Don't talk to me before I've watched my morning Ohio State linebacker highlight reel that features Anthony Schlegel choke-slamming an Idiot on the Field:

Word of the day: Soporific

ICYMI: The women's basketball team upset No. 2 Maryland, 98-87.

IF GAMBLING WERE LEGAL. Right now in Las Vegas, men riding 72-hour drug benders are throwing real cash on preposterous preseason Heisman odds. This helps the odds fluctuate without any football being played.

Last month, J.T. Barrett registered No. 2 in Heisman odds behind only Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield. Four weeks later, USC QB Sam Darnold is the new kingpin and Barrett has fallen to No. 7.

Here is the full list from Bovada:

PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL 1/23 ODDS CURRENT ODDS
SAM DARNOLD QB USC 9/1 4/1
LAMAR JACKSON QB LOUISVILLE 7/1 13/2
BAKER MAYFIELD QB OKLAHOMA 11/2 13/2
BO SCARBROUGH RB ALABAMA 15/1 9/1
JALEN HURTS  QB ALABAMA 12/1 10/1
SAQUON BARKLEY RB PENN STATE 10/1 12/1
J.T. BARRETT QB OHIO STATE 6/1 12/1
JAKE BROWNING QB WASHINGTON 10/1 12/1
TRACE McSORLEY QB PENN STATE 10/1 14/1
JOSH ROSEN QB UCLA 12/1 14/1
MASON RUDOLPH QB OKLAHOMA STATE 12/1 14/1
NICCK CHUBB RB GEORGIA 25/1 16/1
DERRIUS GRICE RB LSU 15/1 16/1
NICK FITZGERALD QB MISSISSIPPI STATE 22/1 25/1
KAMRYN PETTWAY RB AUBURN 25/1 28/1
SHANE BUECHELE QB TEXAS 35/1 33/1
LUKE FALK QB WASHINGTON STATE 35/1 33/1

Hell, if I were riding a magic carpet in Vegas, a cheeky $20 on Barrett would be worth it at 12:1. Outside of Ezekiel Elliott's final form, the QB has always been the benefactor of Meyer's offense.

If Ohio State rolls Oklahoma again, Barrett could find himself right back in the thick of the title hunt.

THAT JETSET LIFE. Ohio State pays Meyer a top rate for his services. All things considered, he's underpaid at $6,094,800 a year. Because he's underpaid, his bosses make up some of the difference by giving him favorable slices of the timeshare on a private jet.

Meyer uses this for everything from recruiting trips to vacation in South Carolina.

From tulsaworld.com:

The Associated Press requested documents from dozens of public universities and found that at least 20 own or share ownership of planes for school business, often employing a few full-time pilots to fly them. Many others charter private flights through outside companies.

Flight logs show that, at times, the aircraft are used for purposes unrelated to university business.

At Ohio State University, which leases one plane and partly owns another, football coach Urban Meyer and members of his family took 11 personal trips last school year, including a vacation in Florida, a weekend getaway to Cape Cod and a spring break in South Carolina. The university's cost: $120,000. Add Meyer's 15 recruiting trips in the same planes during that period, and the price tag jumps to more than $350,000.

Next time you're complaining about the price of a hot dog while standing in line at the Shoe, just remember it's helping finance the jet fuel required to recruit the nation's top talent to Columbus.

MAKES YOU THINK. Michigan is a tiny liberal arts school of medium repute nestled into the heart of juggalo territory. It has nothing in common with Ohio State, least of all football teams.

According to four-star 2018 OL Jalil Irvin, however, the two have more in common than most would think. He visited Ann Arbor last week.

From freep.com:

"They're really similar," Irvin said of the two programs. "There's not that many differences between them. It makes it kind of harder (to separate). But at the same time, you have to pick what's off your head."

Irvin was seeking a deeper understanding of U-M on the trip. He initially committed the day after seeing U-M coaches at a satellite camp in Atlanta.

"I just got a chance to see the campus and talk to all the coaches, not just a couple," Irvin said. "I just saw everything. All the coaches were cool to me. I saw the locker room at the Big House. It was a different feeling. I just wanted to get a feel from the program. We really enjoyed it -- we talked to the academic people."

Actually, they're quite different. One is an up-and-coming school in the heart of Ohio's greatest city. It's coached by a three-time champion, while Jim Harbaugh's biggest win was a Super Bowl loss to his older brother. #JustTheFacts

PAY IT FORWARD. A lot of fan bases use the word "family." Ohio State's proves it on a daily basis. The latest chapter is the outpouring of financial support for the Reagan Tokes' GoFundMe memorial scholarship fund.

From dispatch.com:

An outpouring of love, kindness and generosity from thousands of people, mostly strangers, will ensure Reagan Tokes' legacy lives on long after her death, her family said this weekend.

As of Sunday, a GoFundMe page collecting donations in memory of the slain 21-year-old Ohio State University senior from Maumee had already received nearly $88,000, well surpassing its original goal of $50,000.

Jake Hadley, a family friend, created the page to fund scholarships for Ohio State students and buy a commemorative plaque for Anthony Wayne High School, the Toledo-area school Tokes graduated from in 2013. The page has been shared nearly 10,000 times and received more than 2,000 contributions.

At least something good will indeed come from an otherwise unspeakable tragedy.

PLEASE STOP RINGING THE COPS. People who live on the East Coast and Chicago brag about their traffic like living in a city with traffic is worth bragging about.

In Columbus, when traffic interferes with our 68-degree day with no school and free zoo admission, we call 911:
