BuckeyeDale GO BUCKS!! +1 HS Oyster 1 Aug 2014, 7:19 am Yes. Bringing in a new OC gets him another year. If you fire him, it would be due to his record. You can't bring Nuss in as HC if the team lost, right? That means a new regime after 4 years. Two coaches in 7 years. Not many people will accept a position where you are booted after 3 or 4 years. "Scrolling hurts my finger" (and FitzBuck was clearly the winner) +1 HS BuckeyeNut2012 1 Aug 2014, 8:02 am I think he's got a good 2-4 years before he's fired. With their schedule this year, they could easily got 8-4 or 9-3, which would be enough to keep his position safe for another year. +1 HS BuckeyeChris 1 Aug 2014, 8:45 am I think it depends on to whom the 3 losses are (i.e. Ohio State, ND and Lil' Bro). And.. gawdferbid the there is a fourth loss?! If the first three losses are to the aforementioned, it may not matter who hands them their fourth loss. +2 HS OfficerRabbit 1 Aug 2014, 6:29 pm Nailed it. To keep his job, Hoke needs at least 9 wins including a win over us, MSU, or ND. I think he's gone even if they go undefeated the rest of the way. Another year without a B1G title appearance and losses to all of their rivals would seal his fate. +1 HS Jugdish 1 Aug 2014, 10:35 am Their home schedule is meh and they should do fine. The road schedule is a killer but since they are road games, those games will not have a bearing on Hoke being fired. He should get another year. Remember to get your wolverine spayed or neutered. TBDBITL +1 HS Furious George 27 1 Aug 2014, 8:44 am If they lose to Appalachian State again..... Most definately a no. Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man. +2 HS buck i 1 Aug 2014, 8:45 am I think Michigan has grown complacent and is fine with mediocrity. They have their Michigan Man, which is good enough for them. Dave Brandon is a business man, and dollar signs look better than wins. Ohio State brings in amazing talent. That talent produces on the football field, which puts people in the stands. Michigan, however, wants to sell fans on their glorious tradition, brushing recent history under the rug. +3 HS BuckeyeChris 1 Aug 2014, 8:53 am Side note (A): Love any thread / poll that centers around M@(!*@an losses. Side note (B): I was surprised to see that they, what with their returning/5th year/experienced QB, high-powered revamped offense, aren't ranked in the pre-season. Did anyone else think they'd be pre-season top 25? +1 HS buckeyedude 1 Aug 2014, 6:30 pm I was surprised to see that they, what with their returning/5th year/experienced QB, high-powered revamped offense, aren't ranked in the pre-season But TTUN did get "honorable mention," which I think is STILL too high. TMac 1 Aug 2014, 9:08 am They do play 5 away games ........that's a minimum 3 losses..... it's over IF they lose in Piscataway on Oct 4. ONE Not Done! BroJim 1 Aug 2014, 9:17 am Survive. . . Insert heart attack/ fat joke. I season my simple food with hunger +1 HS Hovenaut Mod 1 Aug 2014, 9:25 am I think he hangs on, but don't think he can finish 7-6 again. http://days.to/7-september/2015 Rock on. +1 HS Myc24 1 Aug 2014, 9:34 am I think it's doubtful that he's going even with a substandard year. Unless David Brandon is let go too, then it's open season. "Because I couldn't go for three!" - Wayne Woodrow Hayes +2 HS Oyster 1 Aug 2014, 9:41 am Very good point. Brandon won't fire him because that means he made a bad hire. If you read the ttun boards they almost all mention his ego being somewhat LARGE. He could get rid of him in two years and promote Nuss. That would be a face saver for him. "Scrolling hurts my finger" (and FitzBuck was clearly the winner) +1 HS Fatpants 1 Aug 2014, 10:06 am I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's all going to hinge on how badly he gets his ass kicked in the Shoe. I'm just a poo gas huffin' toilet snorkeler at heart.... +1 HS osu07asu10 1 Aug 2014, 10:07 am 4 losses or more and Hoke is shown the freight elevator... CJDPHoS Board of Directors // Best friends with Homey Hache The 0 is silent. Jastot 1 Aug 2014, 10:11 am We wanna get Hoke fired Oyster 1 Aug 2014, 10:27 am No we don't! "Scrolling hurts my finger" (and FitzBuck was clearly the winner) +4 HS AGAB 1 Aug 2014, 10:45 am Fact- The 49ers and Jim Harbaugh are at odds. Probable- Hoke is terminated at the end of this season. Possible- Harbaugh leaves San Fran due to problems with 49ers' management and becomes the next coach at his alma mater. Scary thought for the B1G East. The level of competition in our division would be unreal. osu07asu10 1 Aug 2014, 11:02 am Fact- The 49ers and Jim Harbaugh are at odds. I'd call this conjecture more than fact... I would put Harbaugh's return to TTUN to be their HC at less than 10%. The fact that there are NFL teams out there trying to TRADE for Harbaugh puts his value pretty high. Combine that with the fact that Hoke is getting $4m a year and would receive compensation if terminated with the fact that Jim Harbaugh makes just over $5m a year. To get him to leave a cushy NFL gig or another NFL gig to return to the rigors of CFB recruiting and bs would have to cost TTUN north of $5.5m a year to make that happen. No way Harbaugh comes to the B1G without being the conference's (and potentially CFB's) highest paid coach. To go along with that, Harbaugh is going to need additional spend for his assistants, although TTUN fares well in that category you would have to imagine additional spending. Couple that with the fact that TTUN attendance is down and they've scrapped the mid-season fireworks extravaganza...I find it unlikely that Harbaugh would return to AA, or that TTUN could afford to bring him home. CJDPHoS Board of Directors // Best friends with Homey Hache The 0 is silent. +2 HS Oyster 1 Aug 2014, 11:10 am I would think that Brandon would have to leave also. Those are two dominant personalties that probably would not mesh well together. Don't forget that Harbaugh sent a huge shot across the bow when he slammed ttun about their academics also. Would they be forgiving of that and welcome him back? Would he want to come back? He turned them down when my buddy RR was unjustly let go. "Scrolling hurts my finger" (and FitzBuck was clearly the winner) +1 HS MN Buckeye 1 Aug 2014, 12:06 pm Hoke and Brandon are joined at the, um, hip. So if one goes they both go. Zaphod Beeblebrox 1 Aug 2014, 11:31 am If meeeechegan fires Fat Boy I hope they bring back RichRod. +1 HS Buckeye in Illi... 1 Aug 2014, 1:03 pm Will he get fired? Unlikely Should he get fired? Absolutely, especially if he pulls another 7-6 at a program like TTUN. Columbus to Pasadena: 35 hours. "We're on a road trip through the desert looking for strippers and cocaine... and Rose Bowl wins!" yrro 1 Aug 2014, 2:27 pm Depends on just how badly he does. Another season like last year? He's gone. 9 wins he stays. Win over OSU he stays. Crumb 1 Aug 2014, 3:39 pm I think the only thing that'll save him is a win here at the end of November so he dang well better not survive the season. "The only good thing about it is winning the d*** thing" - Urban Meyer on The Game The War slobberknocker 1 Aug 2014, 4:20 pm I think Hoke's safe as long as Harbaugh is satisfied with the 49'ers. The job is Harbaugh's if he wants it. DCNick 1 Aug 2014, 4:39 pm I voted no because I don't think his record is going to get better this year. I don't think he is a good coach and I don't think his offensive line coach is very good. If he keeps his job it's going to be because the fans like him on a personal level. Based on their records it's crazy that Pelini was thought to be on the hot seat while Hoke was not. The difference was PR. Pelini seems to be going all in to show his personality and seem likable rather than hiding from the media and letting the performance speak for itself. buckeyeotaku 1 Aug 2014, 5:57 pm i say no, most likely culprits would have to be Urban Meyer and clogged arteries. We don't give a damn for the whole state of Bichigan buckeyedude 1 Aug 2014, 6:34 pm Tell me again why Harbaugh would want to demote himself to go coach his alma mater? It makes no sense. You all sound like a bunch of desperate TTUN fans. DaveStephens 1 Aug 2014, 8:03 pm I'm not buying the "need a win over OSU/MSU/ND. I think 8 wins, especially with a bowl victory, keeps Hoke in AA. Improvement and lowered expectation combined with the reluctance to have another regime change will provide some job security. The Dude abides. jonping67 1 Aug 2014, 11:09 pm He losses to ND, MSU and OSU he is toast. If he losses to OSU and either of the other two, plus one other, he is gone.
