Thanks to a big win over Maryland and an smörgåsbord of upsets among top-ranked teams, the Buckeyes rose to No. 15 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll.
Although Alabama dethroned Florida State for one week, the Seminoles have begun their second reign as the unanimous No. 1 after No. 3/4 Ole Miss upset the Crimson Tide. Amusingly, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are tied for No. 3 in the AP Poll.
Following Wisconsin's baffling loss to Northwestern, the Big Ten is down to three ranked teams. Michigan State is still the Big Ten's highest ranked team at No. 8 in both polls, and Nebraska only took a small nudge to No. 21 for losing to the Spartans. Yet again the pollsters refused to consider Michigan, the best four-loss team in the country.
Upsets did nothing to diminish the southward tilt of the polls, as the SEC landed at least four top-10 teams in both polls. Same storyline, different day.
