Not sure who down voted you but didn't really pay attention or thought I would need to type in italics to make sure people knew I wasn't serious with a statement such as that one. I am a huge craft supporter he's just being exposed and his inept offense has been covered for 2 years all I was saying

it's called sarcasm - do you actually think I meant we could've really played it? learn to interpret what you're reading. and yes he didn't have to do much at the "1" with the team in 2010.

I really hope this doesn't turn into a year where people begin questioning Thad. It's basketball and these years happen. I told people before the season started we are over rated.  Starting with Craft, look at what he has been playing with for two years. Anyone of us could've prolly played the 1 with the team in 2010 and last year he still had Sully, WB, and DT to bail him out. He had these types of games but they were overshadowed by Sully and someone else leading to the W (and not having to do too much except game manage). Lenzelle is too inconsistent and can't create, Sam T hasn't developed a great shot yet, Ravenel can't do anything against quality comp and DT is trying to carry the load. Amir, Amir. Did play a decent game yesterday but he is the most confusing player I've seen. Expectations were high since he was a 5 star picking us over Duke. It looks like he needs someone to spit in his face to get mad to play. Very slow and too weak to play the position effectively right now. Scott has been really good. LQR just gets too lost on D and we know that if you can't play D consistently Thad will not play you. Especially against quality opponents. This team is great defensively and really athletic which may save us in most games. We shot 30% at Duke and v. Kansas and lost by a combined 13 pts. While I don't think this team has a very high ceiling, I'm not going to blame thad for much of it.

Another overlooked part I think is the BB IQ on this team. We lost Sully who KG said had the highest bb iq from a rookie he's ever seen and WB a seasoned vet. We have head scratching possessions and turnovers. We didn't have anyone coming in to overcome this and we are going to struggle. I mean even last year we were inconsistent shooting and struggled in the league for that one stretch. I count 11-12 toss up games (7 on the road) left on the schedule so I am anticipating a 5, 6, or 7 loss B1G campaign. We will be in trouble in the Dance with a team that can play some D and has a strong inside presence.  Here's to hoping Im wrong. Go Bucks!

With our momentum skyrocketing and Notre Dame's resurgence they will start to see serious struggles with recruiting. They could potentially be the third school in their own city for recruits.  Especially since B Kelly and Urban already has strong connections there and it's heavily catholic. I just don't see Tommy T being able to move them forward much. They couldn't fill their stadium for Rutgers or South Florida and I don't know how the university will justify expanding.

Good to know everyone feels the same way. I was really hoping that most people would remember how special that team and the last ten years have been. Although I can still see others causing a scene that day. At least the people on this site haven't lost their sanity.

I think we have to be extremely patient this year. Urban has come in and improved the program from day 1. He took a recruiting class that was outside the top 25 in most rankings and made it a top 5 class. He has been hit with the injury bug on defense and not to mention he has taken over a team that was 6-7 last year and really lacking any confidence at all.  Our offense is dramatically improved even with the inconsistencies. 21 drives of 70+ yards this season through 8 games v. 7 total last year. He is changing the culture of the entire program from the ground up.  We will have to get used to situations of 4th and go for its and trying to score at the end of halves.  He is setting the tone to the players that we are TOSU and we are here to kick your @ss. We have to take a step back and remember that this coaching staff is adjusting to new schemes offensively and defensively as well as working with each other for the first time.  This is the year to get the kinks out and the best thing for this season is for us to stay relevant on a national scale for recruiting purposes.  If we go 12-0 (knock on wood) that's all people will remember. Just like 02. People remember the ring and for the most part, not how we got there. Urban can walk in recruits homes and say look what I did year 1 at OSU this train will keep rolling. I for one get really frustrated when we look like this but I think we have to sit back and just win at all costs this year.  Today's win I think will do a lot for this team for the future. It was the gut check they needed w/o having to lose a game.  Defense did a good job stepping up today and hopefully keeps improving - Go bucks.

This is where the SEC keeps Joe Schad until they need him to come out and cover up any issues.

Does any one know what happened to Jordan Sibert?  The guy is by no means a great player off the bench but why does he not see any time at all?  He plays good defense and when he was in has shown the ability to shoot the ball well... a lot better than ST or SS.  All Sam T does is look out of place with the ball in his hands and look for a back screen oop.

I do think we need sullinger in his more natural position at PF.  Last year he was a force there with his big body and lauderdale held the paint.  I also think that Sully's weight loss has impacted his game in a seriously NEGATIVE way.  He no longer is able to impose his will inside and can't get rebounds with big bodies on him (see MSU, Wisky, IU, scUM).  Most athletes who lose the weight they so often used to their advantage have struggled. Look at Wisky RB PJ Hill - lost weight fell off the map and Ron Dayne.  Tractor Taylor did the same.  Beside that he has struggled at times and I think it's just a combination of this basketball team not being able to play with each other.  We turn the ball over too often in some games, go on too long of scoreless streaks, and have 0 bench contributions.  No one plays with intensity for a whole game besides Craft which is a same - Sully should be a vocal leader and lead with his play.  Instead, with a B1G title chance on the line he goes to the bench after "hurting" his ankle.  Someone needs to ask him the old football ques "are you hurt or injured?" He should have been out there willing us to victory. I think he misses the leadership of Diebs and Lighty who he prolly looked up to and kept his ego and "spoiled bratness" to a minimum.  Lenzelle said it in his radio interview that this team doesn't have the chemistry and it rears it's head too often at this point. It makes sense that we peaked early when people were over whelmed on some of our talent but they have now figured us out and we are not able to answer with our lack of chemistry and bball IQ.  The expectations for this team are Elite 8 absolute tops. I was holding out hope for a UCONN type run but I don't think we have equal talent to that team.  No offense out of your guard spots in the NCAA tourney means you will eventually lose.  On a positive thanks to William Buford for his play these last four years.  Frustrating at times but definitely a Buckeye great.

Yes I saw the graphic and I'm sure it was just an honest mistake by a huge television network.... Sarcasm .. I mean that's like cbs flashing a B1G logo during a football game. How deliberate and incompetent that network is is astounding. I am boycotting all games on ESPN and listening to Paul keels from now on.
Comment 18 Feb 2012

only positive thing i can think right now is that at about this same time last year UCONN went 4-7 at the end of the reg. season and well the rest is history.  thing is this team has the talent to do it.. will they? probably not but anything is possible in the tourney.  get hot,, some upsets happen and we'll see.  hopefully the B1G season has prepared us better for the tournament this time.

Comment 18 Feb 2012

it's not the equality factor its the fact that scUM had at least 6 calls go their way that shouldn't have and all you had to do was listen to Jay Bilas call them out each time.  The 3 charges in the first half were bogus our guys moving to avoid contact and Mi**igan defenders sliding to draw "charge", Sully not allowed to move in paint due to guys falling down everytime he backs down to the basket, craft getting mugged on a drive, thomas fouled three times before a foul called, and lenzelle called for traveling after a rebound and being taken out underneath.  You have to establish a pivot foot to travel and he wasn't able to for the guy under cutting him.  It's not always about how many fouls were called or who had more fouls.. usually how many fouls go uncalled is the real story... but with that said great teams don't go 8 minutes w/o fgs and find ways to win those games on the road by a couple (see UK @ Vandy).  good team just not as great as we've had

Yup a definite roy williams move is needed.  or just get a technical and go beserk

Comment 18 Feb 2012

Did any one see the SEC logo flash up before they showed the 1st half stats at halftime?  the incompetence of this network amazes me.  can we please lead a boycott?

i pointed out green because someone had said matta should've taken dt off of green but we have no one else with the size and quickness to guard him.  MSU was a matchup problem all around.

Comment 12 Feb 2012

the reason i pointed out green was bcuz someone said Matta should've taken dt off of him.  but we have no one else with the size and quickness that couldve guarded him.  he's just a mismatch for us.

Comment 11 Feb 2012

I think Matta is doing the best job he can at this point.  We are young, relatively inexperienced, and not deep enough with no true leaders.  We have good talent on the bench but they haven't adjusted to the college game and are either a liability on defense or offense.  MSU was a matchup nightmare for this team, experienced, great (big) inside play who could hold Sully, and capable guard play.  Who else could we have put on Green?  DT has the size he's just not a good enough defender to guard him.  You can't put Thompson on him, ravenel is too slow, amir is too slow, weatherspoon too small.  I do think we should try some different defensive sets.  I think our guys are getting worn down against physical teams playing man 40 minutes.  I also would have inserted Shannon Scott or someone to try to provide a spark on O.

The dismal shooting performance is why we lost the game but the bigger issue is the consistency with this team.  A senior leader should never follow up a career high in points with a 4 point dud in the biggest game of the season.  We are too inconsistent and do not have enough scoring threats to be in the same breath as Carolina, Kentucky, Syracuse or Missouri IMO.  Yes we blew Duke out but it was early in the season and we were on fire.  Plus they are a finesse team.. any team that has come with attitude and size this season has taken it to us.  Buford is lost on another planet, Thomas just struggles against good defensive teams, smith isn't good enough, and Sullinger has become too soft with the ball.    I love the guy but Sully has to mature a little bit.  I know he gets nothing called for him but what does he expect at this point?  nothing's changing so adjust - you can't barge the lane, do the same spin moves into traffic, or put the ball on the deck around guards who can swipe the ball.  Yes he gets beat to death but man up stop whining and complaining to officials and adjust your game.  I think his complaining is hurting him as well.  refs notice when a player does that and probably makes them reluctant to call fouls.  but yes they are god awful

This team is a matchup problem and cold shooting from a second round exit let alone sweet 16.  I hope I'm wrong because we have the talent to get to New Orleans but unless Buford and the rest (excluding Craft) become more consistent I'm afraid we are in for another disappointing March.

on a side note - agree on Dan Dakich is the best announcer on TV from great analysis and calling out Hightower and Valentine and I'm done watching games on ESecPn after that "broadcast" today.  Rather listen to Paul Keels.

Funny you mention this - i noticed it was off the other day too and called TW to see what was going on.  Of course she had no idea there was even a BTN on Demand and she said they have gotten rid of it.  Really hate time warner.
