Blogpoll Ballot: Week 14

By Alex Gleitman on November 28, 2011 at 11:01a

It's Championship Week. Have at it with the 11W Week 14 BlogPoll Ballot:

The Tigers completed a perfect regular season at 12-0 with a 41-17 win over Arkansas in Baton Rouge. LSU now takes on Georgia and with a win, will go to the MNC game in it’s backyard in New Orleans. The last time Les Miles won a championship? 2007 in New Orleans…just sayin’. --
Alabama is sitting in the clubhouse and looking great. The Tide dominated rival Auburn 42-14 in the Iron Bowl and sits at 11-1 to finish their regular season. At #2 in the BCS, it’s looking like we may see a rematch of Alabama-LSU in the title game. --
Virginia Tech is a team I’ve been high on for a while and they move to #3 in my poll after advancing to 11-1 with a 38-0 win over rival Virginia. VaTech takes on Clemson in the ACC title game next, hoping to avenge their only loss of the season and make it to the BCS yet again. 1
Stanford jumped out to a 21-0 lead over Notre Dame and coasted the rest of the way to defeat the Irish 28-14 in Paolo Alto. A loss to Oregon a few weeks back keeps the Cardinal out of the Pac 12 Championship, meaning a trip to New Orleans is likely out of the picture. 1
In a match-up of two 7-0 teams in Conference USA, Houston prevailed over Tulsa by a score of 48-16. The Cougars, now a perfect 12-0, need to just win the Conference USA title game to be eligible for a BCS at-large selection. 1
Oklahoma State may have the best chance to make the title game according to the BCS Standings, but we reserve the right to move them up until they beat in-state rival Oklahoma this week. The Cowboys can wrap-up the conference crown with a win against the Sooners and make their first BCS game appearance. 1
Boise State is hoping that Houston falters, as they are sitting pretty, but are no lock for an at-large bid to the BCS. The Broncos improved to 10-1 with a 36-14 win over Wyoming, but like Stanford, won’t get to take the conference title as they lost to TCU earlier in the season. 1
With a 26-6 win over Iowa State, OU moved one game closer to making another BCS appearance. All that stands in their way is a victory over a tough Oklahoma State team. Will Bob Stoops and the boys pull it together this weekend? Should be exciting to watch this defacto Big 12 Championship contest.  1
After losing their first two games of the year, Georgia has stormed back to win 10 straight, including this weekend’s 31-17 win over Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs have their toughest game of the year in LSU on Saturday, but playing in the Georgia Dome has to give Mark Richt’s team a much needed home field advantage. 1
The Civil War wasn’t much of a war, as Oregon throttled Oregon State 49-21. The Ducks clinch a spot in the first Pac 10 title game where they will face UCLA (USC not eligible) to wrap-up a Rose Bowl birth. 1

Arkansas hung in for a while, but LSU’s stout defense took control in a 41-17 loss in “Death Valley”.  At 10-2 the Razorbacks are likely headed for the Capital One or Outback Bowl against a Big Ten team, as the BCS has a rule that only two teams from a conference can play in their five games. 8
Sparty took down Northwestern 31-17 a week before the B1G title game in Indy. Ahead waits a Wisconsin team that will be hungry to avenge an early season loss in East Lansing this year. --
Wisconsin made a statement in a 45-7 win over Penn State in what was a Leaders Division title match-up. Wisco has MSU on it’s radar next, as it tries to make a second consecutive trip to Pasadena. --
South Carolina finished up a nice season, all things considered, with a 34-13 win over rival Clemson. The Gamecocks finished 2011 with a 10-2 record, making it five teams with double digit wins in the SEC. --
Kansas State was idle this past week and will finish up with Iowa State this week to try and move to 10-2 on the season.  --
Enough said here as Michigan finally broke the seven game drought against the Buckeyes. At 10-2, the Wolverines have an outside shot to be invited to a BCS game, as they travel well and draw good TV.  1
Baylor moved to 8-3 with a 66-42 win over Texas Tech. The Bears take on Texas at home this weekend, but it is unknown if Robert Griffin III will play, as he suffered a concussion in the first half last weekend. 2
Nebraska finished it’s first year in the Big Ten strong, with a 20-7 win over Iowa to finish the season at 9-3. The Cornhuskers are in line for a January 2 bowl in Florida as things stand today. 2
TCU was idle this week, and takes on UNLV this coming weekend. They have wrapped up the MWC already with a 6-0 record and a head to head win over Boise State. Up next, the Big 12. 2
Clemson played it’s second meaningless game in a row, falling to South Carolina 34-13. The Tigers had more important things on their minds, trying to stay healthy for the ACC title game against Va Tech. 2
Penn State got waxed 45-7 in Madison, but still overachieved this year with a 9-3 mark. Nebraska, Michigan, MSU, and Wisconsin are all ahead of them, but they can still end up in a January 2 bowl if the B1G gets two BCS teams. 5
West Virginia had an epic comeback, down two scores in a 21-20 win at home against rival Pitt in the Backyard Brawl. West Virginia and Cincinnati are battling it out for the Big East’s spot in the BCS. 2
Southern Miss moved to 10-2 on the year, with a 44-7 win over Memphis. The Eagles have their toughest contest of the season coming up, the conference title game against undefeated Houston. --
Florida State controlled things the whole way against rival Florida, winning 21-7 against the Gators in Gainesville. The Seminoles are now 8-4 in the season, salvaging what was once a 2-3 season. --
Notre Dame came out uninspired, falling behind Stanford 21-0 at the half, before outscoring the Cardinal 14-7 in the second half, in what was a too little too late effort. ND falls to 8-4 on the year, another disappointing season for the once elite program. 3
