Unfortunately, I tend to agree with the majority of this post. The team really doesn't seem to have any fun playing the game. I am not saying it doesn't matter to them, cause I am sure it does, but it sure doesn't look that way on TV.
I think these comments are pretty telling. I can't remember ever hearing anything like this from Thad before. This speaks to this current team that seems to lack any real emotion and it shows in the effort for certain players.
As successful as Thad has been, this program needs a kick in butt. There just seems to be something lacking the past couple seasons, and next year will be a very important year for Thad.
Side note, who is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the basketball team? There hasn't seemed to be anyone with the Buckeye program over the past 5-6 years that has developed physically?! Maybe it is just perception, but I look at other programs and they look like they have some grown men on their teams, and the Buckeyes look like a bunch of kids that haven't developed into their bodies.
Trying to stay positive with this team is difficult. Even reading Shannon and Sam's comments, makes me feel like this team just lacks any type of fire and emotion. I feel like Amir and Loving are energy drainers and to a lesser extent the same feeling with Shannon. This has been one of the more frustrating teams to watch...which is probably why they will shock us all and make a deep run. Go Bucks!
Everyone on the team seems to be in the right frame of mine. I am having a really hard time seeing a win here. Our offensive line has really struggled against good defensive fronts and this is going to be the best we have faced to date. Once that line starts to struggle, Herman goes into a shell (and maybe rightly so) and we become ultra-conservative and predictable. I would really like to see us try and stretch the field early.
Also, on 3rd/4th and 1 - I wouldn't mind seeing Cardale get under center and push forward for a yard. I think there are situations we can use him, not just in mop up duty.
Good win last night...anytime you beat someone by 40 points there isn't much to complain about.
Starting to get a little concernced with the way Craft is playing...Scott seems to be playing at a much higher level and I think we have to be pretty encourage by that. Hopefully, Craft's offense starts to click a little, maybe more from a drive and dish versus the three ball...his stroke just doesn't look natural.
Thomas and Ross just seem so smooth and can up 10-12 points without really noticing.
I am still looking for more from our bigs, but Rav had a nice game last night and Amir seemed to be a bit more agressive...really wish he would be stronger with the ball.
Really excited for when Kansas comes to town!
I would love to see the Buckeyes go small for a couple streches tonight... Craft, Scott, Smith Jr., Ross/Thompson, and Thomas...and just get out and run, and maybe pick up full court. Start giving the BIG something to think about as conference play starts to roll around.
I was in favor of Ross starting this season, but I am starting to think him coming off the bench is getting 30 minutes might be better, kind of a Dion Waters type.
Agreed, he just seems way to passive out on the floor. He also doesn't seem to have very good hands or at least not very strong hands. If he could add a mean streak, not sure if you can really gain that if you don't have it, he could be a force.
I was at the game, and they were pointed out to me. His family was decked out in OSU gear, but he was wearing a white and blue hat with a maroon pullover. Somewhat strange, and some folks were wondering if he is contractually obligated to not wear specific school gear...who know?
The final line was 5.5 and 6 on some sites, so the conspiracy theories started flying around when that happend.
I will be at the game tonight, crossing Cameron Indoor Stadium off of the sports bucket list! The rational bball fan in me feels like this game matches up well for the Buckeyes except for in the post, but I just have this gut feeling that Duke wins tonight. Obviously, I hope I am wrong and I think the Craft will have a great game. I think it all comes down to Thomas coming out of the gate hot, if he struggles it could be a long game.
I have Directv and have Time Warner for Internet only, and they don't allow you to stream ESPN 3 without their cable package.
Does anyone know any other way to stream the game if you have this problem?
Just got home from the game, and it was easily 75% Buckeye fans. There were multiple times we had the O-H-I-O chant and various others going. The O-H-I-O chant got so loud a couple times that South Carolina would try and drown it out with some Gamecock noise over the PA System.
This was absolutely a home game for Ohio State, never seen anything like it! Great turn out by Buckeye Nation, and it was fun watching D. Thomas go off!
I agree 100% with Tommy. I can't tell if DJ is joking when he writes some of this stuff or if he really is just not very informed with what is going on with the Buckeyes and College Football in general.
Absolutely love this site, but I cringe when I see DJ's name associated with a new post. Not trying to be rude, but damn!
Don't let Denny see this comment! Stick to the topic at hand..AT ALL TIMES!
ahhhhh right cheek sneak!
