11W Sneak Peek: Purdue

  • By Corey - July 3rd, 2008

No, I think you are the fat one.

We’re counting down the weeks until kickoff by profiling a different Big Ten team each week. Today, Tiller’s Last Stand is up.

Joe Tiller is entering his final season as the head coach of Purdue’s Basketball on Grass and one of the Big Ten pioneers of the spread [...]

Time Warner is Still on the Clock…

  • By Corey - July 3rd, 2008

Time Warner’s feed of the BTN

Ohio State announced yesterday the starting times for the home OOC games, all starting at noon and two of them on the BTN. Youngstown St. and Troy have been picked up by the Network, while the Ohio U. game will be on ESPN or ESPN2.

This could be one of [...]

Matta Reportedly Adds Practice Body

  • By Chris - July 2nd, 2008

With no real Juco’s left worthy of a scholarship, Thad Matta has reportedly added a walk-on formerly of Cincinnati Moeller in the form of 6′9″ J.J. Grycko.

Grycko played on Moeller’s 06′-’07 state title team averaging a paltry 4.1 points, according to Bob Baptist’s blog.

I’m glad it appears Matta is content to not waste a scholarship [...]

Herbstreit’s Football Fest Bigger, Shinier

  • By Jason - July 2nd, 2008

The Herbsteit Challenge, started as an event pitting Ohio prep teams against powerhouses from around the nation is all growns up now.

The event, in its 4th iteration, was rechristened yesterday as the “Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series Presented by BURGER KING” (and just like in Idiocracy, you get paid every time you say those last [...]

How Good is Good Enough?

  • By Jason - July 1st, 2008

Taylor Mays is scary

I think we’re all in agreement that there’s a pretty good chance Tressel could have his best Buckeye team this fall. No apparent weaknesses. Yet, will his best be enough to topple the premier team of this decade, in their place?

A veritable Florida State of the aughts, the Trojans are [...]

Koufos’ High School Coach Blasts Matta

  • By Chris - June 29th, 2008

I think it’s safe to say Jack Greynolds Jr, Kosta Koufos’ head coach at Canton GlenOak High School, is not a huge fan of Thad Matta.

In today’s Canton Repository, Greynolds called Matta “clueless” based on his thoughts that Matta was to blame for the rumored poor relationship between the slow to develop big man and [...]

Bloggers Know: Conference Picks

  • By Jason - June 27th, 2008

Tressel’s not eligible, you say?

If you didn’t catch it in the feed earlier, LTP has compiled the conference bloggers’ picks for various awards and other things deemed important enough to be voted upon. While several of the categories were no-brainers I’m baffled that people still consider the prospect of a Utah victory at the [...]

Jazz Nab Koufos with 23rd Pick

  • By Chris - June 26th, 2008

After mock drafts had him going as high as 11th, Kosta Koufos fell to the 23rd pick in tonight’s draft.

My first thought, which an ESPN talking head sort of alluded to, is that Jerry Sloan might eat Kosta for lunch if the big Greek doesn’t step up the toughness in a hurry.

Koufos was the 9th [...]

Draft Day

  • By Chris - June 26th, 2008

With Kosta Koufos guaranteed to be a first round selection and Othello Hunter hoping for a late second round miracle, Ohio State is looking at back to back years with at least one player being drafted for the first time since 2000 and 2001.

The 2000 NBA Draft saw Michael Redd drafted by the Bucks and [...]
