Something shocking me right now as I watch the Div III national championship is that these coaches haven't moved up to being co-ordinators in Div I. The Mount Union Purple Raiders and Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks have both been unbelievable, dominating their opponents for a long time!! They have played each other for 9 of the last 10 national championships, have unbelievable records (well the MU coach Vince Kehres only took over in 2013, but is 28-1 with his only loss to WW in NC last year. He took over for his dad who was 332-24-3 with 11 national championships in 27 seasons there). MU average points per game this year is 60.3! Per game! wow!! Update- actually WW coach Lane Leipold is moving up to be coach at Buffalo in FBS after this game. If he wins (looking like he will), he will leave with 111-6 career record- same # national championships as losses! I am pretty sure former Mount Union ( and Delta High School in northwest ohio athletic league) running back Nate Kmic has the ALL- division record for career yards too!
I think we shouldn't jump to conclusions ( even though it is fun). I could be wrong, but I thought Weber had planned on announcing at the Army All-American Game. Which Harris may have been expecting to happen and was caught by surprise when he found out Weber had committed. Could be simple as that.
I still like Dantonio. But I sure hope he ends up regretting this one big time.
Slade the Spade. Always burying the other team's offense behind the line of scrimmage.
I have a feeling that he is going to be very committed. Have you seen his video? He is coming in underrated, is already an aggressive sack machine, and will soon be working out at the Woody and be in top shape. Then coached by one of the best defensive line coaches in CFB.
After watching Slade's highlight reel, I have to say that I am SO looking forward to him hunting down Jim Bollman's offensive playmakers!!!! Hope he instills fear into their thoughts and they forget what the walrus told them to do. He is an animal!!!
If they do that, I hope we are ready with quick passes across the middle to our tight ends and some other short passes.
Please please please shore up the defense against the short passes!! Those lateral passes kill us but when we do a big blitz and they toss it to where our linebackers were, we are in big trouble. Play tighter coverage if possible. And I really hope for a huge day for our defensive ends getting to Cook and stopping short passes and getting tackles for loss on runs and passes. And of course a huge day for our receivers and Miller so they spread that vaunted defense out and frustrate them. Asking a lot, yes. Hey, I love the Buckeyes!!
Especially with the loss to LSU vs no losses. Losses count.
No. Shows more parity in their league. Not showing strength. They have to play in the game THIS YEAR to show that.
Haaa Haaa Haa!!!!:) Hilarious Jeeves!! I about spit out my drink! Thanks, I love it!
Absolutely right!! If only MH had not gone out there at all (which I don't blame him for) or at least not reacted much afterward, there would be a lot of talk about ttun players being to blame for the whole thing. They were ganging up on Dontre and pushing him into defending himself which he eventually did. Also, it is surprising that Taylor Lewan didn't get involved because he is such an unsportsmanlike player.
Exactly!! If you expect a perfect team at all times, go find one and let me know so I can put a bunch of money down on it. There isn't one. And if you think you found one, it is a team that is about to lose. Besides, if a team was absolutely perfect, I think it would get boring pretty fast. 100-0 scores over and over again wouldn't be something I would want to watch, even if it was my team. Like having your rival be a team that has not won a single game against anyone in a decade. Not much of a rivalry. I do not root for ttun, but I do want them to be a decent team along with the rest of our opponents, because it makes it all the better. Makes our Buckeyes look like and become a better team. I am now rooting for Buffalo to have an excellent season and am not worried about us doing poorly -as some of you see it- by only beating them by 20 or by only scoring 40.
Seriously people you are overreacting. Our team won by 20 points. With a small roster and with very little depth at some critical positions because of a number of reasons, including playing in a hot environment. Our defense needed a break because of the lack of depth and the cramping/dehydration. That is why our offense slowed down and got more conservative and predictable ("taking their foot off the gas"). If our offense simply scores in 5 plays every time we get the ball, sure we will score a lot. But our defense will be constantly on the field with no chance to catch some rest. They will get tired. They will get hurt. They will lose even more players, which would not bode well for a good season. We had to run the ball much more to move the clock and keep the defense on the bench in front of the fans/water. We had control for vast majority of this game. It wasn't always pretty, but when is the first game ever pretty? Rarely ever! They just got done with fall camp which is always too short of a time to get a team up to speed on everything. Do you remember that it just started a few weeks ago?! Let's be happy with a win. Let them get rolling and everything will gel. They may not go undefeated(GASP!!- Noooo! that can't happen!!). But they will still make most of us proud I am sure, if we can be rational.
I agree wholeheartedly!!!
Been waiting for years for an offense like this! One that is exciting to watch, able to quickly put points on the board, and not be so damn predictable. That being said, Tressel was a genius too. He won in a different way. The huge shock that was our last national championship was won by defeating this type of team largely by keeping our offense on the field and theirs off. That high-powered Miami offense was deemed unstoppable by nearly everyone, but we did stop them by not letting them have as much access to the ball. And Tressel blew me away by also totally killing the clock. I am probably naive a bit, but I don't remember ever witnessing such a show of a team's offense killing so much time and keeping the ball away from the enemy so well. With Miami, that was needed and to me was the biggest reason we won that game. Very underrated aspect of that win IMO. Of course, that Tresselball did not always work. The other 2 nc games show that. But more often than not, it did. I guess I just hope that our offense is quick, efficient , and exciting like we all want. But also able to give our defense enough time to gel and to get a break. It won't be as much fun to watch if we also see our defense struggle by being out there too much. Maybe the silver bullets will break records on turnovers and sacks and 3 and outs though and I won't have to worry about it. Excited to see how it plays out. And also hope the hype doesn't kill the dream season like we have had happen too much before. Hard thing to keep the egos in check when you dominate a lot. Still a Tressel fan and very much an UFM fan too. Let's get this done and do it beginning to end. Undefeated and NC!!
I am surprised that it has taken this long for Hyde! I saw the videos of him as a recruit and was very impressed. He could really tote that rock with smashmouth power! I expected great things from him and was as impressed with him as any other recruit in several years. I guess he is now finally getting his chance and "running with it"!:) Go Hyde and GO BUCKS!!
