. I love watching the buckeyes but part of me wants to see Georgia and OSU so the SEC second string team can play and show fans how good they actually are.
The is the problem with network interests involved n the selection conversation. Committee doesn’t do tv interviews with anyone but espn and to think there is no influence there is naive. Take the committee out of it and go to six teams. Five conference champs and then let the committee select one team and that is they get to do.
Notre Dame should not get in. TCU/Baylor
Committee relies on "HYPE". They will spin their choices to their advantage.
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
And on another note, does a team that blew a lead and lost to one of the best teams in the nation really deserve to get in the playoffs? Who's to say that they won't do that again in an actual playoff game. Georgia really should not get in
That's a Buckeye touchdown!
Georgia ain’t in
