The president of tOSU is well known for making a UC Irvine a bastion of PC Police. This is another example of him finding another sacrifice to the alter of PC. Waters was trying to reform the culture. The previous Band Director of 28 years knew this was going on the whole time. You can't reform a culture quickly when all your energy is being directed at creating the most unique and well known marching band shows. This doesn't condone the behavior of the band, however, the effort to oust the head without ousting the band members who perpetrated the bad behavior is questionable at best.

The average age of the Vietnam combat soldier was 19. Paul Hardcastle taught me this and I have never forgotten it.

That's a myth.

Myth: The common belief is the average age of an infantryman fighting in Vietnam was 19.

Fact: Assuming KIAs accurately represented age groups serving in Vietnam, the average age of an infantryman (MOS 11B) serving in Vietnam to be 19 years old is a myth, it is actually 22. None of the enlisted grades have an average age of less than 20.
