Tough loss for the Cavaliers last night, but I'm not rattled. Cavaliers aren't shrinking this series.

This week's NSFW ANTI-WORK #BANGERS:

ASH TALKS REFORMATION. Ohio State, at one time, was bad at tackling and had a knack for mental miscues (I know those feels), but that is no longer the case. What happened? Allow Chris Ash, a man Urban Meyer rescued from the bondage of Bert Bielema, to elaborate.

From Dave Biddle of 247Sports.com:

“Well, we didn’t have a lot of mental errors and we tackled well,” Ash said. “You’re talking about a defense that gave up the fewest amount of plays over 20 yards in the country and there’s a couple reasons: One, there were very few mental errors, because when big plays happen, the No. 1 reason is typically mental errors. The second thing is tackling. We were a very outstanding tackling defense and if you can’t tackle well, that leads to big plays.

“When you can do a great job with those two things – good tackling and giving up very few big plays – you’re doing something right and you’re usually in the right spots. Consistently throughout the year, I thought we did a good job of that.”

[...]

“We spent an insane amount of time trying to work on our ‘blow delivery’ with the whole football team; not just the defense. And when you can watch guys get good inside hand position and get off blocks like we did late in the year, you’re going to be a better defense."

Hmmm... spending that much time on "blow delivery" is a good way to end up in a cage in the City of Kings, but Chris Ash and I might be talking about two different things. I hope so, anyway.

OSU DOMINANTES ARBITRARY LIST. ESPN writers did a thing where they ranked college football's best player by each jersey number

Ohio State finished with 11. The runner-up, Michigan State, finished with five.

NUMBER PLAYER
12 CARDALE JONES
15 EZEKIEL ELLIOTT
16 J.T. BARRETT
17 JALIN MARSHALL
37 JOSH PERRY
43 DARRON LEE
65 PAT ELFLEIN
68 TAYLOR DECKER
81 NICK VANNETT
92  ADOLPHUS WASHINGTON
97 JOEY BOSA

It's arrogant, but whatever: This team is going to kick so much ass. The worst part is there are three months between us and sweet, delicious football nectar.

5 CHAMPS TO RULE THEM ALL. In case you haven't heard: Ohio State won five national titles this academic season. Jeff Svoboda of BuckeyeSports.com profiled them all.

*reaches into a hat, pulls out a trophy*

The [Pistolbucks] repeated as national champs, sending longtime head coach Jim Sweeney out with a bang. OSU amassed a score of 6,331 to take the crown by 91 over The Citadel. OSU bested the field in standard pistol, posting a score of 2,125, 12 more than its closest competitor, Navy. The Buckeyes finished a point behind Utah for top honors in free pistol and six behind the Utes for first in air pistol with a mark of 2,203. Glenn Zimmerman also finished first in the three-gun aggregate with a score of 1,634, putting him 10 in front of Utah’s Wyatt Brown. He finished tied for first in standard pistol as well. In women’s sport pistol, Irina Andrianova bested the field with a score of 660.8.

The pistol team reminds me of this great Jeff Boals tweet from 2013:

SPENCER AN AVID GOLFER. Get this, folks: Evan Spencer, a chill, affable bro, likes to hit the links in his offtime.

From Stephen Czarda:

I’ve been playing as long as I can remember,” he said Monday. “You know my dad got me a set of clubs when I was really young, so I mean I’ve probably been playing honestly as long as I’ve been playing football.”

While the game of football requires teamwork and elite physical strength, golf is a little bit different.

“It’s relaxing,” Spencer admitted. “Especially when it’s nice outside and in the summer, it’s good to come out here and clear my head and go out and play golf. I love it, and I always have.”

Commenters have been leaning on me about golf. I suppose it's fine to play as long as you're walking (i the course, but I will never understand it as a spectator sport.

OSU FOOTBALL NEEDS AN (UNPAID) INTERN. Are you an Ohio State student who can afford to get paid in experience and a line on your resume? OSU Football is looking for an on-camera anchor/reporter to narrate and report in promotional videos.

DANCING GREG ODEN. Greg Oden may have been a bust, but he doesn't look too eaten up about it:

Yep I was on stage!
