This is a really frustrating mindset. I'm a defense attorney, and I can tell you a fast Not Guilty verdict generally means the prosecutor had a shit case. Or there was a strong defense. It does not automatically mean someone was guilty and the jury made a mistake.

Either way, this is the United States of America and we have a long, proud history of civil rights including the right to trial by a jury of peers. A group of people sat and listened to every word of that trial and collectively agreed on that verdict. We were not in that group. These are the legal principles we have followed for hundreds of years.

If this was one of our players no one would make these comments.

It does sound like a bizarre scene. Who throws a punch to someone's chest?

Good concept, execution is meh. It's Simpsons characters but none from the actual Simpsons family (aside from Grandpa). Huh?

Re: your last point about very old Buckeye fans. there's no way I'm traveling to opposing stadiums in places as unstable as Morgantown, or any other unfriendly confines after I retire. it's just not worth it, is it? I'm in my twenties and I already can't be bothered with so many things that merely inconvenience me. I can't imagine how I'll feel if/when I'm in my 60s and 70s and drunk assholes are in my face. at that point I'll keep a cane for swatting purposes, I guess. /rant

I feel like we usually skewer the coaches who offer kids this young. But of course I hope it works out. Either way, it's probably not going to cross my mind again for a few years.

this. I can't stand the guy, ever since the 2002 national championship game. I can't cite any specific examples right now, but I felt that over and over again he would make slightly biased comments against the Buckeyes. And it all culminated for me with his infamous "live in the Big House" intro ... from Ohio Stadium.

that's a really excellent question. and one that I'm very curious to know the answer to.

also, it's so pointless to arrest someone for having "paraphernalia" if there were no actual drugs. we, as a society, MUST STOP criminalizing such ridiculous, petty, insignificant, and utterly non-harmful behaviors.

this is fucking absurd.  never, ever, could you rationalize a single decision made by anyone involved in this scandal.  not one, for more than a decade.  the more I think about this the angrier I get.

Agree with Fort Meyer.  I think each investigation by these various entities should result in distinct and severe penalties.  A message needs to be sent.  I think it's absolute bullshit to conclude that relatively minor criminal charges (excluding Sandusky) against two or three administrators is good enough to move on.  I don't want them in our conference anymore.
