Todd Boeckman was from St. Henry as well. I remember Bryan Gray, a reserve offensive lineman, was from Antwerp (which is in my neck of the woods) along with Daniel Dye who was a lineman on the 06 team from Napoleon.
If I had the time today, I'd go back through all the rosters on the OSU website to find out some others that were on the team throughout the years. It's pretty interesting to see that some guys got to play for the best team in the state that came from tiny schools, not just the Glenvilles and St. X's of the world.
Randall graduated from my hometown high school just three years before I did. It still doesn't seem real that his life could be taken so senselessly and that his wife and three little girls could lose the man of their lives like this.
I assure ISIS and the rest of the world that one of our own may have been taken but the endless photos of business signs, half-staff flags and constant outpourings of support in his hometown and across the country that I see minute by minute let me know that he'll never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Randall and know that your country mourns you and your fellow servicemens' sacrifices.
It's not necessarily a promotion to the 11 pm SC, he's going it solo at midnight and it's going to be apparently way different than just the normal SC setup. September 7 I think is the first day
SVP is originally from the Baltimore area and apparently that's how they pronounce O words for real. I think they got him to laugh once a long time ago and it became a tradition when he came on on Mondays to finish their segment with him with an O word like Joe Flacco or Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano XD
Now when it comes to the promotion part, I do agree with you. Van Pelt even said on a podcast recently that he wished ESPN would've given them the support they gave other shows. You're not wrong there. They buried it on ESPNEWS and don't televise the last hour and a half while they blow up stuff for MM and Cowherd. What a shame....
Idk that it's ESPN's fault necessarily. SVP even said himself he wouldn't have left radio for anything except something like that. Howeva, the Video Mailbags will be sorely missed
Good for you Chicago! Keith and Toews and Sharp and Kane and all those guys are one hell of a team. One of these days, my Blue Jackets are going to get a playoff series win.....
As a Cleveland fan, I'd love it if Steph had 0 points and the Cavs won the series. But you're totally right. Ever since the end of the Shaq/Kobe Lakers dynasty, there's been a whole lot of snoozefests in the Finals. (But man, that 2013 Miami-SA 7-gamer was intense). I totally understand the frustration especially when this is the most talented Cleveland team to contend for a championship maybe ever if they're fully healthy. But it will happen. Someday....
You took the words right out of my mouth! I'd upvote but I'm currently HS-deficient.
Am I the only Cavs fan that doesn't hate this guy? Seriously people get over yourselves.
"I hate him because he's arrogant" "I hate him because he acts high-and-mighty" "I hate him because he chews on his mouthpiece"
The dude is one of the better shooters this league has seen maybe ever and people can't actually enjoy a series that puts the best of the best in the NBA against one another. Sure I hated it when he went en fuego in the fourth and destroyed us. But that doesn't mean he's some bum or didn't deserve the MVP. If you guys don't like a Pistons fan calling the Steph hate pathetic, then fine. I will. Grow up and quit acting like any kind of arrogance you perceive doesn't exist on 75% of the players in the league.
I like the move of putting Tristan in the starting lineup. His tenacity and crazy-good rebounding are a catalyst for so much on this team. If someone can explain to me why LeBron just won't drive to the hoop when he's getting space, that would be awesome.
I think it's got to be Cleveland and Golden State in the Finals. Nobody in the East can stop the Cavs when they're on (though I think it'll go 7 with Atlanta in the ECF). Golden State is for real and I think it'll be a classic with San Antonio in the WCF. Although, if the Clips can play like they're capable of and take advantage of Splitter being injured, I think LA could top them in the first round.
My pick: Cleveland over the Splash Brothers in 7 games
Sterling Archer approves.
How is a team with the size of Kentucky this bad at defensive rebounding? They're talented as hell but good lord, Wisconsin is getting every loose ball
Anytime. I guess if you'd prefer a Wisconsin homercast, TruTV is always there for you haha
Then turn it to TBS. SMH.
What channel are you watching the game on?
Sam Dekker came to play! I'd be a much bigger fan of his if his lady friend didn't have a certain predilection towards a "university" of which we do not speak.
I've got a real good feeling about this game. I think we're looking at one that goes right down to the wire.
Although now that I've said that, I'm sure it'll end up as a blowout
Man, if only I had gotten to this one sooner before it swelled to 613 comments......
Anyway, I'm a 2014 graduate of a small Division III college with a degree in sports management and a year under my belt as a full-time sportswriter for a small newspaper here in the great state of Ohio.
I disagree. Each one of his steps in coaching has been an upwards move. He got his first head coaching job at San Diego, gave them great success and took an obvious step up to the Stanford job. He gave them great success too and got the Niners job. I understand he was only at each of those jobs 3-4 seasons but jeez, it would've been stupid for him not to take the opportunity.
Herbie's haters would rather see him be a huge Buckeye fan on the air than see him actually do his job well. Herbie being really damn good at his job looks a lot better for the university than Herbie being a shameless homer on the air
This. This right here. This site rails against ESPN and uses all the worn-out 'E-SEC-PN' bias quotes but if Herbstreit would just go off the rails and say dumbass homer things about OSU, we'd love it? GTFOH with that nonsense. You can't have it both ways. It does nobody, especially OSU fans and the university itself, any good if Herbstreit is a homer. Honestly, he's the best CFB color guy they have and a lot of that is because of him being impartial and seeing the whole picture.
The only reason I end up listening to Cowherd is because the other sports radio station I get transitioned from Fox Sports to ESPN Radio a few months back. To be fair, other than Dan Patrick in the morning, Cowherd's braying is a million times more tolerable then the morons FSR has on (ahem Petros Papadakis). That being said, if I have to hear one more social commentary on the Rust Belt and how he understands the world we live in on such a deeper level, I may jump off a bridge. SVP and Russillo by far have the best commentary on college football, the best guests and the least bias of any commentators. They will talk about the SEC more than other conferences but because the conference is good, not because they have some agenda to push.
