I think I'd prefer that the message was "don't do something bad to someone else because of how it will impact their life" rather than "don't do something bad to someone else because of how it will impact your life, e.g. losing it all". If the only way we convince young people to be good citizens is to scare them about what the impact will be on their life, we're missing the point.
The plastic sword message was me. Rutgers fan 10 rows in front of us had a sword with a flag on it and wouldn't stop waving it. After they made it 14-7 I knew I had to do something. Ushers took the sword and Bucks never looked back.
