I'm not normally a superstitious guy... except when it comes to Ohio State.
In 2006, before the Penn State game, I bought this necklace at the Central Classroom bookstore right near the Shoe.
It's a nice, non-offensive, mass market version of what some other people wear. Nothing near what Big Nut or some of those guys wear, but nice nonetheless.
I wore these all season. That is, until the Buckeyes were destroyed by Florida.
In 2007, I essentially exiled this necklace (along with my #25 Pittman jersey) and didn't really wear them during the season. Except when I went to a tailgate party in early November and a NCG party... both losses (Illinois and LSU respectively).
Since that time, this necklace has hung in various areas of my house. Usually in my office near other OSU memorabilia. That was, until I moved to Indiana. Over the last 13 months, this necklace was apparently in a box in my garage. While clearing out the ol' garage yesterday, I stumbled across this necklace in a dusty box and put it on. I wore it for most of the day because I'm excited for the season to start.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Now, I'm not blaming an unlucky necklace for a series of unfortunate events. But it is a coincidence, and one that my wife pointed out to me tonight at dinner. So basically, I need to take this necklace to a priest. Or burn it. Or something.
That is my story. I thought this would be the best place to share it.
