And as far as "good for them = good for us" goes, that's not true. Especially now with the new playoff system. If Ohio State wins every game, they're in no matter what. Michigan doesn't have to be top 5 or 10 for us to get into the playoff.
"Oh, well it makes the rivalry meaningful." If you only find meaning in this rivalry when both teams are nationally relevant, then please, move along. I'm sure the Red River Shootout or The Iron Bowl could use some more fans. If Ohio State and Michigan were both 0-11, the Shoe would still be packed to the rafters, and the fans thirsty for blood. It doesn't matter what the national implications are. If I'm the coach, I'm telling my team to block that out ENTIRELY. It is ALL about beating that school up north, no matter what anyone's record is.
I hate Michigan. I mean, I truly despise them. It's only football, it's only college, and I shouldn't feel so strongly about things that, at the end of the day, I really can't control, and it really doesn't have any significant bearing on my life. But i don't care. I hate them. Everything about them. Their school. Their students. Their fans. Their colors. Everything. I hope they never win another game or match in any sport ever again. I hope their football stadium is swallowed up into the earth. I hope I go color blind so I never have to see those gut wrenching colors together ever again.
I hate Michigan. Every week of the year. No matter their record. No matter their coach. No matter what.
