Most people will tell (and I also believe), that the biggest improvement comes from week 1 to week 2. I am confident we will make the necessary adjustments. We get a couple more guys back next week which will help. Also todays play calling on both sides was extremely vanilla, expect to see more looks and variations in the weeks to come. O-line had some bad moments, but they also allowed us to rush for >200 yards so I wouldnt be as critical as some to their performance. One player I noticed who not many are talking about is Michael Hill #77. In the time he saw he looked to be quite disruptive, I think he may have a very bright future as a silver bullet.

Go bucks.

Awesome article, another factor that makes this program special. It's been said before, but the real impact of urban and the things he implements like this will be seen this year and in coming years

Offensive line play is often a lot about rhythm. This early on I am not concerned with inconsistency, they will come together and gel with time and reps. I know 4 of them played together a year ago, but anyone who played oline will tell you it will still take them a minute or two to get back in harmony. Again, this early on, I dont believe it to be cause for concern.

I think its worth noting that the not "Ohio Statiesh" comment was made in the context of depth at Oline and Lbacker spots, not necessarily as a commentary on performance.

Agreed, I love the potential of Rod Smith and I think we all want to see him tear it up. Yeah its unfortunate it happened this way but it happened none the less. I think like others have mentioned not having Carlos may be good for the development of the young guys. It gives them a chance to build some confidence while an already proven player rides the pine for a few games. Extra carries early in the season for the young guys could be huge in the long run for this team for building confidence and experienced depth.

I didn't draw up the play, but to me this play was clearly designed to put the ball in Rods hands. Play action to draw the safety in, Rods mimics a lead block, then pulls up and stretches the field. Safety bit, Rod ran past him and created separation, no need for Braxton to check down. Love it when a play works perfectly.

Im not sure how to take your commment. Do you mean treatment by the media and fans? If so, that is an unfortunate consequence of the society we live in today. If you mean in the punishment determined by Urban, then I must disagree. In a legal matter such as this one which involves alleged assault (not sure if misdemeanor or felony) he was right to suspend indefinitely until more facts come to light. It seems like more evidence will be surfacing soon, so all we can do is hope for the best and that Hyde has been wrongfully accused.

Being unrealistic? Isn't equally unrealistic for everyone here to assume the team will not perform at a high level even without these two (if they do in fact remain removed from team/become suspended for X amount of games) without ever having seen an on field product?

This is the nature of the sport. Eventually, no matter what you have to replace your started. At one point Hyde was an unknown and not producing like the starter at the time. The next big thing may be second or third on the depth chart before all of this went down. Now we get to find out who the next stud will be.

Lets just be clear. I did not condone hitting a woman (allegedly), but as someone who has had a few drinks before reaching 21 and been in a few scuffles I will not throw stones.

I have to agree with the sentiment that one player does not make a huge difference. Even with Roby, our pass defense was atrocious at times last year. And all of this panic is assuming that no other players have progressed over the off season.

Comment 22 Jul 2013

Out of a hundred total players (schollie and non-schollie) 4 incidents (3 confirmed) would prob be lower than the average arrests for the general population just saying.

Comment 22 Jul 2013

Agreed. I would love to have both back as they are good players and up until this point had spotless images, but there is some young and hungry talent ready to prove themselves and now they may get the chance.

Comment 22 Jul 2013

Agree with original comment, everyone needs to step back from the ledge. Roby will most likely get probation and miss max 4 games. Hyde is still innocent until proven guilty and will most likely be reinstated if cleared much like Storm Klein. Relax people, all is not lost.
