I was 10 when it happened. I was probably at my grandparents house when it came out on the news. That period of time was probably a time when my whole family was the closest it's ever been and the whole family spent a lot of time at my grandparents house. My uncle, the youngest of five boys, was in the army in Vietnam. My childhood friends oldest brother, a marine, was also in Vietnam. I remember my grandmother and my friends mother cried a lot then. I remember everybody waiting for the next letter to come. I remember my uncle trying to comfort my grandmother in those letters by saying not to worry he was gonna be ok. I remember not getting a letter for an extended period of time then learning he was ok but had got hit with shrapnel then had malaria. My uncle made it back home eventually, my friends brother did not. I'll never forget the day my friends, my brother and I were playing in our friends front yard when a car slowly came down the gravel road we lived on in the country. It was an unfamiliar car with something on the door I believe. It pulled into their driveway and we could see there were two military men inside. They got out and my friend new what they were there for saying he thought maybe we should go home for a while. Their brother wasn't coming home. Horrible day. For those of you who lost loved ones because of that war, home or abroad, sorry for your loss. For those of you that served, thank you for your service.
After working for Ronald for three days, Kroger for twelve years, then college for one year (electrical engineering ), I found a better gig being a Professional Tourist retiring after 28 years. Now I work with numbers trying to predict the future every Tuesday/Wednesday and Friday/Saturday. Yeah, I'm an old fart but watching the '68 Super Soph's win it all sure was sweet! Been hooked ever since! Go Bucks!
Watched CJ throw some balls to Jalin Marshall before Friday Night Lights started, without shoes on, standing on the north 20 yard line while Jalin was on the south 20 yard line. He was standing flat footed with both feet on the 20 when he threw the ball and Jalin never moved except to raise his hands to catch the ball just above his head. I thought that was impressive! Seems like yesterday, this season has gone by fast! Go Bucks!
First of all, everyone can't win out ( ASU/Oregon, MSU/Alabama). I think conference Champion, head to head, and common opponents will be a factor when it's all said and done. The Selection Committee website states this. We've already seen bye weeks make a difference and the Big 12 basically has a "bye" when every other conference plays their championship game. Baylor will be the Big 12 champion. If the higher ranked teams all win out (Baylor included) then we are competing against the Big 12 for that fourth spot. We need to have a better win against the Gophers than TCU. I think TCU being ranked ahead of Baylor creates too much controversy for the integrity (if they have any) of the Selection Committee and it will hurt the Big 12 in the end. If the Bucks keep looking good and get that 12th win, it might be easier to "justify" jumping the Big 12. Root for the Huskers, win out, look good doing it, and I think we have a good shot at making it. Go Bucks!
Wondering the same thing about my son! 12 yrs old, 6'1" and 165lbs. just starting 6th grade. He's been playing basketball since 1st grade but I haven't let him start football yet because of the weight restrictions. Great article, wish the best for this kid and hope to see him in scarlet & gray! Go Bucks!
Wish Manti would have won the Heisman! The new Nissan Heisman house commercial would have been a classic!
Go Bucks! O-H
