Interesting argument in this thread . . . and your GSW site is great!
THIS. Every team must exercise the competitive advantage they have over the other squad. This year the Buckeyes have a 4 RB that would carry the ball 20+ per game with any other team. This offense never fully utilized Hyde, Hall, Elliot, and Smith when it needed the difficult yards.
Urban's the boss. It's his fault, just as the 24 straight wins are his success.
The bad news is if the Bucks go 12-0 next year they'll get zero respect. This team had a great opportunity and blew it, which we all knew was going to happen at some point with such a horrible defense.
I'm content with this loss. This team was not good enough to win the whole thing. The narrative, sadly, is true. Good but not good enough.
Win or lose a disappointing performance. Hate to say it, SEC deserves to go.
Too predictable. Use your weapons. Shouldn't have to put it down to one play.
Urb's POV is fast offense and special teams trump superior defense. We'll see . . .
Zone only works with supreme advantage athletically. Don't have it right now.
I'll root for this team until the day I die. Time to stops MSU, score, stop MSU, score and move along to the Rose Bowl.
Still confident Bucks will win. But Fickell and Withers: have you learned nothing?? Or are your players just horrible at being attentive?
I totally agree with you. I'm just asking a question. Seemed like TH was not running Hyde because Hall wasn't in the game.
Is there a legit reason to sit Hall at this point? Does Elflin do something better than Hall that I'm not understanding? Losing Hall appears to somewhat hurt the run game.
One Spartans turnover and commence blowout. O--H . . .
Avenue to win:
1. Throw ball deep.
2. Give ball to Hyde.
3. Play safety deep.
It ain't tough.
So is Marcus Hall not going to play tonight?
Feels like MSU early success more due to Bucks making mistakes (snap count, PI penalties). Time to smooth things out, get a TD, and correct the natural balance of B1G football.
The Buckeyes will likely lose in that case. I see a team that plays amazing on-the-ball defense + can score in transition. If hot from outside it'll be tough to stop (as we see tonight). If cold against a team with legit bigs--trouble.
I don't think most people are arguing players should be paid by tOSU. That would be a total mess, you're correct. How does one value Troy Smith vs Mike Nugent. It's a decision no STATE entity should have to make.
My argument is a player should be allowed to profit from his / her likeness (autographs, paid endorsement, etc), which is currently against NCAA bylaws + can get the student / program in trouble.
The current setup is like a school saying a Pre-Med student can't be allowed to publish a memoir about their college experience while they're in college, even though there's a market for the book, because profiting outside of a legit medical school is unethical and dangerous for the student. It's silly.
Surprised the "For" vote is only near 65%.
Who's against QB1 at tOSU having a t-shirt deal or being in a goofy commercial for a car dealer, making his money above board instead of suspiciously driving a luxury car or selling signed gear to a convicted felon?
Used to live a few miles from St. Jude. The spirit of the place lives throughout the community, much like Stefanie Spielman in Columbus + beyond. Great story.
One of the many reasons I enjoy the commentary of ANDYVANCE: logic and metered thought.
It's never good to brand a 19 year old (one whom none of us know) in a difficult situation as a bad kid.
That said, if anyone can give Shell his best chance on / off the field it's Urb or WVU Dana.
Hope for Shell he gets the chance somewhere and does his best, whether it's at tOSU or not.
Believe either 4:30 or 7:10. Will find out later tonight. Would expect the late game since they're out west but who knows.
