I have a hard time seeing this team beat Arizona. However, crazy things happen in March all the time. How many great Buckeye teams have we seen get knocked out of the tournament by less talented teams. Maybe Ohio State flips the script this year and makes a deep run with what we all agree is an underachieving group so far.
Unfortunately, I tend to agree with the majority of this post. The team really doesn't seem to have any fun playing the game. I am not saying it doesn't matter to them, cause I am sure it does, but it sure doesn't look that way on TV.
I think these comments are pretty telling. I can't remember ever hearing anything like this from Thad before. This speaks to this current team that seems to lack any real emotion and it shows in the effort for certain players.
As successful as Thad has been, this program needs a kick in butt. There just seems to be something lacking the past couple seasons, and next year will be a very important year for Thad.
Side note, who is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the basketball team? There hasn't seemed to be anyone with the Buckeye program over the past 5-6 years that has developed physically?! Maybe it is just perception, but I look at other programs and they look like they have some grown men on their teams, and the Buckeyes look like a bunch of kids that haven't developed into their bodies.
Trying to stay positive with this team is difficult. Even reading Shannon and Sam's comments, makes me feel like this team just lacks any type of fire and emotion. I feel like Amir and Loving are energy drainers and to a lesser extent the same feeling with Shannon. This has been one of the more frustrating teams to watch...which is probably why they will shock us all and make a deep run. Go Bucks!
I put little to no confidence and I hope I am proved horribly wrong. Just watching our offensive line against any defensive front that has a pulse makes me think we could be in for a long night Saturday. If the defense can continue to improve and cause a couple turnovers or provide great field position, we have a punchers chance.
I really want to see us come out aggressive taking shots down the field. We have to get their back 7 thinking about something other than the run.
Ugh, as I type this, I think I have little to no confidence in Tom Herman.
Everyone on the team seems to be in the right frame of mine. I am having a really hard time seeing a win here. Our offensive line has really struggled against good defensive fronts and this is going to be the best we have faced to date. Once that line starts to struggle, Herman goes into a shell (and maybe rightly so) and we become ultra-conservative and predictable. I would really like to see us try and stretch the field early.
Also, on 3rd/4th and 1 - I wouldn't mind seeing Cardale get under center and push forward for a yard. I think there are situations we can use him, not just in mop up duty.
Is Hubbard a 3 star? I thought he was a 5 star on Scout and pretty highly rated on other sites as well?
Still have some nervous feelings for this game, but I think with the low temps it is going to play into our favor even more. Trying to tackle Hyde behind our great O-Line is tough enough, try doing it 25-30 times when it is 30 degrees outside. If we don't turn the ball over, I don't see how we lose to this team. Go Bucks!
I mean really? What is he supposed to say? I am actually a little surprised that the line continues to jump...lots of money being laid on the Buckeyes.
I really want to see Hyde break their will in the 2nd half. Would love to see him carry the ball 30 times against them...then again it would be great to have our starters rest and watch Kenny G and Zeke do some work as well.
Shazier is an absolute stud. Would love to see him come back with the the Dline that is returning, but it won't happen. Hopefully he puts on another show against scUM this weekend.
Good win last night...anytime you beat someone by 40 points there isn't much to complain about.
Starting to get a little concernced with the way Craft is playing...Scott seems to be playing at a much higher level and I think we have to be pretty encourage by that. Hopefully, Craft's offense starts to click a little, maybe more from a drive and dish versus the three ball...his stroke just doesn't look natural.
Thomas and Ross just seem so smooth and can up 10-12 points without really noticing.
I am still looking for more from our bigs, but Rav had a nice game last night and Amir seemed to be a bit more agressive...really wish he would be stronger with the ball.
Really excited for when Kansas comes to town!
I would love to see the Buckeyes go small for a couple streches tonight... Craft, Scott, Smith Jr., Ross/Thompson, and Thomas...and just get out and run, and maybe pick up full court. Start giving the BIG something to think about as conference play starts to roll around.
I was in favor of Ross starting this season, but I am starting to think him coming off the bench is getting 30 minutes might be better, kind of a Dion Waters type.
Agreed, he just seems way to passive out on the floor. He also doesn't seem to have very good hands or at least not very strong hands. If he could add a mean streak, not sure if you can really gain that if you don't have it, he could be a force.
I was at the game, and they were pointed out to me. His family was decked out in OSU gear, but he was wearing a white and blue hat with a maroon pullover. Somewhat strange, and some folks were wondering if he is contractually obligated to not wear specific school gear...who know?
The final line was 5.5 and 6 on some sites, so the conspiracy theories started flying around when that happend.
I will be at the game tonight, crossing Cameron Indoor Stadium off of the sports bucket list! The rational bball fan in me feels like this game matches up well for the Buckeyes except for in the post, but I just have this gut feeling that Duke wins tonight. Obviously, I hope I am wrong and I think the Craft will have a great game. I think it all comes down to Thomas coming out of the gate hot, if he struggles it could be a long game.
I have Directv and have Time Warner for Internet only, and they don't allow you to stream ESPN 3 without their cable package.
Does anyone know any other way to stream the game if you have this problem?
Just got home from the game, and it was easily 75% Buckeye fans. There were multiple times we had the O-H-I-O chant and various others going. The O-H-I-O chant got so loud a couple times that South Carolina would try and drown it out with some Gamecock noise over the PA System.
This was absolutely a home game for Ohio State, never seen anything like it! Great turn out by Buckeye Nation, and it was fun watching D. Thomas go off!
I expect to see a healthy dose of Jordan Hall catching screen passes. Our O-Line looks suspect again, and I am not sold on Carlos Hyde like others are. I would really like to see us come out firing looking like a team that has come to town and knock out the Hurricanes early. Forcing Jacory Harris into passing situations is when he starts to force things, and I would be surprised if we can get a pick 6 tomorrow night.
As bad as last weeks game was, I think it was ultimately be a positive for this team moving forward. I really believe if the Bucks can go on the road and beat Miami, there is a great shot we are 5-0 going to Lincoln.
28-17 (still can't make a kick further than a PAT)
Maybe not make the kid pay the scholarship back, but if these guys can't understand the rules that are in place, or don't want to follow them, then they don't need to play major college football.
I know everyone thinks these players are getting taken advantage of, but I just don't see it that way. If the NCAA wants to adjust the rules to make life easier on these guys financially, then fine, but the rules are the rules. If you break them, there needs to be a stiff penalty, and personally, I am all for kicking people off the team if they are going to accept cash payments from boosters and/or former players.
I agree 100% with Tommy. I can't tell if DJ is joking when he writes some of this stuff or if he really is just not very informed with what is going on with the Buckeyes and College Football in general.
Absolutely love this site, but I cringe when I see DJ's name associated with a new post. Not trying to be rude, but damn!
I don't care what the Miami players get. After everything that has gone down with this program, for players to take cash, they should be kicked off the team immediately.
This is going to keep happening, until someone is made an example of. If someone isn't made an example of, then the hole program should be held accountable.
UGHHHH, this is so frustrating!
Don't let Denny see this comment! Stick to the topic at hand..AT ALL TIMES!
ESPN looks pretty lame right now. This is the front page story on every major sports website except ESPN!
Also saw a lot of talk about the OSU vs. Miami game being lableing it a "clash of convicts". This is really pissing me off that they are treating these Buckeyes like they are criminals for selling their own stuff!
