This. How many schools can claim to be in the football national title hunt until december, while also having a mens bball team in the top 3. The answer is ZERO. We're in a golden age of ohio state athletics. Can't wait to brag to my kids about how I was a student during this time.
That's just wrong. Overhyped teams don't win 24 games in a row. Period.
Predictable play calling. I get that running the ball is our bread and butter, but showe some creativity! Kept hoping for a speed option, or a trick play, or really anything that we hadn't already seen a dozen times in the game
Any shot at bama?
Reading this is just reaffirming a belief I've held all season. The B1G is vaulting back into national prominence. Michgan st will continue to be a good team. Penn state will be a good team once their sanctions are up. Purdue hired the right coach to bring them to relevancy. Northwestern will continue to be a factor. Wiscy will always be a upper middle range team. Even Minnesotas having a resurgence of sorts. And I have a feeling that Michigan is gonna turn the ship around too. Im sick of being disappointed with anything but a blowout win. I want the buckeyes to be tested week in and week out. If we beat a team by a touchdown, I want to be able to revel in victory, not worry about impressing voters. Having a strong big ten is the first step. #B1Gsolidarity
Edit: tl;dr watching the buckeyes is more fun when we play good teams. This week is fun.
I see it differently. Seems this girl might be a tough nut to crack. She wasn't impressed by the fact that he's a football player? Fair enough. Forget about her. Focus on the task at hand. Don't text her until January 8th. Maybe she'll be impressed by the fact that he's a football player with a ring.
Protip with NCAA: If you run four verticals, the inside slot receiver on the right side runs a post. If you throw it right as he makes the cut, he is open every single time. I used to play alot freshman year...braxton miller won four straight heismans as well as every game for all four years of college.
BTW: If herman takes a head coaching job next season, I will be applying for the OC position. You've seen tresselball, wait till you see "pconball"
hard to not like where this team is headed after arguably the toughest stretch of the season behind us. What my question for the 11w community is, how does OSU stack up with the rest of the country (namely, Bama)? Obviously our offense is top-class. But when I look to the defense, I see a lot of players who are developing, and who will need to continue to improve for us to beat the likes of Alabama. This question is aimed at the more well-rounded CFB fan; is the whole development argument true for the likes of Bama? What I mean is, when you read 11W, our fans are always looking to nitpick, which is only natural. But I've stayed mostly out of the national press, because frankly, most of it's not great, and we've been spoiled by 11W's outstanding coverage.
tl;dr The buckeyes are, in my mind, a team that is still a work in progress. Is that the case for the likes of Alabama?
When the band was practicing on Friday, the line went "have your wolverine FANS spayed or neutered." guess they cleaned it up a little in the proceeding 12 hours. Shame
chill dude. just pointing out the irony
don't want to down on the complimenting braxton parade, but it's hard to compliment a guy's humility when he's wearing a sweatshirt that features a hand pointing at himself saying "legend."
of course, i happen to agree with the sweatshirt, so it's all good by me.
Some people ask me if girls are interested in me and I tell them they were really interested before
A+ for this answer.
am i misguided in my thinking that in this song, "cat" refers not to an actual feline, but slang for a person? implying that this woman looked like frankenstein, which of course isn't a compliment. Love that old-timey slang
I actually would go for a write-in vote. The Penn State-OSU game this year kicked off at 5:30, and I thought that was the ideal time. Kickoff came right around dusk, and by halftime, it was nighttime. Thought it struck a good balance between the hype surrounding the whole day, the buildup, the drinking, etc. but didn't drag on too long. Maybe it's because I'm an old man before my time, but after a full day of hard tailgating, jumping around and yelling, I'm pretty beat by 11:30pm. If the game's still going on at that point, it's a little too late for me. Think the 5:30 slot should be used a little more.
agree completely. Arrest ≠ conviction. Most times when you get arrested, it means you were doing something wrong, but it is no guarantee. If you ever could get honest answers from people, there are probably alot more college aged kids who have been arrested than you realize. For so many of them it results in the case being thrown out, or something along those lines, but for a football player, it becomes headline news. It's a tough end of the stick for the players, but it comes with the territory I suppose.
If I got caught with weed in my mom's car, I think she might have a different reaction...
How cool of a moment must this be for the team? I'm sure they're used to the spotlight by now, but to have the leader of the free world, POTUS, watching your bball games, complementing your play, must be a pretty cool moment.
I've got two takeaways from this.
1. Why was Coombs going after an official in practice? I understand that they bring refs in for practice, which makes sense, but why do you need to berate a guy for a call he made in spring practice? It was either a pass interference or it wasn't. If the ref thought it was, then it was. Players need to work around that, and so do coaches. Then again, I'm a baseball umpire, and because of ref solidarity, i refuse to criticize refs.
2. This is a minor thing, and probably reflects how long it's been since I've been on 11W frequently, but nice touch with the pull-quote. Little formatting things like that are not unnoticed, and I think it ultimately makes the whole site seem more legit. Keep up the good work guys
I guess the senior bowl organizers have a good sense of what looks good on a jersey...
god i love that picture. Hope the game is going well, can't watch it unfortunately.
I can't help but draw a parrallel to the baseball hall of fame's character clause. To me, the Hall of Fame is about enshrining significant players. Whether they're significant for their talent, their exploits in big games, etc., it's hard to quantify it. There will always be snubs in some peoples' minds. What fun is a hall of fame if we can't argue over who should be in it?
that music was perfect. They should show the first part of that video to recruits man, it was perfect.
In my heart of hearts, I know there's a slim chance that OSU could hang with Bama. But oregon? That's a little closer, and I don't think that Oregon's season was that much more impressive than OSU's. To me, there is no reason, under the current system, that OSU shouldn't be ranked second.
really hope this ends up just being a load of hot air. I guess I haven't been around long enough, but I hold no type of ill-will towards penn state or their fans. I live in NJ, so many of my friends/neighbors are penn state alums/fans.
Basically, I think BOB is probably penn state's only chance at maintaining relevance over the next few years. Would be very hard to attract any type of good coach, especially after a good one just bolted after a year. I think college football (and the B1G, without question) is better when penn state is at least decent. Would be a shame if they went the SMU route
